Why is this my absolute favourite weapon in Terraria?

with over 500 weapons in terraria it's no surprise that we get so much variation in terms of weapon functionality ranging from projectile firing swords magical instruments and even a gun that fires piranhas in all of this regardless of if it's best in class we all have our favorites today we're gonna be looking at just that my favorite weapon in terraria the flareon now i know what you're thinking there's about a dozen better melee options at this stage of the game and yes that's correct but it's nothing i find quite as satisfying as using this weapon and actually believe it can make fights incredibly easy plus it can be obtained pre-mech and make early hard mode hilariously easy for the melee class before we look into all of this let's see how you can obtain it regardless of if you decided to beat fishron early or not the process for obtaining a summon item is the same we need to get our hands on a truffle one truffle worms are a rare critter which spawn in the underground glowing mushroom vine as i've always fought there although these are supposed to be rare i've never had any trouble finding a bunch of them in only a few minutes however if you are finding them difficult to find you can always boost your chances by using water candles and battle versions while you're down there now if you see one spawn this part can be tricky with a regular bug net as if you get too close the worm will borrow itself on the ground never to be seen again so you have to be pretty quick on a draw now that you've got your hands on a truffle worm you need to head to the ocean biome where you'll summon him i would make a large platform to help with mobility and when you're ready chuck in your rod and wait for duke to bite for this fight i'm using gear you'd typically have around pre-golem as this is the recommended time in progression to fight him i'd highly recommend using the scourge of the corrupter if you're playing melee as it deals high damage and homes as long as you keep moving the fight should be pretty easy and the overweight quickly now the flareon has a 1 in 5 chance of dropping from the treasure bag but don't be upset if you don't get it first time as all of duke's drops are incredibly solid now for those who are feeling extra daring there's nothing stopping you from taking out duke early and completely breaking hardmod progression this is extremely challenging though and even with the best pre-mech setup it'll still require elite levels of focus and muscle memory for your best chances i'd highly recommend using this spirit flame as for me this allows you to only focus on dodging for the duration of the fight if you want to stay strictly melee i'd use the shadow flame knife and for you rangers i'd use the uzi whatever you use though beating duke early is far from impossible and can be extremely rewarding so then let me show you why i love the flareon so much the flareon repeatedly fires a ball and chain up to 25 from the player while releasing humming bubble projectiles that damage enemies it also makes this awesome sound effect that kind of sounds like a geiger counter unfortunately the bubbles don't harm to target dummies so to get a better idea of its performance hear what it's like against some biomimics as you can see its deepest is kind of insane as the bubbles can linger and then strike a target all at once and don't forget that the flail itself also deals contact damage giving you a bit more control on what you hear what i also love about the flareon is how versatile it is not only is it great on single targets but it's fantastic on large groups turning these mummies into a pile of dust now speaking of single targets i think it's about time we checked out some bosses if you've obtained the flair on pre-mech it's my personal favorite mellow weapon to use against plantera it absolutely melts its health and gives you more than enough space to keep clear of ponterra's body the flareon even holds its own post golem and can be a solid mellow weapon to use against the cultist the homing means that most of the time you don't really have to pay attention to where you're aiming however there is one massive drawback that makes this weapon suffer during this fight it doesn't seem that the bubbles lock on at all to the cultists during the illusion attack luckily it's no biggie if you hit the wrong one as the damage is high enough anywhere to have to fight over and done with quickly so as you can tell i might be a little in love with this weapon it's a blast to use and there's nothing really quite like it this alone makes me look forward to taking out fish run as early as possible what do you think do you love the flareon as much as i do let me know down below thanks for watching for more terraria content like this drop a like and subscribe and i'll see you in the next one
