WORLD'S FIRST Stick Shift GM In The SEVENS! Leroy's Most INSANE Pass!

from the start of the Leroy project there's been someone standing at pretty much every corner we've turned saying no you can't do that that'll never work and it's only made us work harder oh my god guys I got a nine when we put turbos on Leroy we knew he'd go fast we didn't know how fast he'd go but we were gonna give it our best shot from the moment I ran my nine second pass I dreamed of running an age I knew it wouldn't be easy with a stick shift car but we were all in on making happy Oh at this point it was on we were going for the Corvette stick shift world record which at the time was way out of our league but we jumped in we tune the car up and we did our freakin best no way the last box you gotta be kidding me into the record thank you for making me go back down dude so after the 848 which was about ten months ago from now we've been doing everything with Leroy from drive-thru shenanigans to picking up Christmas trees to doing half-mile events even going drifting with fellow youtubers a visit to Vegas with the hoonigan guys Road horsing Leroy on Daytona and Sebring but we knew it was time to get back to business and when we got to Charlotte we finally started to see some improvements we were finally in the 80s and going over 170 miles an hour in the quarter mile but it seemed we were stuck in the 80s after running for 826 passes in the same day I felt like we were aerodynamically limited a lot after seeing what happened in the wind tunnel seems like we were stuck but this last week Texas speed told me to send it on the moves controller and while blowing a head gasket in the process this pass put us only 1/10 away from the seventh my god oh yes eight 100 178 boys we got the world record we lifted ahead in the process well we got the world record Leroy was down but he was not out we had the Corvette world record but with competitors hot on our heels going for the sevens we knew if we wanted to be the first stick-shift GM car ever in the sevens it was crunch time we had to get this thing fixed and in today's video we got down and dirty we thrashed ladies and gentlemen we made it happen you're on the please put on YouTube chain James you had a baby this would be the second head you'll have to pull this week yeah amazing I didn't get my 7 though No so I didn't hold up to my part of the deal but I did have a 7 pound baby yeah 1 7 pound notes ounce 2 ounces yeah Wow so now I got around my 7 to hold up my part of the deal all right guys all we got a little bit of sleep and we're back at the shop today and we're just gonna go ahead and rip these heads off right now get down to business get in there Hollywood guys it's another scorcher today I'm already sweating through my shirt we'll have the cool bosses cranked on and a minute but all for draining fluids doesn't really work so hot so we got him up here guys well you got to pull both heads off you know the head gasket on one side on the driver's side is the only one that had the issue last night but we're gonna pull both heads off check both gaskets probably put new studs in it we got to get the heads milled and re leveled and we'll get new gaskets tomorrow and we'll have this thing back together we got a quest for sevens yeah so the intake came right off and I think we managed not to scratch it that's all the manifolds off you know the chirps Keys set them down and then we will finally get that's come on strong man use your dad strength your newly gifted dad strength all right so we have our non-problematic head off and everything looks good so don't really have to worry about anything on this side but it's worth cleaning off putting a fresh gasket in it along with some new studs already eyes moment of truth you can actually see the gasket is completely pushed out down here see that guys that's our freakin head gasket right there Wow see what we're working with oh man she's shot I mean they usually come off pretty bad Oh baby the important part I want to make sure there's no burn marks in this and it doesn't appear to have any I think we're good dude okay so I pushed out right here so that's where we'd have our burn mark right yeah it'd be a big old slot as far as I can feel we're ready to rip so that just shows it was our timing marks perfect perfect I take a little bit more oh man that's the best news I've heard all day as far as the block goes this all looks absolutely perfect yeah this is the other concern be here on the block where the gas was actually emotional I think it's totally fun and as you can see the rings on there safe guess it's did their job and dinner to burn any aluminum let's go all right guys well we are good to go that is such good news the bottom end is fine the heads are fine no torching everything's there that needs to be there nothing's missing no missing material yes so here's the plan guys we're getting head gaskets overnighted from Texas speed we're getting head studs overnighted from them as well we're gonna replace those we have a nice fresh head set up some strong studs we're gonna torque these puppies down and we're going right back out we're gonna take the heads up to fast forward race engines which is a local machine shop to us we're gonna have these babies milled down cleaned up we're gonna throw them back on there and go full sand if it's not raining freakin tomorrow or even Tuesday we're going back out we're gonna use we're gonna do this as fast as we can there's a bunch of shops trying to be the first GM stick shift car the sevens we want to be the first ones we got to do it we got to push harder than ever right now all right guys welcome back we're now on day two of fixing Leroy on the quest for seven the guys of Texas speed flew in this morning and brought with themselves some brand new head gaskets that we're about to put on Leroy James dad the machine shop getting the heads milled all those well guys we have a track rental tonight and we're gonna go out and run seven going down under percent might do it first pass ready Casey yeah settling down it's happening today we got this alright guys things are looking good that heads are back on the new gaskets are in the new studs are in where's pulling things back together this side done got to finish that up with the valve covers on once the rockers are torqued down and we are ready to put the intake back on Louie things are looking good just got the manifolds tightened on James you're doing the power steering bracket I just put plugs in all the plug wires hooked up right now we got to put the intake on then there's a bunch of stuff that plums up to that at that point we do oil coolant get this thing running head to the track for sevens and then run this room then run a seven let's go well guys Leroy's starting to look like a race car again we have been straight hustling all day he's almost done and we're going to the track all right folks we are cleared for a fire up we're holding fuel pressure we got water in it I've watched that radiator overflow see if it sucks a bunch of water down and probably will ready baby are you ready Trevor can you handle it to the trash well guys we've made it out here big thanks to Bradenton Motorsports Park setting this up today some last-minute stuff you ready around seven let's go Holly's ready we run in the right lane all right we go guys this is it I've never felt closer never felt more ready there we go oh whoa guys we just have Holly flash on the hot tip she's walking away she knows it's gonna go a seven so when we go out there what we're gonna do is hit it right from the start and because there's no one else here if it doesn't feel like a good launch I'm gonna get out of it at the eighth mile at the most you know even earlier if I can if it doesn't leave hard just gonna get out of it back up cool a car off go again we're not running out the big end until we absolutely have to because we got it cranked up and we don't want to shove another gasket out of it we just got to get out there and if it leaves hard once man bolson for seven sixty-four it was an 85 85 yeah 158 felt really lazy looked okay early and it looked like you double pump it have faith and decided what you were gonna do I felt like a good left good but it felt super lazy up top we thought you may be like what off or something all right figure it out all right guys obviously we're down 20 miles an hour on this past when we had this whole car apart today we think we have a boost like we only made eleven point eight pounds and like I said that was the same tune-up that we ran at the track the other day so something's wrong we got to figure it out right now we're gonna throw these boots leak checkers on their charts a system see where our leak is hopefully it's just a simple leak and we'll be good to go all right guys we think we have our boost issue resolved what can you expect when you take a car completely apart though and like rush back together and head to the track all righty if it doesn't 60-foot I gotta let out the last one is actually pretty good it was a 131 on that 85 I can't believe we ran that on 11 pounds of boost now let's see what we can do I have 27 on the clutch yeah I don't know I let out immediately 144 and they spun the clutch so bad it wouldn't have done anyway it's fun the clutch so bad on the order done it made a ton it felt faster than it ever has guys that was a 17 past it spun the clutch spun on the begin it must have made a lot of power that was insane to ten to the 8th dude 10 mile an hour the clutch we gotta cool the clutch off we just win 5:15 today is out at 5:15 at a hundred and forty four that's that's a seven 75 785 3 2 1 36 5 3 at 136 on the 8:10 and it wasn't my clutch spinning it was water under my tires because it had pushed it out of the head gasket right under my left tire I mean that's crazy that's terrifying this thing is getting a belly pan ASAP we're done for the day definitely blows because the sevens on the line and we have it in the back I mean if it would have just held a second more I mean it probably would have done it but we're talking about a 4 in the 8th though like you could did if I would if I didn't let out though like there's such a good chance that it could have just gone right into the wall 160 170 miles an hour I'm heartbroken though for sure that blows we have the small head studs in the scar and think it's time to upgrade to the half inch ones damn guys I'm so bummed I mean I'm excited because I mean that's that's incredible to see the car do that but shoot me and water under the tires that fast and if I would have stayed in I mean that could have been I could have been it for the car and me putting this much power into a car your founder dude 28 pounds of boost push the head gasket out in the same spot I'm so bummed but could have gotten really hurt so gentle scary it's definitely putting a belly pan on the scene again well 5:15 I'm so like I car into the trailer I turned to Casey and said this might be the craziest thing you've ever heard but have you ever ran one of these cars with no water in the block everyone kind of looked at me like I was crazy but he said hell yeah let's send it driver from Texas speed said do it let's do it now or never melt the thing down let's go for it so brace yourselves folks we're going for it on a hurt motor all right guys so we're here this is gonna be our our chance to do this so what we're gonna do and this might sound crazy to some of you is as you guys know this engine has water running through it to keep it cool and when we push a head gasket water comes out of the engine and that's what got into my tires super sketchy so we're gonna give this a last-ditch effort we're gonna drain all the water out of this thing it's gonna be on total meltdown by the end of that past because it's gonna be so hot with absolutely no cooling but that might be what it takes to get this seven tonight and be the first ones to ever do it guys we are back in this we're getting fans we're cooling this thing off we're going no water on this path Todd showing up with an extra fan we got the raised end staff on board at this I just just sounded like the lowest of the low I'm feeling good I just had a feeling it's gonna be tonight we're gonna get this if it goes even close to what it just did and they ate it it's done game over we got it that's four times call for desperate measures just talked about to do so I'm at optimal freedom ain't gonna do a 5:15 to the eighth on this tune but we don't need a 5:15 we just need something wasn't me it's shut off during the burnout that was not me that turned it off do all your breathing right now whenever you start this thing you roll up there it needs to be in a blintz oh I'm good I'm ready I just don't know why it shut off what a cool long I missed third download it oh it was making what seemed like it was good it felt fine it felt like he was making power I just let out because I I miss third so I just let out felt like it was making power though alright guys to that last pass is on me bad burn out when the car shut off and then I missed the gear in the freaking punch time here I gotta be good on this pass this might be the last one we get right here right now it's gonna stay motivated keep my head in the game and we will do what we want to do it's amazing this engine doing this right now actually insane actually crazy there we go hold on yeah push start me still watch the water on the tires not worth the pass Splenda tires all right we're gonna push back and do this right again well it's all man 800 700 Thank You Leroy still spun a little bit but damn it felt good the rest of the past oh man I don't know if that was it but man it did feel good man it did feel good Leroy thank you for staying on I just want to tell you how much I love you for ripping that hard I know this is not easy on you brother damn I can't believe holding that power up there like that with the it's got these special head gasket to have metal ringing it guys so even though we pushed water earlier the rains reset guys so the head kind of read clamps on it and that's the only reason why it's holding any power as those rings it's the special head gaskets the tech speed cells called Athena's Wow I don't know if that was it cuz it did spin off the line but I wanted to get a full pass to even see if it was worth waiting for another one just it actually did pull up hard so I don't know get a minute yeah that was a good pass felt back was 807 807 yeah at one mile an hour 178 178 yeah 807 and it was like 5 3 to the 8th always a 60-foot 127 damn we're gonna give the track the same treatment it's got it this puppy can be stopped neither will we we got this oh yeah hey at least we just broke a world record it was our own world record but then the least tonight we broke a world record yeah let's get this fake let's keep going guys we're not stopping yep we gotta let it cool down for a while I was then we'll be back yeah I just dude I'm on a roller coaster of emotions like I hope you guys at home are freaking out - this has been insane like we literally went I've never felt that excuse my language shitty in a long time like I was I was bummed but now we're back in it might the fastest pass ever fastest pass ever right there on a hurt motor that right there 300 passes deep not even if got blown head gasket and we just went a hundred and 78 miles an hour I mean ladies and gentlemen on a slower tune-up than our 8:10 so we still got that mile an hour on less boost I mean guys we are letting her rip tater chip and we're about to run a seventh deploy wires here right now is the law the last time I'm gonna have to pack this in a while oh yeah bro honestly it's a little comforting that there's not water in that thing right now because when I was up there doing one 180 almost out the back end I was like it's good to know I can't really get water on their minds right now I don't think we're gonna put the 515 to the a tune back in it cuz we're kind of asking they'll just send her send a rod to the sky but we'll put some power back in it I'm dumping and take it back up to where I had it on the first pass at 5:15 was get help that felt like Aussie it'd be like if we put a querque on Holly's back and threw a piece of meatloaf that's what it felt like yeah I'm trying to get my head around it right now all right guys drop the RPM so it doesn't spin on the line what happened on that last pass is when I pedaled it in first year fill out a great 60 foot it actually jumped the boost controller in the second gear too early so then when I went in the second leg I shifted the second gear the boost controller thought it was in third so it was off and basically when that happens it runs less boost than it should be in those gears it's hard to explain right now but had I not had to peddle it in first will be gonna step and to prevent that from happening here we dropped the RPM launch just a little bit i spraying the track this is it this this will be the seventh 100% it's go-time Leroy let's get it buddy let's make it happen all right folks we're trying not to get down they they just drag the track they're gonna spray right now is some fresh blue just got to work with what we got it could go a seven on this next pass if it doesn't I'm staying up all night pulling these heads putting another set of gas it's on them and we're coming back tomorrow it's as simple as that this is the time where we either do it or we don't if it doesn't happen right now which I think you will we stay up all night and we pull the heads I mean we know the the shop that we're up against is going to the track this week so we don't have really not if we want to be first we don't have an option but to do the overnighter and get it done and honestly that's the spirit of racing that's what we should do it it's fun to me definitely is gonna cost us some sleep for everybody around but hey it's not like any of us just had a baby or anything I mean here he doesn't get sleep as it is yeah yeah I don't know if we'll get James to come in tonight but we can at least do the heads off we got to get them resurfaced in the morning and listen this is all if this doesn't happen right here right now okay that's all if this doesn't happen right now so please do it right here right now gosh I hope it says right here we're just putting too much power for these horrible heads and these thin head studs because it's a stock walk you know and we could have had half-inch studs drilled into it but you know Texas speed offers that and this wouldn't be an issue but we never thought Leroy would go this one like no way there's 300 passes on this motor and the reason it's lived so long it's it's a great build it's an amazing build on a motor but it's just not meant for this power and that's it's as simple as that and we're pushing it as far as we can never go on this hard and that's why we're doing what we're doing right now we're not giving up you know dentists no one can say we didn't give it our all that's that's it but sometimes you got to work for stuff the best things in life don't come easy so let's get out there and try seven yeah I'm ready as I'll ever be but you want me to roll past the starting line I'm ready I'm gonna tap in stutters mcdeere I got monster clutches obviously the clutch is a major part in this game incredible and the RPM transmission that t56 is the baddest I mean that thing is unreal that's the only reason I mean the diff in the transmission take the hardest hit out of any of this and rpm always supporting us and that they're a huge part of this I mean the stick shift game is huge they built a hell of a transmission clearly that Frankenstein intake that we just put on absolutely 100% works because that thing I mean I think it's keeping our eye a cheese called The Iceman intake we got the g-force axle holding it down when we're rifting up to a one to six 60-foot obviously fuel injector clinic with the injectors I mean those girls 21 fifties blowing all that ignite racing fuel I mean AJ from any nights been supporting that's the whole way his feels amazing and then dunk promotion race works always supporting that stuff like that parachute you know fittings things like that the fuel system getting us the fuel pumps I mean you know some boost control stuff so much stuff Doug is he's great resource and we got all the guys motion race works all this came together today and it's amazing so listen guys and and the last thing last person I want to thank is all of you you guys supporting us is incredible and I thank you I think Cooper thanks you'd like this is the biggest could do something with this yeah we're so close last week that just needed some stuff went away in five fifteen earlier how it's like dude we went from the lowest of the low like after he came back indoors water we're like let's load it up and the cameras were rolling I was like wait a second this might be the stupidest idea I turned to chasey I'm like killing her on it without cooling he's like might as well so we draining the coolant well the water sent it and put five passes later it worked yeah beat on it pretty good to get here but but they we beat the hell out of this car today Phil driving the trailer that's what counts yep put it away ready for the next race so tell them I think we swap this puppy before we go the LS I mean everything else on it is good to go yeah you're probably tossing and turning last night we pulled the heads and we got flights with those guys and I stayed up pretty much all night like I couldn't even think straight or you just like left foot was going hard
