Wife Takes Over the Backhoe? But Can She Operate It?

there you go now come up I bring it over here and dump it [Applause] [Music] well what's up guys this is Daniel from arms family homestead and in today's video I want to cover a subject that I've been getting a few questions about and that is at least on my channel you guys have seen that I use a lot of rental equipment from GP rents Great Plains Kubota and I always say I'm not an expert equipment operator I'm not guys I'm a trooper I'm in law enforcement have been for 12 years I did grow up on a farm driving a few tractors but I am NOT an equipment expert but a lot of people say they're they hesitate in going and renting equipment like this or a skid steer or a trencher backhoe something like that because they're not sure how to operate it and I've said multiple times on my channel this stuff is so easy to operate something like this la 47 tractor with the backhoe attachment in the grapple bucket on the front it's a hydrostatic tractor literally you put it and drive push the pedal forward to go forward push the pedal in reverse to go backwards that's very simple the grapple one one button on your joystick controls the up and down open and closing of the bucket but how about something like the backhoe now I've ran a few backhoes I've operated a few back codes you guys have seen that here on the channel but I've never once operated a Kubota three point attachment backhoe so this is the Kubota BT 1000 I want to get on it start it up show you guys how how the controls work like I said I've never I've honestly never even moved the boom on this backhoe it's been here for several days I haven't used it yet it's just been so muddy I'm gonna get on it show you the controls and then I've got a special surprise because I know you guys may not believe you may not believe me in saying that I really am not that familiar with this I'm gonna get my wife out here she is a total novice when it comes to tractors and I'm gonna see if she can learn within a few minutes learn the controls set the backhoe up and maybe dig up a stump or something like that so let's get on it so before I get my wife out here and try to teach her how to operate this thing we'll go over the basic trolls with you real quick I'm going to get on the tractor basically the Kubota backhoe attachment has four control levers two of them lower your outriggers you always want to put your outriggers down on the ground lift the back of that tractor up just a little bit because that's going to support it's going to give you all of your stability when you're reaching out and digging you don't want to pull your tractor over or pull you move your tractor around too much those two controls one for either side there and then two joysticks they go forward and backwards and left-to-right and that's going to troll control all the functions of the backhoe so let's hop on here and I'll run you through the controls real quick now right now in the locked position you've got to handle down here to release your your whole backhoe mechanism so we're going to slightly pull back and release that okay so my left joystick controls the main lift of the backhoe so it's going to push it away it goes away from me pull it to me it comes towards me left and right is going to be on the left joystick left sins that around to the left right brings the brings it around towards you okay now the right joystick is going to control the bucket itself on the end of the hose so it's going to control this part and the elbow in the middle this part so push it away it all goes away from me pull it to me comes back left and right is my bucket the buckets doing this now I know some of you really probably aren't going to believe that I've never operated this machine for but I honestly 100 percent can say I've never operated this give it a little bit of gas bottle it up a little bit so as I was saying the left joystick turns it to the left push it to the right but the backhoe goes to the right okay forward it backwards my lift of the arm okay right chili stick push it away from me the arm goes away left and right controls the bucket to stick control in the new room at the same time get a little practice on it [Applause] you're gonna reach out there dude you're gonna want to raise it up pull it back into you you're gonna move it to the left and don't push it away down there we reach out there get us another scoop [Music] there we go pull it back in super simple to operate guys and there really is nothing to bring it back up it locks in the minik in them it locks and the mechanism here so when you're driving around it doesn't bounce the outriggers like I said you just want to these are very important these outriggers are very important you do not want to operate the backhoe with outriggers up because if you try to move this thing left and right it's going to shift the weight and then when you try to pull you're going to pull your tractor over very important always have your outriggers on the ground use the outriggers to level out the tractor take the weight off the tires and you can use your front-end loader push it forward that front-end loader is going to give you your third point of stability so this thing's very stable and you can do whatever you need to bring it back walking place [Applause] there we go as I said guys I've never operated this machine before this is the first time I've ever used that commode a three-point hitch backhoe and it's super easy to operate the controls are very very easy to learn I think within five or ten minutes anyone could be out here operating this thing you're not going to be an expert at it but if you just needed it to use the backhoe to dig up a couple stumps in your yard or you need it you know to move some big rocks dig dig a few holes dig a water line something like that it would be very very feasible without any experience at all to be able to go rent something like this and get the work done on their property and not have to buy it or hire someone to do it because that gets expensive in a hurry all right so I've got change of plans here a little bit I've got two total novices that are gonna try this thing out so how many total combined hours of tractor operation time do you think you two have he would never show us how to do it I'm gonna failure yeah I'm a failure I've not taught these two how to run a tractor so today's the day I just want to prove to you guys that something like this Kubota rental backhoe is really that simple to operate there's not a lot to it and even somebody with with no background in tractors and equipment can learn to operate this stuff real quick go rent something like this get the work done and get back to your world all right 16 year old you got this literally all you can do start it up that control pedal that foot pedal over there forward four forward backwards four rivers [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] so with just a couple minutes of practice he's able to drive it figured all the controls out able to run the bucket drill any practice on this big log here i'ma see if he can pick up this log for him [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] no you may not believe me but it really is that simple the little tractor is so easy to operate just within a couple minutes once you learn the controls how to maneuver everything and you can get a lot of work done in a little or something like that even if you have no experience at all Westin honestly I know I'm I feel bad he's 16 years old and really doesn't drive a tractor got to learn sometime I learned when I was a lot younger than 16 probably too early but he's gonna learn and just simple as that that was super easy within a couple minutes you learn how to drive it operate running loader operate the grapple bucket you can get work done here on the farm [Applause] so what do you think is it hard is it easy it's for you it's pretty simple to operate it yeah good job how about a kiss rolled a little kiss well maybe if I teach mom how to drive it she'll give me a kiss all right you're up to bat you ready for this yes look at me we got to go over some basic instructions first there's no sleep well there is a few belt [Applause] so teaching Weston there on the front-end loader in the grapple bucket was probably the easy part my goal now is to see if I can teach my wife to use the backhoe well enough in just a few minutes to dig up a stump here in our yard we'll see she's never ever been on a backhoe in her life I promise you well you'd better watch out mom I might run over you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] I'm gonna give her a couple minutes just to learn the controls what everything does what those two joysticks move and how they work and how to multitask with the two joysticks and then we're gonna have redic this stump out of the ground [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I was pretty cool right there I don't know I don't know if you guys really understand that's so awesome she has never done that before she's never operated a backhoe now within about I would say probably ten to fifteen minutes she was able to learn how to use the controls dig that stump up now she's going to spin around with a grapple bucket grab ahold of it haul it out of here and we got a stump out of our way down [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] bellow your niche think you can read it I bet you could I bet you could do it so what's your honest opinion it's pretty easy hot tobacco is kind of tricky on the you get the way you're going you know what you're doing to handles but seriously awesome breast do you think someone that's a total novice could could call up a company like this rent a piece of equipment and get work done to their house yes absolutely I mean I know you've kind of helped and got it a little bit but if I had to do it by myself I could I can figure it out on my own either see what you say I'm no expert did you repeat that no just about this I'm an expert on a lot of other you heard it you heard it right here first she said I am no expert so anyways that just kind of shows I wanted to get some people out here that aren't equipment operators that haven't been on a tractor their whole life just to show you guys that you really can go out and rent equipment from a company like like GP rents Great Plains Kubota or any rental company in your area you can go do these things you can use this equipment if you if you're not sure about how to operate it or something contact the guys at GP rents or your local rental place they'll coach you they'll give you a few minutes of instruction and show you how to run everything get it to your house I guarantee you within twenty to thirty minutes you'll be comfortable operating a piece of equipment like this it's really not hard especially I mean I'm kind of biased with Kubota right now this Kubota equipment is so simple to operate so guys that's all
