hello everyone in this video we're going to look at the steps to create a full backup of windows 11. a full backup means creating a copy of everything on your computer including the windows 11 installation files settings apps and your personal files on windows 11 you can do this with the system image backup feature which is a feature deprecated on this version but it is still available and you can at least use it to create a temporary backup when you need to replace a hard drive or rollback after an upgrade for example if you want to keep an up-to-date backup of your files you should be using the file history feature or a cloud service like onedrive unless you're proactive and you create full backups every single day okay so here is how to backup windows 11 to an external hard drive first connect a usb hard drive with enough space to create the backup and then open start and look for control panel and open the app and then go to system security and then click on file history then click the system image backup option then click the create assistant image option using this option select the drive where you want to back up the computer and then click next and because i only have one hard drive you don't get the option but if you have multiple hard drives you can select them here and then just click the start backup button to create the full backup of windows 11. once the full backup has been completed you will get this prompt to create a system repair disk but you can escape this option because you can use the advanced setup settings on windows 11 to access the recovery tools or you can also use the windows 11 usb bootable media to access the same feature so for now we're just going to click no and then we're gonna click close and now the full backup has been completed now if you want to restore your computer using a backup first open start and look for the settings app then go to system and then access the recovery page then click the restart now button for the advanced setup setting and then click the restart button now in the advanced startup settings click on troubleshoot then click advanced options and then click the c-more recovery options link and then select the system image recovery option just make sure that before you go through this process make sure to connect the usb hard drive to the computer with the most current backup in here select the use the latest available system image and as you can see we're restoring the backup created on this date and if you have different backups you can select this option and select that backup from the list now click next we are restoring the same hard drive so we're just going to click next but if you were using a brand new hard drive that you're trying to restore the backup to you could also select the format and repartition the disks and here just click next and the last step is just to click the finish button and the wizard will take over and restore the backup on the computer i don't need to restore the computer from backup so i'm just going to cancel and i'm going to exit out and go back to the windows 11 desktop and that's pretty much it that's how you backup and restore a computer running windows 11. remember to like the video leave your comments subscribe to the channel if you haven't done that yet and i just hope this video was informative for you and i would like to thank you for viewing
