Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I was surprised when Zen came out and the overwhelming reception it got.
Before then AMD was a meme "Hot and slow" and even when it had something decent it got hammered.
Anything AMD was something reviewer loved to hate... at disproportionate levels.
But Intel really took the review world for granted, as in, it didn't nurture its dominance.
So when the underdog showed any sign of a fight, boom, you have die hard advocates everywhere.
And AMD is still in that stage... The come back kid. AMD also seem to have found a champion in Lisa.
She is becoming the face of AMD, while Intel is without a soul.
So Intel was becoming the corporate core V1, V2, V3, V4... 14nm, 14nm+, 14nm++... company.
While AMD was "Check this out", "50% IPC gain ? WHAM! chiplets on 7nm? KABOOM!"
Also Intel try to please motherboard makers to much with a frustrating socket scheme.
AMD got the right idea. "Want to kill backward comparability? your choice. But dont blame it on us"
Ranting here, but AMD is doing exciting design, moving the industry forward, and after so many years people realize that competition matters. AMD is getting loved again :) Because a PC world with only Intel and nvidia SUCKS!
Linus should release his own semi-custom GPU ;p
Only now he found out about the chiplet design?
I thought he was in the pc hardware news business? am i wrong?
So intel now is being the underdog? HMM
