be repeated once every one to three months just to stay on top of your system maintenance to ensure that you are getting the optimal performance as possible at all times but first of all going to be navigating down to the bottom left hand side clicking on our windows button searching for percent temp percent then press enter you'll be launched into the windows temporary folder inside of this folder we're simply going to highlight all the way from the top to the bottom selecting all files and folders right clicking and selecting delete once that's then been completed exit out we then need to access another temp folder just like the last one but this time we need to navigate to the bottom left-hand side click on our windows button this time typing in run then pressing enter instead of this box we're going to be typing in just temp no percentage signs this time then pressing ok you'll be brought into another windows temporary folder and again repeat the same steps as last so highlight everything right click select delete and exit out moving on from there we can then delete excess windows update files which are still going to be sat in your system taking up resources for this we're going to navigate to the bottom left-hand side click on our file explorer head to this pc go into local disk c drive navigate down to windows proceed to scroll down to the s section and we're looking for software distribution double click go inside of the download folder and once inside of this folder we're going to highlight and select all files and folders with inside of here right click select delete select do this real current items and then hit continue once all files are deleted with insider there we can then continue to exit out we can then clear out windows prefetch which can be very useful especially if your operating system is now a couple of years old on your pc for this we can navigate to the bottom left hand side type run once again press enter instead of the run box we're then going to be searching for prefetch then select ok select continue and once inside of this folder all the way from the top to the bottom once again highlighting and selecting everything right click and once again delete you may be notified that some items cannot be deleted hit do this recurrent items then here's skip once that's been completed exit out the folder once again at this point in the video we can then jump into the windows disk cleanup utility to remove excess windows files for this take yourself to the bottom left once again search for disk cleanup then select the windows disk clean up utility instead of just clean up go to the drop down menu and select your c drive select ok before we change anything with inside of here take yourself to the bottom left-hand side select clean up system files select your c drive once again then select ok disk cleanup will then open up with a few more options available to you to remove extra files from windows the main option which you may or may not want to set for your system is going to be the windows update cleanup everything that's been selected on the left hand side is going to be removed when you press ok if you don't want to remove your windows update cleanup files you would simply deselect these you may want to keep them if you are ever planning on reverting back to windows 10 if you recently updated we're then going to proceed to check everything on the left hand side to make sure it's all been selected once that's done it will then tell you the amount of disk storage space you're about to clean then select ok select delete files and the windows disk cleanup utility will then run the amount of items you're going to be cleaning from your pc will depend on how long this application will take to run completely but it shouldn't take longer than a few minutes for this we're going to be navigating down to our windows file explorer once again once inside of the file explorer doesn't matter where you are take yourself up to the top to the view tab instead of you go to the right hand side navigate over to options we're then going to navigate down to the privacy section then select clear file explorer history click this button this will then remove all of the history and common files which you currently use from the windows file explorer which can help speed this up ever so slightly at this point we're also going to be making access of folders which you cannot currently see with inside of windows or hidden folders and this is a great opportunity to actually enable us to be able to see those in windows very quickly and easily for this take yourself to the view tab next to general once inside of here navigate down to hidden files and folders and select the show hidden files and folders section i also like to navigate down and uncheck the option for hide extensions for known file types once that's then done select apply on the bottom right hand side then select ok exit out the windows file explorer and we can continue on next up is going to be a quick cache fix and reset for the microsoft windows store built into windows 11. this is especially important for anyone that's experiencing slow download speeds or just issues running the microsoft store it's very quick simple and easy to do for this navigate down to your windows button type in cmd find command prompt right click and run this as an administrator select yes we're then going to type in the command ws all in caps reset dot exe once that's been typed out just like that select enter this will take a few minutes for this to take effect the way that you know this is completed is that the microsoft store will automatically open once it has opened the optimization has been completed we can now move over to clearing our web browser cache whether we're using microsoft edge google chrome or a different web browser most of the steps are similar starting off with microsoft edge users open up your web browser in the web browser navigate to the top right hand side to the three dots once inside of here scroll down to settings inside of the settings panel on the left hand side go to privacy search and services this step here will not be clearing out any cache but it's definitely worthwhile looking into to change the tracking prevention setting for your browser to tailor this towards your actual usage so read through these three options and change them according to how you use your browser once we're done with inside of that page we can then scroll down to the clear browsing data section never get over to choose what to clear you'll have your browsing history download history cookies and other site data passwords etc now you don't want to select everything with inside of here because this will stop any automatic logons that you have so when you head over to youtube.com or steam or any other websites which you use you may already notice that you're already signed into your account this will clear those accounts so you will have to resign in and sometimes people don't remember their passwords if you do not want to clear your automatic logins and your passwords saved to your browser unselect the cookies in other site data section make sure that passwords has been unselected unselect auto fill unselect all data from previous microsoft edge versions then select clear now but if you're like me and you know all of the data for the accounts you want to sign in on and that's not going to bother you i'm going to be clearing out absolutely everything so i'm going to be selecting everything but please do make sure that you fill this out for your requirements lastly once we've selected all of those options head up to the top to the time range and we're going to be setting this to all time once that's done navigate down to the bottom then select clear now for google chrome users open up your web browser head up to the top right go to the three dots once you've selected this navigate down to settings on the left hand side find security and privacy inside of this section navigate down to clear browsing data head over to the right hand side to advanced this is where you'll have all options available to you inside of this section all options that have been selected will be removed the only cache you may not want to remove from your web browser will be the automatic logins that you may already have so when you visit sites such as youtube or facebook or any social media you may already find that you are automatically logged in or already logged in if you want to keep those accounts make sure that you keep passwords and other sign-in data unselected because we don't want to delete that make sure you unselect cookies and other site data autofill form data needs to be unselected site settings need to be unselected and then you're good to go those are the options you want to keep off if you want to keep all of your current data but if you're like me i'm going to be clearing out all of my data select any and all options which are applicable to you once you've selected your options scroll to the top change this from last hour to all time then select clear data once that's been completed you can then exit out of google chrome lastly for those of you using firefox head to the top right of your browser to the three lines click this option then navigate down to settings inside of the settings panel head over to privacy and security on the left hand side this first setting does not affect your caching data within side of the browser but it's definitely worthwhile looking into you'll have three options for enhanced tracking protection you'll have standard strict and custom i would definitely take the time to look into these settings to change the setting according to how you use your browser and what settings you want enabled once you're done with the side of there proceed to scroll further down until you find cookies and site data head over to the right hand side to clear data you'll then have the options available to you which you can remove cookies and site data cached web content we're going to select both of those then select clear select clear now we can then proceed to scroll further down to clear history and if you want to keep all of your active logins such as your youtube login or other websites you may use if you don't want to have to sign into those accounts again make sure that you unselect active logins select the options which are applicable to you and to what you want to remove once you've selected all of your options head up to the top to last hour change this to everything once that's done select ok reboot the web browser and you're completed next up we can apply a quick network optimization to flush our dns to remove all of the old dns information which we may not use making space for new information and providing a minor network optimization for this open up the windows button once again this time typing in cmd right clicking on command prompt and once again running this as an administrator selecting yes once inside of it we're then going to type in the command ipconfig or one word space slash flush dns once you've typed that in press enter you should then be notified that this has successfully flushed the dns resolver cache once that's been completed exit out next up we're going to be jumping into the windows settings panel for this once again press your windows button head into the settings panel with inside of this option for this we're going to be navigating down to the bottom left to privacy and security inside of this tab we're going to proceed to scroll down to app permissions navigating down to location and clicking on this button navigate down to your location history towards the bottom then select clear once that's been cleared we can exit out we can now move over to clearing our gpu driver cache and this works for both amd radeon and nvidia gpus it doesn't matter how old new high or low end your gpu is we can remove all of the excess rubbish which is still sat in your pc of cache data built for games in which you haven't played in years starting off with nvidia users for this we're going to be opening up the windows button once again typing in percent local app data sent once that's been typed in press enter inside of the app data local folder we're going to proceed down to the end section we can then go inside of the standard nvidia folder where you'll then be able to find your dx for direct decks and your gl for opengl caches starting off with dx cache highlighting and selecting everything with inside of here right clicking selecting delete selecting do this for account items then selecting skip to any files which can't be deleted going back going inside of gl cache once again deleting all folders and files within side of here we can then navigate over to the left hand side to this pc click on local disk c drive but inside of here you should then be able to see a folder which is slightly grayed out titled program data you should be able to see this on your pc now because we enabled hidden files and folders earlier on if you didn't do that go back to that step and ensure that you have enabled that option to be able to see this folder double click and go inside of program data go inside of the standard nvidia folder once again and inside of this folder we're simply going to be deleting all files and folders just inside of this path once again hit do this all current items hit continue and any items that are currently being used hit do this recurrent items then hit skip with that completed and out of the way we can then go ahead and exit out for those of you running on an amd radeon graphics card it's incredibly simple to clear your cache simply right click on your desktop head to show more options head inside of the amd radeon software panel inside of the panel head up to the gaming tab in the top left hand side once inside of here then navigate over to global graphics once you're inside of the global graphics tab scroll all the way down to the bottom select advanced scroll all the way down to the bottom once again and right at the bottom you should then see the option for reset shader cache select perform reset then select ok after a few short moments this should automatically be completed you can then exit out of the radeon software for those of you that are steam users and have steam installed to your pc you can also never get inside of the steam application head to the top left hand side to the steam title click on this navigate down to settings inside of settings head to the download section at the bottom of downloads you should then be able to see clear download cache this is a fantastic option and if in the future you notice that you're getting very slow download speeds on steam definitely jump in use this setting as this could help you fix those issues steam will then automatically be restarted and the download cache will then be cleared to double check to ensure that all old windows update files have been removed from your pc we can also navigate down to your file explorer navigate into local disk c drive instead of your c drive if you do see a windows windows.old folder this is going to be your older version of windows which will typically be windows 10. again if you're not planning on going back to windows 10 at any time if this folder does exist on your pc right click on this and select delete once we're at the end of the video just to ensure that all files and folders have been properly removed from your pc take yourself to the top left hand side to recycle bin right click and finally select delete once that's then been cleared out to ensure that all optimizations have been set up correctly i would recommend taking yourself to the bottom left hand side clicking on your windows button right clicking and selecting restart when opening up new programs and games for the first time the loading times can be a little bit longer than they originally were as there is no caching data already built for them so you're now going to be building up your windows cache but you're only going to be building up cash on sites applications and games in which you actually use leaving too much improved performance in the long run on your pc if you have enjoyed this video and i'm happy with your results please leave instead of leaving a like and a comment for the youtube algorithm and if you're serious about optimizing your pc and have enjoyed watching this style of content be sure to check out the two videos on screen now
