[Music] this is moments like this hello everybody this is me and oh my goodness so many of you guys have requested to see this video i actually filmed it a few weeks back but um i have about 10 videos at the moment that i filmed that need editing so i'm getting through them guys but anyway for today's video i go and see joe stockdale again i went and saw him last year and so many of you guys um said that you wanted to see another video with um both of us in so anyway that's what today's video is we also did some challenges as well and went up against each other also met some of his new horses and things but recently oh my goodness over here in the uk has been so warm i've been living in my new tech teas which are nice and breathable and things just about to go for a hack with joey now it's the evening and it's a little bit cooler so anyway hope you guys enjoy the video hi hi esme hi how are you doing yeah i'm very good thank you how are you yeah good thanks we've got the song with us today have we yes lovely and so it's been almost just over a year now since um i last came here so thank you very much for having me again no no problem i've heard you've also got a few more horses since i last came here yeah we've got a couple of new ones uh we can go and see him if you like oh brilliant let's go perfect so this is tom um his show name is candleford he's a nine-year-old this year um and so we we saw him um he's actually come from david and matthew broome um he did a bit with them there and yeah he sort of came up we were sort of looking for a horse that could sort of fit into my top string and want to join those those other top blocks to sort of jump those international shows um and it was you know it was tricky enough to start he's biking and it makes him a little bit strong in the bridal yep um he's a little bit opinionated sometimes but he's he's such a friendly horse he's got such a lovely character um i absolutely love him and he's really really come on um and so hopefully you know when we can get back out to shows we'll start up again and and hopefully have a bit of success with him oh brilliant right so in here then we've got a couple of our younger ones which are out for the summer um give them a bit of time to grow have some grass and just relax for a bit and we've also got an old boys looking after the lot and then we've got our brood mess right so obviously we've got these couple of young ones and these brood mares um there's a couple of these brood manners that we've got are actually going to go in uh fall to romeo oh wow he's back at the yard he's actually been standing at stud this year so if you want to head over that would be lovely it'll be so nice to see them again yes lovely so who's this so this is angel we're just walking up to romeo and we're just past pasta oh and i thought we should probably mention so she's six year old this year um so she hadn't really done much as a five-year-old you know a couple little bits and bobs getting her started getting it going um but this year she's really really started to come into her own and you know actually lock down although a bit tough with going out to shows and things but actually in terms of being able to put a bit of time into these younger ones it's been fantastic and she really really has improved and i think hopefully one for the future she's going to be very exciting oh it's brilliant she's a lovely man she's got a lovely attitude um and you know really she's one of those who actually to learn she really really picks things up quickly and you know if you work on something one day and then the next day she comes out she really understands it so i'm i'm very excited that she how she turns out that's great all right so here's the big man hello oh he's so cool it is lovely i've heard you'd had some good success with him in spain yes yeah he was in fantastic form in spain um we went out there um started off our tour you know we had three weeks planned um and he you know he stepped up straight away first day we arrived he went straight into the 150 speed class because in spain you have to qualify for the grand prix in the weekend so it's quite you know with a lot of the classes and it's quite competitive um and he was just on fantastic form the whole time um and he went in there he was placed the first day in fact i think he was placed in far one every 150 you jumped there everything oh wow um speed classic jump so yeah he was in flying for me he really was and he just really stepped up he's only 15 too yeah only being little little guy so but he absolutely loves it and actually being able to get there in a big arena where he can really open up his stride you know even though he's small he's got a huge stride um and he just yeah he really did you know really perform there he just went ultra careful lovely and soft and really listening wouldn't fight me at all and i could just let him run and jump and because he's naturally quick we had a couple good results yeah so since coming back from spain uh we'd always been planning to do it but because of the situation everything now seemed like a sort of a sensible time too and we've actually decided to have him standing at stud which is very exciting for us we've got a couple mayors that we're going to put into him and then we've actually had a few people come along that want to breed with him as well so i think we've had five mayors already straight away in foal first time wow um and yeah he's uh you know he's a lovely stamp he's a lovely model of a horse okay maybe a bit on the small side but actually people want to put a bit of you know less height into a big man maybe he's absolutely perfect and he's definitely got all the quality there oh he's so lovely [Laughter] here we've got uh teddy dee dee's on that side just mugging you because he wants a bit of attention as well uh feeling very left being attacked yeah we're not talking about dealie so he's getting very annoying we'll talk about you later you want the attention don't you yeah yeah he's like a sport little child so this is teddy and we're actually going to give him a little jump to the pop-up over a couple fences oh nice um and so he's been here for a long time with us so he's 13 years old now we've had him since he was a six-year-old he's owned by our very long term owners and colin garrett who actually also owned tom who we met in the field earlier so they own both teddy and him um and he was a horse that my dad jumped for a long time numerous ranking classes lots of things like plenty of international shows um and so i've got him now uh he sort of stepped down he's sort of more uh established in a few of my younger ones which i've been jumping recently that have been trying to develop and produce a bit so he's had a little break but uh he's back now and hopefully we'll get him out to some show soon oh nice okay so joe why don't we go for a little sit down have a little bit of a catch up and talk about what you've been up to recently sounds great cool okay joe so tell me a little bit more about the sunshine talks obviously you had a lot of success there but also everything sort of happened while you were in spain as well tell me a bit more about how you kind of got back to england yeah so you know we actually had a fantastic couple of weeks at the sunshine tour that was sort of my setup for the year i'd go i went there and i really wanted to get the horses up and running get a bit of early form for them jump around a couple of those big grand prix um and you know actually it all went according to plan don diego didi he jumped double clear and both of three started grand prix um both weeks i was there like i said before romeo he was fantastic he was placed numerous times and then i took casuariel and tom as well and they actually they came along fantastic i was sort of giving jumping them in a couple of um you know not those top top classes but those next tier down and giving them a bit of experience around those international courses and actually did them a world of good to do a few weeks on the trot um obviously yeah we got cut short in the end uh a little bit of a concern while we were there it was quite funny because the first two weeks literally heard nothing about it you know we heard about what was going on at home but that was only through other people there was no news for us at the show yeah um you know we're kind of in little bubbles exactly yeah you're only a little bubble um and it was literally until the saturday uh i know it would have been the friday of the second week we were jumping they said you know hadn't heard anything up to this point they went right okay now we're cancelling the last week um we're not jumping on sunday so they held the grand prix on saturday and we jumped at them instead so was that quite a big shock then you're like oh gosh a little bit yeah we just had a couple hours sort of notice beforehand to say that this could possibly be happening so yeah you know it was a bit of a a bit of a shock we weren't quite expecting it um but then anyway so we we jumped on the saturday instead of the sunday uh we started to get organized get packed up we booked you know organize ourselves to get home in terms of stables for the horses and ferries and what have you um and then we left early early monday morning with unless we packed up sunday and left early monday in the early hours and set off to the north of spain um and actually first part of a journey no problem at all no issues got up there and we got to our overnight stop over we you know we sorted out the horses they all had some food a bit of a rest and just as we were about to go to sleep we heard no you know megaphones and because we're where the the stable swirls was on the top of a hill and looked down over the village and the town below and and so we all sort of woke up i think this is a bit strange and we looked down you could see they're physically locking down the town around us so people weren't allowed out there were police everywhere you know with microphones telling people to stay inside and so we had a bit of a panic because we thought well if we get if they come up to the yard and they'll close the gates we're going to get stuck in spain so with that we got back out of bed ran down we ran and loaded up all the horses as quick as we could and literally shut out the gates to try and um get through into france because i thought once we got into france we knew we could sort of get home um but we were a little bit concerned while we were in spain so we just about got out of there um you know like i said they were locking it down around us got over the border because they were saying that the border was going to be blocked oh gosh at midnight and so we just got through in the nick of time through there um and made it into france and then we drove up to le monde and so we had a bit of a long drive you know luckily we had a chance to give the horses a bit of a rest and have some food and you know lay down for a bit at least for them um but then what we did is in le mans we gave them an actual a bit of a longer rest and making sure that yeah you know they didn't want to be traveling for too long um so they had a rest there and then we set off we then couldn't get our train so we had booked the trains come home which is very quick uh shaves a couple hours off your time was a bit nice for the horse but he couldn't get so they had to go to the ferry and then actually this was the worst part of the journey is because obviously we got to the ferry train's all booked and we queued for two hours just to get into dover everyone just to get in just to get to the passport bit and then we had to wait a further three hours for a ferry because they cancelled and they were so full they couldn't get us on oh um so actually that was by far the worst part you know because you can't leave you can't do anything the horse you can't get him off and so that was i was pulling my hair out there oh gosh but luckily we eventually got on all the horses fine you know they're good travellers a lot thankfully yeah um and and so we managed to get over get home but it was a bit of a nightmare to be honest yes so the world is definitely a little bit of a different place compared to when i last saw you at olympia yes um so talk to me a little bit more about what you've been getting up to during lockdown well you know since we got back from spain those top lot you know we sort of gave them a couple a couple of weeks just a bit of down time uh didn't really see any need you know while we were fully locked down to actually have them up and running and actually so we gave them a little bit of break it jumped well in those two weeks in spain um and then what was actually quite nice it gave us a bit of time to focus on a few younger ones um you know we've got those four year olds out in the field we had them fully broken jumping around at course before we then turn them away five-year-olds got a couple of five-year-olds and and like we mentioned earlier angel the six-year-old as well um so actually we worked a lot on them i've been very lucky i've been able to go you know now that these uh the lockdowns ease a little we're allowed to go out and go to training i've actually been able to go down to the billy stud oh yeah i saw on instagram yes yeah oh it's fantastic um it's hard work when you're down there um i've been you know will and pip have both been fantastic and really really helpful pip's been having me right around on stirrups which is made me saw for a few days afterwards but uh it's actually doing my flat worker world of good and you know just trying to refine a few of those those skills i've got a long way to go yet but um no it's been fantastic to be able to go down to them and and have that bit of help with him okay so joe apart from doing show jumping as well you've also sort of joined the dark side as well since i last saw you and you've been doing a lot more on social media with your youtube channel your instagram your tick tock as well so we've actually been set some challenges we're gonna go head-to-head against each other so are you up for the challenge yeah sounds good to me [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay joe so for challenge one we have the who foil challenge so we're gonna go head-to-head against each other racing who can put the hoof oil on first on all four hooves so you've got romeo here who looks quite alert actually and then i've got frankie here who's um i think falling asleep so i think i might have the better horse here today he's looking relaxed romeo i think he's going to jump about when i'm trying to do it he's getting a bit excited so let's go great [Music] uh looking good [Music] okay so we have our official adjudicator floss here so floss how was my time well it's a fast and furious time 46 seconds it's not bad that's not bad okay it was joe's right jones quite quick and has an interesting technique yes i don't know if that's in the rules or not we're gonna have to come down you know is there gonna be a reader it was the first time of just 32 seconds oh wow but i'm pretty sure he missed a bit and you always look pretty look look romeo's back like that looks like a whole challenge no no no that's not a missing bit and there's quite a bit on the floor here as well joe oh it's a bit of a mess well yeah so i think it might have to be a tie yeah on to the next all right joe challenge two is the plating challenge so when did you last clap um well it would have been when i was at pony club so probably ten years ago i'd say to be fair i haven't planted for a while so i'm definitely out of practice so this one isn't on speed so you can take your time yeah it's on who can do the neatest plot so you up for it yeah let's give it a go see how it goes okay guys because i'm a little bit shorter and frankie's quite big so i have a little step that i'm gonna stand on for the plating challenge so at the moment i'm just deciding which sort of strand of his main i'm going to plat i think i might do this one up here because i don't have to worry because um here's a bridal path here i was going to do it down the bottom but um it's rubbed out a tiny bit so i think up here will be you know the best the optimum place for plating [Music] oh no please don't move frankie well there's my two ages so yeah right i think okay always underestimated what have you got on here my fingers are so big shrek fingers what's the verdict had a bit of an issue because he's missed some i don't know if you can see it on camera but solid effort and it's nice and straight yep could be a little bit skinnier but for not having done it in 10 years we're given that yeah it's pretty good okay judge mine then floss he's got he's quite tall but for a platter that is 10 out of 10 definitely pony club sandwich oh thank you yeah i think esme's won this one by mile you hear that joe [Applause] right so we are now down to our final challenge yes um we followed the theme of some shows like olympia and we've gone for dog agility nice out in our school here so we're basically half a kennel here with the amount of dogs we have on our yard so quite a few we we've we've both chosen the ride i've got izzy here i've got otis got otis um and so we're gonna do a little quick speed run three course three fence course um and whoever's the fastest wins game on all right let's give it a go three two one go come on in oh i've gotta run around come on up up yes this way we've come inside come on is up we're going around that way come on up up up way that was a speedy run onto what what no i saw her jumping the plank looping around here and in there too easy to go straight isn't it all right so i think joe might have done the course a little bit wrong so i think we're gonna have a little round two that was just a practice round three two one oh that was quick on assessment of course pan we've jumped that well i'm going to step on it okay [Laughter] here okay the times were close okay joe managed to finish in 9.8 seconds oh that's going to be tricky to beat and then esme so close that was 12.1 seconds oh well done joe thank you very much and i think that is the draw overall yeah we're gonna have to have another rematch sometime then joe yeah we're gonna have to so anyway we've done some jumping with the dogs is it time to see you jumping with one of the horses in action yeah we can give that a go cool let's go great okay so joe are you going to be riding teddy here now yep so we're going to uh take him out to the school give him a little pop over a few fences uh so that you can see him in action brilliant penny [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right joey thank you so much for having us over again also it was so lovely again to watch you ride um however i think we might have to have a rematch at a later date of the challenge because i'm not quite sure pouring hoof oil directly onto romeo's part of the rules just thinking outside the box that's what it was yeah that's what it was thank you so much guys for watching today's video if you're new or have not done this already please like and subscribe it really does help me out and i really do appreciate it also be sure to go head over to joe's channel and watch some of his videos i'll leave the links to all of his social medias in the description below thanks again for watching and i'll see you all next time bye [Music] you
