piling in i hope y'all are doing good give him a minute to get in here and i'll give everybody an update on what the heck is going on hadn't went live in a while so i figured it's a dude trying to say okay we got about 53. hey michael in east tennessee hope you're doing good kyle thank you appreciate you watching checking out the channel and good little crowd of people coming in it's almost going down check it out what's up dude come on get everybody from my next charter with you hey aaron what's up buddy hope you're doing good yes uh i'll bring you up to date on what's going on and then y'all can feel people in that come in late that missed it i'm actually fishing uh i figured with the virtual catfish conference going on and all that jaw jacking that's going on with a bunch of people sitting inside you guys would need a break and to see some actual fishing now there's no guarantee of any catching but there is actual fishing going on so you get a little break you can check out some fishing in addition to watching the catfish cars look at that you see that right there look at those planer boards see there's one and there's one right there that's what those big blue things are if you see those things go under we're having fun we got it but yeah that's what's going on back there i've got um my usual spread i am drifting uh i've got six rods out and russell yes i need more podcasts i'm working on one i've made a commitment to only do good ones with guests so that's why i hadn't done any but anyway uh six rods out we've got chicken on this side this side uh i've got gizzard shad and a big perch head on the planer board so if that planter board goes under that's a pretty big perch head it should be a good fish so that's kind of what i got a nice little spread here making a big long drift i'm at the mouth of a creek and just making a big long pull out the mouth of this creek over to the other side augusta georgia what is up man down there in uh clark's hill country i've been wanting to get back down there uh but i hadn't been able to get older guessing that's the one on crabby fisherman uh alexa hey lee what is up buddy crappy fishing or hybrids uh we do we need to get together and uh first of all i need to answer your texts when you send them uh i don't know how i missed that one the other day but uh yeah we'll have to get together and do some uh crappie crappy however you want to pronounce it so uh yeah we'll get out and do some uh water here 50 degrees i am on the lower end of lake wally and i'm fishing in allison creek i'm at the mouth of it uh i kind of give y'all any of y'all that know this area this is the lower end of lake wiley a 13 000 acre lake on the catawba river chain in the carolinas and uh it's kind of stained water here uh i'll show you what we're looking at we've got uh that's water that you're wondering you can see it's not muddy muddy but it's dirty could be a lot worse uh two creeks come together here here's one here's the point in between them and then the other side here little allison big allison come together and uh right out this way that direction i'm heading is the main lake main river that whole area so uh we're just gonna make a long drift through here we've got a big drift sock out which you can't see it's submerged it's back there to slow the boat down the planter board over here this is on the starboard side one rod is a one of the big cat fever spinning rods got a pc fun reel on it and then these here are catfish pro rod and reels it's them there that ought to make you dizzy spinning around got those out these all have either gizzard shad or a perch head on this one which is on that come over to the port side port red is wine port wine is red sorry red red rod and then a red pc fun spinning reel so that's how you remember red for strawberry jello chicken there it is the goodness that's it there that's what is out on this side one of them on the planer board over there these are b cat planer boards these are some new ones that i'm trying i would show it to you right now in my hand but i don't have it uh be cat planter boards they have a piece of foam on them that is that big around it is huge it will float a huge bait there's my drift sock by the way i've got the big one out i don't really need it wind's not blowing we got partly cloudy skies and uh it's just a light breeze but i'm dragging through here really slow so i went ahead and put that sock out in case any of this stuff uh calms down on me so that's kind of what it is we got going on here we got a few perch in here hello hello youtube he's gonna cut my head off and make me into a bait put those in there and see those and then up front give me all the boat tour i do have my trolling motor in the water i see it there i've got my remote what i do when i'm pulling here i'm drifting with the wind but i use the motor to keep me straight and should i catch a fish and it starts to go to one side i can use the remote while i'm messing with the fish if y'all ever see me playing with this thing hanging around my neck in any videos that's what it is you can see i got an anchor out i was anchored up earlier caught a couple of small fish nothing to write home about so that's uh kind of where we're at uh with the fishing got you the good little boat tour of everything going on and uh get back to sit up here and read some questions and see what's happening with people you see the drift stock real good now it's up toward the top of the water let's see it right there it comes up a single rope to this little almost y shape ties off to a cleat here and a cleat over on this side that's kind of how that works and basically if you're not familiar with the drift sock it's basically a water parachute that's all it is it looks like a parachute let me get this back into the holder uh it is just a water parachute opens up slows the boat down like the wind's starting to pick up now i can feel it on the back of my neck starting to pick up a little more breeze i went from about point two to about point three that'll really slow me down we're not going to get enough wind today to really really really wear it out or need it so hey charlie what is up brother man hope you are doing good see if anybody else chimed in here hello from chattanooga over there in joe jealous in chat cats country or the white perch in your area a a-n-s i don't know what an a-n-s is uh but we do have white perch ams hey and i don't know what that is um but we do have them what size is that drift sock you're using corey it's an easterland drift sock it's one of their 10 footers that's a jet boat over there by the way uh it's one of their big ones it's the big big one i don't have the little one in the water right now so uh somebody will say through a question out here uh what is your favorite time of the year for flatheads march april may and then like mid-july august the the i say march it depends what happens with the temperature april may is really good because they're coming out of the uh cold you know our waters warming up at that point so it's starting to get into the you know 60s once you start getting to that 60 70 degree range that's when they seem to perk up around here i know some of you guys catch them in colder water in some places and we can catch them here i've picked off a few this winter some other people have but you're just not going to catch as many of them so so yeah what's that is that patriot cats in there uh i'm all the way down at allison creek uh james this is little allison behind me over on this side and uh i'm drifting toward the mouth basically gonna run right in between the islands so what is up one tonnage i hope you're doing good get a little crowd of people so yeah somebody was asking about dress speed um winter i try to go uh slow pretty slow my rule of thumb is whatever the water temperature you need to go that slow you need to go that slower slower so i'll show you you see right here water temperature is 50. put that decimal in front of it 0.5 or slower and as you can see i'm doing anywhere from 0.1 to 0.2 i'm really barely moving right now i've got my motor motor's actually turning which i'm surprised i'm going as slow as i am but it is a big drift stock out but yeah you can see the water is pretty chilly we got a little bit of life down here here's where i'm at fishing coming out basically zoom this out a little bit so you can see what we're doing jump around here basically we'll make a drift straight out through here i'm probably going to end up between this island and on out so that's kind of the plan there's a little bit of life in there not seen really anything that i would call target catfishy right now a little school of probably some little threadfin or something there toward the bottom smaller fish toward the bottom nothing super duper crazy great so hopefully that answered you something there lead us back in here fishing's not been on fire today uh i caught uh i don't know two or three fish anchored up earlier and uh i hopped a couple of places i got out here before that thing is allowed it's one of them little 800 pound jet boats running around uh and those are geese and anyway uh hey duder when does the spawn start on wiley generally speaking end of may into june is when most of it starts to happen uh i'll show you where the noise is coming from there he goes there he goes see [Music] it's a lovely sound welcome to summer everything i all of the reasons i i'm always reminded this time of year on the halfway decent warm day that why i hate summertime but anyway uh once i answered you were asking a question i was answering oh spawn end of may uh is when it middle may end of may into june june is when things really really really slow down and that is when you really uh start to just see things come to a halt uh with the bite and that's usually during the peak and then right there after stuff starts to rebound and uh so that's a kind of when it happens here anyway and a lot of the southeast is pretty much in that time frame june's always one of those months it's not a good month to fish for catfish you can still catch them like any time you can still catch them but uh it's it's it's not the best time to be out there so one time's asking do i tag any fish yeah i tagged fish for a long time uh i did that years ago and i did it with fish tagger you can still find some of my tagged fish online uh the problem is i think the fish expelled the tags and i'm actually i thought about this last night uh it's funny you mentioned that i think the fish expel the tax because and the reason i say that is we uh don't see many of them caught after about 18 months repeated we had some that were called over again and uh but generally after about 12 or 18 18 months or so you don't see them getting caught again so what we think is happening is they are expelling the tags they basically their body is seeing it as a like a hook or something else a wound and it dies and that area around the tag dies we think it falls off what i was thinking last night is i want to prove this and i want to see if the folks at bass pro shop will let me put a tag in a couple of their catfish that are in the tanks because obviously they keep those in captivity they're able to watch them we know where they're at we don't have to find them and see if they actually do expel those tags there's some other places that have catfishing captivity but i think bass pro shop would be a good place to do that because it's a very you know obviously you can see them there so i'm going to reach out to them the biologists here at the one in concord north carolina and see if they'd be willing to do that on a fish and i could even supply them with the fish uh i may not supply them with a fish today because the fishing's bad but it would be cool even if it's a small fish i'd like to see if they expel this tag so that was a two-minute answer to a yes or no question but hey that's the way it works all right chips one times that's how does it work basically trying to think if i got one i don't have any left they're a little tag about that long it almost looks like a tiny straw uh not even it what it looks like it's a piece of wire it looks like a piece of like uh 20 gauge wire it's it's very very small and it's got a j on the end it's almost shaped like that and it comes to a point you use what looks like a big hypodermic need a hypodermic needle to push it into the fish's skin put it in around the dorsal vent and it has a number on it uh for these you went to a website called fishtagger.com and you would enter the number and it would tell you uh who caught the fish originally if it's been caught since then uh all that kind of stuff so that's kind of the way it works uh you can put as much or as little information in there as you want you can put the weight you can put the location the lake uh whatever you want to put in there and uh from there uh you know somebody catches it and they happen to see the tag and take the time to write the number down and uh you can go look it up it's pretty cool pretty cool information but like i said i tagged probably 200 fish in this lake and a lot of them just never showed up after about 18 months so we don't know really what happened did the tags fall out were the fish caught and killed and they just never eat a bait again uh so anyway that's uh kind of the kind of thing what's your review that's from happy napper on the loose laser exhale how's it holding it's holding up real good right now because it's sitting in a drawer in my shop uh i don't actually have it on the boat right now because i've had some other reels come in like some of these pc fun reels that i've got and the catfish pro reels and the slime cat reels i've been trying a lot of this stuff out to show you guys just how it works and how it performs they work they work fine and i tell people they're definitely worth getting i'll probably put them back into the rotation at some point real good reels heard good stuff from the other people that have bought them so uh yeah i think they're real good they look very similar to the slime cat reels and you may be seeing the video fairly shown uh with me tearing apart to see just what the differences are what else we got there better wish i find better bob grifton ass santee rig or three-way swivel i use the santee rig i've played with a three a three the the three-way swivel and i'm not a big fan of it um i just it's just a bunch of extra knots basically is what you're dealing with so i just go with the santee rig it's pretty simple pretty easy to tie up and uh that's just the one i go with nothing against a three-way wood rig a lot of it depends on how you fish though i will say that um the way i work my lines are out behind the boat okay these lines are not close to the boat they are anywhere from 75 to 125 150 feet back if i forget to knock the reel in gear uh so there's a good angle on them i think that angle helps the setup if you're fishing straight underneath the boat if you're bottom bouncing the santee rig's not going to be your best rig so that's where a freeway three-way rig double hook rig alabama rig something like that may be your better choice uh if you're especially if you're doing some bottom bouncing i wouldn't be using a santee rig i don't think i would i don't bottom bounce i'm not the one to speak to that but uh you know that's where i'd be using a different rig i was hanging sorry so remember you all have to keep an eye on the planer boards there's that one where's that other one that was planed out of frame sorry uh let's see where we're at uh well somebody's asking where i'm at i'm on lake wally the lower end uh right near ebenezer land and ebenezer is right over there to this side so we got here how's the water on y leak hairline outdoors is asking uh anywhere from semi-clear to kind of muddy is the technical uh explanation where i'm at right now it's kind of dingy looking it's uh on the clearing side of being muddy uh so yeah it's it's getting better water's about 50 degrees right here where i'm at somebody's asking about kerr i was planning to get to kerr uh that hasn't worked out but i'm kind of mad and frustrated right now so i'm gonna be taking some road trips here soon to go fishing so uh and i say brian stryker is in the house if you look mr striker there are planer boards that your lovely hands crafted together out there in the water behind me we were fishing those bee cat boards today and trying them out and uh they're doing good they're obviously floating the baits i don't have as big a bait as they will hold those things are massive guys uh as far as i mean the float on them is it's almost as big as this yeti mug is it's a huge huge float if you are pulling big big baits these are the ones and the cool thing is they're the eva foam i know a lot of people have used styrofoam they wrap them in tape and there's been some other stuff this is that eda foam which is doesn't soak up or absorb any water so i'll have more videos on those i got a i got a short that i've done on them that you'll see this week uh they got a pretty cool clip on them they got this like atomic drop clip on it that like has a locking arm on it so they're pretty cool they're different than the other planer boards i use i think you guys that use planer boards they're good for folks that don't know what a planer board is let me explain if you'll notice those things now the boat's kind of skewed here but that is out away from the boat what a planter board does is if you've never used one you have to be in a boat or in moving water they basically have a piece of metal underneath them and a float on the top you attach a line to it through a series of stuff what it does is when you put tension on it it turns and you know if you're going down the road and you put your hand out the window if you keep it straight out the window it'll just sit there and the wind will go across your hand like an airplane wing when you turn it it'll go to one side and that's what happens with plantar force it allows you to do two important things one cover more water it increases the spread as to where your lines are the other thing is it can help with keeping lines untangled having that wider spread and said everything concentrated right behind the boat so uh those are the two purposes so you don't have to have them catch fish just fine without them but it's another tool to have in the arsenal so hill jack said he loves the pc fun chaos 60. that's cool the ones i have are 50s uh they're pretty good reel uh i don't have them on the boat right now because i was trying these other ones but i think i'm going to swap something out to put them back on here because i really like the reels maybe i am babying the pc fun reels too much and not using them enough on here no the reason i swapped them out i started using these pc fun spinning reels because i know a lot of you guys like spinning tackle because baitcasters can be intimidating with the casting and everything so i started using some of these pc fun the carnivore which has a bait feeder deal on it i'll show you what that is in a second and uh the viperx was the other one i've been using so they uh pretty cool somebody was asking about the catfish pro rods and reels i've got them on here uh still using them the rods are very very light that is the first thing you will notice i got to do and that's these rods over here the orange ones and it's their wheels catfish pro the rods are very light they're the lightest rods that i have they don't have the aluminum reel seat like some of these other ones do that's probably the biggest weight difference and it's the reason they are much more affordable i think they're very comparable i hadn't looked at way i mean there's a video coming out on those two uh two that are let me flip sorry about that uh got blipped out of something there uh first sort of action similar sort of real seat so i'll have a video on those to explain a little bit more so oh so we got here yes kylie pinky is still on here pinkie is right back there over that shoulder that's gonna rob me um she's still catching fish actually there are people that come on guy trips with me that actually get their picture taken with pinky and uh it's like a legendary regal so uh the cat max somebody just mentioned cat mix i've never used those those seem to be good reels a lot of people use them readily available that's another good thing about those uh i've never used any of them uh might be something i throw on here at some point and try out just to put them through the paces and uh [Music] they're uh they're like he's about to fly in the boat they seem to be good real estate so we got here why are you not on the catfish conference i don't know they must not love me actually i made i think two two or three cameos in a couple of videos for the catfish conference um i think the folks from catfish k-a-t-f-i-s-h are putting a video up i think at 4 20 today catfish has a video if you want to see me you need to watch that video uh it is a i don't want to give it all yeah i will give it up i'll give a bunch of one it features clarence uh it's a catfish rap video that i edited way way back when i first started my channel and uh they never really did forge 410 410 there's fishing with clarence the world's greatest fisherman and uh we've had that video forever and nothing was ever done with it and clarence uh had a vision that was very similar to it so anyway you'll have to tune in it's funny you'll like it and you'll get to see me there so uh no i uh am i getting a bite that's not a bite sorry where was it uh going back upriver how long until you start going back up river to fish ryan is asking i went up there the other day it was hideous that's why i'm at the other end of the lake uh i mean i want to bounce around and hit it the problem is right now the constant water flow i mean it is just constant water flow through this system and it's made the river fishing a little more of a pain in the butt than the intermittent water flow that we get so uh it's not as much fun it's a little more challenging seem to have better luck down here blah blah blah so that's why i haven't been back in there we get onto a normal cycle of you know normal cycle of water releases normal rain uh i'll probably be back up in that deer so i'm just saying something about lake marion that is another one uh that's another one's on my list there's actually something i'm i'm i made an outline of last night that i'm a film i'm wanting to make down there so i will be down there that's another one that's on the list of stuff i got a i had some revelations the past 24 hours on some stuff i want to do so uh so we'll be down there so uh yeah keep just keep tuning into the channel you'll see some stuff when i'm down there so the dragon bottom course that says that bouncing or dragon bottom they're dragon bottom i i don't do any like quote unquote real bottom bouncing in the sense that you know drifting with the current and holding the rod and all that kind of stuff this is uh trolling is what i'm doing uh trolling drifting whichever you want to call it it's kind of a combination between the two i've got wind pushing me but i've also got a trolling motor that's controlling the angle and everything so that's what's going on there thank you to editor we're also going to make some smaller ones also yeah brian those things are those are big dude uh i hadn't even pushed the envelope yet on exactly how big a bait i'm gonna do the thing i found interesting about them was as big as they are they behave in the wind pretty good and what i mean by that folks is planer boards in the wind sometimes can get swept to one side if you've got a wind kind of coming in crossways they can if the wind some of them just get played by the wind more and i don't know what that combination is if it's the depth of the metal blade how big the float is when's being affected by it uh the other thing i like about i think it's going to be nice about these as big as they are is that i think it's going to hook it's going to it's going to i'm super just the best i think it's gonna affect help the hook set uh just having the resistance there at the top especially using circle lugs so uh a few months ago and haven't hardly caught nothing since well tim congratulations on winning that uh tournament down there that is a uh baden is a fickle lake like some lakes don't know what the combination is on some of those legs and why they're that way monticello and south carolina is another one that can be very fickle and uh just weird sometimes you're catching them sometimes you're not and but yeah congratulations on the win i know there's some great fishermen that fish in that tournament series down there so you're doing really really good to beat that so let's unless we got in here bullock experience why are you not heckling the live conference well it's like i said earlier when i first got on here um i'm sure most of y'all have probably uh uh heard enough jaw jacking from the conference and may want to watch some fishing so i'm giving you an actual fishing option uh versus looking at steve douglas and kevin their heads you just can only look at their heads for so long so i'm giving you a fishing option uh out here on the water to see what's going on if you need a break from it uh i listen i tuned into it this morning i got to see luke nichols on there uh that was really cool and uh i tuned in last night to uh catch uh uh glenn from the aca i wanted to see what he was gonna talk about and uh nothing profound or earth-shattering there so uh i dropped in a few times yesterday i know they got commercial burt not commercial breaks but little breaks and stuff in there uh and i seem to tune in whenever those were going on but i think if you're looking the biggest thing is i'm not looking to buy anything to be perfectly honest uh i got a ton of crap already and uh a bunch of reels and rods and stuff to uh uh oh serena's in the house what is up she's in the house y'all say hey uh it's my good luck charm usually i catch a fish when she shows up uh but yeah i got i got enough stuff to demo and try out here for you guys and show you what's going on and whether it works whether it doesn't and how it works and good points and bad points so it kind of it uh that's why i hadn't been tuning in to buy anything it's you know it's a bad thing about it it's it's it's great that the vendors are getting together and doing something to try to uh you know sell their stuff because a lot of these guys you got to remember folks a lot of these guys bought stuff uh bulked up you know large amounts of whatever they're selling and uh in hopes that the comp catfish conference was happening and then when it did it you know they're stuck with all this stuff that they got to move so uh they're you know getting rid of that stuff and selling that and this is a good opportunity for them but what i was gonna say is it nothing beats being able to be there and talk to people to see you guys and talk to you shake your hands take a picture with you all that kind of stuff so that's the part you can't replace so uh let's see is casting distance from boat important bob the only time that comes into play when it brings up a good point i was just talking with somebody about is the length of rods and stuff um i wish some of these catfish rods were shorter uh everything seven foot six and i think that they're trying to hit a happy medium between boat fishermen and bank fishermen and being able to cast and uh for me casting distance isn't that big of a deal because most of time when you're trolling you're putting lines out and then you can let out more line got a little fish on there i think they're a little fish or some weird bottom uh so yeah casting's not that important unless you're trying to really park away keep an eye on that rod right there uh from stuff uh you know and cast to it so i'm not i'm not working these rods chunking baits i mean it's really not that that big of a deal i'm probably have to check them and that may be a little boom let's see what we got here dick was asking silver cat elites yeah i've got two of those on here very good rods made by b m and uh they also uh are in the background on my set back in the studio i think there's a little fish on there guys let me let me get this one check this real quick if i catch a fish i'm gonna start calling serena before every live feed so that she can jump in here and catch a fish because not as i just said a minute ago when she shows up i catch fish so let me see no i did something else but i did something bad if you do some trolling every now and then you're gonna do this and you're not gonna knock the rod into gear that line gone that line gone let's make a good thumbnail yeah i sit here and reel for a minute that's why the rod was moving hell it's one way to respond line onto your rod really really tight get a good tight wrap doing this one good thing if you ever want to see the retrieve rate on these reels pretty good about the same as the uh i say the lose reels so glad i didn't hook a 60-pound fish on that you don't say that too often still here still reeling never mind me folks good time to run to the bathroom grab a drink probably got time to pop some popcorn before i get back i'm back that was fun yeah commercial break that's exactly what that was so if you drag and drift and troll enough you'll do that eventually i've had them down to the knot before i have done that so that will uh yeah so i thought serena had brought me luck for a second she may have cursed this she may have turned into the curse now so anyway i'm messing with you uh let's see what we got here yeah but it's serena's fault that it out there let's see what else we got going on in here i don't know what's going to show you guys some a bunch of people in there by the way i'm dieter melhorn if you're new to the channel and you stopped by to watch this thank you for dropping by and checking it out i appreciate it consider subscribing if you can deal with the chaos everybody in the chat is really nice so they alone are worth subscribing so you know when i do a live video so you can go talk to them uh any of you that are subscribed to the channel thanks for coming back i appreciate it i told you i was going to mention something about this uh bait feeder reel i've done videos on these things but then i've had people ask me about them so i'm gonna show you what's up with them all right we got to get it over to the side this has a planer board this is a spinning rail it's a bait feeder reel over here right now it's engaged okay so bail split line ain't coming off unless i really pull against the drag drag's controlled by this here okay now what you can do is because people like bait casters and clickers and that this has a device on the back it's a little lever you flip it back and line can now come off hear that you can adjust the tension with this knob back here so that it what it does is it allows you to use it just like a clicker on a bait casting reel except it's on a spinning drill then when oh there's a fish it made its run crank the handle watch the little button boom it knocks it in gear so that's how it works it's a option it's an option for uh you guys that may not want to fish with a baitcasting reel and it's more affordable that one is made by pc fun any of these reels go to my website it's in the gear section uh there's links to all this stuff that way you don't have to write all this down deidremelhorn fishing.com it's really easy it's a gear section on there if you're interested in all this stuff the names and all that so that's what it is so they're uh they're they're pretty cool little reels i'm gonna try to put them to work shark fishing uh this summer uh they just sent me a bigger one a 5000 series that's a 4 000 the 5 000 uh that's what i did the short video on yesterday um that's a new little thing youtube's doing by the way with some of these little shorts they have to be less than a minute basically uh youtube's answer to tick tock so i've been doing some little short things on there uh for you guys but uh yeah i'll be trying those out those have an interchangeable spool on them so something kind of cool there's planter boards they're still back there yeah no fish no fish there's this that reel is similar to akuma avenger yeah there's several people that make these things and uh uh they're they're they're pretty cool reels pretty cool i think they're only about 50 bucks so it's a good all affordable alternative to get into some fishing fishing tackle catfish size stuff chad was asking about the catfish pro rod that's what that is folks in case you missed it uh i was saying earlier i went over to a minute ago you probably missed it might have come in late it's um it's cheaper than the other rods uh less expensive uh it's much much lighter than the other i call them just the normal catfish rods to catch the beaver big cat fever uh b m and slime cat uh it does not have an aluminum reel seat and that's probably one of the reasons it's lighter and cheaper than those other rods and uh but so far uh i've caught fish on it i i i put it in a similar category to an ugly stick catfish rod it's kind of that same kind of weight same kind of um action uh and about the same price point so a little bit cooler i might have a complete video on it talking about it and all that so uh so yeah i'll let you keep a lookout for that let's see what we got here dater how butch are you in march march is kind of kind of bad there are dates but there's a lot of dotted dates tied up in march mark's kind of i don't know why mark's got busy all of a sudden um april's looking better april's going to be when it really gets even more and more predictable so yeah text me after this or go to the website and send me a message or whatever and uh yes if there's some dates you're looking at let's see who oh looking through here [Music] see looking through i'm scrolling through all this he says you can use rainx on the lens to keep water drops off my additional suggestion there is if you do that to put a filter on first and don't put the rain x directly onto a camera lens because of the coatings on there could be affected by that silicone medicine there so how about are you from a mae's not that bad yet isaiah it's uh there's a couple of dates in there that are tied up but it's really not that bad yet so i know some people are it'll be interesting what happens this year with the coveted stuff um and i seem to do a lot of trips last year uh and i wonder how many of them were covered you know just because people wanted to get out and do stuff and uh so anyway uh we'll see what happens this year going cadden the bite of super suit sleeper throw on nate murray super slow on lake murray well that's good to hear i guess because it's not exactly on fire here today um i'm not smoking them i'm gonna try a last minute ditch here effort toward dark and do something super duper shallow i tried it the other day and it didn't work either so uh by the way jello chicken somebody's asking or somebody mentioned that dmv did jello chicken winner winner it's a tie today it's uh the ones i caught before i got on here it was a it's split so far so uh it's uh still catching fish it's it's an interesting bait i'm curious what's gonna happen in the springtime so uh we will see what happens as far as catching fish with that stuff i'm gonna keep using it side by side i'm trying it with shad i'm trying it with everything and nothing is like blowing anything out of the water yet what's amazing about the chicken is there's not even been a day where another bait has dominated it i've had one trip i may have put the video up already to where it was a bad day of fishing it was only three fish two of them came on perch and one came on chicken and i haven't had like a dominant day with it uh so it's kind of interesting let's see we're right here yeah dmv says i like strawberry jello over kool-aid i'm not sure to be honest here here's we're going to try this and we'll try to get a lake with a good population of small to medium-sized fish just to get numbers so just so i can have the numbers to see um i'm not sure the color of it has anything to do with it so uh and and corey's bringing up a good point here if you try jello versus no cello that's going to be another part of the test i don't know that the color has anything to do with i don't know if the flavor has anything to do with it i don't know that the jello has anything to do with it uh there's a little bit of science to the jello part of it is that jello the jello is made from gelatin which is a pork byproduct so there's there's actually some you know stuff there amino acids that could come into play with it that could help but i think it's the chicken it's the bottom line i think it's the chicken more than anything that is making the fish hit it and the amino acids in the chicken so there you go fishing with billy what is up brother man welcome to the hood no luck at lake whitney in texas and gun fishing that's the thing uh one of my little dream fantasies for this spring summer is to be able to go on the road and visit some people and jump on the boat with them and fish with them in some different areas to see how that stuff works i don't know if it's just because we have so many mussels and snails in this lake that it makes it a better bait here than it would somewhere else where you don't have those muscles and snails and stuff so so yeah i don't know i don't know what the combination is on all of that stuff but i like to try it i have some ideas i have some ideas [Music] ryan's asking dude i look away it's tough getting the question in on these things man um especially when you get a bunch of people when i when i had 400 subscribers i could do a live feed and there were 12 people in there and i knew everybody by name it changes a little bit when you get more people coming in which is great because you can help out a lot more people but sometimes stuff gets overlooked planar board preference on beginner planner boards here's what i can tell you uh don't go with the smaller ones uh stuff like the water bugs uh the yellow birds uh while i think they may be good for wall line striper i don't think they're good for dragon catfish baits um the the ones like the bee cat or that i'm using are good boards uh i think the ones like the zach royce board because i've got some similar those are probably on the smaller lower end of it especially for pulling bigger baits uh and then there's some that are like the bear boards uh that are kind of bigger and work uh good i think some of them the thing that's interesting on all of these boards is they're all a little bit different and i think some of them work better in different situations and scenarios depending on how you're fishing what your style of fishing is you know i not everybody's dragging sand t-rex some people may be driving dragging live baits or suspended baits um it's almost like you need a couple of different pairs to kind of see what's going on which sucks because they're not cheap they're expensive and it's kind of tough but i would stay away from the smaller one the water bugs are a little bit small they're really designed for more like striper baits smaller live baits that kind of stuff so uh yeah the b cat try those uh those are one i think you'd be happy with the zach royce style smaller boards like that if you're dragging some smaller stuff i think they may be good ones uh but yeah that's kind of my you know armchair advice on the ones that that work and that are effective these are ones here that i'm going to keep trying for a while they seem i like the really really big foam on them i think that's really going to help with some bigger baits but kind of depends how you're fishing so you know get a set try them out i've got some videos on them probably going to do some more videos on them try set and you know if they work great for you then boom don't buy anything else if you want to try something different or if you start running multiple boards i've seen some people pair up some different brands of boards depending on what you know if they're running multiple boards out somebody just mentioned junior proctor's got some i haven't tried his yet if junior's making them they've got to work because he catches big fish all the time so he's got some much to see what those are about i've seen people run like their outer boards one style and their inner boards and other styles some people run six boards at a time doing this so uh and that may vary depending if you're putting out multiple baits or suspending or that kind of stuff so so yeah that's my armchair advice don't get the small ones go with some of the bigger stuff so we got in here [Music] well cut snakeheads work for blue and flatheads dmv's talking about using cut snakehead for bait that's kind of cool that's an interesting thing and it brings up an interesting topic and that is uh nature finds a balance uh we we we talk about invasive species and uh you really i can't think of an instance where a species of fish has completely taken over a waterway because that species of fish has to eat something and obviously there's only so much for it to eat the other thing is that species fish becomes dinner for somebody else and we've seen that happen with blue cat populations we've seen it happen with asian carp populations and i think in the right fishery uh even with the snake head luckily we don't have any of those here we got both in which are commonly mistaken for snakeheads but uh we don't have those you put snakeheads into a pond they'll pretty much eat everything in there because they don't have any predators but uh you get them into a waterway or something that can eat them like a flathead or a blue catfish nature balances it out so her snakeheads are fun to catch daniel ishmael what are gas prices like here well i'm live in north carolina on the north carolina south carolina line uh ironically north carolina has some of the highest gas prices in the country and south carolina has some of the cheapest so i don't know what they are to be perfectly honest i don't really pay it any attention i am going to buy gas regardless of how much it costs uh it's gone up uh it's i don't see any of the super cheap stuff but yeah it's going up but i don't know what it is here now somebody from north carolina chimed me and i hadn't looked at how much gas is i just kind of pay it and then grunt and moan and complain and then move on because it's kind of like oxygen if you're going to fish you got to have it so that kind of is what it is dmv whiskers king on you too the bank fishers and catches monsters yes that is a good channel and some good stuff on there i'll do some i'm going to do some bank fishing i just just know i understand the plight of bank fishermen it's like here there's very limited places to fish on this lake there are some places you can access the bank to fish but it's generally at the upper reaches of some of our smaller rivers then i think that good so fishing in gear eight miles to the gallon in the truck that's brutal that's like when i pull my camper tractor or something like that it's just like it just plummets on off snake heads are very good to eat that i did not know that's interesting that's awesome we got here yeah our bowfen uh we usually catch them in the back of these creeks uh and usually muddy feeder creeks we've got them on wiley we've got them on lake watery uh they're interesting fishing they're on santee cooper too uh they got teeth and uh they're they're they're interesting um yeah it's usually shallow muddy kind of water is where they show up at they're uh pretty cool looking fish pretty cool looking fish not a single bite on this drag this is bad bad bad dieter is so wealthy that prices are of no concern well it's not so much wealth it's a desire to do stuff uh kind of makes me just go it is what it is you know i remember being down at santee cooper i remember this clear as a bell was down fishing to santee cooper this was when was the last big spike 2012 and we were coming back and i stopped to get gas and it was four dollars a gallon four dollars a gallon and because we were all talking about how they went up and what are you gonna do walk home from santa cooper you gotta buy the gas yes it's the price to pay to play so it uh it's gonna go up i got a feeling as the cove declines uh start to happen more and more people are gonna be out doing stuff more and more people traveling more and more demand i got a bad feeling we're gonna see 325 340 a gallon this summer so uh if you got a great big tank i would go buy some now and just store it until then uh because i think it's going to go i think it's going to keep going up especially with all the covet stuff on the decline more people's going to get out it's going to be it's that was one of the things about during cove at gas prices went out the bottom nobody was traveling doing anything it's it's going i think we're gonna get our teeth kicked in so hello in oklahoma some of you people out there in some cold cold cold what's a good state to go to who's that macho ortiz saying who's a good where's a good state to go for catfishing it's a very good question i'll tell you it depends what you're looking for are you [Music] wanting to catch a bunch of fish and have a shot at a decent fish uh tennessee good area and i'll say this too areas that are easy to fish you can go out to the mississippi river and there's big fish there's lots of fish but it's a lot harder to fish than it is on some of the reservoirs if i was telling somebody to go somewhere to get fish to catch have a shot at it that was asking i think fishing reservoirs is going to be easier fishing for you're not dealing with current swift current and that type of fishing which is a totally different ball game tennessee river lots of lakes lots of rivers on there kerr lake obviously home to the world record home to the uh also the largest blue catfish ever caught and uh it's a huge lake it's a reservoir it has a riverine section lots of small to medium-sized fish and you got a chance of catching something over 100 pounds james river has some big fish it has some great fish the problem is uh just plopping down there and fishing it on your own it's not a very uh newbie friendly kind of place to go fish so uh while there's chance for big fish down there is not a place i would advise somebody just to go plopping into if you don't have some experience with uh dealing with one current two tidal rivers and three running a gill net to catch bait with so so yeah it's a little more challenging santee cooper another place that is a moderate concern for a newbie lots of good fishing lots of variety of size of fish but it is like it can be dangerous uh the upper part of the lake stomp reading tree ridden and it's a massive big body of water that has some bad water when it gets windy so not exactly the most friendly my suggestion is i would stay with tennessee something in that area uh and i'm gonna flip this around because the sun is out now it's got the screen lit up i'm gonna change over to here y'all don't get to see the rods anymore but i will put them over there if if we get dead bear with me bear with me get this clipped onto the corner of my cooler there we go now i can see oh god it's so much better my screen was just a lot of glare coming across that's a lot better now i can see what the heck you're saying don't worry if i catch a fish i can put it right back up there i'm not feeling the love guys take my mask off how many you got so far way official squirrel i caught some fish before i started but i have not caught a fish uh the whole time i've been dragging out here so uh yeah it's not good good not good good uh oh scott says i pass him up but it's still pretty tough good glad to hear you're not catching fish because it is bad up here i think i caught one fish in that cove you saw me in and i caught one back here in little allison creek or two back here and it's it's been it's been it's been bad so it's clean that's and i still have the braids no my hair gone braids you must have watched my braided fishing uh i actually got uh y'all check that out if you don't see me when i had long hair and i had the braided hair it's what you do when you want to win a bet to get a new truck but uh yeah watch that you get to see me with the braided hair that was hilarious uh with jello and a full moon hoping to get some shell green i i hope you catch some fish too you may have better luck i'm gonna be honest with you i think the time to be out here is early and i may be out here early early tomorrow uh i kind of came out middle of the day today i wanted to see luke nichols talk from the catfish conference this morning and uh so i hung around the house okay i was being lazy i admit it and uh but i may get out here tomorrow it's time to get a haircut i got hair sticking up here on the side distracted sorry good luck tonight out there though uh i hope you catch something ever fish baiting lake i have danny uh fished some tournaments up there several several years ago uh the bad thing about baiden is uh one it's a fickle lake i talked about this earlier and it's a um but it can be a rewarding lake it's about the same distance for me to get there as it is like watery i'll be honest uh i have a lot more confidence going to lake watery uh not to mention i've got a camper down there and i can stay down there and that makes it nice because i can go fishing for you know a couple of days down there and you're about to talk me into going to lake watery tomorrow and going fishing but anyway i digress uh if i love baiting if i was closer i'd fish it more [Music] yeah brett luke was good he gave up a lot of good information uh brandon spencer says i got anything i have not fished the 5000 yet i don't even have line on it yet i got it to uh i need to spool that up they sent me this uh little line spooling thing that i'll probably do a video on i think they laughed at me because in one of my videos i was showing how to spool up a rod or spool up a reel and i had the spool of line bolted onto the leg of my tripod that i was filming the video with so they sent me this little contraption to put the line right there on the thing so i'm gonna put that together and make a video of that and uh i'll show you that but i need to get it on the water i'm gonna spool up i think i'm gonna put braid on one of them and try that for some shark fishing down at the coast then again i may be able to do it with which is the mono ain't excited i don't know best place to find that loose laser you were using hunter's asking there's a link to them on my website uh that's through amazon you can go there they seem to have consistently had them that's dietermelhornfishing.com just go to the gear section there's links to those on there but you know the thing right now is with tackle and stuff there's a lot of demand for fishing tackle that was a covet thing that's kind of the result of covid and people getting out and fishing and all that kind of stuff so you may have a little bit of a hard time finding them but i think a lot of you know a lot of stock was replenished and stuff in the winter so yeah go check that out theater milhorn fishing gear section there should be a link in there some of those lose and let's see here [Music] what size hooks am i using chris edwards is asking i think everything i got out today six on i'm not using all right i figured it back i got two big bait rigs and i've got eight alts on those but everything's been uh the six alt hooks the smaller stuff i was trying to just in doing my little test here side by side with the chicken and the uh gizzard shad and perch to try to keep it similar sized baits so what are your favorite creek on lake watery lake watery is a lake on the cadabra river chain between colombia and charlotte for those of you that don't know similar science to lake wiley uh june creek and colonel creek those two areas those seem to be my favorite but i'll be honest with you here lately singleton creek right around the state park i don't know if there's a favorite the more i talk about it the more i go well i don't know i've had a lot of luck in catching i've shot some videos that were up uh a month or so ago that i caught all the fish in watery creek so they're honestly they're all good the only one i don't mess around much in is the east side creeks uh beaver creek and beaver dam and uh what's the one on the other side of singleton creek so here you go hartwell is an awesome lake to fish uh for y'all that don't know harvell is on the georgia south carolina border on the savannah river big big lake got a lot of stripers in and got a lot of trees in it and supposedly some really really good flathead fishing and every time i drive across it i go i need to come down here and go fish and then i don't so i've used braid extensively drifting for catfish and uh a matter of fact when i was using when i was doing one of the spinning reel videos uh oh uh oh oh oh we got a bike we got a bike we got a bike we got a bike we got a bike she's gotta sneak up on it snake up on it oh he's a biggen look at that oh he's gonna break that rod oh i'm going to catch a fish you know what they say you ever wonder who they is they is me any fish caught live's a good fish let's hope we catch though let's hope we catch it popped off i knowed it i noted man there's a reel by the way the catfish pro 600 cts and their rod he popped off it's a medium action rod by the way you could tell by how little that rod was moving that was a little bitty fish it's heartbreak gloom despair that was on a piece of shad let's get another piece of shad grab a drink go to the bathroom i'm still here people you just tuned in there's still a human there still a human still here man that was a that was a little bitty fish if he couldn't eat that little bitty piece of bait all right guys y'all have one job to do today one job and that is to make sure i knock this reel in the gear because i'm gonna let some line run off of it i kind of dropped it right in between my planer boards get it on the bottom man we almost had a fish i almost had a fish way way way way slow but anyway uh y'all got to remind me to knock that thing in the gear i'm going to keep you around a little bit longer there's nothing i'm going to try a skirt right around the edge of this island see what happens what about lake gaston no that is where zach royce fishes home to the north carolina state record blue catfish great lake to fish another one that's about five hours from here four hours from here uh and uh i'd love to get in there and fish it the uh biggest thing in a place like that i just is trying to figure out an easy place to stay when you're out of town a lot of places are a lot easier for me to go fish when i go fishing eastern tennessee uh santee cooper those kind of places it's easy to find places to stay with a boat and a lot more convenient and easy so uh still pulling the line off you know what i'm gonna do i'm gonna swap out drift socks real quick uh y'all pay attention and watch this is the small drift stock we have really no wind out here blowing this is a small one from cabela's see how big it is not that big all right i'm gonna put this one on the line and bring in the other ones this one that's what it looks like it's what i call a medium-sized drip stuck we'll swap it out for the big easter egg that's out there when i do i'll throw this one off the side get it inflated and then pull the other [Music] so you're going to get to see me do this the hard way because the takedown rope is not attached to the cleat take down rope that's why it goes to the back the small opening on the drift sock and makes it collapse very easily easily being the word that will not get right here when i pull this one so so when you have a drift slot a big one you can imagine this thing's filled with water you have this little rope it's called a take down rope and when you it basically goes to the back and it makes it collapse from the back makes it very easy to leave very easy to deflate stupid me forgot to tie it onto the cleat so it's a little more work but we got it done you can see let me show you here get the other one inflated this drift slot this is the easter one this is the big mama jama it's big this one here we'll put the brakes on a boat and get you down to a half mile an hour range when you are in 12 to 14 mile an hour winds on big water forget about that you really need to be running two of them i was just going a little too slow yes i did knock that one in here going back to my corner over here all right guys we're fishing we just fishing we ain't wishing we was fishing i'm wishing i was catching that's the one wishing i'd be doing right now so how would you fit shallow lake sandy bottom lbj in central texas it's amazing how many people have asked me about fishing in texas must be a lot of catfish people in texas i'm gonna have to go to texas and fish dude shallow water i ain't grow up in uh i i'm i'm you can drift shallow water and depends what you mean by shallow okay my idea of shallow when i say shallow i'm talking two three four feet of water okay that's my idea shella um and you can drift those areas it's just i think you do better anchoring and if you're going to drift them it's probably a good place to run planner boards uh but yeah i just i prefer to anchor up in them and you know kind of a pop and run kind of deal pull them to a place to fish it 30-45 minutes and then pick up and move and that's kind of my strategy for fishing those areas so uh 20 feet or less see i consider 20 feet uh medium range water um especially on our lakes so your music video is playing at the catfish conference yeah i wish uh that video is cool i i i was telling matt who put it up i said if i was editing that now i would edit it different and better but that guy that song if you play that song you will get it in your head it's the the guy who did it tez is amazing amazing talent um and can just come up with those lyrics and stuff and he's good he's good i i i wish i could just hire him to do a whole bunch of songs he can do a song about anything and the guy does not really fish here's the thing guys he wrote that song and he hits so many points and that's the thing with anybody that has talent uh musical talent artistic talent whatever his musical talent he was able he spoke with i think matt some other people there's some fishing but he just was able to encapsulate that whole fishing world into that song and put rhythm to it and it's like amazing amazing good stuff but anyway y'all check that out it'll be playing i'll probably put it up uh somewhere now that it's kind of out uh so yeah good stuff well let me say thank you for making me a better catfish angler that is gar's trophy chasing well thank you sir um i appreciate that it's humbling to hear that stuff it keeps it real keeps it in perspective and it makes bad days good to hear people say that kind of stuff and it's uh it's good i've said from the beginning in doing this that i think educated anglers are not just better anglers and catching more fish but they're better stewards of the resource and i think that is the most important thing about uh doing what we do and yeah if it makes you enjoy fishing and catching fish uh i know that you'll be a person who will you know be all for conservation not that you can't keep fish to eat it's not that's some sometimes conservation goes overboard in that direction but uh you know you do you you're a good steward you take what you need and you release the rest and don't rape the resource and all that kind of stuff and i i think pretty much you know i'm sure i've got people that watch my channel that may not do that but that's okay i think if they enjoy catching fish and uh like catching big fish i think sooner or later they'll come over to that side so that uh that's very nice you just say that and i appreciate it i should be making that is my second video on thursday well that's cool if you got a channel and are jumping into it and cranking out videos showing people how to do stuff is a great way to get some traction on youtube a very good way it's kind of the way i started out doing stuff uh-oh uh-oh what we got here oh is that gerhard from south africa what is it with south africa i'm getting traction in south africa uh i've had several people from south africa message me and it's kind of interesting from what i'm learning fishing for catfish in south africa is uh something they do there and there's people that pursue it and apparently they're using some of our tactics so what i'm gonna need to do is get online and see what some of the folks in south africa are doing to catch catfish because there may be something we can learn from that world so it's very interesting that there are people in south africa watching this i and i find that just amazing amazing so i appreciate you checking it out and uh letting me know where you're from and uh uh dealing with our uh uh my southern twang and everything you probably have to get a translator to uh explain what the heck i say and half the stuff so thank you and whoever threw up the five dollars was that i don't know that's uh that's michael thank you buddy i appreciate that i have a brand new bcf rod in need of a reel since i have not fished with yen what's your recommendation on the best reel for this rod uh depends how much you want to span i mean obviously i always say if money is no object uh then get you a uh you know get you an abu garcia uh 6500 i mean they're they're they're an heirloom reel they're great reels they'll last a lifetime you'll always have parts for them now you don't want to spend that much money i mean that's a reel that's going to be over 100 bucks if you don't spend that much money depending on where your price point is where you're at the pc fun reel uh those chaos see you know they're down in the 50 60 price range uh seems to be a very affordable reel there on that end comes with power handle uh good line capacity and then you know you can go up to like to lose lose is a bigger name a bigger brand name probably more widely available uh you know their son they're in the 70 ish price range so that's kind of the price range of stuff there and uh yeah you know i've got the ones all the ones i recommend i've got them listed on my website in the gear section uh the ones that are kind of the ones i use there's other good reels out there too don't get me wrong there's there's nothing wrong with you know probably the akuma pen daiwa all my good stuff i just have not used them and uh you know but again there's nothing wrong with them the ones i use the stuff i use it's in the gear section on petermelhornefishing.com and and i'll probably add some more to the mix at some point but i have a hard time buying reels i have so much stuff uh as it is it's not like i need it um and when i put something on a boat i like to put it on here and then pairs uh so that there's you know more than one of them uh just so that people you know uh so there's you know just not one of them because you're not going to catch fish on every trip so i like having a pair just some more of them get used uh i lose their website and it's basically blank steven's asking about ancient mary here's the thing with with ancient mariner um i love their stuff i love their reels you know they're one of the lower end price reels uh the bad part is what's the demise of ancient mariner is just having that portal to sell stuff having a website having a facebook page that is consistent and there all the time or something and that's kind of the tough part you know i've got links to their stuff and sometimes they work sometimes they don't so that's kind of the sucky part about it i will say this i've had two or three people um like the paul wore out in pinky and i reached out to him and got the replacement pawls and a worm gear for it that they sent another guy just talked to on the lake a few days ago had one that the worm gear world on and uh he actually had him sand it back and replaced everything in it so it's just that's the bad part is it's such a small operation that there's just not you know enough of that stuff to order fulfillment and all that kind of stuff and that's a that's a pain it's frustrating and hey you lose sales we're in a world where uh and i've told people that have sent me stuff to try out and demo i said listen um you know they'll send me i got some sinker sitting home and i asked the guy i said well when are you gonna have he said well i'm not gonna have that website up until april i said well i'm not gonna show these sinkers off i said because when people see them they're going to want to buy them and if they go to your website go to your facebook page and you're either not there can't answer questions can't fulfill the order they're going to move on to something else and uh you know i always tell people that make sure you have some stuff in them because some stuff depending on what it is you know expensive stuff isn't gonna sell as quickly but stuff like sinkers swivels hooks that kind of stuff it can move quickly people like it so i hope they get their stuff working but i think for the money they're real i've been running them almost five years now and you know outside of wearing a pawl out on one that's been it you know like i said that and i had them i had two of them smoked by king mackerel i should not have been using them to fish for king mackerel but they didn't come apart so there we go anyway let's see what's back in here hopefully my phone doesn't die in the middle of this i don't even know how much battery i've got left i'm gonna try to get a little bit longer here i'd love to catch at least one fish i'd love to catch a perch as long as i caught something sir and catching some cats on lake norman any of y'all that are wondering what does that say can't read the name um lake norman is the biggest lake of the catapa river chain it's in north carolina largest lake totally inside of north carolina and uh it was impounded back in the 60s has blue catfish in it home to the former state record blue catfish from north carolina 33 000 or so acres very clear water basically gin clear water most of the time unless you get above the highway 150 bridge there's your biography i'm like norman uh i would be if i was fishing norman now probably i'd those creeks above 150 are probably going to produce fish stumpy and rocky um any of those is probably gonna have fish in the middle of them because that's where a lot of the bait is relocating to right now uh and hagers creek's another one good one this time of the year mountain creek another good one this time of year to be catching blues in and you're probably gonna be in that 30 30 40 foot range of water in there i need to get like garment and fish now you got me wanting to go up there tomorrow gosh gosh any recommendations on electron song about this before it is my screen's going dark because this phone's getting hot i can't see the name but i see the question uh here's my recommendation recommendation on electronics i always tell people i use lowrance humminbird is great spend as much as you can afford to spend make sure you have mapping and make sure you have just traditional sonar if you can get size scan structure scan live view all that within your budget grade i think all of them are going to perform good i i think they're gonna give you what you need to catch fish uh those basic things the traditional sonar and but mapping charting whatever um that that is the most important thing i think to have so spend as much as you can spend you can get a lot of sonar unit for under a thousand bucks now but make sure you have the mapping and charting in there i think that is very very important let's see what we got here dude ricky's asking about aqueducts in central california dude i have absolutely zero uh suggestions or advice on that but i've seen people do it and man that is a whole different world out there if i ever become like super duper catfish youtuber let's see super duper catfish youtuber yeah that's kind of a rhyme i want to come out there and do that uh just to fish in some different places because that is a totally different world out there i ass the thing about what's weird about that is like there's such the way i envision them anyway i may be totally wrong in this but there's such lack of like structure or anything to it and i'm not sure how fast the water moves through them uh the ones i have seen are kind of sloped down is what i've seen people fishing in and there's always that sliding bank that you can slide down and i guess water levels vary depending on what's going on at all with them but yeah zero advice that's totally out of my wheelhouse uh but i got feeling i got a feeling some chicken will catch fish out there that's what i'm thinking that's what i'm thinking thanks for throwing that question out here i'll see what we got here so we got here are castable bank fishing fish finders worth the money here's the thing with a fish finder you gotta understand you're gonna see an area that is about a fourth the depth of the water okay so if it's a hundred feet from the top of the screen here to the bottom okay you're gonna see about a fourth up it's gonna be about 25 feet that's a bigger you're gonna see a 25 foot circle underneath your boat that's pretty big if you're in 10 feet of water you're gonna see something that's about that big so my point being depending on where you're at and where you're casting those things uh they may or may not be effective if you're only able to cast that thing out into six feet of water well you know you're looking at less than two feet on the bottom so it may not buy you that much is what i'm getting at so there we go do you think lifescope will ever figure in the catfish world absolutely it will and i think people who are really savvy and patient and dedicated and technical can use it now for catching fish especially when it comes to fishing around structure brush piles that type thing for flathead catfish i think livescope has applications there i think it will have more applications in the future as it becomes more and more detailed and what you're able to see in it that will be the biggest the biggest thing i again i i think we're gonna it's gonna get to the point where you can go yep that's a blue cat that's a channel catfish right there and i think that will that will definitely come into play i think we're going to see more and more catfish anglers become more and more technical fishermen i've already seen that in the time i've been doing it i mean what i'm doing is relatively technical compared to what you know they were doing when i started fishing tournaments and fishing for them because back then was pretty much park and prey you know park somewhere throw out some acres throw the base in the water and pray you catch something it's gotten more technical now with trolling dragging drifting using electronics contours following contours all that kind of stuff twenty percent of a battery so we're running out of time so so yeah i do think it will better do you think they can do any better than live step absolutely and i think they already have stuff better in life scope you know this is stuff that's going to be incrementally let out no yeah it will get more and more detail i think processing the processing is going to be you know it's just a matter of how much people want to pay for the processing to be able to do it to process the information quick enough i did uh some of y'all that don't know i do video production in the real world hover production company we did a thing on we went down to the east coast and went off the coast and filmed a deal on a sunken um confederate warship off the coast of wilmington and they had this submersible sonar thing that they dropped down and drag you know this thing's i don't know eighty thousand dollars and the detail they were able to get off of that was unreal to the point that you could see like hinges and stuff on there defined so the technology's there it's a matter of you know just having the processing and stuff that you need to be able to do it so do you think it do you think it will ruin the competitive sport well it's a good question um what's going to ruin the i say ruin the catfish well the price of competition is going to get driven up is what it's coming down to and that's already happening uh you know faster boats bigger boats you know this whole thing with nobody wants to reduce the fish limit uh now you have to have a huge live well on the boat so you know that's that's something that people like sea ark and express and stormcat they've um you know it's to their advantage to have these multi-fish tournaments because you need that big live well to put the fish in so that helps drive the cost up to you know carry those hundreds of gallons of water uh you need to have um you know a big motor to do it so all that drives the cost up and you know more technology more technology you know once it's you start having to have life scope to find fish around brush miles that will drive the cost up even more so it's a uh it's a it's an ongoing kind of you know thing that it's going to drive it up so long answer to a short question let's see what else we got in here [Music] man money more better yeah nascar's a good example when there was no reigns on the money listen you want to uh change the game and make catfish tournaments about you know um total skill okay if it's truly about skill a lot of people make the argument that well more fish it's harder to catch five good fish than one good fish you can get lucky well if that's your determination of skill then do this take the seminar units off of the boats and give every fisherman one rod you heard that right a catfish tournament where you get one rod no sonar unit that's skill so that's kind of my whole point uh really really really drives down the cost to a lot of stuff the more rods you use the more you have uh the more bait it takes the more bait it takes more time effort bond bait netting bait all that all of those little things incrementally drive the cost up you look at the tournaments tournaments are expensive dinner now so yeah it's it's destined to go higher and higher and higher let's see what's we got in here i'm gonna have to jump over here because my phone is about to die it's going dead this has been a nice nice nice long one how long have we been on here been on here hour and a half that's pretty good sorry we didn't catch any fish we had that one that was close but that's fishing i may try to do this again tomorrow so if you're not subscribed consider subscribing uh but yeah let me try to do this again tomorrow uh weather's supposed to be decent probably get to a different lake some different fishing hopefully catch something thanks for watching guys talk to you soon
