[Music] one of my favorite things about interesting cars and sports cars and supercars is that they depreciate obviously manufacturers continue to make new ones and so at really any price point all the way down the spectrum there are some crazy cars that you can buy so I thought the perfect price point for our video this week of what would you buy at a theoretical budget was $25,000 because it's honestly amazing what awesome cars you can buy at such a budget for me the go-to is always gonna be depreciated AMG cars that's about what I ended up having in my 2007 Mercedes s65 and you could buy a really cool AMG SLE cls-class anything for about that much money at some level of depreciation sure you get a nicer one for 30 a nicer one for 40 and ice Lord for 50 but for 25 grand you can buy a car that was over $200,000 new it's an amazing opportunity but if you want to have a little bit more fun you can buy a manual early Porsche 997 version of the 911 it's gonna be a no five-oh 607 probably gonna have a hundred thousand miles but it'll certainly go another hundred or two hundred thousand they are somewhat expensive to maintain you gotta watch out for IMS bearings and stuff like that but I love them I think you'll be very pleased if you buy either of those there is another car that you can buy for about near as makes no difference $25,000 but I'm not gonna tell you about that because it's on a truck on its way here right now from California and it will be my car for the next car track so you'll have to wait a little while to hear about that but it was also well over $200,000 when new so tremendous amount of depreciation happening there but I was excited to hear what all my friends thought and these were their answers well I'm in my own driveway because I just went through that very question myself I was looking for a cool daily driver to have fun with reliable everything works new or near new we're talking near new depreciation makes this car easily below twenty five thousand even for a very nice one I've always loved the one le Camaros I drove the SS v8 450 horsepower I drove the zl1 one le 650 horsepower I thought or the hospital you know what I came up with yep I found this one on a Camaro forum page six gen Camaro owners four-cylinder turbo camaro 1le 275 horse 295 pound-feet of torque not even tuned and it's a 1 le and it's way light and those hundreds of pounds lighter than every other Camaro they all come off the nose this cars got 50/50 weight distribution I like it so much I even got the t-shirt I would actually go with the 2008 2014 lexus is-f it's one that I actually own drive a lot you can get very clean examples right around 25,000 you can get slightly older higher mileage examples and leave you room for modifications it's a card no one knows about there's just under 12,000 globally under 50 400 or so in the United States it has a 412 horsepower v8 8-speed automatic handles incredibly well big brakes flies under the radar and so much fun to drive that's what I would get at twenty five thousand before BMW followed Mercedes into building overweight numb driving barges they built some of the most nimble and finest sports sedans in the world and before they got beaten to death by the Bengal stick they had clean simple design that was understated and let you get away with murder out on the freeways so my choice for a twenty five thousand dollar car has to be their late 80s masterpiece the e28 m5 was faster than the m6 it was faster than the m3 and faster than anything else on the road and it's appreciating quickly what would we buy for $25,000 well it's definitely not going to be Eleanor here behind me that's a little out of the $25,000 range but if we went back to 2012 my first kind of over six figures exotic luxury car that I would consider I ever bought was my Maserati GranTurismo MC Edition which today would be worth probably around high-mileage twenty five thousand bucks so that would be my choice it was a beautiful white speck with black wheels red leather interior and I drove that car from my very first supercar rally from British Columbia Canada all the way down to California and then out to Monterey for Monterey car week on Italian Stampede for $25,000 there's a lot of great cars that you can get within that price range but instead of choosing American I'm going with German this time just like this a maybe 2 m3 behind me with the 4 liter hi Reverend v8 engine now this one is a DCT but if you can get yourself a manual then even better I want to be chauffeured driven in a twin-turbo v12 drag car and I found the ultimate sleeper a 2006 s 65 that's been gutted and turned into a race car free outside it looks like a regular black s-class until you look on the inside there's too many custom upgrades to list I just can't imagine what this v12 sound like screamin down a track for 25 grand there are lots of fun choices out there if you went German you got first gen Cayman S or even a 996 possibly even a c4s BMW M s M Roadster be 46 m3 e30 9 m5 American you got newer model pony cars with a v8 and even a c6 Vette but for my 25 grand I'll take this so early 1990s Nissan 300zx twin turbo 3 litres 300 horsepower twin turbocharged manual transmission lots of technology including 4-wheel steering and just super cool looking so many great choices in this price range for the car that I would choose is one of that currently oh and love and that's is the e 64 BMW m6 last of the naturally aspirated and a v10 engine from BMW screams to nearly eighty five hundred rpms and it's just a dream to drive that's my choice hey everybody so my favorite car under $25,000 as the exotic car ex guy would have to be an exotic that's right I look for the most value and I think from me one car that does that better than any other in that very small price range is basically the Maserati Quattroporte s you can buy basically a really nice 2011 to 2013 Maserati Quattroporte s in mint condition with low miles for under $25,000 $25,000 this week an easy one for me the 92 bmw m3 the v8 the last great jewel of an engine yes the new cars are amazing and effective and all that but that agent was just incredible of course that v8 being based on the v10 from the e60 m5 so easy pick for me go with the manual skip the DCT boom what's up guys wraps here v $25,000 to find a vehicle that's really unique and rare and cool it's really difficult that's probably the hardest challenge there is but I would pick the autos am a z1 it is very much like a sports car probably very underpowered but whatever it the styling of our Ferrari Lambo Dwarves go up like a Gaul wing hey guys for 25 K I would start searching for a European m3 the version we never got in the u.s. from 1996 it'll be eligible for import very soon it's got a much more powerful engine with 321 horsepower 6-speed manual individual throttle bodies and everything that just makes it that little bit more that we love to drive on the track and on backroads that's my choice if you have $25,000 right now for a sports car what would you buy and why would it be a Corvette I'll tell you the reason why I would buy a Corvette right now I'd buy myself a really nice example of a c5 zo6 FRC they're really fast in a straight line they corner really well they're light they have lots of aftermarket support and you throw a decent set of tires on it and man those things will scoot like crazy my Corvette is best Corvette because I bought it for less than 25 grand for me it would have to be a b7 OD rs4 this literally takes all the boxes it has a revised 4.2 liter v8 makes 420 horsepower and has an 8,000 rpm redline which is Bunker's especially from 2007-2008 so for like the 25 grand 25 grand it's quite a bit of money 25 grand buys you a higher end muscle car this is like a genuine rs3 27 low mileage to owners doesn't look perfect that's a good car and what you can do for that kind of money you could buy one of these [Music] okay guys I got two answers for you one of which is the most American thing you can do and the other is actually about the least American thing you can do but both are great first and foremost no replacement for displacement you're gonna go get an early to mid-1990s Dodge Viper r/t 10 no hardtop no roll-up windows no outer door locks doesn't matter that is an awesome car anybody says that they're hard to drive well they can't drive the other idea of mine is I think it called my buddy Sam Hart in England and have him help me source either or both depending on up the project and Alpine Renault a 3/10 and late 70s or early 80s got a lot of rally in racing history I think they're a super cool underappreciated French car the other one I would get is the Alpine Renault GTA v6 turbo also underappreciated I actually prefer them over a 911 and if I find a nice one over there maybe I got money left over for my wife and I to fly over and get to drive it around the UK I just go out to the dealership and buy a brand new Fiat 124 spider get to drive it get to have fun don't have to worry about maintenance perfect my choice for the twenty five thousand dollar car this week is the 2000 and 2006 bmw m3 with a manual gearbox these cars had a great body style they had a great interior there's a lot of modifications that can be done reasonably to the car and I think it's just a lot of car for the money the Honda s2000 has got to be one of the most fun cars you can get short of supercar territory much less under 25,000 I mean there's a reason these things are still winning time attacks and auto cross championships and such more than a decade later so my pick for best sports car for $25,000 or less I think is gonna be a bit of an unfair one because I am biased I did personally buy this car for myself back in October of last year I've put 10,000 miles on it and about six seven months zero complaints I'm talking about the 2015 Ford Mustang GT now with a five liter v8 this one's got a manual which makes me super happy and a limited slip differential this has been one of the most fun cars I've ever owned and ever driven for 25 grand there is only one answer to this question is an Aston Martin v8 Vantage from 2006 to 2007 you can find these things for around 25 30 grand and with some shrewd negotiation I'm sure you could find one for 25 in fact one went for 23 and change on bring a trailer recently and apart from small styling cues you basically are getting the same car that tovarisch had in the car track series and I actually own one of these cars I had a 2007 was this the same one that Freddie had actually so what would I buy with $25,000 without a doubt it would be a Buick Grand National now these cars were incredible when I was growing up and they have held their value they are still an amazing rear-wheel drive turbocharged v6 General Motors product and without a doubt with $25,000 by myself a Buick Grand National hey what's going on guys Mike for max speed here for $25,000 I'm gonna go ahead and pick this C 6:06 I actually just got done driving one a couple of weeks ago and I've been addicted to the power ever since 505 horsepower 3,100 pounds rear wheel drive 6-speed manual only for $25,000 I highly doubt you will find anything else that's as fun and as fast so $25,000 might not sound like a lot for a car that is sporty and fast and comfortable and cool but this is actually less than $25,000 this is a 1999 Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 it is one of only 287 brought to North America has a v6 twin turbo all-wheel drive all those theory it looks fantastic I think this is one of the best shapes ever made in a Japanese car and it is one of my favorite cars that I own one of the cars that I've been obsessed with ever since I got my driver's license was a late 80s BMW m6 no I'm not typically a Beemer guy but there's just something about a nice well-equipped GT car from Germany with a 5-speed manual that really speaks to me for me 2004 v10 Dodge Viper convertible can't beat it the SRT Viper it's not the most popular of the Viper models but it's exotic punches way outside its weight class that car it's got a v10 engine sounds awesome you throw an exhaust on it and you're the guy in the street with the Viper it is a exotic car it is a sports car it is a fairly reliable car and it's hard to go wrong at 25 grand so 25 grand thousand US dollars we say I'll go for a project itto jag v12 absolute powerhouse loads of stuff you can do to make even more cool than actually is but yeah you can't get much cooler than a historic e type Jaguar you know the biggest mistake you could make for twenty five thousand dollar sports car is to buy some old crapped-out be to death model because of what looks like an attractive price so I'm gonna go instead of a Porsche Cayman I'm gonna go with a one-year-old Mazda Miata 2019 I'm looking at models right now for under $25,000 with two three four thousand miles on them for twenty five thousand dollars the car you get is a 2016 Subaru WRX STI okay elephant in the room the motors been around for a long time and there's a lot of dated parts on that car but there's a lot of positives to Subaru is a great company and stand for a lot of good causes they're pretty reliable as long as you don't modify them too much tons of rally heritage and some Road racing heritage 2 for $25,000 I'd have to go with a second generation Cadillac cts-v 556 horsepower you could get it with a manual it had the magnetic fluid dampeners on it great car not too expensive not too expensive to maintain and a real hoot to drive well think about this what would I be buying for $25,000 late-model 98 202 ws6 trans and I might be doing a little head work get some big ol sway bars on there make it adjustable track ready slap one pair in a circle fives maybe even some nto ones we really want to get that sticky sticky thank you all great answers as always exotic car hacks is the sponsor for may 4 VIN wiki car
