Why I Chose To Leave The Potter's House Church | Part 1

hey everybody this is case your Ellen welcome to my channel my view my opinion I give social commentary here on a variety of topics and I also have a special show on my channel called my v on the view because all I talk about is ABCs the food so welcome to the broadcast let's get started well hey everybody thanks so much for tuning in I wanted to make a separate broadcast because later tonight once I'm done with my editing I will be uploading the broadcast part two regarding one Nita Bynum if you missed part one you can check it out here or you can just find the link in the description box you heard me mention those of you who have been with me on part one about wanting a Bynum you heard me mention that I was a member of the Potter's House when she did the infamous no more sheets right and Ann wrote her book no more sheets and I shared with you guys that you know I had been a member of the potter's house at that time since he came to Dallas 1996 and then I said I left in the 2000s because of something I directly heard him say well I told you on part one that I would go into more detail but I didn't want to spend time on that on part two because part two is about wanting to buy them and us discussing that in the most healthy way that we can but someone sent me a message because you know they're like well I want to know about it and tell me this and I thought you know what let me go ahead and do that because I did mention it so but now I want to just give a disclaimer if you're coming to this broadcast looking for dirt on TD jakes or the potter's house sweetheart or sir you might as well go ahead and click off now and you can give it a thumbs down you can't see it but I'll be able to see the thumbs up or thumbs down okay that's not what this broadcast is about I will go ahead and tell you right off the top I personally and I was there for many years and I was very involved in the ministry I never had a bad experience at the potter's house so you may be asking well then why did you leave what was it that you heard him say so let me share the story with you okay now I don't have any notes in front of me I'm is going to share some things I'm going to leave out certain names but if names I know you know I will mention those and I won't be giving specific dates and things like that or telling you about specific ministries because again this is not intended at least from my view to be negative I just want to share so TD jakes and his family and several of his ministerial staff the guy who wrote Sunday morning stick-up David David Lee was a member of the staff many of them came they left West Virginia and they came to Dallas Texas according to TD jakes because God told them to in 1996 okay I was a member of another Church in that time but and I never knew about TD jakes but a friend of mine was saying you know listen I've joined this church and I tell you the teaching is just awesome and she and I and several of our friends we were a big about teaching okay I love preaching but I tell you I can listen to someone teach about the word all day versus preaching I may not be able to listen all day I personally don't like all the hollering and screaming and yelling listen you don't have to do that just tell me what you got to say and go somewhere and sit down so I am bigger on teaching okay so anyway so I started visiting with her and her husband going to the Bible study and I tell you guys I had learned so much in so small of a time I had never heard the Bible taught like this now I want to say that the potter's house that you know of today is not the potter's house I was a part of the TD jakes that you see on television and the messages that you've heard is not the TD jakes who was my pastor at that time so this was a different time period he was not as well-known as he is now this was completely different a lot of the ministers that blew up under him like Chris Hill I'm gonna talk about Chris Hill here I'm gonna mention Chris Hill oh I gotta watch my words because some people here talk about and they associate that with talking about somebody so but anyway so a lot of these people were not known okay but because they were a part of his ministry they became well known also at this time the potter's house is again not like what you know now there were not multiple churches around the world as they are now torie Roberts Church which used to be one church la it's now under the potter's house after he married TD jakes daughter Sara from Jake's okay so again this was a different time a different man Serita Jake's was a different woman their two sons at that time Dexter I was was very young she had just had Dexter not too long after they moved to the potter's house excuse me before they moved to the potter's house in Dallas so this again different times I want y'all to keep that in mind all of you who know what it is today so I decided to start going to those Bible studies with her and her husband and again TD jakes this was before the fame really and the money so he was he was very different his teaching style was different he was very direct and he was line upon line precept upon precept and he used to have whiteboards listened for Bible study there would be thousands of people I still remember cuz we were in the old building see there wasn't the building that you guys know up today we all our money pay for that Realty okay so in the parking lot and the walk over the the sky scraper past whatever you call those things when you walk over you know the thing in the sky or whatever to get to the side of the road none of that stuff was there okay the housing that they had none of that stuff was there this was all you know we were a lot of us were there on the ground floor of that stuff so anyway so after going a few times I decided oh my god I've learned so much I've grown so much I know things now about the Bible that I never knew I'm gonna go ahead and join that was very hard for me because I had only been a part of churches and only like two at that time that where I knew the pastor in the pastor knew me so I it was very hard for me to make a decision now I was in my 20s at that time so to make a decision to go to a church where I knew the pastor will never know me and he will never know my name that I had never heard of that nor had I experienced that but I was willing to sacrifice that because I was grown well when I joined in 1996 I became very involved behind the scenes very involved behind the scenes people who weren't famous who later became famous I got to know them because I was very involved behind the scenes so and let me just give you an example of what I'm talking about when one and are loose a lot of you guys remember because this was some years ago when woman Thou Art Loosed was a play but they had a traveling play I don't again I don't know what's going on with that church or ministry or teachings now because I haven't been a part of that nor watched him on television none of that since that time but anyway the dancers I babysat their kids okay but when they came into Dallas to do the part that play I babysat their kids so when I tell you I was involved in this thing's now I want to make it clear I did not know Serita Jake's or teenie Jake's personally I never went out to lunch with them they never came to my house I never went to their house one of my friends because they heard her daughter and was friends with their daughters you know she did she and Sarita became friends but I never knew them personally so I want to make that clear up front but I never had any negative experiences even though I got to meet them multiple times behind the scenes I never had any negative experiences you know and just because you meet somebody I mean when you have a pastor who he has thousands of members he doesn't know you he doesn't remember you so anyway things were going along fine you know now just because I didn't have any negative experiences doesn't mean I didn't hear things or see things oh I heard all the rumors you know that were out there but they didn't bother me you know and of course being behind the scenes I saw things but those things in bother me either I also during that time I was a volunteer for the Irving Texas the TBN Studios that were in that was in Irving again I haven't been involved with TV in since then either so I don't know what's going on with TV aunt Jan and Paul Crouch were still alive they have a ranch in Irving Texas where they would come from spit and a part of that property is the Irving Texas studio so I was one of the prayer partners so the people when they would put the number up on the screen that you would call I was one of the people that would answer the phone also our church filmed a lot at that studio so I was involved in the background of that now eventually TBN decided to transfer all their prayer lines to their California studios and so of course I no longer was a volunteer myself and there was just just me and one other guy that were there so anyway shot to Vernon and so it was just me and Vernon there and burn and I became very close friends and we used to hang out a lot even though we were a different ethnicity we just became friends as we worked in there together so anyway so when the money started coming when he began to become very famous very well-known at one time he in 2001 Time magazine did a cover story on him and it was called is this the next Billy Graham well that was overshadow because 9/11 happened you know September 11th and so but then the money we can't again to come he got a lot of book deals and then the ministry took a shift it became all about money creflo dollar came through a lot of the quote money preachers what's his name Leroy Thompson Kenneth Copeland came one night when I tell you any minister that you could probably name that's quote famous or quote a celebrity today they all came through the potter's house because when teenage eggs began to blow up publicly anybody who wanted to be on television and ministry came to our church to preach because at that time we used to have one Sunday night service a month and that's normally when guests would come so I thank God I was exposed to a lot of different ministries and I did see a lot you know so and I learned a lot and I learned a lot about people and I learned about some of the the underhanded things that go on in ministry but it never bothered me so things began to change and I'll never forget this one Sunday we it got so the church got so big at one point we had to go to three services see when I'm - when I was there y'all it was just one service again I know unless you were there and you know it's hard to imagine that church from the starting from the ground up because it wasn't all that it is now okay so anyway one Sunday we it was so good so we had I remember when he announced us he was going to be and we're gonna have to go to three services and we're gonna have to build another building because at that point the church had reached 30,000 members okay so one Sunday a man stood up and I'll never forget this because I never seen this before and he had been a member there from the beginning and he yelled out and he said this church has become too commercial and before he could finish it security and drug him out see we we never had security in the beginning of the church we didn't have cameras they hurt filming the services I still remember when they announced okay we're going to have cameras I mean that was new for me too I was like they were almost in the back it was just it was just it was a growing time for the ministry it was a growing time for those of us who were on the who were members of the church as well I also remember this you know Chris Hill has touted himself for I don't know how long as a prophet I personally okay have never thought Chris Hill was a prophet and I can tell you I was close at one time to someone who was very close to him that person is actually now in jail okay but at any rate and him cheating on joy I listen guys I had to tell you that was nothing new when he went to Denver and she listened Chris Hill you know Hofstra always struggle with that from what from what we knew because a lot of us knew he was cheating on joy thank God she finally got the courage to divorce him you know and unfortunately had to go down the way that I did but anyway but one night Bishop was out of town and Chris Hill was running the service this was a Sunday night service the new building the parking lot the overhead thing it was all going to be like twenty two million dollars and so we were in the midst of raising money for that okay well under this certain mind you this is supposed to be the profit running the service what that Sunday night this guy who he was an Arabian Prince or an Iranian Prince he walked down and he was cut had his face covered he was all draped in white with what looked like a gold belt he had an entourage he came down and we saw Chris Hill and some of the ministers go down to see what he wanted we did not hear this over the mic all of a sudden Chris Hill gets on the mic and he says this Arabian Prince whatever he has said he's going to gift our church 22 million dollars you can imagine we all went crazy I don't even know if anybody's ever told this publicly maybe Bishop Jake's has told it and so we all went crazy that went all around Dallas we'll come to find out now mind you that was quote the Prophet running the service come to find out that man was a liar and he was a fake and he was pretending he actually came into town ran up money on the church's bill so that was all a fake well when Bishop got back into town he actually I still remember when he announced to us that he was a fake we were heartbroken and and he was heartbroken for us because he told us I watched the footage and I saw how happy you guys were but you know that wasn't real now mind you so I knew then I was always right about Chris Healy I mean how are you a prophet but you didn't know this guy was a fake and a phony so anyway so now let me tell you what he said so as the church began to grow as the money began to come it began to change again more and more about money it became so commercial it was almost unbearable every service was about money every announcement was about money then one Sunday he said this
