Five reporter Megan, I joins us live outside the police department and Megan, you talk with a couple who drove up moments after the deadly encounter. That couple did not want to be identified, but they tell me what they witnessed was disturbing. Meanwhile, the police chief says that he's been reviewing the body camera video and he's looking into the situation to see if anything could have been done differently. Sad sight to see the married couple was driving home from the mall Friday night along North Crossroads Boulevard and I seen somebody handcuffed on the floor and two cops like grabbing the person. So I told my wife turn around bones. Heights. Police chief John J Hanara says his officer shot 49 year old Marta Prader twice. There was no sign of life like but there was like in my opinion, what you expect to see is like life saving measures. I didn't see any of that going on. The police chief says it all started when a patrol officer noticed Prader loitering near this abandoned car wash, he got out of his Tahoe to tell her to leave. The police chief says that's when things escalated quickly. He says, Parader bashed out this window with a homemade weapon. It was a pair of scissors attached to like a toe strap, nylon rope. A backup officer arrived. Johanna says, Parader kept swinging the weapon and speaking gibberish. He says his officers tried to de escalate the situation. It seemed like it wasn't de escalating. It became to an escalation where the individual chased one officer swinging that weapon at them. He says they tried tasing Prader three times but it didn't work since she had on several layers of clothing. Prader was then shot in the neck and head. Was she trying to injure one of our officers or what was happening? So I think that was the unknown at that part. But I do believe that mental health played a big role in that. It's just unfortunate that it escalated like that quickly and out of transparency, the police chief wants to release that body camera video in a week if he can, the district attorney will be reviewing this investigation reporting live from Balcony's Heights, Megan Rena Kins
