Riding In Mike Finnegan's 11.7 Liter Twin Turbo BIG BLOCK Jet Boat!!! (Nearly 2,000 Horsepower)

hell yeah brother you're on the policeman for on youtube channel what's up man yo how's it going dude so excited about the hovercraft i'm excited about the 1700 horsepower big blocks when turbo boat this thing sucks dude it's got a joystick right no dude it's got handlebars like you're on a freaking oh like this yeah yeah you'll see you'll see the handling is incredible you're taking it off any sweet jumps yet we're going to today this is its biggest exploration yet so it's only been in a pond okay today we're going on the open water with the hovercraft but we're also going on game over which is mike finnegan's twin turbo big block jet boat yeah big big block figure before we get to the boat ramp can we do a quick run around on the setup here yeah so this is uh let's start at the front okay this is one of my favorite parts this is a fiberglass nine foot 19 foot long peterson placecraft jet boat hull the hole weighs 420 pounds wow wow yeah you really can't walk around on the top of it okay um be sure to keep my giraffe self off of that yes so the whole boat is fiberglass it's got two one inch thick wooden stringers running down the tops of the tunnels here everything mounts off those um it's basically a car on the water it's got a car motor there's really no marine parts on it which i drive in the back it's not coast guard approved i guess how do you keep this so clean man everything looks so nice uh well you know you don't drive it much about five six seconds and then go all right let's leave before the cops come um because currently i it might not be legal i don't know i don't know if there's a speed limit on this we're not gonna worry about all that yeah yeah i'm sure so our hearts are in the right place that's what matters you know what i mean so i see you got two precision turb keys what size were you working with there these are baby ones these are 88's baby 88's i told uh i told precision i want it to spool now i don't care about having 3 000 horsepower just give me like 2 000 now okay um so the engine is a sunny leonard 711 hemi it's uh kind of a chevy hemi it's a five inch spore space brodix block it's aluminum uh so basically it's a chevy right yeah chevy engine mounts water pump fuel pump that would all bolts that block if you wanted to use it but then it has sunnies hemispherical heads on top of it it's got a holley dominator efi cp pistons carrillo rods good stuff because the the big thing about these is when they blow up you go swimming there are no brakes you don't put you don't get to push the clutch pedal in interested when you're hauling ass and the motor locks up the bow of the boat goes into the water and you go out the boat usually through what don't let that scare you oh don't worry about it well let's start with the scary stuff first dang man 711 cubic inch yeah twin 88 yep and a jet drive yeah so it's going to go wrong it's got a it's got an aluminum drive shaft cute little drive shaft cute little one 20 inches long going straight to a custom-built drive shaft that this thing should withstand 3000 horsepower if we ever turn it up right now oh my gosh you are gonna have eight pounds of boost under your right foot which is about 1700 horsepower i think today oh guys and you're gonna love it i'm gonna love it when it's all over you're going to want to buy one well the problem is when i whenever i enter a new sport i end up buying something yeah yeah well the good news is there are no jet boats around here for sale we'll have to travel beautiful but uh by the end of this i'm hoping you want to travel and go on an adventure and go get yourself a chipboard we might have to i don't know okay so can we just get a quick rundown on how the jet drive works i know it's co2 powered yeah direct driven right water comes in through the bottom of the boat yep right here and um the jet drive is actually sucking the water through the bottom of the boat and then squeezing it out the back through this nozzle this nozzle has three functions um i can't move it right now because it's under pressure but that's forward that's neutral okay um yeah because it just pushes the water out the side comes right out the side yeah so you can sit there in the water like you're foot breaking the thing and spool it we got to do that yeah you could do that yeah um this air cylinder changes the angle of the nozzle which changes the attitude of the boat and we've done a lot of testing to figure out that fine line between getting as much hull out of the water so you go fast without doing a backflip okay i like that we got this good to know dual cable steering left right left right nice uh this here is a safety device it's called a pop off this relieves excess water pressure out of the jet drive when it's time to slow down um it's kind of like your clutch yeah like major disadvantage of a jet boat unlike all the other ones out there is when it's time to slow down you don't have a clutch and this impeller is spinning it's directly coupled to the motor so imagine going 130 you've got 130 mile an hour worth of water coming in through the bottom when you take your foot off the gas that impeller slows down the water's still going in there at 130. trying to lift the back of the boat up and slam the nose down and send you swimming so you push a button on the steering wheel oh my gosh vent water out of here then take your foot off the gas okay and how fast are we going to be getting to 130 today uh you and i will wood it for four seconds which is going to be about 115 somewhere in that day and you will that's awesome and uh and then you'll want to go buy one of these which everybody should do because again unlike car races they're a bikini at dragwood races oh yeah you don't find girls in bikinis at the drag strip you just don't and there won't be any here today either in this video but unfortunately later on when you go boat racing because you're going to get hooked bikinis okay yeah good to know so then this over here is for if it does a backflip which we're not going to do but that's a parachute life jacket and kevlar pants yeah it's optional i mean but you could wear this and this is a parachute on a life vest that has leg straps these go on your legs and should you get thrown out of the boat in theory that cord is tethered to the boat the chute deploys you land feet first in the water okay slows you down then when you land feet first you would have the worst enemy your entire life so kevlar shorts wow go over your swim trunks to uh you know stop i feel like i need to wear it just for the full experience i feel like you need to full race i'll wear the ski vest you wear the safety stuff okay and uh we'll go have some fun okay cool and then we got a super jet back here that was delivered last week how's she ride oh it's amazing it's amazing it's like sex on water what year is this one so this is a 94 this is the og right here that's a 2020. 26 years later yeah two both of them are two strokes this will be the last year of the two stroke which is why i was ready to go get one before they all disappeared and uh you were awesome had to send out leroy awesome the mcfarland delivery service was on point yeah man i mean we had to go get it for you i'm excited to ride it for sure though yeah we got a full full lake day ahead of us oh yeah we should probably get after it and a hovercraft let's go let's do it all right i'll see you guys at the boat ramp dang man this is so sick all right guys we're gearing up to go on finn's jet boat here i'm gonna tell you how to do it but i'm not actually gonna do it for you okay i thought having a bullet was enough safety equipment for all this stuff it can only help here we go we are riding in game over 1700 horsepower-ish we i have a parachute life jacket on kevlar pants and finnegan is not even wearing shoes so here we go [Laughter] what could go wrong do we get in and then he backs us in yep oh my gosh this thing's so sick then let's make sure we turn the co2 on it's full i checked it man these seat belts are sick there's literally nothing to hold on to just for the record everyone everyone needs to know that if you don't have a steering wheel you have nothing yeah you're an unwilling participant basically yep let's hope it starts i mean it's kind of nice it's got a belt-driven fuel pump oh yeah we primed it this morning okay [Music] yeah for a second there i was like uh yeah the hovercraft drives a little at nicer right all right so here's how you make a pass right okay this is forward reverse or rather further neutral so you put it all the way down okay give it some throttle to about 3 500. at 3 500 it makes no boost so it's a zero basically open it foot to the floor and then the ecu will make the nozzle come up about one and a half seconds into the run when you're ready to slow down before you let off the gas you hit the blue button and you'll feel it let off that opens the pop off take some load off the motor you'll the motor will start climbing rpm and you'll let off and then once you slow down and you're idling again you close the pop off with this button beautiful easy enough it's uh so when we're driving i've never driven it with anyone else riding shotgun yeah and it has two gas tanks 15 gallons on each side this tank is dry this side is 15 gallons of raised fuel in it you're on this side and the boat's doing this oh and i'm like it's listing it's listing to one side you got a 220 pound florida man and you're passing your seat plus 15 gallons of what is it uh 118 rocket brand beautiful okay all right so i mean we're probably good have you ripped it with a passenger before no oh glad i could be here to be that guy all right so we'll hole shot it and then we'll get your assessment of that yeah let's do it fire me up bro all right here we go let's go faster all right wow all right guys we're on round two here we go folks all right guys so we are going back out finn and kevin played at the tune so see what happens here let's see kevin i was just sitting there going oh for real okay yeah push that arrow that's what happens to me all the time kevin have you tuned on boats before ever airboats i've done some airboat stuff wow what about hovercraft slippery slippery ramp all right guys i stepped down my safety equipment a little bit i'm not wearing the parachute jacket but i'm still wearing the kevlar shorts boat's going to run better put on lace safety gear i love it like your style dude isn't there some sort of legal thing out there that says we're not allowed to hang out for more than four hours because safety equipment diminishes too quickly just depends on what state we're in is looking good down here dude two man in a boat no flip-flops on a florida man and a georgia man ripped yet boat 11. good call all right here comes the brain folks my [Music] that seemed pretty spicy on that one live rips so i'm gonna do a short hole shot and then when he tells me to let off i'm just going to let off yeah all right first one's ignition and then boom yep all right all right so now you want to stop the boat that's neutral that's neutral all right you want to make sure make sure that the nozzle is down this is the over the dove yeah you won't touch this one at all when you're ready to go this is down grab it to about 000 flip it and mat it can i just cruise it real quick yeah all right yeah there you go it's hard oh great that's crazy all right that way oh all right so coming to an island we'll talk about it all right [Laughter] yes dude so you don't want to saw the wheel god tell me those things you did great you didn't really like literally other than newburn i don't think there's anyone else on the planet i put in that seat you did awesome thank you man um dude you just this is kind of like uh oh crap but because once we were getting loose i just hit it perfect and it straightened right out yeah it's kind of like pushing the clutch in and throwing the shoots up yeah like that's the save me now button and uh and what you experience is if you don't fully commit right like everything's on a timer right here so if you don't mat it and it doesn't leave as hard as it can when the nozzle comes up the timing is wrong so the nozzle wasn't all the way up and it was spaustering it was driving on the keel of the boat doing this that was sick and so that's why you were like whoa yeah i could see you're like oh no i was like camera uh where do i hit him all right
