You Are Not Alone | Subnautica Creepypasta (Part 1)

uh i'm writing this for my friend's house where i'm currently staying because of the recent events i no longer feel safe at my own home or anywhere near its vicinity yet whereas staying quiet would probably be the smartest choice right now i still feel like i need to explain what happened maybe saving some people along the process um i suppose it all started when i decided to download a few mods for subnautica this underwater survival game i've been having a pretty good time with after watching some youtubers have fun with them the process wasn't too difficult and i managed to install all the mods i wanted but of course there's only so much she can do with that the modding community for subnautica isn't very large so it's quite rare to see any bigger projects added to the nexus website that's why it was that much more surprising when i saw them unlisted for the first time it was simply called npc survivors with a short description that promised to bring few of the other lifebot passengers who departed the aurora back to life as npcs naturally i was very skeptical i'm not much of a tech guy but even i understood that something like this would be a huge undertaking as far as i was concerned the mom was either lying or it would be really underwhelming what further supported this was that despite being a few days old it only had a handful of downloads uh but against my better judgment i decided to give it a go i mean it wouldn't be the first crappy mod i've tried after all now i should mention that i was surprised by the mod's size most only go up to a few hundred megabytes but this one was a solid 1.5 gigs forever to install too but it at least made me really curious about the contents i launched the game started a new survival run and uh well nothing they went through the cutscene get out of the pod and everything looked just normal that was mildly disappointing but well maybe the survivors are at their life pods using some nifty console commands i teleported myself over to a few and again nothing what was strange though was that number four and seven were nowhere to be found as if the mod just removed them well either way i couldn't find anything so after missing a bath for a bit longer i quit for the day and went to bed next time i jumped in was a few days later and of course by that time i had completely forgotten about the mod having just thought of an amazing idea for base build i loaded into the game and started working my way towards the grand reef everything was going just fine when something suddenly caught my eye i mean don't get me wrong there's a lot of things in the game that do that but this one really stuck out i swam over there and realized what i'm looking at it was a piece of a base finished only about halfway as of missing resources that's really odd i thought this was a fresh save file and oh my mind's only realized the mod perhaps it is working and i'm seeing something left behind by a survivor i mean my excitement was immediately back up to full level is this actually going to work naturally i immediately abandoned the base idea and decided to just do a regular playthrough since that's probably what the mod author would focus on as i went along nothing major happened but i started to see odd things here and there a cave with empty crash fish plants that i'd never been in a pile of discarded material that i swore wasn't mine i kept expecting to see the npcs or get something bigger but no that is of course until about 4 hours in i uh was returning to my base stacked up on resources it was not in the game so when i first came up to the hatch i couldn't understand why i wasn't able to enter as soon as i took a better look though the answer was quite clear my base was partially deconstructed as if i literally took the habitat builder and started taking it apart i had the resources on me to fix it of course only a couple of titanium but what on earth was this still the mod i started to feel really uneasy the flash of lightning outside my window at this point definitely didn't help i quickly checked around the base and not surprisingly there was nothing it only seemed to escalate in the following hours i noticed some plans for my planter missing materials i had stored around the map disappearing and then finally at one point my sea moth vanished i swear i barked it right outside my base but as soon as i went back out not five minutes later it was gone the icon disappeared right with it at this point i've had enough whoever's idea this was it clearly wasn't working with my playstyle and it was freaking me out on top of it i opened the mod manager and just like that the mod was gone good riddance i thought to myself for a second considering a negative review but i decided against it i'm sure you've already figured out that's not where the story ends um i came back to subnautica the next day to realize my base idea from earlier i decided to use the survival file which i used with the mod previously since i was quite well stocked up on resources there but after jumping in i found out that well my base was gone the whole thing just just not there at first i figured there must have just been something getting corrupted because i deleted the mod whatever right i'll just start fresh with the contents of my inventory over the next few hours i actually managed to build a few platforms top them with a couple of rooms and connect them through with bioreactors charging the whole thing i was just wrapping up the decorations in my personal quarters when out of nowhere that the power went out but not like you normally would if you just ran out of bioreactor fuel no the base just literally went dark confused i walked over to where i expected to find my bioreactors but i was just greeted with a solid wall yeah somehow that part of my base was now completely disconnected and that's um when i first heard it the sound was unmistakable the one i'd heard many times before and paid no heed and yet this time it made shivers run down my spine it was the sound of my base's hatch opening i followed by rushing footsteps in the interior at this point i was well freaked out how could this be happening curiosity got the better of me i slowly walked down the hallway hearing the footsteps below me until i reached the ladder now whenever i thought clicking on and jumping one floor below and just like that all the sounds instantly stopped no more footsteps no more running nothing i searched the whole place and didn't find anyone my fabricator did go missing though i wisp it up not gonna lie quit the game open the mod manager the mod wasn't there i uninstalled all the other mods as well jumped into the game not 10 minutes later my second cmos was gone i opened steam reinstalled the game went back only for half of my base deal missing about an hour in another lightning flash outside my window i i thought i was starting to lose it but that's when i saw it and this was two days ago it wasn't a special moment or anything i haven't achieved anything particular on that save file simply surfaced and there it was on top of the island standing looking at me i i guess it immediately ran inland i couldn't get a good look i tried to use console comments but my console wouldn't even open um oh i mean of course i had to follow i was half terrified half fascinated um yeah that fascination quickly disappeared when i found well i guess it was its base it was there plain as day standing between the trees i stepped in full of expectation only to see myself it actually took me a second to understand what i'm looking at it was a picture of me taken through my physical webcam framed and hung on the wall i just stood there for a bit unable to process like i said i'm not a tech guy but i don't think a game should be able to access your webcam without your permission safe to say i liked it even less when i turned around to find another picture of myself this time sitting by my pc taking from the outside through my window i left a place right after and will continue to stay with my friend for the time being i have no idea who could have created that mod or what their intentions are but i certainly won't hang it out to find out i'll try to post regular updates with how i'm doing um so you know i'm still okay if for whatever reason i don't report back either way don't download the mod if you come across it uh no matter what i'm gonna go now uh looks like another storm is starting outside goodbye
