While I am vehemently opposed to almost everything the regime in Iran stands for, I kind of respect how they dealt with western powers in a way that so far have always come out in their favor. compared to the way "other nations" in the region deal with the US they seem a lot more strategically advanced.

This sort of oversimplifies why the Iran deal was heavily criticized in the first place.
By lifting those sanctions against Iran & allowing their economy to recover, Iran was able to increase their funding of the Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah, Iraqi Militias and the el Assad regime in Syria. Essentially it was trading a 10 year non-nuclear Iran in exchange for increased Iranian influence throughout the Middle East.
Depending on your opinion of Iran, this is either a fair trade off or absolutely unacceptable. Regardless, I think pulling out of the JCPOA has irreparably damaged the US's reputation as a state that can be made treaties with that won't just be scraped by the next President.
Pretty informative thanks for sharing.
