Yamaha has been making quality audio gear for over 50 years and unlike their competitors they still make two channel receivers I'm going to break down the key points of the four brand new Yamaha RN models helping you understand their designs and their functions plus I'll suggest some speakers and accessories that'll pair well with each and show you a few options from other brands in the same price range to consider do you have an opinion on Yamaha whether you've been using your gear for years or just getting started your input can help others so let me know below sound quality durability or any other feedback you have about the brand it can help us all last year I showed you yamaha's top tier RN 200a with a $4,000 price tag it was a bit pricey for some especially if you're just diving into high quality audio with Yamaha heard us and they've now launched three new models the RN 1000a at $1,800 the RN 8800a at $1,200 and the RN 600a at $900 these options are perfect for everyone from the Hardcore Audio fan to someone on on a budget now the Yamaha 1000 and 800 have a lot in common with the 2000 they have Origins with the as line with the Yamaha as 3200 integrated amplifier being the flagship of that line but here's the twist the RN series aren't just amplifiers they're Network receivers besides FM radio they have built in digital audio broadcast stations for the best part that's yamaha's integrated music Cast app so you don't need another streamer it's the update that we've wanted in yamaha's lineup for a while yamaha's latest series comes in a sleek black and classic silver and not to Vintage fans out there they've taken cues from yamaha's Iconic 7s look and blended it with today's design Yamaha smartly added the Music cast panel making sure it fits rather than stands out on the front it's especially subtle on the Black Version while the three new models don't have power meters like the RN 2000 does they still look great without them the well-made controls and switches hit that old school Vibe just right but there's more than just looks here inside Yamaha packs these units with their top art component components they are the same quality parts used in their top tier as 3200 integrated app if you were to put all these receivers next to each other especially the RN 2000 you would see yamaha's dedication to top-notch build and with a generous 5year warranty Yamaha clearly stands behind their gear now the RN 600 is a 90 wat revamped iteration of yamaha's 602 a standout model from their earlier lineup Network receivers and actually the selling model from the entire line the left side of the RN 602 is equipped with a power switch a headphone output an AB speaker toggle and a 5V 1 aamp USB type a port for USB stick music playback the central section it showcases an input selector surrounded by vintage inspired tone control knobs a menu navigation tool and a return connect button above these lies the unchanged digital display from the previous model but this will be changed in the 800 and the 1,000 version completing the design the right size houses the volume dial and a pure direct button to basically bypass everything that I just showed you am I looking okay I don't know if I'm supposed to be like I'm a weatherman me make a weather background oh it's going to rain [Applause] savings the R 800 and the RN 1000 boast an Innova design retaining some elements from the 600 model but undergoing a full overhaul on the rest and we're going to show you just one of them cuz they both look exactly the same so on the left side Yamaha has merged the individual speaker buttons into a single control and the USB type A input has been omitted centrally there's a repositioned input selector and tone control switches seamlessly extending towards the right to the pure direct and volume controls however the most striking transformation is at the bottom here Yamaha introduces a mic input to optimize room Acoustics by utilizing the provided microphone the system gauges the distance between the speakers and the listening spot ensuring balanced audio output additionally indicators for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are situated on the right but the showstopper lies in the center yamaha's latest OLED display this vibrant screen provides insights into your sources input stations and a feature I absolutely love the revamp volume indicator the 200a is 90 watts and also has been entirely revamped inspiration from the as1200 and the as 2200 models in yamaha's Elite integrated lineup in this model the tone controls have been reposition to accommodate the eye-catching power meters which are undeniably a highlight for me while they may not match the size of those on the as 3200 they're undeniably impactful Yamaha has thoughtfully incorporated a switch to toggle those meters on and off I don't know why you turn them off but you can additionally the input selector has been enlarged and the power button has been transformed into a more tactile switch the 600 even as an entry level model offers a commendable variety inputs it features a phono input three line ins and two full signal line out but these are not preouts or tape monitors so you're not going to be able to use EQ or run this as a preamp additionally there's an FM antenna and a subwoofer output a noteworthy upgrade in this receiver is the superior speaker binding post departing from the typical lowcost red and black commonly seen on this price range of receivers the 800 model has Superior internal construction when compared to the 600 and this is immediately apparent even from an exterior Viewpoint this can be seen in how the input and output boards are arranged unlike the 600's congested layout the 800 showcases distinct separations this revamp design excludes the previous line outs but introduces that preout instead this allows the 800 to function as a preamp should you later opt for more powerful amplif this is why I frequently recommend these Network receivers as preamps another enhancement is the designated CD input designed to operate seamlessly with the pure direct mode this mode ensures that the music signals follow the briefest circuit path skirting around potential interferences like the buff ramp and various tone controls thus minimizing signal degreg and optimizing sound quality the digital board has also been reposition to the top and there's added convenience of a USB type B input for direct computer connectivity to cap it off the R 800 comes with a detachable power cable allowing for potential upgrades based on your preferences the RN 1000 the RN 800 differ in a few key areas the 1000 drops one of those digital coax inputs but adds an HDMI ARC highlighting its improved connectivity goldplated terminals on the 1000 ensure a better connection minimalizing signal loss additionally it's double bottom chassis and iron dampening plate enhance the units stability and reduce vibrations providing cleaner sound especially in the lower frequencies the RN 2000's price jump might initially raise eyebrows but a closer look at the back of what is undoubtedly one of my all-time favorite receivers clears up any doubts while the inputs and outputs remain consistent with the 1000 the distinctions lie in the meticulous design and construction immediately the separated speaker binding POST stand out this separation is a testament to the perfectly symmetrical folding book construction the post eles are a Marvel crafted of pure brass they're not only heavyduty but also ergonomically Superior due to their premium shaping making them easier to adjust repositioning the inputs and outputs to the center is no mere aesthetic choice this layout ensures that the power amplifier circuitry inclusive of the power supply remains distinct from the ground a designed that effectively removes tiny voltage fluctuations and external ground noise this circuit design is designed symmetrically with poolpool operation in the output stage and it has a remarkable signal to noise ratio aesthetically the 2000 Bast Chrome plated brass feet further contributing to its robust stiffness Beyond mere visual appear these feet bolster the rich foundational low frequency response these are not just feet they initiate the mechanical ground concept this concept incorporates the Feats bolts welded directly to the main chassis extended to the large heat sink power transformer and block capacitors all directly bolted to the chassis this construction prevents unwanted vibration producing a better load frequency response lastly the 2000's weight almost double that of the 1000 this comes from the inclusion of the pidal Transformer paired with 3mm brass Basse between the Transformer and the inner chassis this design suppresses vibrations offering a soundscape that's both expansive and astonishingly lifelike each Yamaha Network receiver is accompanied by a remote while functionalities may vary slightly across models the 20 remote distinctly stands out unlike the plastic construction of the others the 2000's remote boasts metal elements lending not just to its durability but to a premium touch and feel to complement the receiver lineup Yamaha has launched the ns28 floor sanding speakers and the NS 8800a bookshelf speakers these are tailored for yamaha's Network receiver range however given their premium build and price tag i' particularly advocate for them to be paired with the 1,000 and the 2,000 as they mirror their high-end appeal and performance quality if you're leaning towards the 600 or the 800 receivers there are several speaker options to enhance your audio experience for bookshelf speakers the warfel Dentons are great for those of you wanting a vintage look and the K r3s complement the Yamaha sound perfectly if you want something more modern meanwhile for those seeking floor standing Alternatives the khh model 5ivs and the mission 700s are both excellent and complimentary choices for vintage style speakers if you're looking for more modern I'd recommend the warfle evos or the auroras but remember the best speaker receiver pairing also depends on the specific sound you're aiming to achieve and for the best setup for your musical taste and styles I recommend reaching out us we're here to guide you in crafting the perfect Hi-Fi setup now if Yamaha isn't your thing and I don't know why you'd be watching this far into a video if it wasn't but there are some comparable models in the price range of the RN 1000 fake 230 for instance captures attension with its elegant mid-century modern design and its beautiful wood veneer finish another worthy mention is the NAD 3050 a blue sound enable retro amplifier with large color changing meters it's a unit that not only functions impressively but also adds aesthetic charm especially when complemented by the warf Dell lintons this is one of my current personal setups at home as well as far as accessories are concerned with the RN 1000 I would recommend interconnects from audioquest Big Sur series which I may have these are the big sers for those of you pairing them with the rm1000 these are pretty good they're PSC plus and gold play now for those of you who are looking to get RCA for the RN 2000 I'd recommend the Mackenzie line this will give you separate cables for the left and the right which you're going to need for this receiver as the inputs are separated the Mackenzie is solid PSC plus that is submerged in a vat of pure silver as far as speaker wire goes with the 600 and the 800 I'm using my budget go-to the elac sensible speaker wire or the SVS speaker wire for the 1,000 I recommend using audioquest rocket 11 now for the 2,000 I would move up to the rocket at 33s which is a 14 gauge solid PSC and LGC build and you're going to see what that means at the bottom of the screen it's down there I'm working on it now either way I'm upgrading the banana plugs to the 500 series which is so nice and so much easier to use the plugs that come on the audio Quest are those like UK I wish I had it why don't I have it I should just got on the floor and get it maybe I should all right so these are the rocket 11s and how the cables look there so they're the ones that I would upgrade to the 500 the rocket 33s rocket 33 is like a bigger cable and at the end you see it still has those type of banana plugs that I don't really like that much for the UK this is what you're going to have to use but in the US you don't have to so the 500 series which we can now transform back to the studio so I repl place them with the 500 series they're just a better plug it feels better connects better you can like if you could feel this it's just a better build quality so audio Quest does give you a lifetime warranty on all their cables but I still just like this better Yamaha is truly delivered on our leld hopes offering a receiver that masterfully blends luxury with a affordability and Nostalgia with Innovation they've even crafted matching speakers to complete the set the entire line of Yamaha receivers all the accessories I mentioned even the Yamaha alternatives are available here for chops audio.com all right one more thing if you made a high-fi purchase that you regret due to poor advice from other so-called influencers on YouTube or pushy salese at that snobby Hi-Fi store or maybe hey you enjoyed your purchase and now you're looking for an upgrade well I now offer you a way to get 100% tradeing allowance for that when you upgrade and if you want to know the details for that be sure to check the description go to shop just audio or give us a call and talk to real people who like the same thing you do and that is music
