as an author lives up here on the west side of Manhattan and has published about 80 books over that's a career I thought maybe you your wife might join you tonight so we could all take a look at the woman behind the man she wanted to do everything just the same because you know as a superstition or something behind that she has the same people in the living room now even though I can't call her she's there with them and they're waiting to hear what's going to happen and so your daughter Ellen has returned nice to see you again Ellen glad to have you here so where are things are the same I like oh that'll be terrific I know well she would know what it was and um you're very good with language linear be don't think it's lap doubtful that it's Arabic you know I think this has to do with [Applause] New York City was one 1/2 million dollars and going for the million so we have a million dollars here in the balance so what we do what do you do with all this money talk well my wife and I always like to write about history in different places and so forth and we didn't get to go to as many of them as we want to do we didn't research and so forth we've been some places but man no and gonna never read well you just won [Applause] [Music] she's up to 16,000 what is the chemical name for rust sulphur trioxide chromium nitride ferric oxide d hydrogen sulfate I have no idea so I definitely want to use a lifeline [Music] I don't know which one I want to use I think I will do rust I think I'll take a fifty-fifty really yeah okay sure yeah I'm gonna narrow it that way what are we doing computer take away two of those wrong answers please chromium nitride ferric oxide okay I think I'd like to phone my dad Oh followed your phone while my father Lou what's his thing Lou Proctor what is Luton he's retired GM worker let's get him on the line okay they do you take we need Lou Proctor [Music] hello hello Lou yes regis philbin calling from a wants to be a millionaire hi region how you doing great enjoy every day thank you very much we've got a me in the hot seat here she needs your help so she's gonna give you a question with two possible answers we narrowed it down by two okay okay all right fine maybe you told us 30 seconds writing that what is the chemical name for rust chromium nitrate or ferric oxide the chromate did the name for rust I'm pretty sure they're fair sexy but I'm not sure enough to tell you what what's your guess meet choices again ferric oxide or chromium nitrate ferrous oxide okay thank you I guess that was your mother she called for $16,000 mom so he finally settled on ferric oxide okay well I'm gonna use the audience I'm gonna use it all up really yep I'm gonna ask the audience all right okay baby needs your help audience here we go if you're ready on your keypads using B or C vote now well they seem to agree with your father now we're at a lifeline right now you could go on forever out of this question but there it is 87% I'm not a gambling person by nature and I do suffer percentage but maybe my dance we don't and I have 8,000 so what does that mean I could walk with eight you could walk with 15 or get it wrong and go with a thousand yes all goal with the audience and you're dead and possibly wins 16,000 I guess I guess I'll go 4c final answer and you're absolutely right [Applause] [Music] [Applause] high school guidance counselor Farmington Michigan the one of the more cautious and conservative contestants we've ever had don't trust anybody and yet you married this guy with a little letter that he wrote into the newspaper no one for a couple of weeks let's get married sure why not come on most rebellious thing I've ever done yes indeed well so we blew three lifelines but we're still in the game and now we're gonna go for 32,000 this money obviously is important to you what would you do with it well we never took a honeymoon so we've been married for years I'd like to go somewhere warm maybe Hawaii for a couple weeks ten days and then the rest is this is just a lot of money to someone like me who works in a school we don't go into teaching to make money and so this is a lot of money that's why I'm very calm I don't blame you one bit no it is a lot of money and I I can't fault you for that but I just wish you had some help now as you get into the the bigger bucks but after all you are an all-american former high school swimming champ so you can have a good all right we're gonna look for it now but $32,000 let's play with Amy now think about this Amy from which of the following US cities can you travel due south to Canada Detroit Michigan Seattle Washington Chicago Illinois Augusta Maine well I wish I had a lifeline left too but I have a feeling on this I can eliminate in my head a couple of them and coming from the Detroit area let's just talk about it that what would you eliminate I would eliminate Chicago and Washington and I would leave me in Michigan now I do know with Detroit I've been through to Windsor through the tunnel or over the bridge and you do head south so my gut instinct is a Detroit but then there's this thought of losing office but you live in Detroit I know happy whether gone to Canada for Detroit yeah and what direction you get so involved in this but I know I say nothing I know nothing so I leave it up to you Amy Proctor man Tina name what do you think this is a lot of money but I'm gonna say a final answer yes [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you know this is a prime example of what happens to people in the hot seat I mean it just clouds your mind right you're afraid to take that chance to wind up with a with a with a thousand dollars but look now you can't go home with less than 32,000 and that's a great feeling so this question is really my guess and I'll guess still leave with 32,000 and she's five away from a million AV here it is for 64,000 which former cast member of General Hospital had a 1985 hit single with the song all I need Richard Dean Anderson John Stamos Rick Springfield Jack Wagner well I know this and you're actually gonna tell me what it is yeah Jack Wagner 5d final answer got it for 60 who's been in this group have a chance and take the money okay thank you I'm going to I let's see you got a walk let's see if you remember it correctly what would it a bit that what was the first get their confidence in their respect well I think that's one of the good things when you're young is they they kind of trust you a little bit and they're willing to confide in you a little bit more so it's a great job and it's really rewarding work - how many kids do you work with and the course of the year will see over 110 students that I get to know an intimate basis and stay in contact with the correct and hopefully changed their lives well hopefully well they change their lives we just getting the opportunity themself you've done this all what else have you done well I've had a lot of reason a lot of union activity etat type of activity that that would breed solidarity I'd imagine I'm gonna go with it a textile factory final answer no I'm sorry [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
