today we're going to look at this honda eu 2200i and see if it can power your home during a power outage now for the extension cord for the generator you have a lot of options but you want to make sure you get one that's 15 amps because this is 120 volts and 15 amps and originally i had gotten this one this is a actually a 20 amp cord rated for 2500 watts and it's 10 gauge wire but i had to go back to the store and buy this one because this one didn't work out and i'll show you in a few minutes why but this the one i ended up buying is actually a 12 gauge wire also 50 feet in order to start the generator there's a few things you need to do the first you need to check the oil level and then you want to make sure you unplug any connections that you may have make sure nothing's connected to it when you start it then you want to turn the fuel filler vent cap to the on position see it's on and you also want to make sure that this eco throttle is in the off position when you're starting and then over here on the side you have the choke so you want to move that all the way to the right to the closed position also on the side here you have the engine switch right now it's an off you just want to turn it up to the on position and now all you do to start it is pull the cord so let's do that [Applause] then when it starts to turn the choke back over [Music] all right so now that it's running so you have this green light for the output indicator that means that the outlets are ready to go so all you do is plug in your extension cord plug it right in and now we'll go inside this is the home integration kit that hooks to our circuit breaker our circuit breaker is right here and so we had a licensed electrician hooked this up and what it is you open the box it has four breakers so you can pick four circuits from your home and have the electrician hook it up to this box and that way you can power these four circuits whenever the power goes out with your generator we're powering our refrigerator we have a boys room and also powers the the bathroom next to that room we have our stand-up freezer the master bedroom is on this circuit and then we also have the living room which includes our wi-fi router and we also have the girls room so it powers three bedrooms our stand-up freezer and our refrigerator one thing is not powering it's not pairing a hot water heater it's not powering the washer and dryer but those are things we can we can live without while the power is out so it covers all our basic necessities and we really like it and then i mentioned there was an issue with one of the extension cords not working out and this is why it didn't work this was the the first cord that i bought but it's actually too big to plug in to the integration kit so you don't want to get this one and this is the the next one that i got that i showed you all you have to do whenever the power goes out you got your generator running outside all you have to do is plug it into this integration kit and then see these are already on and then right now these are in the down position which means it's running off of the street power all you do is switch the switch up and it goes to generator power so if i do this right here this is my refrigerator circuit so if i do it to the middle now the refrigerator is off and then if i do it up to the generator now it's running off of generator power and i can do the same thing for the boys room just turn it off now it's on generator same thing for the freezer master bedroom and the living room our wi-fi router and the girls room so off and now all four of these circuits are now running off of the generator on the eco power and you notice with the eco throttle the generator got a lot quieter so now with the eco throttle switch on you can barely even hear the generator it's it's a lot quieter so i definitely recommend using that it makes it quieter number one and then also it saves on gas so you may have the question of how long the generator will run off of just one tank of gas and one tank is about 0.95 gallons so just under a gallon of gas and off of a quarter load for the generator that'll last about eight hours so it's it's really good on gas especially if you use that eco switch on the generator so i highly recommend it and then for the integration kit if the street power comes back on all you have to do is switch it back from generator to line and that way it's back on street power and just do that for each of the circuits and that is all you have to do we really do like this integration kit it makes it really easy to run your home off of generator power if the power goes out i'll leave a link to this in the description if you want to check it out but let me know what you think about this in the comments and thanks for watching
