[Music] [Music] hello everybody and welcome to worst games games ever ever it's the show where we play terrible video games sent in by you my name is ben my name is peter peter we have a couple of different roles on this show they alternate every episode this week because i am burdened with the responsibility of enduring the terrible video game i am this week's games victim this is true and this week because i am burdened with making you suffer a dear friend of mine as you are ben i've got to make you unhappy and it it kills me it kills me every four weeks does it yeah does it though uh i am the games master which means i've brought along the game and not only that i've brought along some hot and fresh science facts about the game which will oh brilliant allows to learn on the job like some like like uh like an apprenticeship or something so i've got to suffer and learn at the same time yeah exactly that it's like a pe class awful sounds awful what am i playing this week you're playing something about as far from pe as you well and maybe not uh you're playing ninja bread man on the nintendo wii whoa on the nintendo wii that's the first official weest game we've ever done it is isn't it we did a live streamed one um last week at time of recording um which is available on youtube but this is the first sort of proper edited episode we've ever done with a wii game uh my god it's it's a it's a gingerbread man ninja and i guess you know ninjas they're sort of they're probably good at pe so i think it's still related yeah yeah sure i imagine yeah i'd like to believe that they are good at pe well there's only one way to find out then yeah i suppose there is should we uh should we uh you know uh shall we uh uh uh yeah yeah let's do that okay oh lot of logos here awful lot havoc it's almost like it's this game is 90 logos yeah oh here we are oh look at this it's very quiet what do you reckon the background is made out of i can't tell if that's several layer of ginger but like is everything edible here i don't know because that implies that like if you're the gingerbread man and you live in some sort of candy land then is that not sorry can you just censor can you censor that at the back please yeah let's see absolutely disgusting um surely like the whole world is sort of made of flesh for the gingerbread man it's uh it's awful it's like that meme the gingerbread man wakes up in his gingerbread house is he made of house or is the house made of gingerbread man he does not know exactly that yeah yeah okay uh press a to start oh there's a bee i'm gonna have to go a bit further back for this oh do you hear that i i definitely hear that it sounds like your chair's creaking in the background this is probably working as intended right it's like it's like the intro of the fox 20th century fox theme i've got i keep having it right i'm gonna have to go back when i'm using this and then i'll come back close again uh let's go with look how evil those bees are oh oh there's a filthy profiles logo there as well um oh that it yeah we're gonna have to blur that too yeah awful i don't know what's going on back here as well that that looks a bit that's the trio over there yeah yeah as it is there it is again sorry about blurring work awful um should be disgusted ninja bread man is a platform video game by developer and publisher data design interactive um you may or may not remember them from other worst games ever episodes oh oh are you enjoying this music did i comment on how evil those bees look by the way i was certainly thinking it yeah yeah you did you did say how evil those look and i'm sorry that everyone just saw my volume control pop up then i didn't realize that also capturing the recording it's just really loud in my headphones so ninja bread man was published as part of data design interactive's popcorn arcade brand of wii games which also featured billy the wizard rocket broomstick racing no it didn't and not that guy action girls racing as well oh my so they're a repeat offender worst games royalty these guys yeah training dojo dojo i'm doing it i'm doing it ninjabrad man ben this game was yes ninja bredman this game was released on ps2 and microsoft windows in europe in january 2005. and then a port for the wii was released two years later um in september 2007. so it's an older game and then it gets ported um wow how's it controlling for you not great and this is um people who pay attention to our channel will have seen that hopefully recently a video went out where i played a lot of wii games in one sitting and i have come to the conclusion that as bad as a lot of those games are they're just doing the best they can with the with the peripherals because this nunchuck is horrible it's not full 360 degree it's segmented so yeah it's got one two three four so it's an octagon shape oh yeah the octagonal thumb sticks yeah so you can't point it freely in any direction then you've got the wiimote motion controls which are absolutely dreadful as it is yeah so there is a button to jump oh look there's two thirds of a triple jump there oh there is yeah do you want a close-up of him oh i'd love one yeah just push push the camera right up to the wall i'm trying there's no camera control so uh so you got it oh there it is that is it okay let's continue i i am absolutely not using using that gesture to jump because it will be okay so i have to i have to yank the nunchuck up twice to make it do two thirds of a triple jump or i can just press the the zed button oh is that an option yeah so i can just press the z button or it's good but obviously it wants me to do it so i think this hello bud you're right it's just telling me the same thing okay so this is where i first test it out um and again yeah okay i've got it thank you this is something else i've discovered with wii games is that because the motion they make you use motion controls it can throw it all off so if i'm holding forwards and then have to jump as well i can i end up jumping at like weird angles oh yeah for sure yeah you know sometimes they'll make you use the wiimote as a pointer and yeah and you and then they make you shake it to get an enemy off you or something and then your your camera just goes mental because yeah it's awful i'm i'm not gonna i'm just gonna use the button to jump i'm not gonna well i'm i'm pleased for you that there is a z button to jump because let me just move on to a later fact yeah the game is essentially identical to anubis 2 and myth makers trixie in thailand which are just the same game but rebrand like reskinned into different themes so trixie and toyland it's it's just this it's a little character like a big head who is instead of in a candy land in a toy land instead it's like twice wow well once you've got it together you might as well just sell it again and again exactly and anubis is a sort of ancient egyptian themed one with little mummies all the enemies in these games look the same but again are just re-skinned they're all sort of short squat little things um look pick panther biscuits yeah they're sort of pink panthers and there's a jammy dodger up there too with the number two on it god there is yeah looks great but uh i heard that on myth makers trixie in toyland you could only jump with the nunchuck um oh really yeah i don't think zed was an option maybe it was well i'm i'm very grateful right okay now i've got to swing it left and right the wiimote to do a slash yeah is there an oh oh what is this oh oh that's my that's my throwing gingerbread yeah really far back for that oh oh the camera's moving on its own which isn't huge yeah i can i'm just it hasn't even told me how to do this yet i'm just testing it out right it looks like i've got to i've got to swing the wiimote to do my sword unfortunately okay oh oh my god okay are they are they woolly yeah what they mean oh i can push them around yoshi's woolly world aren't they oh this one's coming for me oh oh it's trying to bite me it's a sort of cookie cookie bun thing cookie bun thing yeah made of wool the wooly cookie bun swing what are you doing okay great well this is another issue we're gonna have some fun here today i'm sure does it doesn't bloody work for a start there we go yeah you really this is why people get like injured while playing wii games oh look at him jittering along because you have to exaggerate your movement so much just to make it register and then other times you have you do nothing at all and it goes oh you're shaking it i'm not you can see why they uh had to include the wrist strap because oh yeah and people did used to just break their tvs especially in the other they really did also you can't run upstairs because you know why we no no that don't be silly yeah who's this oh it's this guy again right what are you going to teach me now you're going to teach me through yeah you're going to teach me the throwing stars oh wow this looks horrible oh god they're bassets whatever the hell they're called yeah it does lock on a bit and that's not so bad they're like bassets with little little campinos on top do you remember campinos oh yeah they were really good they were like grandma suites but for young people yeah they were nice they tasted like strawberry and cream yeah is that them yeah yeah exactly oh god oh what on earth is going on here help what did i just open did i just open it oh is that the end there's only four mechanics worth learning they're all oh no you can't get is this it it's not numbered oh yeah there it is it just stops now can you return to the main menu please because before we get much further what i want you to do is try and find the load menu i'm not exactly sure where it is it might be profiles i guess or options or um we've completed 25 percent of the game this should be a different menu to to the load one or maybe it's different on different platforms um oh well that's a shame but i can i can find footage of this because i have corroborated i know that this is a true thing but maybe it's not when we right um the load menu for this game i guess on a different platform um illegally uses the shrek gingerbread man what you know the character the gingerbread man character from gingy is just standing there on like the the different icons for your four different save slots he's just standing there how have they gotten away with that well i don't know if they did evidently when this came out two years later they've been instructed to remove it take it out oh my god they just they just you used a gingerbread yeah png that they found on the internet yeah pretty much png so this weird contraption here can contraption trapped contractor tron um is oh god absolutely like for like just a reused asset in those two other games that i talked about like that whole weird looking thing is just in all of those games um oh look out for the victoria's sponge cake i'm trying to use my my ninja stars but i don't have any i won't let me aim properly all right oh look at your health wow yeah oh god he's still alive how much health does this have oh man maybe they're not on the fence of what oh they are there we go well there's nothing up here glad i came up here bit dingy for a candy land isn't it really yeah it's just a bit brown and boring and dark in some places i love that really straight edge on the platform you're on the way where it meets the wall it's just exactly it's like the cookie that's at the edge of the tray okay was there enough please don't spit at me i've got oh oh whoa oh i died and it just reset me i think is this where i went this is where i came from i'm so so not not having a great time oh hang on is this a new one or one i've already had oh it's not restarted yet has it yes it has oh it has it has fantastic okay you've only you've got five hearts and two g's yeah there is no point in pursuing combat in this game whatsoever yeah i think you're right it's just better to dodge everyone there's a lot of hud isn't there by the way for a game that's so basic yeah it's almost like it's an awful lot going on really bad yeah i only got four more to go it's fun isn't it thank you grandma it's really fun yeah you like gingerbread ben don't you yeah thanks grandma grandma you've got one of those nintendo pisses haven't you yes grandma thank you grandma i would have preferred a real gingerbread grandma yeah i think i would pleasure for one minute while you eat it rather than torture for half an hour yeah this is uh one of those games that was almost certainly in a bargain been at tesco for several years yeah that's probably how we ended up with it isn't it yeah yeah as it was someone found it in a bargain bin where where are you taking me arrow oh there's a hole there oh that's a very good spot there it is oh there's a furious bee oh god it came right at me did you see that oh my god i did there's another one up there no get it oh can it hurt you during cutscenes no it doesn't look like it thank god it's like rascal all over again it is checkpoint just the flying enemies making it ten times harder oh look at the floaty kooks oh what did i just take damage yeah they're explosive confectionary every so often it doesn't doesn't really warn you about them but they do they are they are be do like that go away this looks familiar oh you got victoria you would have thought as a piece of confectionery i would be sort of adapted to be okay you know yes but there it is there's a mine it's an actual mine oh no now i'm gonna have to i'm gonna really struggle with this bit after nailing it first time whoa oh no i didn't register at first he definitely touched him way ahead of time jumped right through it i was very impressed there with that was some sick ninja bread platform thank you i've been playing for all of 20 minutes now i feel like i can you imagine playing this with the motion control to jump yeah i know that would be that would be the world's worst thing oh congratulations it's the world's worst thing right ben you talk about playing this game for 20 minutes um yeah this game is notoriously short featuring only three levels and a tutorial many people have completed it within half an hour without any speed run tactics wow um so just playing it like totally legit uh you can do the whole game in half an hour um in order to proceed to the next level players must collect eight power rods to activate a teleporter which you've just done yeah where is it this is where i just was oh for god's sake it was in the same area oh it's so small it looks massive on the cut scene what do i do what do i do oh i don't know i don't know what do i do to it can you not get in it or oh god the camera oh no you can't can you get in it's just like an arch it's not a dome can you get into it from like one side oh yeah you're right oh thank god for that okay the arrow doesn't know what to do though no just having a little spin he's just hovering off the ground slightly level completed awful awful are they all like that do i just have to collect things for a portal yeah that's basically it really they're oh they all do the portal thing okay yeah yeah that's right that's especially crap isn't oh it's just the same looking level i thought there would at least be some sort of distinction no ben look the the floor is frosting now yeah slightly different music true you know if you play this backwards it's the um it's the lord's prayer it's uh it's the shrek theme tune it's smash mouth the closer i got to this the more i was convinced it was a 2d image like road the art style is so confusing yeah i thought i was about to run into it yeah it's really fast downhill isn't it the uh oh this is different oh what the hell is this oh there's classic candy spikes i love those [Music] yeah it's probably worth it it's worth taking the damage i don't care give me that give me that give me that you can't jump through it you can't it's not allowed this game features of course on the crappy games wiki oh naturally our favorite uh but interestingly as well as the typical why it sucks section um the crappy games wiki also features for this game a redeeming qualities section oh it's sure which is yeah it's very short and it's written in the most begrudging tone i've ever heard it's like oh just to check a box it's like a marriage counselor has said but what do you like about your spouse give let's let's all write four things that we like about our spouse and you know you're like oh well i guess you know uh so what it says is the music while repetitive is fairly decent and sure okay um the cover art is quite cool yeah yeah that's what i look for in games the concept of a gingerbread man ninja was admittedly creative no god this really they're really scratching they are and the final point is basically the same point which is clever name pun is what it says right just three words ding nice work clever name pun pun oh look out for those mines i see them oh they still blow up when you're not crying what's this let's have a better look okay i do have to go this reminds me of um when you go inside an oblivion gate ah the architecture here it's very similar to yeah it is it's just like oblivion it's just like oblivion but just not red ninja bred man is the uh oblivion of uh oh gingerbread games he goes so fast that's a death he just goes ah now we've only been um recording for like 29 minutes really and yeah i feel like i was born here yeah me too and obviously some of that will have been cut down so the episode will already will probably only be like i don't know 20 25 minutes long so far that's fine we'll finish the level we'll do it but i'll start i'll start making my way towards reviews at least for you you know that this could this could be the first worst game that we finish i thought that you know it could be but we still have a a level and a half to do so i don't know well this is a lie isn't it yeah that's just false information this doesn't even work oh come off it i wasn't even close in issue 44 of official nintendo magazine readers were issued with the challenge to play ninja bread man and enjoy it oh official huh yeah uh they later said it was impossible that's funny yeah sense of humor there what am i just am i entering some sort of candy hell tower yeah oh that was that nearly just deposited me on that yeah it did didn't it it really did i've got to play circular frogger get yourself a checkpoint get yourself a check oh the momentum you jump off it it carries you physics engine sideways very good very good physics engine god it's just like spyro isn't it oh the camera it is just like spyro yeah filled with collectibles and fun for the whole family i did just take damage there right at the end of that another mine what am i meant to do about this it still hurt me it still hurt you can't get away from the minds on these platforms oh wow what is oh what what what's happening this now this is not fair that's totally new oh there's a there's a the path is underneath there i think and you have to follow it on top rubbish okay which was not made clear at all no it wasn't and i've got to go and get hurt by another mine what i enjoy oh i can skip that and that still hurt me okay def try try throwing star again just okay never mind no if you drop down the hole i think you have to follow that route on top maybe i think you're gonna have to defeat this sponge cake oh for god's sake oh no you only got one life left i know hit him hit hit it doesn't work it doesn't work it will not surprise you to learn ben that ninja bread man received unanimously negative reviews from critics that's weird heavily criticized for its controls camera system graphics story and short length oh yeah the story is really bad to be fair it's a bad story yeah yeah idiot he actually fell off that guy i think gone oh he got him got him so pop down below oh god that's good camera's great says four tiles one two three four four three so it's along there one two three four yeah over to the red area there one two three and then it's there and then up and then oh god now you're stuck here yeah i have a checkpoint but no no like no live so it doesn't really matter oh a leap of faith oh we're okay we're oh we're okay that was good were you completely unable to control him at that point yeah i just had to wait for him to slide down leave a big greasy smear what do you think the metacritic average for this game was based on six critical reviews 35. um the metacritic average score based on six reviews was only 20 percent wow that is not great that could be that could be our lowest average we've ever had i'm not sure citation needed you reckon it's very low it's certainly a contender it's very low for an average oh you dick we've definitely had obviously lowers lower individual scores but um yes did he get any zeroes it didn't actually interesting oh what am i meant to do about this guy oh god damn it watching the highest score was it came from nintendo gamer very basic platform game with a promising lead character not actually or not actually awful uh but it's overpriced at 20 pounds i love the character development of bread man he really came into his own as the story went on yeah and there's potential for you know a much wider franchise i think yeah surely ninja bread woman ninja bread baby yeah ninja bread dog all of them yeah right um how am i just oh okay i did it so much of that mound there that lovely lady lump is yeah uh is just you can't move or oh there's another one great except now there's a b oh no pursued by a b whilst doing it oh there's the teleporter but you still need one of the power rods okay let's go find the other power rod we'll go for that one last yeah good idea so what do you think they gave it thinking that the character was promising and uh and this is the lowest review score no this is the highest 20 pounds is a bit overpriced and it's a little frustrating for younger players that's that's got a that sounds like a solid 70 out of 100 to me it sounds like it but it would be hard to then average at 20. um that was only all my drivers already the highest review was only 35 35 that's the highest yeah good god that's a damning indictment isn't it no no no well at least i've only got to navigate this death lake huh um yeah wonderful with all the spikes and the the hurt water oh no see this wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have that weird sideways momentum thing when because when you jump up it's also impossible to make that jump seemingly when you jump off this now it's going to fling you in a weird direction like that okay oh there it is i i definitely got oh this stupid camera piss off okay i definitely got that one before okay i can be careful okay um the low oh yeah there it is um the lowest score comes from three different outlets who all gave it the same wow okay there's a nearby b just be careful just be careful so eurogamer game style and thunderbolt all gave it the same lowest score okay um i can i can give you all of their their quotes um eurogamer said ninja bread man lasted half an hour half an hour three levels down and i was booted straight back to the main menu without fanfare i thought i'd press the quit button by mistake half an hour and 100 done game style said it has no redeeming aspect except that thankfully the pain is short-lived but then again you should heed our warning and avoid this title at all costs [Music] it's over it's done that was much closer when it before it started turning and then it was further away its trajectory was a lot closer than that it's not spinning about the center um and finally um thunderbolt said ninja bread man couldn't be more of a generic platformer if it tried yeah um so what do you think those three all gave this game as the lowest score ten correct yes one out of ten this is awful it just doesn't register my swings at all it's so bad it seems to be like not only does the controller not register your swings when you swing your controller it's going over him but yeah like when when the game does actually do a swing it doesn't hit the enemy so you've got two two bits of rng to contend with to fight a basic yeah enemy in this game absolutely atrocious that guy's just sort of hovering off the ground a bit there i think [Music] why does it sound like sweep from is like singing along to this music [Music] i don't know we briefly saw the bottom of the world there though which was exciting just clipped right through wow well that's ninjabread man yeah um sure is you know what i really like what's that just the weird horizontal line on your rod counter just in the middle they didn't really know what to put in there they could have put a graphic of the rods themselves but no no it's just just a line just a line that's all we needed all right [Music] oh christ it's it's so he's so fast why is he okay i'm done i'm over it i'm over it he's so fast i can't i can't control him so rubbish so so rubbish
