Pro Football Focus ranked the Saints as the 26th best team in football for the upcoming season which is just completely absurd the saints went 7-10 last season losing five games by one score with one of the worst passing attacks in the league the team filled a massive hole at the quarterback position this off season after signing Derek Carr who by the way is a four-time pro bowler and without question one of the top 12 to 15 best quarterbacks in all of football sure Carr is 63 and 79 as a starter with just two winning seasons and no playoff wins but at the end of the day he played with some of the worst defenses in the league in an offense that lacked clear creativity and explosiveness it's hard to find many teams who have had as good of an off season as the Saints and they have the easiest schedule in the league based on 2022 records I have the Saints going 11-6 next season which should be good enough to win the nft South and secure a home field playoff game if you look at their off season they drafted Brian brzee Isaiah foski brought in fosterone coach Mark Williams who had over a thousand rushing yards last season led the league in touchdowns Kalyn Saunders coming over from the Chiefs one of my favorite players in the league Jarvis Landry Nathan Shepard just bolstering that front Kendra Miller is going to be a stunt oh my God a healthy Michael Thomas as well I mean back in 2019 Thomas said an NFL record with 149 receptions that still stands he had 1 725 receiving yards that same season which of course led the NFL he was the League's offensive player of the year and then in 2020 Thomas suffered a high ankle sprain and played in just seven games he had ankle surgery it was like long after the season which was extremely questionable but he missed all of 2021 tried to come back in 2022 injured his foot and played only three games which was the year of course the saints went seven and ten under first year coach Dennis Allen last season the pass rushing Trio of Cam Jordan Marcus Davenport and Peyton Turner was very disappointing Davenport signed with the Vikings and of course Turner ended up leaving as well who who is going to be replaced essentially by Isaiah fascu what a season was horrific I mean honestly outside of wanderson Junior you could make the case that he was the most productive Edge rusher in the entire draft he had 12 sacks in 2021 in 2022 and Jordan did get it going late in the season I'm not worried about Kim Jordan I mean it's Kim Jordan he's one of the best players in football like I talked about earlier the Saints should have won 10 games first of all will Lutz missed a 61-yard field goal by inches yes that is a difficult kick to make but if he makes it they win the game you also have the hux game which still gives me nightmares they came back from a 14 point deficit with minutes to play the Panthers hit a game-winning field goal which was in week 18 will Lutz missed another kick this time 55 yards so you're just a couple that plays away from having 10 wins this upcoming season for the Saints will be all about two things first one is Derek Carr getting the ball into his playmaker's hands for example Chris alive last season made a strong case for offense of Rookie of the Year when he had the fifth most yards per route run by a rookie wide receiver over the last 10 years not only is oliva's yards run per Rat Run Elite by rookie standards but it was also one of the best in the league ranking 10th overall the Saints had very high expectations for him after trading up to get him in a 2022 draft and with an upgraded quarterback and Carr in an overall just Improvement in Supporting Cast around the unit things are looking great for the Saints we talked about Michael Thomas in terms of Alvin Kamara of course there is uncertainty surrounding his playing status with a possible suspension looming the same sign Jamal Williams to a three-year deal where 12 million including 8 million guaranteed for that very reason they also drafted a running back but Camara he showed last season that even in an offense that isn't the greatest he's still a top 10 running back in football he ran for 897 yards and two touchdowns which is bad but he did catch two more touchdowns through the air and added 490 yards on 57 catches that is an incredible season for Chimera and we know that he can do much better he has done much better he will do much better so not word in the slightest about him in terms of Juwan Johnson one of the most fun tight ends to watch in the league they resigned him on a two-year deal yeah the Titan the tight end room looks great for the Saints right now and remember of course Johnson originally did convert from a wide receiver a lot of people I don't know if you guys know that I feel like you probably do but that's just an interesting fact and then Kalyn Saunders I mentioned in the beginning of the video it's one of my favorite players in the league I say that because well when I cover the Chiefs but also he's very underrated they got him on a three-year deal he's going to be the biggest body on the defensive line he had three and a half sacks last season for the Chiefs ending was well for a size which is very good for a defensive tackle to have three and a half sacks Lonnie Johnson Jr cornerback the scenes got him in a win your deal Jonathan Abram is coming back I guess well he's not coming back and he's coming to the team when you're dealing of course I played with the Raiders and some other teams so that's pretty cool Brian Edwards you also have yeah Brian brzee out of Clemson of course was a five-star Prospect didn't get injured which hurt his draft stock but for the Saints to get him from the Denver pick which was in the Sean Payton trade it's a huge deal the Saints lost defensive tackles in a free agency so yeah this is definitely a big time move Isaiah fosky he's a fun player he's 6'5 265 incredible athlete very high production in terms of a rusher and 11 sacks in both his Junior and senior Seasons at Notre Dame he did participate in the Senior Bowl and the Saints just had a ton of picks so they were able to pick him up I like it he's a converted Titan I talked earlier about Johnson converting from receiver well yeah foskey actually converted from tight end to defensive end which is awesome Kendra Miller at a TCU running back there's something about these TCU players this draft they just dominated it man there's so many good ones I'm talking first second third fourth rounders they were everywhere they're strapped the last two seasons it just showed the importance for the Saints to have running back depth remember the Saints at one point had a trade for Mark Ingram which was what back in 2021 so yeah Jamal Williams a huge pickup you draft the running back Camara is going to be turning 28 before the season and he's dealing with an off the field issue so to have a couple of bodies behind him is a massive deal fourth round the saints went out there they drafted an offensive lineman and then they got Jake hayner quarterback out of Fresno State we saw on the screen earlier honestly hayner I don't know if he'll ever be a starting quarterback in the league but in terms of a backup it just doesn't get much better than him man he's a very talented player so yeah and he gets to learn behind Derek Carr and Jameis Winston so hayner was this 2023 senior bull MVP by the way so like I said he's talented he definitely has the potential I mean there's no question about it we'll just kind of see how it works out I mean I can't really say that he can or can't be up and it will start her someday time will tell for that for sure but for the Saints I just look at them and it irritates me because I remember I was on Discord like a week or two ago and I said that the Saints would win the NFC South Division and it's a division that was wide open last year it should be wide open this year the Bucks lost Tom Brady the Panthers are starting a rookie quarterback yes it's Bryce young yes he is a former Heisman winner he's a fantastic player but he's still a starting rookie quarterback in the NFL right and he's about five foot ten and a half which is what he measured at the combine so I look at the scenes and I say that they have an incredible defense there's no question that last season it could have been better of course there's always room for improvement but if you look at their depth chart they have Marshawn latinum or if it's an elite level cornerback Tyron Matthew Elite level safety Marcus May who's very underrated of course you've got the Mario Davis drafting a stud and Brian brzee who's a former five-star recruit if I hadn't been for an injury would have been one of the first picks off of the board Isaiah foskey very talented just kind of crazy a story the NFL Caitlin Saunders huge pickup Cam Jordan one of the best players in the league in terms of the the Saints they definitely could use some help at linebacker I mean outside of Davis there really isn't anything that gets me excited let me know if you guys agree with that but overall what will separate the scenes from where they were last season to 100 on the offensive side of the ball last year they just weren't very good now they have a four-time pro bowler they have just year two of their head coach a first being a first year head coach is very difficult go ask Nathaniel hack how that worked out right so for Dennis Allen this Saints team I'm very high in them I want to make a Saints you know so bad man there's just someone telling me because last season I felt the same way about the Eagles and they ended up the point of the Super Bowl I feel the same way about the Saints this team is just way too good to not make a run man but appreciate you guys for the love I'll see you in the next one boys
