Hello, welcome back to another episode of TwoSet Violin. Today we have a very, very special episode, called... For those of you that have been to classical music concerts, you will know it is sacrilegious to clap in-between movements. That is right. You only clap after the end of the entire piece, and before the piece begins. Today, we'll be training this impulse... ...to clap in-between movements. Whenever the epic movement finishes, but it's not the final one, we'll sit through this together, and fight that urge to clap. And if you have a friend that hasn't been to a classical music concert, show them this video so they can practice... ...and then they won't clap. Yeah, just keep it together. Yeah, just keep it inside. *groans* Ohh, that was awkward... - She was like...did you see that? She was like... - She's like—she's like...yeah she's like... - "Guys, not now." - "Don't clap...!" The audience lost. Such...uncultured audience. But we didn't clap, so. Did you clap? Or did you... ...lose? Yeah, I want to watch that hand again, that was so awkward. Ohhhhhhh!!!! Her hand's just like, "Stop...! Urgh..." "Stop. Stop! Oh, no...!" That's in the Royal Concertgebouw... - Is it? - In Amsterdam, yeah. So it's like a really prestigious venue. - It's like the Carnegie Hall, but in Netherlands, in Amsterdam. - Oh... Not bad. - There is an urge to clap though, there is, huh, 'cause it's so... - Yeah... ...grandios— Grandious—is that even a word? So grand that...you wanna like, "Yeah!" - I don't know...yeah. - Did you clap? Or did you... - Awkward smile... - Yeah... I love how it just goes... Yeah...it's just like, "Alright..." It's a tricky situation. - So you want to show your... yeah. - Appreciation. There's meant to be silence between the movements, to kind of... - Yeah. - Let the sound kind of just... What was it a composer said, "It's the silence in-between the notes that matters." Was it Mozart? - Debussy...? - Debussy or someone. - Yeah. Mm-hmm. - There is a composer that said that. Dude! Dude, that was huge! *chuckles* For those of you who don't know, he's a violinist that end in the Sibelius Concertos all as octaves. - That was huge! - And the fact you can hear him over the orchestra, that is insane! - Oh I had to hold myself back there. - Yeah, literally. Oh... This is like...that is like world-class level. That was sacrilege. Nah, they're just having fun. Is it actually in the music to clap there? - I mean it's a tradition, everyone claps in that piece, but... - Yeah. I don't think so. *inaudible* If you clap for that piece in a actual performance, I guess it's okay, but since this is a training video... ...were you able to resist? Oh, I love this bit. - That was a hard one. - Yeah. It was a cool concerto. But they all lost. Did you clap? Imagine they all just go... Yeah, everyone's just like... You know, like every seat has like, a slapping machine... *chuckles* Yeah! A hand comes out, - "It's only first movement!" - Don't... *laughs* Oh, I remember this part! - I played it. Everyone's...and the conductor's like, - Yeah, everyone always claps... "No!!!" - Every time I perform this piece they always clap. - Yeah. *groans* The infamous troll from Tchaikovsky, what a prank. Ending the third movement like a last movement. - And the last movement is like a... - It's a slow... - Slow...second movement. - What a... All right guys, how did you do? You clap your lose.
