and proclaimed himself as the king of Hell or the king of the underworld depending on which manga translation or anime subtitles you saw but the thing is while calling yourself the king of hell as a swordsman definitely makes you sound like one this moniker or this conqueror spirit is hardly anything new when it comes to zoro's character back in East blue I'm talking about back when zoro's character was first introduced Kobe called him a demon in human form from the beginning Zoro has given off the air of a man possessed he uses three swords instead of one or two he starts smiling like the worst villain whenever the battle reaches its Pinnacle and he is the type of person who'd rather die than give an inch no as he himself declared during his battle against Hai back in the East blue Saga there is someone he has got to meet no matter what and until he meets him not even the Grim Reaper can take away his life well I guess the Grim Reaper did show up as we saw in episode 1065 but the Grim Reaper subplot hasn't gone anywhere not in the anime not even in the manga so we're going to leave it at that back to Zoro and demons zoro's strongest attack before his king of Hell three sword style used to be the nine sword style ocera it was the most extreme display of swordsmanship surrounded by a dark raging Aura and fuming with anger Zoro would manifest a solid illusion of the demon god oara he first used it against Kaku in ennie's lobby then against Kuma in Sai archipelago and finally against kaido on the rooftop although we don't know if it has always been the case when Blade also fits well both in terms of the narrative and the Thematic value many of his sword techniques so far have been inspired by Buddhist terminology it was only right that he Acquired and learned how to wield enma as well I guess this is why Zoro was able to unintentionally Inu conqueror hockey and asur when he attacked kaido enma literally sucked the conqueror's hockey out of him while a weak swordsman would be sucked out of his life force if he or she tried to wield a blade like enma it is also a testament to the Blade's quality Zoro is just that guy so he was able to evolve tremendously and truly become a swordsman who can wield a blade like enma and as the wielder of the blade that is named after the king of Hell Zoro became the king of Hell himself the rabbit hole goes even deeper the previous pirate king Goldie Roger also had a right-hand man who is none other than the dark King Silvers rayy the interesting thing here is that even though rayy was technically a subordinate of Manga but Luffy is the man who is going to bring the world of one piece to its Dawn he is like the son so if Zoro is to contrast Luffy just like Ry contrasts Roger his moniker as the king of Hell seems perfect Ry was Roger Shadow and Zoro is Luffy Shadow I'm sure manga readers will be able to understand this analogy at a much deeper level the analogies don't stop here though take zoro's opponent in this fight for example we're talking about the king the last lunarian and the right-hand man of kaido the strongest creature in the world there are laring similarities between Zoro and King both were recruited by their captains when they were being held captive both have declare that their Captain will become the king of pirates and both vow to never lose for the sake of their captains if the parallels between Zoro and Ry are real the parallels between Zoro and King go even further Beyond especially in the context of this fight King is from the lunarian race as we all know no the lunarians lived on the top of the red line as Gods during ancient times back when there were no Celestial dragons or the world government so not only is the king basically a god he's also someone who lived on top of the world contrast that with Zoro a demon and someone who dwells in Hell the underworld it's almost poetic when you start taking a closer look at the narrative and we haven't even talked about the whole idea that the Declan is the enemy of the Gods and although only Luffy is from the Declan in the straw hand Pirates the theme of them being the enemies of the Gods remains imminent throughout the story Sanji is an evil Prince whose techniques are inspired from hell Robin is a devil child Brooke can summon ice from hell and of course Zoro is the king of Hell still there is also the theme of the sun like how Luffy is the Sun and jimbe was the former captain of the sun Pirates guess the straw hats embody both the God and the devil themes or maybe we don't have to look that deep after all Zoro proclaiming to be the king of Hell sounds cool and it also establishes the fact that he can now use conqueror hockey too a bit more about his king of health resort style Zoro uses it during the climax of his battle against the king he has revealed how to pump enma and he also knows how to cut his opponent he gives enma everything without a regard for his life and in return andma lends him the full Crux of its strength so there you have it guys this was a comprehensive analysis of zoro's demonic Persona as well as his growth so far in the series next
