We're at this house and I'm gonna go through and explain what we're going to be doing here we did an assessment here a couple months ago and uh when it rains really bad the customer was getting like a lot of water in the basement and have to sump pump it out and he doesn't have a in-ground sump pump so you would have to do it by hand and just with the hose get it out the window so uh he had small gutters on here before and uh with the gutter guards and the gutter guards had the real small screen on there and when it rains it's hard the water would just go right over and not even go into the gutters so we suggested he gets new gutters while he was getting a new roof anyway so he got the larger gutters he got the four by fours and without the gutter guards and what we're going to do here is the ground is pitched towards the house over there and there's a big hump what his walkway is he doesn't want his walkway in there so we're going to take out that little this is Stepping Stones we're taking that out and we're going to pitch everything away from the house also we're going to take the downspouts get this pipe out of there put it Underground we're also going to put window wells in and raise the soil by the house because uh you can see here this is higher here everything just goes flows and just goes slams into the house goes right into the house so what we're going to do here is build this up a little on this side leave a swale here in the middle so the water goes down into the backyard which is a nice Hill and then we're also going to tie in two other gutters we're going to tie in this gutter right here and he hasn't had a problem with this gutter but just to make it not just flow and look ugly like that he wants to tie this one in also so we're going to take this one in and tie it in and it's just going to come out to about here and this is a nice big hill so the water will just bubble out of here out of the outlet and it will just go down the hill and dissipate into the ground instead of just emptying by the house like that the way it is yeah so hopefully he won't have any more water in the basement and putting the window wells in here is definitely going to help a lot since all the water like I said just goes down and hits the house there so we'll stop that from happening also okay let's get started let's get started hi getting ready to work I'm ready to watch okay are you digging the window wells by hand no no you why do we have this thing then can't do but a house we just needed a reason to plant more grass seed yeah all right I told you Nick's gonna dig it by hand this is hard where's his monster you need your monster Nick I had it all right we got one in all nice and level all nice we just got to caulk the inside back Tom's marking this one Nick just made the hole for the anchor we use 3/8. sleeved anchors and these are the anchors that we use nice see these anchors I'm gonna say go in you screw them in and the bottom flares out and pulls into the concrete as you can see here tom is tightening them up and that flares out the back which makes it hold on to the concrete really well okay like a drywall screw like a drywall screw how those work so here we got both the window wells in Nick is just tightening up the anchor sleeves and then we're going to caulk the inside Dawn it's concentrating very hard well on this caulk it's also hard to get out it's so thick nice this is the caulk we like to use for window wells we think it's pretty and it works good too all right both the window wells are secure and they are all caulked waterproofed yep I see the caulk it's all caulked okay we're getting ready to put the clips on the window well covers we're just putting the clips on the window well covers I gotta get something to hold up let's see if you can get a couple more here's the little clamps and if you can see the more Nick tightens it the clamp goes in which makes it stick really hard onto the window well see and you can even loosen it look at that that's awesome Nick I'm going to tighten it actually just kidding guys so these clamps are really nice for these window wells keeps them on they don't blow off in the Wind it's the right under these guys there you go really strong nice clamps are on there Nick it's going to snap them on you guys spent like 3 000 dollars sending me to window well class expect you to you expect me to know how to do it this is Nick Ty the window well guy [Laughter] here's Tom's taking out the stepping stones and apparently there was a concrete sidewalk under there and they concreted Stepping Stones onto it so it was not as easy as we thought oh well you never know what you're gonna find here's just a little update what we did so far we got on the job today around 12 because it rained all morning so uh we're gonna finish the rest tomorrow we got this little planting bed out it had two little Roots stuck in there we're grading this because to get the water away from the house we're gonna make the uh swell right here so it goes into the back we're gonna add some soil here tomorrow we got the window wells in we just have to put the fabric and the stone inside okay so we're back at this house this morning and uh there's been just a little change of plans uh the customer just came out and wanted to know if there's any possible way that we can uh wait to do the plumbing part of the job which is tying in a downspout and putting them into the backyards and uh because he's having all the bushes along the fence taken out and uh he's just afraid that guy's gonna you know dig by where the pipes are going to go so uh we told them that's not not a problem so we'll uh we'll do the grading here and putting the soil in and putting the soil in here by the uh window wells and then we'll just come back when the other guys finished and then we will uh put the pipe in afterwards that way he's you know can run all over do whatever he wants dig wherever he wants so that should work out fine all right we're done for the day and here's a window wells if you can see we raised up over here on this side because before this was higher and the water was just going right down to the windows so now we put the window wells in there's like a swale right here so any water from rain will go down here and go into the backyard which is a hill so it will flow downhill we'll come back and do the piping once the uh landscaper comes he's coming to take out all the bushes along the whole fence so he's going to make a mess of the yard so we'll come back and do all the piping when he's finished so let me show you what we did we re-grade it here to get all the water that flows over to you know the roof when it rains it will come here and then just flow down here and either we'll go that way on that Swale or go to the backyard and then over here on the other side he wanted some soil to just uh raise this up a little bit so the water instead of sitting in this bed that he had would just flow out and just a little topsoil on the edge of his wall since water was getting behind there and it's a actually pushing out the wall a little bit so maybe that will help so like I said we'll be back when uh they're finished with the backyard [Laughter] you're not looking at this thanks for watching [Laughter] thanks for watching thanks for watching part one [Laughter] I hope you enjoyed the video
