go for it hey guys I hope everyone's doing pretty good today and uh I think I've got a pretty interesting one for you a few days ago I think it was Thursday I was on Facebook Marketplace and I seen an old abandoned Road Raider it's been sitting for several years and uh I believe it's a galleon and uh today's video we're gonna go see if we can't resurrect it see if it'll start and drive it about 20 miles back home it's probably going to be kind of difficult but uh I believe we can do it I'll pick you guys back up when we get there all right everybody this is the machine I purchased it's a galleon champion 720. according to the previous owner it's been sitting for at least two years and uh it kind of looks like that just a little bit of Shrubbery going on but online it's supposed to be a 30 000 pound machine and uh thought it could be a useful machine to have around so I went ahead and purchased it this machine right here is hydraulic it's not a gearbox driven one like some of the older machines this one actually has a four-cylinder two-stroke Detroit Diesel supercharged they've got the exhaust covered up but who knows how long it's been like that and uh looks like we got plenty of little friends flying around they're probably gonna get awful upset later when we try to start it um the guy that I purchased it from said that he did confirm that wasn't locked up and he said that he thought there was deer teeth missing off of the starter but uh there's several things in the hook from the starter as you can see so who knows what the real story is [Applause] well um before I purchased it I looked at the engine oil and uh it's not really showing up on camera super good but it looks like there's a little bit of water the bottom of the dipstick so our first objective is going to be draining the engine oil out of it and changing that in the filter which I've already got from uh local Napa hopefully it's correct but um then we don't have any batteries as you can see we're gonna hook up some batteries try to hook up the starter gonna change out our engine oil and check out all of our fluids out and uh I don't know we'll see if she cranks over but uh I don't know I've got hope for it some up here on top of the machine now and uh can tell you some things missing I kind of expected that though but uh it looks like we're missing a radiator cap looks like it's a little dry in there and uh guessing we won't be needing somebody's beer cooler now [Music] okay that did it guessing we're gonna have some friends around here somewhere but uh keep hearing that these old Detroits are notoriously loud so uh at least it's got a bit of a muffler on it now whenever I did look at purchasing it's greater seeing that this Detroit has got these four inspection covers on it I took those off while I was here and I was able to look up kind of each cylinder and a little bit of the piston and for what little you can see in there does look all right so maybe we've got that going for us and uh at the same time did take these two bolts out here and this hose off and pulled up the valve cover and it was a little bit Rusty in there but I don't think it was nearly bad enough to be seized by any means so we got a few things working in our favor we've even got a Billy Bob's homemade gauge cluster system going on over there with impeccable wiring who knows what that's telling us but uh because I'm not too sure what's going on in this diesel tank I brought some gas cans to my pickup over there and uh I'm Gonna Fill those up with diesel and kind of baby feed it in order to get it started and hopefully driven back home um the cab is about what you'd expect or something that's been sitting outside uncared for unloved but does have over old knuckle buster levers here and uh looks like it even comes with a free pair vice grips so that's a plus I suppose now this machine I purchased it for three thousand dollars and my thought going into it was if it's complete junk there's no way it can be saved I can scrap it for at least that much locally and uh get most of my money back but I'd be out my time the only chance this machine is good it could be super useful to me and I don't know this video does well enough maybe we can make a series out of it and uh it depends on if you guys like that but uh I'll pick you guys back up whenever we're ready to start throwing some batteries to it and changing some oil foreign [Music] [Music] down here underneath the machine now about to uh drain some of the engine oil out and uh looks like some of our hubs are a little bit leaky but what do you expect it's probably 40 year old machine we're gonna drain out the engine oil put in a new filter and throw on some batteries and pick up some fuel to it we're gonna see if we can't get her to start gotta clear out some brush through here to get through it's rather grow it up wasn't it okay so man ready to start a big machine right there all right started man let's get up dude yep drying the wall and finish it pass me that bucket chief all right part 46. there we go exactly you ready just about hold on all right here the water comes get it yep leave all that water in there [Music] oh my gosh that's a ton of water [Music] oh there's the oil some of it okay that looks more brick [Applause] real question is are we gonna be able to hold it all between the two things oh boy here comes the swap oh okay good that was smarter now try not to spill this everywhere okay try again we'll see if that hits it now I really hope this whole this was the cooler that was on the exhaust pipe I decided to repurpose it look alike oh there we go not seeing anything metal come out yet which is why you say that man yeah I think it was higher than we both expected here comes the owner guys we'll hop off for a second all right guys we're back had a quick little chat with the previous owner this here is our engine oil filter it's a cartridge filter and uh we're gonna go ahead and change that while we're at just because all the water that was in there try to give its best chance at Living possible what's it look like in there there's water in it a little bit of water in it good sign no metal chunks yet I don't know so it's still doing good in that that department I think we might be doing them a favor if we spill some oil keep the grass down for a while just kind of cleaning up the spot where the filter goes right now so Russell's got it all cleaned up now he's gonna put the uh new filter in get it installed now got the batteries carried over here let me try to get those set up as well don't have high hopes for this tray holding both of these big batteries I mean that's my foot right there against it baby weigh some in fact I think I'll make Wessel record it for if it breaks get it on camera [Music] got one still holding we leave it there I think if you added a lead fishing weight right now it'd probably break you can feel it Flex each time you lowered it all right I guess we'll get some cables and pick it up I think that's how I'm gonna want it oh yeah pain they've got the packages now it goes off the price maybe a bush fix [Music] Ed so it's called in Africa Bush mechanics bin here has any [Music] in the there's a ton of bush mechanics around they teach us the lessons nobody ever teach them what teaches them lessons though do they yep they keep us busy and it's true [Music] it's just gonna Arc out the solenoid real quick see if it engages or not the guy that had it last said that it wouldn't engage [Music] he doesn't engage he broke off the shoreline red wires take it apart yeah we're gonna take it apart and see if we can Bush fix some wires on it give Africa special exactly all right yeah foreign [Music] [Music] oil pan drain plug gonna start filling up with the oil right there in just one sec nap is best all right we didn't film it but uh we got the starter removed from the machine the reason we took it off was uh the solenoid wouldn't engage with the lower half of the starter so we're gonna see if we can't take it off Maybe clean up the solenoid we don't want to do that we might see if we can't get a a new one at the parts store just broken up right there connection points to the song right yep connectors broke on the stone line all right guys I'll catch you up to speed a little bit the camera and battery died the starter that is on the machine the solenoid on it was bad my dad had this starter on the 9370 stiger it was a spare solenoids different on it but it should hook up the same for us the starter and all that it's basically the same so we're gonna try to bolt it up on here and uh get to work on getting the fuel connected and Bleed It Out and all that uh set you guys up somewhere to watch [Laughter] [Laughter] just calculating people we totally knew that was gonna work first all right people closer step at a time all right I put you guys down for a minute so we focus up but uh we got it bumped over I kind of think the Pistons are just kind of sticky not like really locked up because you know the starter turned it over itself but once it made that first Revolution just kind of went from there so now we're pulling off the fuel line leaving the bottom of the diesel tank up there pulled off down here and uh we've got some diesel in that can there we're gonna hook up this hose here plummet up and then we're gonna work on bleeding the fuel system to hopefully start it just in that time of you know making a couple revolutions when I Arc out the starter smoking some black smoke so it's a good sign before we get too carried away while he's pulling that off I'm gonna have a look at this air cleaner real quick there's the racetrack beside the racetrack that this uh this bad boy graded for several years until they decide to park it but she's about to get some love again time for a look at the air filter [Music] all right beautiful looks like Cooper changed this air filter on the inner side in the year 2000. go for it that was just the fuel we had in her up so I started again what we started again [Music] [Music] got some issues chief belts Chiefs man why don't you care about the belt I'm gonna put it on it's just a fan it's just a fan just a fan exactly looks like the one going the alternator is just a touch loose it's all right though we don't need that we have charged batteries [Music] how it moves like this guess that's why I threw the belt off yep see that crank pulley down here we had some play side to side and up down so uh we're gonna pull these inspection covers off again and wiggle it see what it looks like when we do that we'll show you all when that happens foreign opened all these covers here just make sure all the Pistons are moving up and down there wasn't one that wasn't moving and it looks like they all was he's all smoking so it's combusting so we're gonna put these covers back on then we're gonna hop up top pull the valve cover off make sure there's no stuck valves let's kind of have a look at that and uh I don't know maybe I don't own a an anchor Maybe [Music] man get open man crank it pass off the camera foreign man yep I don't want to run it too hard you know feeling some cool or some water up into it now since we don't have a radiator cap somebody else lost that for us [Music] all right thank you hydraulics [Music] no hydraulics things should have been just revved up more or should have more than enough at idle to lift it build up some pressure this belt cinched itself down so we was running the engine uh with it off and set yourself down so we're just gonna go and finish taking it off if we can because nobody gets whipped no pressure no engine oil pressure I wonder about this one back here is this gauge back here on the intake hooked up this mechanical it should still show it shouldn't it or would it be off I mean each bumping will yeah we've seen that that line over there what's the next move chief oh next move is we get we close it up just after fixed take the damper off check that belts on you know yep should that would knock a lot of our problems out right now that's the next move at least we started it's not locked up seems like the internals are probably good that's some big things knocked out of the way we didn't know looks like we had to do some welding or maybe get another piece where that thermostat's at that's all cracked out we're gonna have to fix that little bolt hole leak where that sensor goes we got to get a radiator cap and uh do what damper needs to come off and uh you need to get our the starter that was on it fixed up so we have a good starter for next time all right this is just after we kind of decide we're at the fixing things and come back to it and hit it again it's going to reinstall our valve cover here and that little breather hose this crank pulley down here in this drive shaft right the pop the drive shaft off and pull the crank pulley off I think the rubber for the dampener is bad so it's kind of letting it move around not it's not too good for it and we did that we're gonna get the pieces of that leftover belt there off and uh we'll come back and uh we'll hopefully have our water leaks fixed and hopefully pulley back on we'll put the drive shaft back on we'll put on a couple new belts and uh we'll get our other starter fixed up and uh hopefully we'll be ready to hit it for real next time drive it somewhere exactly we need to try that all right guys so I guess this will be the third time that I've gone up to work on the road grader and um I don't know either way this time whether it comes under its own power which I don't think it's going to because uh don't have a new dampener pulley or pulley with a dampener in it yet so uh probably gonna bring it home with the tractor from the farm and uh probably another part to this video but uh I don't know I've got a lot of editing to do to make this all work together and make sense but it's first video so I guess I'll probably only get better from here but uh that's what I'm working on now I'll pick you guys up when I get back up there all right guys I attractor I love this job now there it's probably going to be an hour hour and 15 minutes total trip we're gonna try to lift up the front of the grader but the three-point hitch an easier finding Aid events right now and everything so it's just really kind of a big deal to go work on it and I don't know just make it a lot better it's a lot of power to OLS that uh it's definitely the second part of the series I think once we get it back to the shop will probably be the next thing all right guys I made it up here you're gonna use the three-point hitch on the tractor to lift up the uh the plow trying to chain it up or lock it up then we're gonna lift up the front end a little grader try to pull it home [Applause] I don't think foreign [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] foreign [Applause] [Music] it's very cold there man come up uh thank you I can't thank him like he's gonna think it's low pressure but he's gonna take the last thread man foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] now we're going to hook up this biggest chain around the front a arms we're going to use the three-point hitch of the tractor to lift up the front of the grader and we're going to try to keep it to where the hook and the three-point kind of push into the grader if I need a stop for some reason [Applause] [Music] all right guys we gotta lift it up now the lighting's pretty poor because [Applause] man I'm kind of thinking we're gonna have to take off the wheels because I'm already gonna have to make kind of a sharp turn here or do something to get out of here I'm pretty sure I could make it going through there but that's one of those places you don't want to try you know we don't want to go fish the 400 as well you just don't believe in it because it's a deer there's one of his 72 40s he'd swear by we got a little more blade clearance now and uh I don't know gonna be kind of sketchy but shake hands of danger right all right we're gonna Buzz the last nut off the wheel here we're gonna try to take the wheels off so I have a turning clearance oh he's lucky enough that it was loose I think we just might have done ourselves out for the other side though spec for these guys to film themselves I'm filming you and that's hard enough [Music] [Music] [Music] last one step might stand off to the side for that one or not [Music] kick it like you mean it all right guys the camera wasn't set up for it but I didn't have a very big hammer but uh it just took my uh 2 and 5 16 ball hitch tapped around the edges while I stood up there and kicked on the sidewall and we eventually got it but we're gonna try to get these tires loaded up in the bed of my truck and then we're gonna load the hood up if we have room maybe and then uh I guess we're gonna try to start the journey home foreign foreign loaded up in here and then we're gonna see if we have room for the hood Maybe all right [Music] now there's a hook in the bottom all right guys and there it goes everything is going taking it home now and off she goes all right guys we made it back with the grater whistle followed me the whole way everything's good guys yep mostly but uh made it back with it I think so far everything that I filmed is going to condense down into one video let's call that part one and uh there's still plenty left to do with it and uh we'll just kind of make a series out of it I suppose but it's here they rode all the way just like this but I don't know should be pretty interesting project to work on there's an never-ending shortage of things to work on here but I guess we'll just add to the list I guess that's what adds to the fun of it because the list never never ends but I'll get this uploaded and hopefully you guys enjoy it
