hey everyone it's Mark and I'm back today with a buying guide for all of pmtg's 737 series I'm going to give you some tips on how to decide which one is the best for you there are four models that are available on PC and they will all eventually be available on Xbox 2 but the siding between them isn't easy so I collected all of the pros and cons for you so that you can make an informed decision in the coming weeks I'm also going to be publishing a beginner series on learning the 737 with very short flights that can get you up and flowing without being bogged down into too many details right off the bat but before we can do any of that we need to decide which one we're going to buy and do a little bit of setup as well so let's start looking at all that now each version of the 737 is completely independent of the other so you don't have to bind a smaller one to get the bigger one but on the other hand you also won't get a discount for buying a second one after you've purchased your first one if you're on a budget or you're not sure if flying airliners or 737s is going to be your thing the best option is to go with the 600 which comes in at only 34 USD the 600 is by far the least popular in the real world because it's the smallest which means it carries less people for a similar operating cost at a bigger 700. that makes the plane much lighter though and that translates into being able to get it into and out of runways that are about 300 feet shorter than the 700 or the 800 series so if you're planning on sticking to Shorter original routes that fly into much smaller runways this is going to be the perfect choice one downside is if you're looking to realistically replicate real world flights with the 600 you're gonna have a tough time because there aren't many operators left around the world with it and even at its peak it was never very popular you can still fly most 737 rounds with the 600 it's just that in the real world they would be done with either a 700 or 800 series so this might not be a really big factor if you're not too worried about being completely accurate to the real world the only other real downside to the 600 is that you only get one variant to pick from but that's what makes it available at such a lower price point the 700 hits the middle ground of all the models that are available and it's an all-around pretty good performer but because it's a bit bigger it won't get into the tight spaces that you can with the 600. there are also enough operators like Southwest that you can use to replicate real world Ops easily if that's what you're into the 700 also comes with two other variants the BBJ and the bdsf the BBJ is a Business Jet version of the 737 which has a much larger range than the other 700 variants so if you want to do longer cross-continent flights it could be a pretty good choice it also comes with the bdsf model which is a cargo version of the airplane and it gives you the option to fly cargo routes which can be a nice change of pace from Passenger flights in terms of cost the 700 is almost double the price of the 600 and pretty much the same price as the 800 series so I don't really recommend the 700 series at all if you're willing to splurge for something bigger than the 600 you should probably be getting the 800 instead the 800 is the most popular next-gen 737 in the real world and it's the one that most people have been waiting for because of that reason on top of that pmdg have done a really nice job of modeling all the little handling differences between the 800 and the smaller versions of the 737 based on what I've read and scene takeoff and Landing feel pretty different and the 800 definitely takes up a lot more space on the runway to get to speed and to slow down the 800 series comes with four models you've got your passenger model you've got two different cargo versions of it and you also get the Business Jet version which similar to the 700 series is gonna be able to fly longer distances because it has those bigger fuel tanks the 800 comes in at a hefty 75 USD but it seems to go on sale fairly frequently so I'd say keep an eye on it for a little bit if it's not on sale before pulling the trigger especially if you're watching this around any type of holiday the latest model to become available is the 900 series and this one's available for 50 USD and the difference in price again is due to the number of variants that you get with it you get the normal passenger version with this one and on top of that you also get the 900 ER passenger model which stands for extended range and that's going to be ideal for your long-haul flights the 900 is the most challenging to fly because of its bigger size and it's going to be a lot more sluggish because of all that extra weight overall I think the 800 is the best way to go even though it's the most expensive model the 600 is a great choice if you're on a budget and if you want something a bit bigger but you don't want to spend all the extra dough for the 800 the 900 is a pretty good choice too on the off chance that you're thinking of picking up two models I'd probably go with the 600 and the 900 since combined I'll only be just a little bit more expensive than the 800 and it's going to give you the most options for flight types because with the 600 you'll be able to do those short hops into those very short runways and with the 900 you'll be able to do a lot longer flights as well because you get the extended range version for these videos I'm going to be using the 800 there are some slight changes between all of the different variants but to be honest it should be close enough that you'll be able to replicate it with any model that you decide to use we're gonna get back to the video in just a second but I do want to remind you if you get some value to please make sure to hit the like button and consider subscribing as well I publish a new video every two weeks with tips tricks and tutorials for Microsoft flight simulator and your likes and subscribers are what keep the Channel Growing if you're on PC you can buy the 737 on pmdg's website directly and although they're all eventually going to be available on the marketplace you're really better to buy it directly from them so that you get their updater tool and delivery manager and like that you won't be tied down to the marketplace if you're looking to buy on Xbox as the different models become available you're gonna have no choice but to go through the marketplace but hopefully with some of the changes that are being done there you'll be able to get updates a lot quicker moving forward once you've purchased and installed the plane that you want the easiest way to find them in the Sim is to go into the airplane selection screen type 737 into the search box and all of the variants for the series that you bought are going to appear for you by default you only get the pmvg house Livery but you can get more with their updater tool on PC and even though all deliveries are also going to be available in the marketplace at some point in one way or another they're really going to be there mostly for Xbox users because you'll be able to get everything all ready for free with the updater tool one thing to be aware of the first time you load up the airplane and every single time that you update the airplane as well it's going to take a lot longer to load into the cockpit and that's because in the background it's actually compiling all of the source code for your airplane once it does load in the first thing that I actually like to do with every airplane before I start learning it is to set up my cameras properly especially for airliners is really important because the cockpit's so much bigger and there are buttons and knobs and switches all over the place that you need to be able to reach very quickly so setting up your cameras in a way that's going to enable that is going to go a long way to make you more productive and enjoy the airplane a lot more you can save up to 10 custom cameras in Flight Sim but by default they're hard to reach because of the control key plus a number button at the top of your keyboard so what I actually like to do is to remap all of those keys that are assigned to them in the control bindings to use the numpad keys from zero to nine instead like that all of the camera views that I might need when I'm flying the airplane are always just going to be a single button press away on top of that what you can do is remap the save custom camera buttons to be shift plus a numpad key for that same camera view and like that it will just have a really convenient way to move your camera around however you want it wherever you want it save the custom View and then come back to it very quickly whenever you need it for the 737 and pretty much any airliner I'll have one key to display the FMS which is just to the bottom right another one to go to the overhead and to access everything there one more a little bit more towards the center of the center panel just so that you can access all of the controls across the front of the airplane and lastly I like to have one to be able to access the pedestal so that I can get to the radios the flaps and the throttles and the trim if I need to as well as at the time I'm recording this there is no efb with the 737 but if there were one I'd probably have a custom camera view to go directly to it as well I always try and keep a couple of custom cameras open for the wing views as well and this is really easy to set up in the pmeg I really like what they did here all you've got to do is use the different keyboard keys to move yourself into the cabin and from there you just Place yourself wherever you want your wing view from save your custom camera view and then once you're in the cockpit you can easily get back to that custom camera view by just pressing your button that covers it for cameras and the only other topic that I really want to touch on is setting up your controller and specifically the reverse throttles of this airplane because it's a little bit touchy to get them working every controller is different but the good news is there are already a bunch of tutorials on how to set up a bunch of them on YouTube and what I'll do is include a link in the description below to all of them for you I'll have a couple of links for the TCA throttle quadrant the honeycomb Bravo as well as the Boeing controls if that's what you're using and that's going to wrap it up for our intro to the 737 today please make sure to hit the like button on your way out if you learned something useful and make sure to choose subscribe so that you don't miss the next episode in this series
