Darin Morgan is the spice that always made the soup just right.
The Darin Morgan Canon (i.e. X-Files as a comedy-scifi miniseries).
Bad Blood is an absolute masterpiece! So funny!
And Scullyβs greatest hair day!
Yeep.
Anytime you have a "serious" show, when funnier episodes come along, they're freaking hilarious.
Bad Blood and Small Potatoes are each clever and so so funny. Both Vince Gilligan eps, no? But for me the funniest moment in the entire series is shoehorned into the otherwise forgettable episode terms of endearment (6X7). Round about the nine minute mark, Deadpan Scully! is put to the test. She passes, of course, but I donβt know how. I watch that little filler scene every once in a while when I really need cheering up...
Mulderβs mocking grimace at 7:37 gets a laugh out of me every time!
I agree with the posters here Morgan. Without humor it's not the X-Files but something else.
the x-files at its best were almost a black comedy. some of the best episodes, especially the standalone "motw" eps were super funny. bad blood is the first one that always immediately comes to mind for me. even in later years when the show started taking itself way too seriously, they found ways to work in a good bit of humor. triangle is one of my favorite episodes of season 6 and while the device of that ep was the long sweeping "takes", i remember it for just how much humor they packed into it. especially with 1939 "scully" because they actually let gillian anderson use her comedy chops in a fun way.
