how to be ed sheeran and to write lyrics like ed sheeran all you really have to do is reminisce about the past watch the clouds [Music] that's a good one how to sound like the weeknd in five minutes it's closer than i would have thought welcome back to another daily video my name is joe from rooney official and i just copyrighted your face whatever you do if you work anywhere your money is now mine because you're using my intellectual property which is your face thank you very much today we're doing something really fun we're gonna be looking at youtubers writing and singing songs in the style of famous artists and i'm gonna be deciding how accurate i think that it is i'm always excited to feature other music channels on youtube so if you like something head on over there subscribe to them let's get started here we got internet jewels how to write a billy isley song in less than an hour billy alex feels like a tough one let's see how she does basically to be billy eilish you need to put yourself in the oversized bubble coat of a moody teen who basically hates everything okay you're basically like an emo middle schooler meme that everyone relates to at a spiritual level it's not to dis billy eilish as an artist i just think that this is one of the reasons why her music sells so well pretty true the thing you gotta remember about billy alicia as well is that she often writes music in characters like she doesn't write stuff about her own life so maybe billy alice is aware that her characters are sometimes a little bit over the top a lot of bayless music comes down to the style as well though it's gonna be interesting to see how she nails that honey honey don't stay with me tonight don't stick around honey don't stick around tonight honey don't stick around tonight yeah i can see that i've got things to do i'll be over there don't come and find me like every lyric is like yeah i'm going through stuff you couldn't understand that is pretty on point actually dark humor that's so surprising it makes you laugh out loud if you wanna hold me down it might as well be at gunpoint if you want to share my crown off with your head would be fun boy you'll find my body inside a landfill she's very talented this is great internet jewels [Music] it's kind of a buzzkill i don't know i would say she got a lot of things right maybe the lyrics went a little bit overboard i couldn't really hear billy eilish saying some of that but a lot of it was really good and very talented singer gotta say next that we got more billy alleys we got steve terriberry which i just recently started talking to he seems really nice this video is how to be billy eilish what what did he just say roast beef okay so that was just a joke from my researcher here's another video from steve called how to be ed sheeran now every acoustic pop song is based off of a simple four chord structure for example you could be like [Music] be sure to get the little slap in there too like a little bit like the little now ed sheeran uses a vocal technique known as stalking which it i'm not done stalking is a combination of singing and talking that is something that sharon does really well i always feel like he's telling stories in his music as far as that chord progression i'm not sure how ed sheeran i feel like that is that particular chord progression isn't super common right now even in acoustic guitar pop we'll see so instead of just talking like i'm doing now you would breathe into your die a floogy woogie booga doo noog diaphragm but instead of singing you would just talk really really low and to write lyrics like ed sheeran all you really have to do is reminisce about the past or you know lyrics that are like borderline tree huggy and really outdoorsy i've done videos like this very similar stuff it's hard because you kind of walk in the lineup you want to make comedy out of someone's style but in reality i'm pretty sure that's the respectature and stuff it is really hard to write as good lyrics as etching does that's one of the things that i think it does really really well it's like you tried to simplify it and make it fun like oh you just have to reminisce about stuff in reality it's pretty hard to write something that sounds as genuine and heartfelt as something like ed sheeran would write let's see how he did he might have nailed it because steve is a very talented musician [Music] me my brother and my best friend that's straight up the lyrics though from an insurance song yeah yeah it's pretty much exactly the same thing it's like synonyms [Music] so this is very based off of insurance castle on the hill with that guitar and everything i guess it's more like how to write another castle on the hill it's good though [Music] it feels more like a parody maybe than a serious attempt which is fine we're gonna find that in a lot of these videos like there's a span that ranges from parody to really hardcore tryhard steve is a very talented guitarist as well i think he's more into rock music than pop so like one of those things that may not be down his exact ballpark [Applause] [Music] that's a good one i think it shares top qualities for me is his amazing voice and his lyricism this works well as a parody but of course you're not going to do it sharon better than insurance and that's fine i gotta apply that was really good a lot of effort put into that video funny explanations go subscribe to steve if you liked it okay here we go youtuber fleece music and their video how to write an alt j song this is how all jay makes music [Music] is nice so different from most youtubers me for example i get up i get ready i try to do my hair and fail miserably at least i try and they're like doing it on their lunch break [Music] you might think they are on the puff puffs [Music] that is a vibe maybe it's not the closest in the world but it's like unbelievably puff puffy they had some cravings and they decided to make a video and have fun and you gotta respect that by the way guys you may be worried because i'm on my fifth one of these right now but you don't have to worry because it's apple juice just like the merch link in the description if you want to be able to drink one of these and not make people upset we also got this pitchy zip hoodie out link to all merch in the description next up we got the youtuber edwan and the video is called how to sound like the weeknd in five minutes ooh the weekend is kind of difficult step number one create some depressing chords not tropical not happy not uplifting minor chords yeah that sounds about right nice he played one note though it's like nice that's not a chord that's one note come on man okay now he's got chords great yeah totally tag the layers so for this i'm going to use another citrus pad this is totally the weakened soundscape step number three add a bass like the deep one take the lowest note from your chord the fundamental from your chords step number five create sad lyrics did he just ask people on twitter i just found luigi in fortnite edwin is so fat i think he's gonna go blind he went to tilted towers to get a big royal but edwin is too fat and he's got a gold ar [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay he's using vocaloid for the vocals that is the hard part of the weekend because the vocals are very peculiar i wonder if he's gonna get close with vocaloid personally i find it hard to make vocaloid sound good there are a bunch of people who make really good vocaloid songs but you need to be very good at doing custom pitch stuff the final result he's gonna have yes it's closer than i would have thought for sure so much of the weekend i guess is in the production like the dark soundscape the reverb on the vocal like the type of beat it is you're like 60 there [Music] next up we got youtuber diane berry with the video every mumford and sons song basically so far so good [Music] high can sing real soft i can sing real loud too the chord and the vibe and everything and the vocals is so unpointed she left that is true they got that dynamic where the vocal that goes into the screaming thing he's nailing him i will wake up all my neighbors kids [Music] just kidding i wasn't kidding right amazing next up we have two videos that teach you how to make a post malone song you judge which one is the most accurate ooh first we got youtuber i am dices and the video is called how to write the post malone song in five minutes let's check i'm gonna be pulling inspiration from the songs better now and i'm gonna be and the massive eyes of those songs we're gonna need to beat to have a soft pad some guitar trap drums and 808 okay drums for the drums i gave it a similar pattern the better now it's a little bit simplifying to just take two songs from an artist and try to say that that is the artist's style but i can see why it's easier it's definitely something that i would also do and i respect that he said it in the beginning as well that makes it you know transparent he's a good producer for sure for post malone when he's not abusing the heck out of that vibrato oh classic post malone am i right you can find him rapping about loneliness just like tons of songs of him singing about how being rich is not curing loneliness it just brings a bunch of fake friends assets that includes cars designer clothes etc women you know you gotta write some tunes for the ladies a lot of this is just regular rap stuff that everyone does lastly pop culture references he'll reference like internet memes you know something like rattata yeah okay i have a feeling this will be really good let me with some memory i think it's better [Music] he's nailing those like bigger vowels up top pushed my little lobster oh stuff up top kind of like how emo singers used to sing i feel like post malone does like it brings a lot of that weight up top that was sick then we got a tick tocker music with edgar how to make a post malone song how to make a post malone song i gotta look the part real quick hold up look a bit like a black griffin when he was trying to do post malone compare that to my amazing amazing dress up first we need an electric guitar i don't have an electric guitar so we're gonna have to work with this it's good it's too boring throwing the drums [Music] time for the vocals one little secret about post malone he always goes like this he's definitely nailing the vibrato a little bit better than the last guy but that doesn't mean his song will be closer let's have a listen i just stubbed my toe yo that's a hit right there bro and you're done and you're done okay didn't explain anything i get it it's comedy okay so which one that i think was the best i don't feel like the tick tock guy had enough in there i just heard like the stub my toe thing so just because they did more i would have to say the first guy wins i am dice's wins but the other guy was great as well very talented guys i'm surprised that how many people they are who do really good music themed videos online now i felt like when i started out like 10 years ago doing this type of thing there wasn't really that many people out there i wonder how many of these people are inspired by me i'm getting a little bit uh i made this video called how to make a number one song without talent and it's basically the exact same format but i think i stole it from another guy so i definitely wasn't first it's the exact same cynical musician humor like do you practice any instruments if you do you're going about this whole music thing all wrong time stretching record everything much slower than the actual tempo of the song and then use a computer to speed it up like this this speed up technique is also commonly used by rappers who want to come across as faster than they actually are it feels so old to me now this type of way of joking it's very cynical and i don't agree that this is true i was doing it for the comedy i wasn't really like oh yeah this is exactly how it is but people took it that way i was a little bit concerned by that anyway next up we got another video by steve taraberry my bud and this one is called how to be green day now the basis to every green day's old green day song is a simple power chord progression you got your root note and then two frets higher on the string below it [Music] ah that's funny man he always puts so much effort into the music videos he's gotta give him credit it's so good [Music] so it seems like he got in another singer for this one guy that he could have gotten in that would have been even closer is my friend amazing i made some covers with him back in the day like this video right here and he sounds so close to these guys it's a very specific type of singing but yeah this is really close green day is definitely one of those bands that became a parody of themselves because they wrote a lot of music that sounded very similar so i think they're a very easy target for this type of [Music] video yeah that's all right with the vocal thing i don't know how you do it exactly like there's something very specific about the tone i'm not actually that good at sounding like billy joel that was dope steve terribary and guests very nice steve is definitely up there where the people are making the best musician content on youtube so go check him out if you want so many incredible musicians in this video am i right okay guys q here for my music commentary videos click here for music vs videos and i will see you tomorrow in another daily video go check out any featured youtubers that you enjoy links are in the description i really like the youtube musician community and i wanted to grow bigger bigger just like my
