WHY WE’RE BAD AT DATING

hi I'm Shane and I'm Courtney and we we're both very awkward yeah in case you haven't noticed we realized we're the most awkward people we know and especially when it comes to the realm of dating he's gone on a bunch of dates he's been on quite a few he's he's like no I'm fairly good on like a you often say you've never been on a date I don't think that's true I think that's what you're labeling that I've never been a date where it's like a guy I just meet and then we're like haha cool okay cut to get do some time I'll either that doesn't happen at all or I just say no because I'm scared even if you want to go on a date with that guy I usually don't like that urge to say no is there for reason we legitimately wanted to see who is worse at dating so we decided to make this show just for that but mainly sad so I think my common theme with dating and my general awkwardness is like I have no idea what's going on I have I'm so oblivious I barely even know it's a date first example I was invited by this guy I'd worked with briefly to go to a dinner and I was like I'll eat like we'd say movie - and he was like great and so is dinner in a movie dinner and you didn't know was a date I was like stick a can't wait to eat and watch and he picks me up he looks really nice I was definitely in like this exact outfit and we like sat down like looking at my menu I'm just gonna draw like this is our table and they need a little foreground that's me right there my pretty little hair and this is just shaky boy huh and he's like that's work that's like oh yeah he's he knows so that's you you're a bunch of tentacles yeah he's like a weird pac-man and I had pretty hair then - all right it's kind of like like that oh this is foreground this is your shoulder I thought that was you yes bro so this is our table and he's like talking we're talking and I was like you know I just do this thing because I'm credible that we need to we need to address that you are at Red Lobster Red Lobster you're at Red Lobster okay so we're talking I'm like oh I'm so quirky I do this thing and he's like yeah that's so funny it's like why I love spending so much time with you and I was like huh and then right then waiter shows up there are super closest is them with their little pad and there they come up right as he said that right as he says you know I love spending so much time with you and I was like oh and then she's like I think I changed the subject after the meal like I know what that was we have the meal we're like hanging out it's having a good time and we like go to the movie and I realized he like insisted on paying for the ticket and then he insisted on paying for the popcorn and then rows were sitting down that's what I realized oh this a date oh this a date oh and I easily when I found that out I was like very upset in my head I was upset I was like I was very I was like I do not want that with this guy at all like we had worked on a project together and he was kind of my boss in that project and he was like I was just like he was just not my type at all like he didn't tell me it was a date so I tense up in the movie as I oh no and I'm like so shocked but I still enjoy the crap out of Life of Pi cuz I was a great movie especially in theaters that's why I said I still exist cuz you didn't need to see movies experience what are you doing what is that very nice French surprisingly how you are he was like I am sorry I am by the do I enjoy working with you very much one of those guys and this is nothing on him it's just sometimes guys do this like a dead giveaway you kind of realize they're in tears when they call you miss something but guys wanting me miss Courtney it's like is that what guys do sometimes it's the milady guys that do it sometimes so I need to make sure if I like a girl I stopped calling her be like okay miss maybe he's just a jerk Oh Security's gonna try and do like the move oh not the moves oh he's really scary midway through the movies like he dropped me off and he like got out of the car to say goodbye I definitely did like and he was like you can run but you cannot hide for me Emilio I will get you much time and then another one I this guy definitely wanted to take me to dinner and it was like I I kind of understood like yes this is a dating scenario and he wanted to take me to dinner but like I didn't realize he wanted to like sit down so in my head I was like I'm trying panda so we got panda and ate it in his truck because I was like that's what I want but I didn't realize he wanted to like take me until he's like oh yeah she took me and took me to Panda Express but he really thought I was more of a Chili's kind of girl okay do you like my art the arts actually very good hold on let's give him a little like like ones above the bundle spam is gone there for most of my life I was single but I would occasionally ask out a girl uh terrifying though I'm not good at it I would often wait I would honestly wait like until like something happened where I would just get their number like organically which is not something that happens often this is this is the story of a girl so I'm I'm like nineteen twenty it takes place at nineteen twenty uh and I'm at a party this is me at parties nervous party heads to parties uh hero and I'm there with people and there's this girl there who's really cute and we're talking we're like riffing we're like whatever and she's very sweet very cool and I decided to ask for her number and she says yeah of course like we're about to leave so I'm just like hey can I can I get your number uh would that be cool and she said yes but it's it's one of the most nerve-racking experiences of my life I would so much rather I would so much rather getting on a stage in front of five million people yeah then ask for our girls no you explain the physical trauma so literally I get like I get such bad nervousness that I'll be like shaking it's like it's like this cage here and I'm just like and and and what's really bad is I get it super in my head so in my head and I'm thinking a million thoughts and I'm just like you're gonna say something and she's gonna be weirded out and she's gonna be like no but then she's gonna tell her friends like all this weird dude asked for my number and they're like oh my god we should beat him up and for the rest of my life this gang of people are gonna be following me around in their cars looking to beat me up because I asked for a girl's number when I shouldn't have anyway so she gave me so she gave me your number I'd say my hair was actually more like like it's not necessary emo it was emo so yeah there's those eyes my eyes are gone um so she gives me her number I text her this is a few years ago it's probably still on the range when I could have called her wina that's not weird I think nowadays if you I asked for a girl's number then a day or so later I call her my murderer a texter and I go hey would you like to go out sometime would you like to grab dinner sometime I think I think I went for it I think I hate a whip for dinner is like that's a little too much it's too much for a first date yeah but it's tough when you're younger I think this is when I was under drinking age so I can't spike hey Can I grab you a drink sometime yeah so Mike you want to like grab dinner or whatever grab food or something and she goes oh eyyy I'm busy most nights but I can grab lunch I say okay cool I text her an hour before we meet up and I go hey do you need a ride and she's like yeah that'd be awesome so I'm picking her up something in okay she's we get this we're getting this I'm picking her up in my car we're gonna go like grab lunch I pick her up in my my car it's like this it's a Honda Civic it's the old Civic I have a new Civic now this I've had to civics I had one Honda Civic it got rear-ended to death a couple years back and then I got a new Civic like the Phoenix that rose from the ashes so I pick her up in my car I pick her up in my car and we drive to this like kind of one of those like shopping areas deep in the valley and then we went to an Italian restaurant there yeah we got lunch I know and and very similar to this situation she had dark hair and I wasn't the Pringles guy what were you wearing oh so I had this jacket I had this Edward : like jacket but not as epic and just dark and like emo so we talked for like a solid an hour and a half two hours we're like having good conversation we're like yeah that's so interesting by the way I so nervous on dates I can't express this enough how nervous I am but I I'm very good at covering it up and I've gotten better at it over the years I still get so nervous that I will feel myself shaking yeah on dates I'm sure but but I go into this this like CW version of myself and this is very embarrassing but I go to this version where like just like talk about stuff like talk about like what are your hobbies that's awesome no yeah that's really cool ya know like ya know that's that's I'm saying yeah totally I know you and it's like so different that's like when Michael Scott like it's not okay that's this is be doing a bad rendering nice of my no that's not exactly what I know but it's kind of like that is it I put on I'm trying not to put on a face but I end up kind of doing it cuz I can't be silly cuz I'm like bumps if I'm this guy we reduce me that's not true hey hey we keep going you're great so an hour and a half of conversation and it's going great seems like it's going great freaking two hours into this date I was like oh yeah Joshua Tree have you ever been there she goes oh yeah I've gone there with my boyfriend before and I'm just like that's gonna make more noise wait what if she with all this time check she meant like the boyfriend at the time no she meant her boyfriend her boyfriend current real current boyfriend so I know what some of you were probably thinking you're going oh she's clearly just saying that she's not interested in me and wants to get out of it which is a smart thing however uh later on I did check she did actually have a boyfriend on Facebook on Facebook I checked she had a boyfriend I should have just there I should have there and me now I might have been like I'm so sorry this has been a misunderstanding I totally thought this was a date I picked her up in my car you're saying that's weird this is weird it's weird so we hang out for like another hour like you're too nice cuz I'm just like I'm like I don't wanna be a jerk I don't wanna be like oh you a boyfriend I hear God just ghost her in person but I I hung out with her for another hour then I dropped her off at her place said goodbye and then immediately called my friend I was like yeah she's like how was the date I go she has a boyfriend she's like what oh that was that [Music] you don't really say date yeah I would like to date would you like to grab dinner for a date uh so I think my explanation in my head is that she was like me where she was so horribly afraid of hurting my feelings that she agreed and went along with it all the wait but see it's so much worse it's so much worse it's so much worse to do that it's so much better to just say no don't be afraid of rejecting people I'm terrified of rejecting people to the point where I've gone on way more dates than I should have with someone I've literally gone on like one date with someone been like oh I'm not that into that person but they've wanted to keep dating and I've been like yeah let's hang out more and we've gone on like four or five dates and I've just been like I don't think I'm into this but I feel like I don't know how to end it marry this yes I'm here forever um hey but at least you have like the ability like you go on then like at for me the nervousness is not worth it to me like I will not I will not put myself through like because it is exhausting like I get so shaky so nervous I'm trying to be cool I don't even know what I don't think I even have the ability to create like a chill version of myself for the day I'm just like awkward the whole time I I don't shut up I just keep talking because I just keep talking do keep talking like I'm doing right now because I feel like as soon as I stop so like sometimes you just got to do that you just got to fill the silence and keep your head from thinking too much I'll still explode that's rough I'm sorry it's ok what if she didn't but but see but see you didn't realize it was a date and you guys went to dinner and a movie so mine it's a little more forgiving however you did the same thing yeah but I didn't I didn't have a boyfriend you didn't everybody didn't lie well she also didn't lie either she never said I don't know maybe we're just very dumb they are very dumb uh see I would rate yours on an awkward scale of actually like a it's a 4 out of 10 ok I'll take ya for 10 I'm gonna give yours I'd say it's about five ah I feel like there's worse situations you could be in well I have more awkward stuff in my life that's for sure yeah well let us know in the comments below who you think is more awkward who do you
