This is a great copy of this fight; those angles really do give this a fresh look. Knockout aside, this fight is such a classic bout with some really incredible moments from Buster
Thank you.
Do you mind if I share this on the boxing forum I chill at?
I'll never forget the day after. I was 12 and a big Tyson fan. When I read the news of him being knocked out the day after, I couldn't believe it. Buster was a man possessed that night. Fair play to him.
still a veeeery slow count when tyson knocks down douglas
Thanks for the post. Cool to hear Mannie Steward in there at one point, round 10 i think. Round 8/9/10 are awesome, really swung back and forth for a while until Buster knew he had him.
Buster knocked down in 8 after putting some hurt on Tyson. Tyson charging out in 9, Buster rattled again in 9 after rattling Tyson. Tyson rattled again in 9 but both clung on to survive the round, Buster seemed gassed but recovered quickly. IMO this is one of Tysons bests rounds just on sheer survival factor. He must have been in a pretty dark place the whole second half of the round.
R10 is both going for it but Tyson just gets outclassed, runs outta steam and gets beat up. Buster really brought the goods for this fight but despite Tyson being beat i think he did show some pretty good heart in this fight. Yeah he didn't win, yeah he got beat up..but he hung in there past when it looked like he should have been done a few times.
Tyson got the longer count on the floor as well if you time it on a stopwatch from when the ref starts. The whole long count is one of boxings biggest myths.
alot of punches thrown in the midst of a break, i'm glad they made the rule about clean breaks when they clinch. when did that rule come into effect officially?
Whoosh, that uppercut from Tyson in the 8th, Douglas probably saved by the bell.
