hey guys jeff from homerenovation here listen i uh we're just going to talk about this real quick i did a video a while back during a live show and i sound the alarm you know the supply chain is broken we expected 2021 to be a pretty brutal year with supply chain but i had no idea it was going to get as bad as it is um the project i'm working on here in my bedroom it's almost complete we're in drywall now so it's sand prime trim but i got my materials here like i organized i got it all in events i went to the store the other day to pick up materials i did a little mock-up here okay just so you know we're doing some videos how to fix floor squeaks how to fix old dimensional lumber trusses and i'm sorry floor joists how do i cut the subfloor how do i repair it how do i drill holes how do i all these basic construction videos that we haven't done yet so i'm like i'm not going to do any more major interior work for over a year because of covet and the supply chain so i say no i'm just gonna go to the store i'm gonna get some of the the the lumber that's there and i'll just get a few materials i was shocked by what i saw okay and so right away before we go any further i want everybody to hit the thumbs up button like this video okay we need to get this message out to homeowners who are planning or not planning enough this year to save them a ton of money i'm already seeing comments about people who are changing their construction techniques and styles going to steel stud going from instead of the traditional subfloor system they're using a new underlayment and not having a sub floor at all using kerdi-board in the bathroom is now cheaper than then and more accessible than drywall and two by fours and plywood like it's blowing my mind but the truth is if it's made from an oil-based product it is of still available but if it's made from wood we're having a real issue so let's just go through this showed up at home depot the only drywall they had left was three pieces of 12-foot drywall with broken corners and a half a stack and i'm talking about 12 sheets of the green board the drywall for bathrooms nothing else i was on a monday morning the guy at the counter said they put in an order but they're not getting any more until friday we're talking about a store that used to have a sign above the drywall guaranteed a thousand sheets in stock all the time they've got nothing if home depot can't keep drywall in stock we're in for one hell of a year i'm telling you right now now it's bad enough that each of the two by tens that are eight feet long here were twenty four dollars but the osb what i like to call the leftover wood it's just the chips right osb i used to make subfloor for basements out of this stuff on a dimpled membrane and it was nine or ten dollars a sheet i paid 54 dollars for one sheet of leftover wood plywood my mind was blown i can't believe the cost of materials it's because they're just not available you guys are busy trying to renovate your houses but this stuff's just not available so important to the warning let's just do everybody a favor in the community okay if you go to the store and you're shopping for something and you find that it's not available i want you to go back to this video all right star it mark it save it whatever you got to do right and put the information in the comment section let everybody know hey we're running out of this what state or province you're in because it's going to be different no matter where you go but let's let's let's help each other out stay informed okay we'll make this like a like a video where people can go to as a resource if you can't find doors if you can't get windows if you can't get siding if you can't get plywood if you can't get drywall or decking materials or the spindles for the deck that happened last year or if fasteners all of a sudden start disappearing you can't get nails and screws i mean let's just stay informed and in those comments sections i'll do my best to stay in there as well and present options and we can do videos about different material options to solve major problems so you can keep your projects moving forward remember there's more than one way to do anything and there's more than one material solution for everything as well so i'm gonna do my best to help you keep your projects moving forward because with the housing market going the way it's going and the lack of construction and the increase in immigration in north america prices are going through the roof it's a great time to dress up your house and make it sexy we're going to try to stay on task and do videos that'll help you get more value in your home and get ready for resale but let's just keep this video nice and tight stuff is getting way too expensive that doesn't mean you've got to stop renovating your house but you do need to be smart about your selections and the choices you make and maybe putting off different projects till a different time so once again comment in the section give it a thumbs up let's help everybody out by making sure youtube gets all those signals so they promote this video and so we can get the word out to our community and they can have a resource and we can help each other get through this all right we're gonna be okay it's gonna be interesting but i got more than one trick up each sleeve so i'm sure we can get through this together and if you want to hear the best projects for the pandemic of 2021 i did a live video i think you need to watch this especially after that shopping trip put the link up here and in the video description we'll see you again soon cheers
