disney world has a lot of hotels which means you'll find one that's the perfect fit for you the hotels on this list were not the perfect hotels for some people though hey everybody it's aj for disney food vlog when you're planning a trip to disney world you're probably thinking a lot about where you're gonna stay the hotel you pick can set the mood for your entire trip and there's a lot you need to consider is it in your price range is it close to the things you want to do do you like the theme sometimes we make mistakes and book the wrong hotel and these reviewers on tripadvisor have some strong feelings about why these are their worst hotels in disney world we're starting with a polynesian village resort now you didn't expect this list of hotels ranked by negative internet reviews to not have a little controversy did you coming in at number seven on the worst disney world hotels as rated by trip advisor is the iconic cult favorite polynesian village resort in all of the orlando area this hotel is ranked number 99 of 383 hotels the pali is one of the original disney world hotels it opened with magic kingdom in 1971 and features some of the most well-known restaurants in all of disney world and it does it all with a laid-back south pacific vibe it's one of the premier hotels at disney world right across the water from magic kingdom and of course that comes with a really high price tag the poly has not officially reopened since the park's closures in march 2020 though disney vacation club rooms have been available because of that not many people have stayed here recently and the newest reviews aren't taking into account that when this hotel does reopen in july that the rooms will have gotten a little refurb and a new moana theming reviews from early 2020 start off with never again first and last time and so disappointed one reviewer went so far as to say only good thing was room service food was great but took no joke 85 minutes to get to our room for what you pay for it's not worth it now i am going to say room service at disney world has always taken forever i've never been in a room where room service didn't take like an hour and a half two hours it's insane so i'm with this reviewer on that now if they ordered the twilight feast which is of course the room service version of the dinner at the resort's ohana restaurant then i also agree that that meal is amazing we're not sure when room service might come back at this hotel but if you do stay at the paulie you've got to get the twilight feast if you don't already have reservations at ohana now several reviews complained about dirty and dated rooms one noted that it feels like a grandparent's house and needs a remodel that room refurb should help with the outdated comment we saw in a lot of reviews and i do kind of agree i mean those rooms were pretty outdated so i'm glad that they're getting a revamp another reviewer cut right to the chase with the reason you'll stay here even if you find the rooms a bit stale you stay here for the location if you are going to be doing the magic kingdom in epcot a lot with most of your dining in those two places or along the monorail the cost of the rooms are worth the convenience of the location well keep in mind that right now the epcot monorail is not running and the polynesian monorail station is expected to reopen sometime this summer but for now it is a no-go so this hotel isn't as convenient as we're used to at the moment of the nearly 4 000 reviews of the polynesian village resort almost half of them fall into the excellent categories so just because those negative reviews garner this hotel a lower spot on this list at least some people have had a good experience here alright next on our list pop century resort moving to the other end of the disney hotels in terms of price we're headed to pop which is coming in at the sixth worst disney world hotel on tripadvisor there are over 12 000 reviews for pop century and it still lands at number 125 of 383 pop century is a value resort which means it's light on amenities in space to keep that price lower but it's still got some disney extras that will keep that price well above the local motel 6. several reviews from folks who had a bad experience at this hotel noted you might have a better time at the local motel 6. one even called pop century the dumpster of disney that's a little harsh so why is it ranking so low for some people on tripadvisor well a lot of people weren't into the food at the resort there is only a single counter service restaurant so your options are rather limited as one reviewer said the food at the everything pop food court was close to cafeteria food yeah it's standard burgers fries pizza pasta nothing super exciting at this quick service restaurant which is sad because when they first opened they had some really really fun intriguing stuff including tv dinners which was a super cute concept but at least you can walk to art of animation to check out their food options or hop on the skylander to go to caribbean beach or riviera resort for some more options so believe me pop century has gotten a major upgrade when it comes to availability of food since the skyliner was opened now the skyliner was a point of contention for a few reviewers though and it's definitely something you need to consider if you're staying here if you stay at pop the skyliner is how you'll get to epcot and hollywood studios occasionally they will also run buses to these parks but they are sporadic if they are running they certainly don't run buses to epcot and dhs as often as they do from other hotels if you're not a fan of the skyliner don't stay here unless you plan on driving yourself to epcot and hollywood studios so just heads up on that a lot of complaints centered on the room size as a value resort the rooms are smaller than others on disney property they are just 260 square feet and while there are two beds one is a murphy bed that you'll need to pull down every night though that does save some space during the day as one reviewer said makes a cruise ship room seem large this might not be the hotel you want to cram your family of four adults into for a full week still the skyliner if you enjoy that mode of transportation makes pop century more convenient than most hotels and the price point typically under or around 200 per night makes it more accessible to more people and yes we know 200 per night is still insane while it's not the high point of disney luxury it does get you into an official disney hotel so that's the benefit of pop century next up at number 126 of 383 hotels in orlando is port orleans riverside this old south inspired resort is sprawling and not in the nice picturesque way it's big and that means it can be tough to navigate which was a big problem for a lot of reviewers as one person said walking through this resort is literally miserable wow that's that's real harsh i think it's kind of pretty there this hotel has an internal bus shuttle which should clue you in on the fact that you might not want to walk from end to end though it could take you 20 to 25 minutes to walk to your room from the main lobby area if you're in one of the farthest rooms i usually like to walk in the morning to get coffee but this was not an enjoyable walk quote unquote book a preferred room if you want to be closer to the resort's main amenities and transportation can be tough at this resort as well there is a boat that will take you to disney springs but to get anywhere else it's gonna be bus and you're gonna have to stop at multiple locations around the resort before you even go to the park you're thinking about so several reviews mentioned long wait times to get back to the hotel at the end of the night as well now one person who did not have a great stay did have this to say the photos and videos online don't do the resort justice it is absolutely beautiful the attention to detail as with all disney experiences was stunning so it's not all bad and people seem to love the royal rooms at this hotel those are the themed rooms filled with disney princess decor and oddly enough but not surprising to many of us who know disney well port orleans french quarter which is the sister resort of this hotel is ranked at number 49 of 383 hotels in orlando which puts it all the way at number two in the best disney hotels ranked by trip advisor so these are literally right next to each other but one is a favorite and one is a least favorite so people love the compact size of the french quarter and felt that the buses were quick and convenient something to consider if you're choosing between those two sister resorts neither of these hotels has opened yet may 2021 if you're description all right moving on to another classic disney world hotel on our worst of list as rated by trip advisor the contemporary coming in at number 147 of 383 hotels in orlando and number four worst disney hotel ranked by trip advisor just like the polynesian this hotel opened in 1971 which means it's going to feel a little dated or is one reviewer clarified i don't mean outdated because i do realize that decor is the theme they are going for it's just old and need some major help tacky isn't even the right word now this is painful because this is my favorite hotel in disney world so ouch but good news this hotel is getting some renovations too right now the rooms in the main a-frame building are getting redone and hopefully that will improve the decor reviews we've read which it'll make me sad because i like the decor right now but what do i know because this hotel is so iconic with some high-profile restaurants a lot of people are going to visit it which means it can get really loud and also the center of the hotel is just a giant cavern and everything echoes in there so about that here's what one reviewer said 7 30 a.m mind-blowing loud disney music from chef mickey's almost a thousand dollars a night with no sleep well the main building is completely open in the center like i said it's just a big cavern so your room will open right onto the main concourse which means it gets loud real early something to consider if you're a late sleeper but i will say this i've stayed at the contemporary several times and yes it's loud outside but the doors do tend to keep most of the noise out of your room so i didn't have a really really horrible experience with that and i am by the way very very picky about that sort of thing so just a heads up from me personally now if you're looking for some quiet you may want to book a room in one of the garden wings they're not as close to the main amenities but not quite the miles and miles and miles from the main hotel that one reviewer mentioned the main draw of the contemporary resort is its proximity to magic kingdom it's just a five minute walk and you do have some great restaurants right in your hotel like chef mickey's california grill and the wave that proximity makes this one of the most expensive hotels in disney world likely over 500 per night but even with all the bad reviews there are still die hard fans who've stayed at this resort dozens of times and still enjoy it i'm raising my hand all right we got a three for here with the always contentious all-star resorts next on our list of the worst disney world hotels as rated by advisor these are the most cost-effective hotels at disney world but they'll still run you about 140 per night of the three resorts only all-star movies has currently reopened all-star sports and all-star music are still closed luckily all-star movies is the highest rated of the three landing at 1 59 of 383 hotels in orlando a lot of complaints are about the old outdated rooms one reviewer said the outside looked decent but that's where it ended while another said please upgrade your hotel we are in 2020 there should be a lot more amenities in the rooms but again we've got some room refurbs in the works all star movies has completely finished its refurb which gives the rooms the same layout as pop century with a murphy bed and a new laminate flooring that should help things seem a little cleaner these three resorts only offer bus transportation to the parks as well the shuttle picks up the other all-star resort guests before going to movies so you might be waiting a while you'll be riding on a bus nearly a half hour to get anywhere from this resort it's that far away from everything at disney now disney buses are notoriously slow especially at park open and park close if you're staying here to take advantage of the lower prices you may also want to consider driving yourself to the parks and yeah the all-stars are over close to animal kingdom which means they are very very far away from magic kingdom and relatively far away from hollywood studios in epcot as well so it will probably take you a good 20 minutes to get from these hotels to the park even after you've picked up from the other two hotels all right next on our worst disney world hotels as rated by trip advisor list coronado springs resort another very large resort hotel makes our worst hotels list and this one lands at number 178 of 383 hotels in orlando one reviewer said our room was pleasant but an incredibly far walk from the check-in area at the grandestino tower this resort has multiple bus stops and many sections just like port orleans riverside which can mean a lot of walking if you aren't near the main building grandistino tower now grandistino does have its own bus stop as well another person was not so happy with their room the room looks like a very standard hotel room with a door that opens up to the outside like a motel well most of the rooms at coronado springs will be in the smaller buildings that surround the lake with outdoor hallways if you stay in the newer grand aceno tower the building does have indoor hallways but an expected downside as this reviewer pointed out we stayed in the tower and the line to get in the elevator was 26 minutes this is likely due to coveted protocols and only one party per elevator but if you're on a higher floor you're probably not going to want to walk up 10 flights of stairs if there is a weight for that elevator now more people seem to enjoy their stay in the grandistino tower versus the smaller buildings and the older buildings at coronado springs because of course grandstino is brand brand new one reviewer even said unless you are staying in the new grandstino tower do not stay at this resort ouch the tower opened in 2019 so the rooms are brand new and there are more restaurant options you're closer to the main lobby and bus stop it has its own fitness center plus the rooms are larger at 375 square feet compared to the other rooms at 314 square feet so yeah staying in the grand estino tower does feel much much more like an upscale hotel experience and less like a motel which is kind of the vibe you get staying at the other buildings the theming here is not over the top disney this hotel is themed to the southwest and hosts many conventions so it tends to have a more subdued adult atmosphere which may not be what everyone's looking for when they book a disney world hotel if you stay in grandistino tower you'll get a lot more amenities than are typically offered at this level of disney hotel it is a moderate resort considered a moderate resort by disney so you get a lot more bang for your buck here you get a much more deluxe feel from your moderate dollar even if those tower rooms are a little more expensive that's definitely a big thing to consider if you're thinking about staying at coronado springs now again everywhere you go in disney is going to be by bus from coronado springs it also is over by animal kingdom so it's very very far away from a lot of the parks you want to get to in disney world okay well now we've reached our worst hotel the worst hotel at disney world as ranked by trip advisor is caribbean beach resort coming in at number 206 of 383 hotels in orlando nearly 9 000 reviews and some of the best aren't as glowing as you might expect this five-star review comes with a caveat while this hotel is not as luxurious as the deluxe villas or hotels it's an incredible value and a great hotel well luxury is not the name of the game here it's a moderate resort as well this is another big hotel with a lot of rooms and the beachy vibe does not lend itself to high-end amenities like you might find at the grand floridian this is also a motel feel with the doors that open to outdoor hallways as well one reviewer noted you can find similar quality hotels much cheaper elsewhere and i agree with that and it was also missing the disney magic according to that reviewer though the pirate theme of the room was amusing and made her smile when she arrived the pirate rooms are a fun themed option here if you have a pirate loving kid but some reviews mentioned the beds weren't that comfortable and the rooms were far from the lobby yeah they are they're real far from the lobby again here you can book a preferred room to be closer to the main amenities at the resort though the pirate rooms are only located in one section so you're gonna have to choose between the pirate ship bed or being close to the pirate themed pool while this hotel is on the skyliner line which is great most reviews didn't find solace in the convenience that offered and many noted the long wait times to get back to the resort at the end of the night even with the quick skyliner ride one reviewer said better to get yourself a cheaper hotel and pay for uber transportation woes at disney world seem pretty common as do the comments on outdated rooms caribbean beach had a big update in 2018 with a brand new lobby and restaurant area and the rooms were recently updated so we didn't see too many complaints about this resort being outdated but a few folks weren't happy with the state of their room overall caribbean beach is not for you if you're looking for a luxe boutique hotel this is a large spread out moderately priced disney hotel so you have a fun theme but you're also going to encounter long waits for transportation since so many others are staying at this hotel too we've had good trips here and bad trips but ultimately this hotel fits the bill if you like the theme and the price tag just don't expect four seasons quality and we've got a video coming up soon where we do disney's old key west resort this disney vacation club resort has landed all the way at number 42 of 383 hotels in orlando and is ranked as the number one disney world hotel by reviewers on tripadvisor people loved how relaxing this hotel is and the rooms are larger than most on disney property making it a lot more accommodating for larger families this resort is off most people's radar because kind of out there in the middle of nowhere but based on how some of the most popular hotels fared on this list you might be better off looking at a hotel you may not have considered before so
