When a falling light almost hit the Clintons

sixty minutes overtime when Hillary Clinton first appeared on 60 minutes she was a 44 year old governor's wife going on TV to help her husband with a problem his problem long-rumored allegations of marital infidelity finally surfaced in a supermarket tabloid Jennifer flowers a former TV reporter says she had an affair with Bill Clinton threatening his run for president it was just at the beginning of the campaign and very few people really knew who bill was and nobody knew who Hillary was so you were really introducing her to the American public that's correct okay as I mentioned it was a very big interview for steve Kroft and a young producer named Frank Devine it was interesting to be in the room it was was clear that there was some kind of serious relationship between the two of them the despite what had gone on that they were a team Don Hewitt the creator of 60 minutes was there to he'd convinced CBS to give him 10 minutes of prime air time for the interview after the Super Bowl I think because did you know how if you know what I think or say on this subject go get it tape and run it again people are sitting out there voters and they're saying look it's really pretty simple if he has never had an extramarital affair why doesn't it just say so that may be what they're saying you know what I think they're saying I think they're saying here's a guy who's leveling with us it made for riveting televisions and 34 million people were watching there isn't a person watching this who would feel comfortable sitting on this couch detailing everything that ever went on in their life or their marriage 40 minutes into the interview the lights were hot the lights were heavy and the whole light bar came crashing down with all the lights on it on the back of the couch Mary and Joseph well at the time I thought there's a woman that doesn't swear because of a foul language was gonna come out of her mouth that would have come out of her mouth right then I got over there pretty fast make sure they were okay it was a scary it was very scary all right in some ways after the light fell everybody loosened up
