[Music] ladies and gentlemen boys and girls Trailblazers and Trail blazerettes gather around and prepare yourselves for tonight we journey once more into the design Gazette the show where we get to explore the most withering the most wavy and of course the most jiggly aspects of your favorite characters designs tonight on the show we have not one not two not even three but 18 characters and a whole video game on the design Gazette that is right ladies and gentlemen the tides are rising and the show is expanding because tonight we're talking about wering waves the next big anime open world the most pristine jiggle physics simulator and maybe even the roomid Gin impact killer but will it really fulfill these promises only time will tell what I can tell you though is all about the visual design of this game and let me tell you it is one fine looking game from the imagery to the world to the character design this game just has something that pulls you in if you catch my drift but before we get into the nitty-gritty I must engage in the sacred YouTube tradition of asking for your subscription along with the Ring of notification Bell a like a share The Unborn fetus of your child and maybe even a comment if you're feeling feisty but without further Ado let us dive into withering [Music] waves now typically when diving into a game's visual design you usually start off with well the visual but here at the design git I like to keep you on your toes so we're flipping the script today and starting with audio instead unlike visuals sound isn't Shackled by gameplay or Hardware limitations giving us a pure unfiltered Taste of the developer's vision and here is the vision in [Music] question it's dubstep it's in it's a bang Over soundtrack this is exactly what I expect out of those pgr divs I'm so pumped to get into [Music] this hello yeah this is the Crusader oh the soundtrack oh you're you're telling me this isn't how it usually sounds like so what does this game usually sound like [Music] it's quite the contrast isn't it many have grumbled that the music here feels rather low energy when compared to games like punishing grey Raven or genchan impact but I think there's a method to this musical Madness pgr leans heavily into action while leaving a little room for those ambient tracks while genin's world is much more Fantastical and cheerful with instruments that naturally exude energy that stick with you withering wave soundtrack however takes a very different path it's slower and much more deliberate at first glance it might seem homogeneous but give it a closer listen and you'll discover these beautiful futuristic syns blended with tender instruments creating a melancholic tone that only makes sense when you look at this world wrecked infrastructure ruined cities and other worldly entities now inhabit what once belonged to humanity welcome to a post-apocalyptic world where Humanity lost the battle civilization crumbled forcing us into these sealed in closures for survival so as you explore this world it only makes sense that melancholic music would underscore your journey reflecting all that we've lost peace progress lives all snatched away by these otherworldly forces it's only when you directly face these other worldly adversaries that the music shifts gears synths transform into beats soft strings morph into metal guitars and the hunter now becomes the hunted a running theme in this game is that everything Supernatural carries a musical Motif the main enemies are called discords the world is rened in retroact rain and the root of all of it is a lament all musical references adding to this whenever a character uses their Supernatural Powers it activates a ruin on their body that resembles a spectrogram thus whenever you face the supernatural you not only hear it through the epic music but also see it physically through the various musical motifs and visuals and when there is no music to be seen there are no enemies and all you have left are the ruins of humanity and a tinge of melancholic tones in my opinion it's very deliberate and a very clever choice of creative Direction in terms of the post-apocalypse itself however we've seen many games tread similar ground a world where Humanity may have lost but still survives and even advances his technology to cope with this new reality examples that come to mind are Horizon zero Dawn Stella blade and of course near autometer however the game I specifically want to direct your attention to is a lesser known title you might have heard of Called Death stranding [Music] it's actually surprising how many Design Elements withering waves and death stranding have in common the occultic enemy design the enclosed settlements and the eroding rain hell even the soundtrack has similar Vibes nevertheless I would specifically like to focus here on the clothing like withering waves the world of death stranding takes place in a distant post-apocalyptic future with many Supernatural environmental hazards that the characters have to survive with the character designer Yoji shink power knew that the main hero Sam was a delivery man that had to Brave the elements and wanted to create outfits that were durable and form fitting taking real well inspiration from Brands like acronym to create a style that was modeled after a fashion called techway techway is a fashion subgenre that combines futuristic Aesthetics with practical functionality much like military grade gear professional sports way techway utilizes breathable materials seamless stitching and Advanced Technologies to maximize the wear's mobility it answers the primary question how can this clothing make my life more comfortable or efficient to this end the style often adopts an ergonomic design to ensure your movements unrestricted while also incorporating elements that allow the design to adapt that's why many of these designs feature Pockets lockers clasps straps and other useful accessories that enhance functionality additionally techway boasts unique design cues such as streamline seams geometrical patterns and monochromatic coloring giving these clothes a distinctly futuristic and cyberpunk look this is where we begin to see the foundation of character design in withering w the core outfits of the cast look comfortable and form fitting with carbon or matte finishes that emphasize material quality these base designs are then enhanced with tertiary colors and unique flares specific to each character it's no mistake that every one of the cast has either black or white as a primary color in their design as it's built on techway the best Showcase of all these Design Elements coming together can be found in the male characters designs namely Alto Geon and Cal each of these fine gentlemen is clad in sleek black breathable tactical Under Armour along with belts pockets and straps with the techway foundation established their personalities then shine through with their outer attire Alto Sports carbon fiber arm braces and biker goggles that accommodate aerodynamics slap on the teue Poncho winded hair and goofy smile and you have a man that's comfortable going at high speeds gian's design features cuts on his back and underarm specifically tailored to allow freedom of movement with his spear coupled with draconic imagery in the aesthetic of a Chinese hanfu and he's atti evokes the appearance of a 2099 dragon war god finally we have who epitomizes this game's version of a barbarian but instead of a Loy cloth and bear chest he's rocking a dozen belts and a skin tight Metal Gear armor and while we are here I would like to take a moment to praise this game's visual Fidelity because even though from a distance these designs look simple zooming in close reveals a lot of minute details and textures the only reason the techware aesthetic can work is because of how you can see all the little seams and even distinguish between different types of materials by how light reflects of them take for example Yan Wu Mory and Mel rovera whose designs are much less combat focused but more indicative of their personalities Yuan Wu is a gentlemanly silver fox decked out in the classic three-piece and top hat but thanks to Tech wear his outfit has been deconstructed repanel and inscribed with geometry and might I just say having an older gentleman with a beard and turtl leg is incredibly refreshing for a gacha game but if the cool old grandpa Vibe isn't your thing maybe the grumpy sleep deprived mortify will catch your interest from his lab coat to his fabulous glasses and the vials on his belt his design screams scientist yet it's the smaller details that truly reveal his character his temperament is evident as unlike Jen or Yuan Wu he doesn't bother to conceal his dragon scales additionally his relaxed nature is highlighted by his choice of a kimono style shirt instead of a traditional White Collar this brings us to M rovera who exudes smoking sexy style the sheer Simplicity of his design is what makes it so effective naturally starting with a techway base he Sports a high neck breathable t-shirt and intricately detailed pants these are the exent with bits of yellow in his pouch and dog tag but where it truly comes together is that jacket because that jacket is sick as a fan of biker jackets I can't help but admire how it compliments the techway underneath while also giving him this unique silhouette making it easily one of the best designs in the game leave it to me but I've gushed enough about the male characters it's only fair that the ladies get their moment too yangyang our guide and first companion in this world embodies The Girl Next Door Vibe the Beret is a nice touch but where design truly shines is her techware skirt articles intricately weaved together with belts and straps to form a stunning silhouette here something also worth mentioning and common in many of the gingo female designs is the Chinese sty chipo color which our next character dungeon also has in fact much of her design has Chinese Inspirations from the buns in her hair to the silhouette of a dress to her tassels everything has an oriental touch to it I would tend to describe her overall look as that of a Chinese doll especially with how a petite figure gets lost in the oversized dress how her socks fold over her shoes and how her bows line take away sleeves but she's not the only cute red head in this game as we also have chisha who looks like the only post-apocalyptic character in this post-apocalyptic world she rocks a tomboy look with short hair shirt tied around her waist and a sporty Tech wear look plus the asymmetry in her design and bow in her hair give her this Carefree look that perfectly matches her energy and makes her quite distinct from the rest of the female cast on the other hand if you want to talk about characters that are less distinct I would point you to secretary Sun okay I might get some Flack for saying this but I got to be honest and say she probably has the most forgettable design in wering waves wait wait wait wait that is actually the point of her design s works as a spy whose whole stick is not to be noticed hence the all black minimal outfit however despite her occupation the developers do manage to sneak in some character with a beret beads and eye not to mention the details on her skirt are second to none and its silhouette which makes her look really Dynamic during combat again the whole point is to be discreet by hiding her personality in contrast though we can look at three other characters whose designs are bursting worth personality but are almost avoid of the techway aesthetic that has permeated the game so far I of course talking about ano lingyang and Vera each of these characters draw inspiration from specific cultures like flower girls Lolas and Chinese lion dancing nevertheless they do stand out which can be explained Away by the fact that they are all kids and don't regularly venture outside to face the post-apocalyptic world though the developers have made efforts to ensure that they still fit into the game's World by using a more monochromatic color palette high-tech materials and some Modern articles of clothing like bags and fingerless gloves taking another breather here I'd also like to comment on this game's implementations of proportions no no no not those proportions not yet I'm talking about body proportions while the faces are definitely anime-esque the body proportions here are much more realistic and grounded heads aren't overly large Hips Don't bulge out and limbs aren't reduced to stick figur is much like how modern Final Fantasy games created a photo realistic fantasy withering waves strikes a balance between anime and realism for the most part now let's talk about those [Music] proportions in Lin and Baer are all stunning ladies with exquisite character designs but let's not kid ourselves we know exactly why we are here gentlemen da Sports a cutesy white and pink aesthetic dress with kimona style sleeves that contrast well with her armored shoulder and teear Boots however the most memorable aspect of a character is by No Doubt The Bouncing castles that float near the midsection of a design contrary to popular belief though there is such a thing as too much wobble and as you mature you begin to realize that true jiggle physics do not defy the laws of gravity rather they gracefully float like a butterfly and sting like a bee this is where in Lin and Baer make their presence known in Lin Don a black F fatel Chinese chipo adorned with chains makeup and violent red hair to complete their dominatrix look which only compounds when she has some of the best facial animations in the game in typical withering Wes fashion there are also elements of tech way such as the texture of a clothes and the Hightech strings for a puppet however the best elements of a character lie beneath the surface her ultimate move aptly showcases her assets while adhering to Crusader's first law of jiggle physics floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee while this is impressive what I personally find more remarkable are her lower regions where she shares many similarities with Baer Baer is is the Cinderella to inland's evil queen her base design starts off with the familiar Chapo but it branches out with detached lab coat sleeves and high heeled boots her look is further accentuated by a cool color palette affluent accessories and subtle makeup giving her an elegant and Wealthy appearance her fashion sense alone is impeccable and when Crusader's first law of jiggle physics kicks in she becomes worthy of a goddess however what truly has me on my knees is her ultimate animation dear viewer there is something I must confess in regards to female Rover I am a man of the thigh a simple man with a simple path I crave not the plump derri a nor do I seek the holy jugs instead I yearn for the simple thickness of the femur yes they may not sway nor shimmy with the wind but instead they symbolize something pure something ethereal something beyond our comprehension a Gateway akin to the dreams of men and the birth of Life the origin of our species and the downfall of our rationality you may not realize it yet but like me you are also a man of the thigh so join me brother let us spread the good word of the thigh to those who are lost in the darkness let us rise up and embrace the way of the femur and and Proclaim it thick um forgive me Crusader of the thigh Church took over for a second and now that I've wrestled back control let's move on to the final character and the reason why I felt I needed to make this design Gazette I am janin the successor of fang Tren let's have a about sometime soon shall we now I don't even know where to start with this character because everywhere you look it's just so well thought out and stunningly designed so let's begin with just how lovable this girl is she has a forever cheery expression D eyes funny AOG which she whistles with and a fish out of water demeanor not to mention her twin tail hairstyle gives her a unique silhouette that makes her easily distinguishable from the rest of the cast this brings us to the central theme of a design the yin and the Yang yin and yang are Concepts originating from Chinese philosophy that literally mean the dark side and sunny side of a hill the concept describes how seemingly opposite things are actually complimentary and deeply connected to each other dark and light Earth and Heaven death and birth all exist in a delicate balance whereby each one defines and complements the other they are the rhythm of the tides the cycles of the seasons the interplay of light and Shadow one cannot exist without the other for they are two halves of the same whole Yin is dark cool and feminine characterized by elements such as water and the moon on the other hand Yang is bright hot and masculine defined by elements such as fire and the sun together they create Harmony and balance in the world the world here being Jun Shin's design you can spot the yin-yang symbol on her earrings belt and on her bags more important the symbol is built into the structure of her outfit the left side is colored black with a white button in the front while the right side is colored white with a black button placed on her back additionally her two gloves have contrasting black and white colors to their respective sides along with her pair of bags that are similarly dual colored for further nuances we can also look to the jade green detailing that adorns much of a design in ancient Chinese this color was known as ching and was associated with health prosperity and Harmony not only does this characterize her role as a tanky healer on your team but it also reinforces the theme of Yin and Yang symbolizing prosperity and Harmony all of this is enough to easily call her the best character in withering waves but it goes further still because a design is the embodiment of this game's entire design philosophy like previous characters Jen Shin's design incorporates many takeaway elements such as belts p is subtle seams and Hightech synthetic clothing materials meanwhile her personality and fighting style are shown by modeling her clothes after taichi Marshall Arts uniforms this keeps in line with the game's theme of starting off with a techware base and incorporating unique elements that suit each character's personality but what's interesting here is how each side of the equation is colored when viewed from the left all the techway elements are sleek black and form fitting creating a futuristic appearance on the right side The taichi Inspired segments are pure white and soft after embodying the look of a woia fantasy martial artist seen from opposite sides it almost appears as if they are two different characters however when viewed as a whole it becomes clear that these are two halves of the same person a concept that feels familiar doesn't it much like John Shin's design black in the world of withering waves is representative of techway and by extension the technological future humans have had to invent in order to survive this post-apocalyptic world like Yin it is dark cold and unfeeling yet it is what enables us to survive but what truly makes us alive is the Yang known as our Humanity our Yang lies in art culture personality and the ability to make others smile both technology and Humanity are intertwined in this post-apocalyptic world where one cannot exist without the other Humanity may have lost this world but this world has not yet lost its Humanity these characters teach us that life is a symphony of opposites where joy and sorrow strength and softness past and future all have their place and all have their purpose because in the black there is always some white in the wrong you will always find something right and when faced with Darkness there will always follow light so to the ground that [Music] I and that is a wrap on episode 13 of of the design Gazette if you liked it for the future of withering waves on this channel I don't think I'm going to be doing specific individual design gazettes for the characters well it does depend on the characters rather I'll be doing these more patch 1.0 patch 2.0 design Gazette reviews just going through each character and seeing what they bring to the table but nothing like starl because as good as the designs are they are not
