[Music] whoa back that up actually getting nice out now we'll do yours outside okay i haven't thought about what i'm gonna say yet and i might cry but keep it rolling very light's feeling you know not bad my feet are a little raw there is a lot of barefoot running for sure silly so anyways um from the dots jenna and i just completed ironman 70.3 florida in haynes city this is the day after kind of the the postmortem if you will [Music] ooh upgrade options how much is first class 213 let's not do that it's technically a standard bag right [Music] hi i'm gonna put this bag over this bag so they can't even see it just looks like one big fan we are at san francisco once again [Music] the fire alarm went on good start how high was that ramp 15 feet [Music] thank you just fun times all around today from 4 45 wake up to a bowl of cottage cheese for breakfast on the go flat tire on the way to the airport watching our bikes fall off the ramp i think my stress strain today will be higher than actual breeze good morning good morning you could go back though because they would be so close that they probably remember you yeah and they'd be like you're back again you're like yup free of charge there's just so much that you have to do and remember and like so many little things it's horrible ready for the big ride miguel it's gonna be a hard one 40 minutes easy i took it out of the bag and i'm like the seat looks really low if that's the worst thing that happened i'm okay it went up to here [Music] turn around how you feeling how's your seat yeah seat is okay i think i got it where i need it to be 30 degrees hotter than we're used to oh my god 100 more humidity it's almost one o'clock so it's almost time to eat let's eat when we got our airbnb we made sure to get a pool so we can get our swims in easily we're here for [Music] business [Music] three one hundreds on the 15 seconds [Music] this is a hell of a workout [Music] [Music] always ready where are we we are buoys there's a monster that lives in this lake slimebow it's slime but it's called slimeball jelly looking thing it's 20 feet long [Music] right [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] water is like 75 and i didn't wear a wetsuit today but tomorrow i will wear a wetsuit if the rules allow because you know speed how long are we running for uh 15 minutes oh gosh i can't run that fast we just did about a thousand yards in a late with the friendliest group of people and now we're doing a little jog oh big should never feel panicked until the last three miles honestly if the weather is like this i can deal with it it's not hot it's just very humid dealing with it in a way that isn't different from what we have been doing is going to be very wrong like you need to deal with it as if it's like horrible like really drench yourself with water and drink lots and yeah [Music] no no no she did it so sweaty yeah you're gross humidity what a concept i had the best volunteer earlier his name was tom watch out [Music] [Music] so the goal is to just get enough calories in your system you don't want to skimp on breakfast before a long race so what the all the coffee is going to a very exciting edition of big day oats [Music] we're gonna go heavy on this [Music] i'm making some big i day some too [Music] good morning i'm so excited you you look excited does it feel like a big day oat racing the focus that you're seeing now hopefully we can carry over to the race if not it's okay if it's spent here [Music] miguel is 350 255. is that 400 say that again miguel's power targets is 350 watts the walk to transition [Music] no wetsuit no wetsuit any last thoughts for the for the fans oh no all right this is coach conrad sherpa alex they're ready to crush it today so we're excited and it's going to be an awesome awesome day it was just a very controlled easy swim percentage of the race do you think you swim backstroke um five percent not a lot miguel and i started whoa i thought i was gonna lose him completely i was like i'm gonna hold on to your feet for as long as possible you just swam two minutes faster than the fastest pro man all right you got this just relax stay arrow put up power you got this i was trying to put on my shoes and noticed that my swim skin was still on you're two minutes ahead of the fastest pro woman right now nice work nice work pulled off onto the side dumped my bike pulled off my swim cam threw it behind a bush and then i was like i'm gonna go pick up miguel and jenna swam 28 minutes jenna 2803 rockin time that is up there with the pro so now it's about just relaxing on the bike putting out appropriate power staying arrow right now jenna is first overall for the women's amateur race and miguel is third overall and it's a pretty tight pack the conditions were absolutely horrendous relative to what i'm used to to what jenna's used to 85 90 degrees outside with like literally 100 humidity always be eating always be wedding and always be passing we're trying to figure it out but it looks like jenna may have gotten a flat tire or something i was directed the wrong way i ended up turning right when i was supposed to go straight and went two miles down a row that i wasn't supposed to go down you got the qualm on that stretch though yeah i got a qualm but she's still um and 10 minutes back so she still has a chance to qualify for the world championship focus for the entire ride really again was to conserve energy i didn't hit my target power this isn't the race [Music] here we go miguel you're in third third place two and a half three minutes behind approximately if you can hold third you can get his pro card um we'll see started cramping like really badly around like mile 43 my quads and my hand strength i knew that i would be having trouble on the run the first couple miles of the run just about switching gears and telling myself not to be in a hurry you can win you're in second overall you're on second overall right just hold that form cool down fast cadence relax the upper body you can do this literally about halfway through the run leg about three minutes behind the guy in first overall and miguel looked like a spring chicken and the guy in first place was was dying he was crawling he was walking there were some ladies rushing me and i just said don't rush any faster than i was trying to stay as calm as possible all of a sudden felt like i couldn't breathe and could not take in any deep breath at all and was just hyperventilating and it could have been psychological a very nice officer came over to me and asked if i wanted to go sit in the shade with him of course i wasn't gonna do that because i knew i would never get up this this all begs the question why do we do this sport that's all right that's all right i called it a mile seven and a half it doesn't matter just have fun right now have fun right now you were waiting for us don't make me cry it's just a race [Music] yeah you aren't a person to give up like you've never not finished a raise but i also told myself that there's a very fine line between having grit and being stupid i was right there at that line [Music] miguel he's 30 seconds back he's 30 seconds back i was prepping myself for this for these last three miles find 10 seconds per mile for the last three you can do this just dig it's almost over [Music] my hands literally started to tingle and like go nuts use his arms i kept telling myself look like you feel like vomiting now but you can vomit all you want at the end of the race like it's fine just finish and then luckily the race ended at exactly 13.1 miles and then i crossed the line iron man told me i was the second age grouper to cross the line some other stuff happened i knew i'd won by 14 seconds fairly was a very exciting virtual race the champ how do you feel man i'm in stock it's one thing to think you can do it and it's another thing to actually i haven't had beer for four weeks so i have to kind of ease my way into it post race jenna and miguel we convened yay [Music] we're picking up the award we're back last couple of hours [Music] congratulations on first place we can put a little overall sticker on it if you want we're ready for you right over here they're ready i was paying 616 today let's go eat some mexican food taco the out enchiladas and taco for jenna this is all tacos for alex burrito that's the heat up oh i don't even have money with me oh man will you do it whoa [Music] here it is [Music] i don't know why more people don't bring their normatex to the park it's a good place to do it minus the sweaty legs it feels like a hot tub in here right now it's like a sauna you
