good to see you again a year went so fast I can't believe it we're seeing wonderful things at this show and I'm starting to see some fabulous new things and you're included needless to say yeah we call it the offset yes it's one of those crystals that actually teaches you something about how these form and you know it's a miracle any of us survives think they think of what would have happened as this was growing the whole pocket somehow shifted in a way that the fluids kept coming through similarly it's just defies belief to think this is not to have your fab your stack and it's a floater oh yeah it's just it so this is the difference between the Madagascar's best politico tights yes and look at the color coming out of Russia now fair now this is madigan that's Madagascar Russia and that's Russia ah so Russia's coming in there but this is a this is a very special case yes this was an 8 year project that actually is going to be featured in a book coming out with them in record in May that test I think with your video about the same time oh that's wonderful but Russia had never really approached the little Co tights of Madagascar cholera was right oh that's fantastic this is actually from India they've been cutting this for fast at rough because the deposit isn't near the traditional Indian mining areas our specimens in Maharashtra State these are from Orissa state so whatever they've been mining was being cut and put on the market as an indian humidor people thought it was irradiated and it was just gem rough this was only in the last year that a friend of mine stumbled into this and we got them to save the crystals good that's great yeah these are wonderful things catch and break on that up for ruff but how would they have known yeah especially if it's if it's newer to dealers who go to Jaipur they cut yes and this is what's always happened with John crystal this thing is really I'm not a big fan of Nuggets normally but it's so beautiful well the shape I fully agree with just what you said but to me this still shows outline of crystallization and has very little tumbling to be really a no yet no this our magnificent group ago yeah later that's it that probably was a nice sharp crystal yeah that's about a kilogram over two pounds fabulous that so yeah these striations are definitely unusual there I'm told that it's caused by some effect of the natural radiation on on the element that gives these the color some kind of a backscatter effect very good but you know this is done like most American localities comes out and then it's done that's right so I've actually been in this mine every year I go in this mine to see how the sort of look ahead you can actually look at the fluoride veins uh-huh and sort of see well are we gonna get anything this year or not because they get fed so this was actually a pocket we featured last year the fluorides with the dolomite yeah but this was the piece that the miner kept under his bed for himself because he just thought it was cute yeah that's a beautiful little flower on top you got it in China you know mining is really slowed down a lot particularly the iron mines that's why you're not seeing things from Guangdong this year particularly the multi metal mines like ya Gong Sean the mining is really slowed but copper mining is actually going really strong so this is from one of the working comp reminds okay and they're producing crystallized coppers now well that's beautiful these are just pulled off the conveyor belt on the weight of the smelter would you believe all right everyone gone right into more so I actually was able to buy a large number of really fine china coppers this year I'm good you know but but other minerals that were used to seeing from China there's almost nothing the other thing it's actually gonna hurt us long-term with minerals from in China yeah is remember they're exporting a lot of their mining to Africa so if you look at things like this in this case it's cheaper to mine copper in China but in addition to the domestic downturn there and here it's often cheaper to mine iron and other metals in Africa now for don't pay that you know I said so these are having more fights from the yunnan province have had more fight that color now in china their sole dismiss a knight's oh because they look like - missing to be honest with you I thought it was a samosa night I had him analyzed there's still people who refused to believe me so they're labeled well if you go to a Chinese collection they were able dismiss them it oh that's so funny yeah this is actually a straggler I had cleaned and trimmed from the older material home so we featured this two years ago this is still that same old same find that came out there's no new pieces okay so was it a big huge production of it a decade enough oh good and then the person who was stashing it passed away and you know we're saying those two years ago I had many Wow now this is the end that's a fantastic look at that a cube in the cube so I got that thing so it's a halide in a Cell right Wow in that ridiculous huh unbelievable well so what happened is you know now it's completely closed there's no more access so so the last that I'd had of these from before being processed and coming back from the cleaning and that's it they're gone I bought these two years ago no father you remember shall bear gotcha yes so apparently I mean the guy was a hundred and twenty years old he always looked the same as I remember I'm all yeah and he said and somehow he survived going into every uranium mine in Africa for his entire life yeah you know in right up till the end he was healthy and and and great so he was here still doing Tucson show through the 90s he had a storage unit here apparently he he the story I got is he'd paid it ahead a decade and at some point you know he'd long since passed away now the storage unit was sold and it came to market about five years ago yeah someone bought it and I ended up with the corner tights it was from this famous fine from the late 90s and I remember he used to have those in the ballroom at the old executive them Wow way back when and if he'd kept some in storage I say so it's old material fantastic so these are from the cave growths in southern China so it's on floor I and it's an l7 Kelso just cows I can say that is wonderful the problem is you go to China to try to buy these and they're in big blocks so even even something like this when I buy it yeah yeah because they're selling these as decorative objects for the Chinese household they're not selling these as mineral specimens so generally something like this isn't a big block I'll ship it home on a pallet I need to trim that out exactly very good that's a wonderful thing yeah yeah that's just pretty yeah I remember when I uh you remember Carlin Davis yes so there's a thumbnail collector happened to be my mentor I was lucky when I started cutting out four years old yeah and I remember the exact phrase used to say when he'd look at a piece like this you say yeah it's a nickel of calcite and a nickel of pyrite and all of a sudden you have a specimen know individually they're worthless yeah that's so funny yeah here we go I was seeing this in the case I said is that really real maybe they can't see it Darrell claw unless you get up to it now now I can see the crystals are right into the aquamarine of a muscovite yeah yeah so the question is that you're really thinking is it a fake and can they things like this the answer is they can it's actually to the point where you do need to check so yes something like this that looks too good to be true you send to the lab in your cheff what gave me the confidence to buy it was that the muscovite goes inside that's exactly if it didn't special right and so what people should be warned about is they can drill holes though using little drummel Dremel tools they'll drill the exact that some of them even use lasers and they can in place aquamarine or tourmaline in the matrix and so I have this problem in in China with the she lights oh and I'll show you one up here too to show the point yeah if you can see the inclusion going inside you're safe yeah right but yeah from a distance that looks and looks it's less you know ball no sure I know under false these are wild look at this it's almost like is that really for real so the way they form it's in this big shale deposit you pull out the pieces you can x-ray them and see the pyrite inside but you can even tell by the weight if there's pyrite in it in the shale was so soft all you have to do is you just slowly sandblast it away and as you start exposing the shape of the pyrite you just get really careful and slow exactly but their natural Bill Haas you remember bill bill he he was one of the first guys developing the lab cleaning techniques oh I say and this is what he did for fun on weekends he was a field collecting it's um the state bridge in Eagle County I said okay and it's 20 years of collecting here oh thank god this is the mushroom this is unbelievable what of that well now it's repaired yeah accessible in context the lawsuit disclosed it that's fine nothing wrong with repair special when they're special like this very rare I haven't seen these since um this quality since that that small mind in the Grand Canyon no yeah right they didn't find some there when was that Oh years at thirty years ago forty long time ago it's just beautiful beautiful fun so I just see what I see much more Congo material in China than I do here yeah really it's unbelievable now this is the malachite and what is this chrysocolla now if you peel away the chrysocolla if you were to abrade this off yes is malachite underneath hundred and it slavers yes I don't know what's first you now say it first or the chrysocolla addressed interested actually that is truly yeah see that there's now look like yeah there's malachite and then chrysocolla yeah and in more Malecha yeah very unusual there's another new Chinese piece oh yeah look at that yeah this type of a silky type yeah it's another type it's just like silk can you see the eyeballs coming out of that I don't think you even need my light yeah you really don't yeah that's fantastic it's like a little cartoon bird yeah fantastic and then beautiful this one has a little dance tonight oh that's for any thread yeah sure is you know one of those minerals you just don't expect to see sparkly that's right the coloration of this thing yeah this is a good piece this is from I think it's about 2006 2008 this was the mining in orem Chi before there was the revolt and a little bit more military discipline in China it's in shenyang in the far western province and there was a big wulfenite mining product and then I'd love to go with you dad love let's see what's going on over there and then what you have is the color look at this see when you get these in large size they're more opaque ish but these actually have a gem eNOS to them in the rich color look at that right uncut there you go it's from the same pocket I just say that they had some Jamie tips this is the best one I've seen this is fantastic so this was Steve smells remember he was in Hong Kong he beat all of the rest of us all these Chinese minerals for a decade I'm really frustrating oh this out of them that's absolutely fantastic and look at that it's 360 oh yeah absolutely you can just turn that off at a lot of Marines they call Martha marine since to white but you know this is what I was saying earlier with the she lights a lot of she lights are faked the Chinese will drill into the matrix so you put the crystalline and then they glue the the muscular unit very careful yeah with matrix she lights yeah and so what you look for is that inner growth right at the base that's exactly correct dad zero and not that bright enough yeah this is a hundred percent legit so there was a there was the earthquake here it's next to the pan to preserve and the Chinese government panicked about exposing the pandas to further issues that dynamite the rimmel from the mine and it's it's access is also very close to the pan to preserve so that's part of why most of what you've seen from here is a decade old and more from this manager of mine and the new specimens you've seen have been a little bit different have you noticed they're from a different mining at it on the same now I would have to see it again and yeah yeah I'd there's just hard to remember itself anyway I think that's it for here but I do have a surprise to tie back to where we started okay so the the Russians when we started with these I told you I had some big ones put away right so this was an 8 year project actually done legally scientifically with full mapping of the pegmatite that's resulting in publications and science and and they essentially found a series of pegmatite s-- mapped at geologically and then mined it properly for minerals for the first time ever there in the Russian Urals produce some large pieces and these are hidden here because I wanted to premiere them at the main show so you'll see them again there oh this is wonderful holy so there were a few dozen major pieces and it's because they had the time the science and the technology for the first time ever to really do this right this is wonderful with that court shootin right off the side of it the all bite on the other side and the moldable terminations the color is a fabulous thing Wow look at the funny color a little bluish yellowish in there and it's hard to see but let me try to show you in the right light it's a little bit purple I have a hundred percent I just had my eyes checked up a few months ago yeah now you see the color yeah very good fabulous that what would that be ranked as er if it were Jonas these things would be important but for Russians their unprecedented hot Sun believe our colors really coming through in sunlight it goes purple yeah I see you know there now you're getting it right right in here I can see it yeah yeah no other side unbelievable specimen okay take it outside yeah we can try it yeah there you go yeah you see a lot more oh no this is gorgeous okay well you play with that so you like it oh I love it that's the one you've seen what's asked one you've seen from Russia best by far now I'll see you the better one holy cow no that is really soft all those moldable terminations thing really has character alright let's trade oh my god I'm matrix are you ready for that like that I can't believe this oh oh this set I'm that's why the great term liens of the world and again I think oh yeah the color is just intense this is unbelievable so this is muted sunlight when you put it in one of the fancy cases it really just it pops with more Sparkle yeah but this sunlight really gives it the natural color oh and you know you don't need it you don't need a torch behind it it just right goes but what's interesting tying to your earlier comment it's not just the knowledge that the minerals are worth money it's the technology and so they have the years to do this properly for the first time other than the pattern era project you know that that one of our colleagues is working on I'm not aware of someone investing that many years and so many millions of dollars to really mine at my type properly unbelievable fine so I'm going to put this out at the main show as a surprise very I guess very good probably what errors oh no it is it's a pair you're not seeing it okay these are all these big ones of course just like the pattern arrow I don't have a repair that's right they did a wonderful job I haven't encountered it yeah there's there's to clean repair so it is minimal that mean if that all right I don't have anything better than this to show you so we're gonna end here [Music] great to see you again I missed you last year I missed we so missed you yeah it's been a while yeah yeah so the pleasure of getting to view your fabulous thing you've got some remarkable things in this world that vary so much as always yeah yeah start right here so what catches my eyes how many memories how many units have you seen with the crystals of Jim right exactly yeah I mean it's amazing yeah it's like fiery red just fantastic beautiful piece this is catching my eye yeah this is here we just get my kids yeah is here is very unusual it's got sort of an etched base its Illinois it's from Hardin County don't know the mine actually yeah but it's it's got this beautiful etched fluorite with a purple line going through it and then three giant Gallinas at the top oh it's unique I've never seen it yeah never seen anything like this that is wonderful I mean you're the famous Bonita White King so you look appreciate that more than well this is wonderful and scattered so well yeah beautifully placed on the matrix like that and big crystals when did you put them on yeah that's that's fantastic and it's you know these are always edged out but then is whoever did the etching we didn't do it it's just a beautiful job leaving just enough white that's right yeah but the blue is very important yeah yeah whatever guy on it no that's Fantas crystal is perfect on yeah really nice colors is just a sapphire blue is unique to these Scott this collar yeah now it's got a couple of heights okay that piece is is well known it's actually probably been out about 30 40 years now and it was it's been pictured in several books and magazines it's a well-known piece from the Santa Rosa mine and it's just you can't get you have your crystals in that and more more saturated color and you can see right there you could really I can see it that just moving it up and down there yeah this is one of the great tourmaline in the world absolutely I feel actually it's one of the great traveling this will have to be in a book of tourmaline yeah it'd be terrible if they didn't have yeah in the book yeah it's a pretty famous piece and we've been after it for years and finally got it and it was resold immediately we're very happy with it oh that's fabulous this is beautiful I don't know the date of these this is calcite from Norway I don't know when they came out but this Hedgehog look and the deep amber color it's fabulous week to this find and they glow just a little bit of light they just glow absolutely beautiful and we got this this year in Europe and I think they were recently found from the little bit I know that I don't remember seeing them before yeah yeah I think they were round yeah yeah it was a small group and this is one of the larger ones fantastic this is from Madagascar hook it's a little bit tricky to get this one around on the bhishma from Madagascar and it's just this fabulous totally terminated jewel sitting on matrix you know this is a fairly new find from about a year ago okay and we have two of them in the room but this one is a little different than the other one and from you know it it's as good as amethyst gets no you know wonderful I love that yeah yeah yeah yeah just as soon as a no look at the phantom in there very reminiscent of brand Berg it almost feels like brann bergen is but these are Madagascar fantastic then we can go to the sulphur there and learn out of sulfur oh for pete's sake I told us I know color sulfur it's the best color about me see it is right you'll never say anything like that on this drusy quartz matrix and now they've been finding these the last couple of years in Pakistan yeah there's been a couple of finds of these but for my taste and what I look for in a mineral this is my favorite one Oh plants are isolated contrast that trend is a complete intense yellow tear the color this is absolutely fabulous from an odd locality it looked like the sulfur deposit area in Italy oh that's fantastic I I think these brew sites from Pakistan have to be the finest examples in the world I believe it yeah I've never seen these they may be the best yeah never see anything like this absolutely right I would die to have this in my collection in my early days and I love that it's completely all the way around missing like this is a pink floral France this is dolomite has some nice inclusions of green dark green chloride but look at this that's finally yeah razor shut up yeah I like the contrast to seen this one and this that's right exactly with them white matrix to add to the wonderful piece what is this Cleveland dieter I don't mind it I don't know I didn't take much because Cleveland diets a cent more and it's basically transparent it is oh yeah in what's also fine not only its transfer but you don't have any fisher sir nobody beat things oh yeah yeah yeah it's just beautiful this emerald you may remember this emerald this was once owned by Rex Harris and it's been pictured in a couple of places it's called the angel of the Andes and it was his personal piece and you know they talked about it already forgot to show it to me well I really it's a visiting now huh we have this emerald you want to see it it was in the safe and the bank and then it was forgotten you forgot I forgot it oh god this is like killing all the stepped-up in these crystals growing out of the side yeah look at that clear that inwards okay what's India it's Colombian there's an old Colombian peace and it went through Rex Harris and into another collector and then to us yeah and we now one of the reasons we were very excited to get this piece is that in our gallery in New York City we're doing an exam world exhibit starting on September 26th and we're going to have emeralds from around the world they're going to be the best emeralds from private collections museums and from other dealers that will be in the exhibit we're going to do this exhibit and it's going to take up an entire room in our gallery will be on for three months we're gonna have an opening night party on September 26 with Ron rings red will be doing a talk for us will have videos going it's going to be an educational exhibit and it's going to be literally a reunion if you can say that as the world's greatest emeralds that's vent and in fact if I can I'll put this one away I'd like to show you one more emerald that's going to be in the exhibit Erica that's okay oh yeah just go grab it it's on the disc sure this emerald here is on loan to us from my good friend or Brown this is in his personal collection it will be for sale but it'll be on exhibit a jewel it's that hot stones on matrix yeah it's actually got a name it's called the three amigos holds like this of this quality and was going to be cases of them so I encourage every collector who has the time and the ability to get to New York to see this exhibit it will be a one-time-only to see this many great emeralds in one place the front is polished right very typical with included pieces yes it's quartz with hematite inclusions or and a little bit of rutile in there from Brazil okay and I've never seen such sharp hematite crystals in examining the quartz that's what catches my eye these leaf slings and it's just a beautiful thing looks like a piece of art it is and what I like is the the courts almost disappears and you're really let's write interior exactly that is something that I always try to teach people that inclusions the illusionist amount the inclusion that doesn't matter that the outside is polished so you can see it exactly the Burien side yes inside the course exactly yeah and to have you he'd roll crystals like that very usual that very I've never seen anything like that and this is the best one of these type of saying I've never seen any that that thing is again another Brazilian quartz crystal with multiple FanDuel yes and different levels have different colors and minerals yes that's cause the Phantom the big one in the middle is chloride the green one right again it is a polish specimen on the front and but the inclusions are just amazing yeah they're strong and they jump out at you look at the thing exactly fantastic this Galena was a part of a small group that we got from Peru there are about 20 years old they're not new and they were in my opinion they're the best Gallinas I've ever seen from her room oh it's fabulous and in fact Peru when you think of a Peru it produces so many sulfide minerals yes it's not many great Galena that's rarely get every Colinas from Peru ah wonderful piece they started to find these in Colombia with the yellow tipped quartz yeah they were analyzed as humble teen but right now they're telling me that they're not so sure anymore about that analysis okay so we're now just calling any yellow inclusion because we don't really know okay there were three major finds that we know of of these yellow tip quartz and each group is slightly different nice this is from the most recent find has very fine thin crisp beautiful and very bright yeah oh that's a wonderful piece truly in museum quality piece the centerpiece that looks like a calcite with inclusion it is it's a calcite from India where can a hematite inclusions that's what's causing the red crystal is actually a cleavage crystal it's not in the faces are not the outside faces there I guess I call them the inside faces if you want to but it's a cleavage but it has the shape of a calcite crystal yeah and it's you know it's just look at the protection of it oh we don't see colorful yeah it is natural it is totally natural anything to it so somebody asked me if it was polished no we haven't done anything - yeah natural no that's fabulous yeah and it's only what I've ever seen I'd never seen it before when I sat down what nogueira hold yeah yeah beautiful well I think you would agree that that's their the finest by the same clothes yeah I mean that is solid gem quality salaries sure it is unfortunately in this case you can only appreciate it so much yes if we put more light behind it yeah you can't even imagine what it looks like it just it looks glows this eerie red orange amber color it's stunning - best one I've ever seen it's the biggest and largest one I've ever seen - any better span it's an old one - that's a very old they don't know scale ahijon calcite and there they are neat yeah yeah that is fantastic the size and the gem enos and the color you could cut a lot of stones out of that these have been they've been finding these last few years in Russia these red tourmaline wonder and suddenly we saw a few that exceeded all the rest and what we're being told is that these like this one comes from a stash that the miners have been putting aside every time they mined something great and finally decided to let let a few go and that's one elastic yeah could you get that out I think that we're talking about something that is legendary yes absolutely here you have rubellite and those snow white quartz and all bad yeah I got it oh my god that's fabulous and it's interesting that they are lydic Oh tights yes yeah that's wonderful at first we thought they were just Ruby lines but then they were analyzed as little coat itit makes it even more important it does yeah very much I like to me too he was very kind to me when they came in Jenna stop what he was alone until two hours with me yeah I met him many years ago he seems like a very nice very nice man I was very sad you know No passed away this is wonderful it really looks like a custom-made fabulous thing yeah you couldn't do a better job of it's unbelievable yeah yeah and this here with these deep green fluorides and snow white oh my god you know they're gym quality floor absolutely aragonite matrix yeah another sense from well we have it labeled Roger leave mine but I I was told by the owner of the mine that it's the same mining same area but it's a different name I think it's thing I can't remember the Diana mine I'm a little bit tired forget anyway yeah and as far as I know they've only found the white aragonite twice the deploy for the rhino-rack white aragonite and for some reason these florets when they come with the white aragonite are the are much heavier it's yeah but they're much happier than the others yeah yeah their water clear yeah absolutely wonderful piece this thing is a fantastic it cannot leave a note ID from the classic locality of honor Binoy Mia Madagascar holy is really as a gem quality complete sighs oh is that perfect yeah yeah in the color and look at the luster on the bases yeah unbelievable yes eternally it's my favorite I've never had anything like some of these pieces showed me this interestingly enough is fairly recent out of the ground Wow yeah I mean I remember when these things were long ago you would see a crystal like this because IAM they found this a couple of years ago fabulous this is from a really obscure locality in watch ten state and it's chalcopyrite on quartz with these iridescent colors which are obviously natural iridescent colors and then you've got this strange black crystal running through it yes a crystal it's a mineral that I'm not even familiar with called lily and I Gustav ight and it's very rare and this may be the finest example ever found step up from this mine in Washington I've only seen four pieces five pieces ever of this chalcopyrite Wow and this is considered the number one piece they ever found that believe in no that's read more and it's all to it came out a long time ago Oh like like what is a long time I would say at least 25 years ago 30 years ago 30 that's fantastic it's from my aunt Marv it's fairly recent and but what a beautiful backyard fabulous gem quality absolutely fabulous they've got this huge crystal of muscovite a Cleveland night just one gem quality crystal of smoky quartz yes what's so neat about it you can tell that this is a hundred percent natural oh yeah see some people can't tell the repairs from non repairs than this I can it's obviously perfect yes yes that's a so beautiful for that size for a double termination window and Glenda Engle on clear quartz right from Switzerland fabulous and it's all complete come it just why you look it's a complete loader just the way you see it that's right and the thing of it is quartz is very common but not likely yeah and actually clear wrinkles are rarer than smoky wind that's correct that's where we are yeah yeah exactly right look at that root aisle are you ready this is from India it's came out in the last two years this is one a one-time fine under five look at the dissolution style and you know how I was explaining before how inclusions are often polished yeah not polish no that's natural everything natural it's like the quartz doesn't exist you can you see through it it's like it's not even that when you the outside Christos and that is natural can you bring that load of this thing look at those golden needles if you could look at the side of it it goes all the way around well how are those some inclusions it isn't a reflection from this no it's out it's all inclusions on inside inside that's what I thought yeah I mean death when I first saw this piece I assumed it was polished but oh yes completely natural oh yeah they can see this yeah hundred percent no no this is from Nevada scepter course oh yeah is that that location real close to California right yeah I think it is yeah I forgotten the name oh it's a hollow a junction yeah oh yeah that's one I've ever seen your area yeah I've seen a lot you never say that better that's nice yeah I have to agree it's the best one I've ever seen - and I'm sure example is very careful to make sure in fact earlier today this a woman came in who I didn't know and she showed me at her phone a picture of the guy who minded holding it outside the mine Oh would ya oh just out of the blue she had a picture on her phone she the day of the copier yes you gonna send me a copy of it yes yeah scepters would you believe this that hell wonderful ones have come out this is the best I've ever sent me - sorry - but you're right nice beautiful single it really is I mean it just belches out these fine things when they go dig in there yeah yeah and it seems to go on and yeah different every year they come up with sorry not a lot but they come up and this one is just perfect perfect I like the way the three tops are nicely the same size exactly very eye appealing Windell on a quartz crystal this one this one we can take off a smoky quartz go on a smoky quartz from Switzerland this is fabulous here's your regular quartz and then they got a Glenn yeah right that's fabulous that's wonderful this is what I always try to teach collectors there are been eight nights and there have been eight that's correct and this is Stan's leaks above all the other time you can walk into rooms and see thousands my god look at that yeah yeah I mean with big crystals in the chat way in size and the white matrix it's it's one of the best I've ever had absolutely agree now this one here what is this here yes everybody thinks is a Galena when they walk in it's a hematite Raziel yeah well most people think it's a Galena line it's so rare to see that form of that yeah yeah that's the the the modification as a lot of the crystals at this show so foot so far it's unbelievable look at the crystal faces are this yeah it isn't just a blocky crystal well congratulations thank you keep up the good work thank you so much huh David P I have to tell you something you are mr. Queen mine and you missed the finest green cap in the whole room right there how could I do that I don't know look you put that in there after I snuck the little one in but the big one my god that's the piece that was Miguel Romero oh you missed it with the glass I kind of missed it okay it's a beautifu you know Joe woods I have that in my collection a medium I know I know I know this would have been prominent in your collection oh absolutely the green caps are rarer than the blue cap that is correct and you and that's probably the finest to the nine calories of sighs yeah yeah I have not seen a better one seeing it kind of cut a few minor ones no that's a major thing say it was so that thing grabbed me so and oh I get it I got a mind-boggling so there's Dave with his legend and here's herb if they're from the same pocket same pot that they sure are I have this delivery cuz I had it mounted I had no Ajay put it next to that one oh my goodness that's the same pocket 1974 after the Barlow pocket that's right yeah I can't believe that $79 this is 2019 I know I know and the older you get the faster that a time goes that's wonderful well I had to interject myself so you want to see some things that I have yes and would love to see I picked this because I know that you love tourmaline very good is that Brazil Santa Rosa unbelievable remember the one they have in the Smithsonian the one that it's actually a little small nest with some Chi gap but sidecars but just look at that luster as much better it is I know it is it is better much better but a really old classic yeah and you know the center cores are those are rubellite it couldn't gets played anyway yeah it's a 360 it's you know for terminally you know this but for tourmaline there's usually a dull quadrant of the tourmaline adults like it doesn't have a dull fight now you can display this any way you wish yep that's marvelous another of course yeah they used to slice a lot of these these came out in 1965 yeah yeah and you know who was the person tre Fred Poe right is the guy that first found these and these were found when there were these ant hills and the ants brought up little tiny pieces of red of green excuse me and red tourmaline little tiny micro pieces and then they realized where's this coming from so they dug and that's how the Santa Rosa was found Oh could the ants get a hold of little piece of the tourmaline because there were little chips and stuff and they brought it up with the sand when they made the sand hills and then the garimpeiros if I'm saying that correctly yeah they just started digging hills and the hillsides and the whole place became unstable but Fred Pels the one that brought these in unbeliev yeah fabulous ting this is one of those Madagascar demantoid it's called either the smile of a necklace my wife calls it that necklace I prove I like to call it the smile what does that look like there what part it's a fossil yeah it does it's a shell and now how did that happen where that grew around a imprint of a shell see that could be over than Methuselah isn't that amazing yeah I mean that's just one of those things like wow how thick is a shell that's what I was told yeah that's what it looks like and remember that deposit has a lot of fossils and shells in it right there so yeah well that must be it then yeah that's remarkable because you remark about just within the gardens but to have a shell like that with it and and of course nature and nature puts puts it right around the shell just like it's a necklace or a smile it's one of those things you look at okay how did that happen yeah that's fabulous this is probably arguably I always say because nobody's ever seen everything the finest blue Smith's tonight I've ever seen anyway and its tsumeb from a classic locality and it's two colors you've got the blue and you got the green on the other side look at that well herb Everest it's unbelievable oh yeah there's no bits it's unbelievable I mean when you look at that and it's got the wet luster and I like the bicolor aspect of it it's got a little bit of greenish on this side and got blue on that side now this color it's the strongest color it's good nature just making you crazy Smith's tonight over theirs yeah collections museums no this can't be beat it's the epitome so last year Bob was interviewing me and I showed him a very fine day Optus on white calcite from tsumeb and there's something that a lot of people don't realize and this is a scientific fact if you take dye optics on white and you immerse it in water it grows and it turns into that so I opened the box when I bought that and I was like oh my god yeah it's one of the best ones I've ever always you've got the lustre you've got chunky crystals yes Isis yes and it's all white and it's all white it's like one of those things like how do you make this better oh absolutely a jewel mirror break that crystal face and I opted a started me when I was when I was 11 years old I got the original mineral Digest magazine the one that Astro had made that eight issue that's magazine that's right so my parents got me one and I remember seeing minerals of tsumeb so as a kid I rode away and I wrote Minor tsumeb mind tsumeb Southwest Africa cuz that's what it was back that's right and I put a picture myself and I said okay my name was early brown bear than when I was a kid so I just sent that with a picture of myself to the mine but no I dress nothing just like that they sent me back a day out this a Saru site and a small calcite with some duff tide in it and they just gave it to me they sent me this package with a my perspective prospectus so I always had a soft spot for doubt case when I saw that it was like that's the last one when we're gonna see a pigeon it is the but yeah I can't change this this is as good as I can imagine adapt taste for me ever gonna be that's right right so this belongs to a very good friend of mine when I first met him he was five years old and I think his taste is developing into where he's going to a major person and I think he's a chop off the old block this piece was purchased by Connor wolenski and it's a future Fuchs ight in courts and his dad likes inclusions as you saw its pristine it's beautiful and he he picked it out it's deserve what do you think of this I helped to negotiate it and it really hits my heart that here 22 years old this is what he's doing so I just wanted to show this and he doesn't know that I'm showing his rock but yeah but I just you know well you tell them that it's a killer it is a killer I know it's a killer and this one really hits me rehab that point right it's got a large face absolutely and the luster is good the color contrast is good he's got a good he's got good taste very good taste you know he's on his way David I've got some beautiful things soon as I walked in that door wow thanks yeah so let's start here Dylan this is unbelievable what a wonderful aquamarine matrix talking about the epitome of having the matrix with the aquamarine the aquamarine is very fine because as a rich blue to it it isn't just a washed out blue so it has a beautiful blue doesn't have any ugly cracks running through it beautiful termination but the matrix that it's sitting on it's fabulous it's a really special piece oh you just don't see anything like that in the Hobby no you don't oh no I haven't seen many many matrix and then it might be some all byte pieces and what-have-you but look at these wonderful muscovite crystals they're all balance the form mica was machine made yeah really and the color of the aqua is just outrageous fantastic and the size and where is that from this is from a tabloid young in Nepal oke from DePaul okay sits right next to the you know the world's highest peaks so lining there is oh is that k2 or ever Everest is the highest k tourists right nearby yeah Everest is the highest mountain k2 second-highest it has four change' yeah right there and I believe that's right beautiful piece of quartz right here yeah which we trimmed away for the balance and it just made the piece spectacular perfect this calcite here that's saddle appeared a light in the back of it it's actually it's a there's a 1/4 inch matrix okay and there's little calcite on the inside it's a mangano calcite okay okay look date it's picking up some of the pinkish violet color beautiful color is incredible this is a credible calcite yes this right here they clear those are some of my favorite Cal sites in the world Wow Steve would you like to speak a little bit about the tell sites from there yeah I'm pretty sure that's from movie and essentially no Americans know that I tell them but they always forget yeah Mission province and that is the thinnest one I ever saw most of them are twice as good what is that that's very pretty oh I killed a lot I have a couple from the same location one came from Stuart actually what about the Mangano house they said no one came from Danny - yes the mango yes Mangano calcite yeah my memory so tell I know that comes from Provence I think it's the de vine that's right that's right I have one I have Danny controls actually oh that's the that's one of the best of all I think it's the best it is the best yeah I've never seen a selenite like a bush like this and it's absolutely fabulous I've seen selenite you know over the years and everything but a cluster like I've never seen a cluster like that that's fabulous believable here's a new discovery yeah this is fantastic what do you make of this great I think it's a fine a small one I've seen now they have great big ones and they're beautiful I like all of them but a small one that is the first small one that's equal to the best of the large ones that I've seen and other than that I don't remember even seeing anything close to that in the smaller size you see that's it's it's like only a tree yeah on this little base here and the Drew's beautiful this is especially unique as well being Oregon it the color of that love that with a couple printed crystals from asbestos it's amazing never seen one not its first one I've ever seen so bright that's oh that's wonderful yeah you got lovely things in here that's a hematite with the wulfenite right there the the wet luster militate that's the specimen the colors so vibrant so never seen such a rich color it's just for that below rules no beautiful that's more of an imitate specimen than a it is yeah that is that calcite has the intense color Todd this cal-state was on the Tucson show poster in the 80s it was in jack Hoffman's collection for the nares okay look at the color Oh to call a contrast in the beauty do you imagine if that was that size to be almost perfect that's a beautiful of miniature you got a taupe out oh that's a beautiful thing but two tall passes can you pull it as I can't after double Germany hauls wonderful on the album this is really interesting here see this here it seems like too kind of butted into each other see there yes yeah see how different that is mm-hmm yeah it isn't just one crystal going down this was going this way in that way that's way it would interpret that or did it crack and then shift a little bit and then re-solidified I could see like a line right through here and it looks like it really blocks this so there must have been some shifting because it's amazing to see that because you would never see that today I mean do that it bumped it or something like that so they're it's very unusual this is very bright yeah and it's a gorgeous thing and the these are new apparently yeah that's a new find that's beautiful look at the luster in the call that eyesight is fantastic this one best mineral at the Denver show no it's only number of awards it won that is absolutely wonderful this came out of Brazil mm-hmm wonderful the Bru model I would have thought of some Switzerland is that a certain quality luster is available everything so surely that's a beautiful big cluster you got there that's from the Morenci mine in Arizona oh very good Morenci have you seen it better for Morenci no I can't recall there might be a big brick with a little bit on it or something like that no that's a beautiful piece yeah I caught my eye that's wonderful that's a killer because I've had some very fine Himalayas but that thing is really something is it repaired it is repaired yeah that's okay because if that came out unrepaired to be America that's a lovely one now when do you think this is fine in the later because they're not doing anything now was that I don't know his flaw rights blue beautiful those are two of my favorite specimen isn't one they're wrong that we listen to get that blue and that y'all gone sure stuff yeah Lobby ESCA its man abhyaas Pannell twin remember that yeah yeah it sure is well that's a major thing let's see that [Music] the twinning of that is wonderful and then to get blue blues much harder to get other colors yes which one do you like more but for the crystallization that for the overall beauty that the zoning is for no zoning and everything is beautiful I will lucky that's why I keep both oh yeah I'll get rimmed because they're totally different from each other and they're both blue that's what makes it really interesting to killer crystallization and here you got the blue rich blue color but this one's good because tell ya nice beveled face is up here a lot of these are just kind soso up here crystallization there but that this is sharp crystal very beautiful color Oh wonderful this piece was found in the 80s in 1988 and when late sold this piece to a collector in California okay and they just got that collection back a couple years ago I say no it's a beautiful it is a beautiful look at this little jewel oh that's still fight still bite flower on top of that epochal is that double Germany Italy the different formations it just boggles the mind pop the light and still buddy looks like a double terminated group there maybe not I don't know it is double Gators don't get to see in here you can say yeah now that's beautiful that's India that's Indian Java put this right in your hands is gorgeously cute I retain from Russia doll the worst diner course it's a terrific men it's a perfect manager asked for better people that's nice to get that on matrix and they didn't break it conrick I don't see it yeah it's perfect so that tells me they took this out carefully for a specimen this is not cutting material it's beautiful now where is this coming out that's male penis okay just beautiful the colors out there really coming up with killers fine things are coming out there and they're prettier they still produce it away they'll produce them fantastic are you ready for that looks like a ten that's a beauty yeah I like the more luster is on the front yes it is yeah in the back no penetrating crystal they're not cute yeah I like that this floor right what's amazing about this is all the little chocolate pyrite inclusions yeah oh it's just Hardin County in yeah Beautif inland and no restoration no repair it looks pretty rare to get them this oh yeah that sucks oh absolutely no that's a marvelous thing that's a nice size yeah because red clock very yeah it's a cabinet size no that's a lovely thing I knew what I knew wasn't some of the other mines and here you brought it out red cloud the intensity of color of that is fabulous that's retention crystal yeah like wonderful big Museum so I've seen big ones as well so it isn't it's hard to get I don't want to mislead you but what makes that extraordinary intensity of color of most cow sights and their beautiful setting on the matrix no it's a major specimen what did you think of the Cal State Rose that's on the cover of the westward look show poster inside sitting on person a fluorite with the quartz oh that thing is so it's unbelievable let me get oh yeah yeah I'm going to give you a little information on that I told Barry Barry who owns it find out who owns us and Bide it's priceless so I assume it's worth lost histories from Danny Churchill oh you bought this and I sold it and Marissa had fallen in love with it so Danny said Dylan would you please get the piece back and after many years at many years the collector decided to let it go and I got it back at I now called this piece Marissa's rose this is my favorite picture of a mineral photographed effort it's unbelievable it's alive it's on this talking wishing Elliott I wish I were there stand listening to me just saying is price it is I mean it's a perfect rose unbelievable yeah look at this in it it's is that repair I'm so dressing over here no repair I was trying to find out everyone if they just put it on there but even this believe it just what if they reconstructed this real need some scientific people got together and settle in professions oh my god you can ask a fortune it won't be a mineral collector it'll be a very wealthy human being but it won't be a mineral collecting yeah the price I put on this minimum quarter million dollars agreed yeah so I'd like to show you a couple other minerals I have in the back good I'll go get us great okay we have a Eagles Nest already done a little matrix Anna beautiful that crystal yeah later yeah Wow egos an S spine Kalin wander frog y'all such beautiful gold beautiful boy you don't see these anymore they just disappeared you can see why anything like this this this is one of the better ones I've seen can't say it's the best I just don't remember it's all I know it's as killer it's nice that has all a piece of matrix with it - no it's right on the quartz exact the luster in color it's a wonderful ization wonderful octahedron stacked I like that side just as much oh that's beautiful yeah this is the best side here no that's a jewel there's a rhodochrosite from past of we know from where Peru Oh Oh cut hedron's beautiful something's a little more opaque ish these have a little gem eNOS - up geminus this beautiful cone - if it were just better call our nice crystal size and it the crystal size and just some gem eNOS to him that's really beautiful absolutely I haven't seen this you know you see these that pink and you know clusters of that but to get to get this like this unless they hit a big pocket I'm not aware of is this new mineral very old what's that's very old it's all yes fantastic well you could be proud of that because it's the best one I've seen of this type look at this gorgeous louis lamento son hydrazine kite but you believe that they made the cover or something no this is actually just got photographed for the first time today well I say also this is the first time the world seeing this piece it's been in a collection since 90 79 okay Jesus slept sold it to a German collector I just got it at the Munich Show very good that's one water clear the epitome of the miniature it's fabulous see when you get them thick and have a totally transparent that's rare I've seen these where they're really thin that paper-thin almost so last year they were mining down in North Carolina and Jamie Hall hid a 12-sided barrel that's beautiful the best one he's found in ten years is this a North County North Carolinas is a major major are great ones in Houston at sounding Cal State matrix oh and this has I had one of these this size but this is Jamie very good yeah see this is the this one's scary a great piece now I have no idea can't remember this is wonderful see I like this much better with all the crystal faces that a little side one there I heard would you believe this thing then it has better transparency colors about the same North Carolina I've wonderful know you got a major specimen here well anywhere would be important but North Carolina absolutely rare really wildly formed few tourmaline in quartz and it happens to be a studio tantalate crystal operator is it Himalaya this is from pet rock Afghanistan okay yes look at this this a beautiful thing on the quartz perched see the thing in the formation of it whatever it is it was soft at one time and just when it was toward the end of growing it's bent and it's so rare to see these and tourmaline because Himalaya actually had a few yeah they did actually have a few of them but this is Beth it's the best one I've seen by far it's better than anything I saw from San Diego no this is a wonderful thing look at the log of this for a minute judge saw the thumbnail quality oh this is fabulous we filmed a magnificent thumbnail it's it's really a small miniature it's not really a thumbnail this is a wonderful might be a little bit too big for a miniature I'm not going to if they put in on an angle but it's a fabulous specimen the colour it doesn't come any better than they don't absolutely fabulous feeling a wonderful collection you put together every year you bring wonderful new things thank you you can be proud you're one of the highlights of my Tucson experience well it's always a pleasure to see you the pleasure to see you doing so well yeah thanks crystal classics Tucson Dave you seem to finish your glass of well we're very excited because we're here at Western look in two days ago we bought a collection one of our very good customers in Los Angeles who unfortunately is not doing so well but he said lucky and can you please come over and pick up the minerals so one of our guys drove over wrap the collection and brought it back and we're gonna present it for the first time ever here at Westwood look and we haven't sold one specimen out of it yet I see for the first time you got to see a virgin collection it's a long time since you've seen a virgin they've no choice they got the he dress on there look at less than wonderful because of modification yeah it's all modified beautiful even you know Jamie didn't windows YES on the faces this is English no Chinese okay now China's producing some of the world's finest then likes another any decade said Terrace tactic one of the great European classics I won't lift it up because it's quite heavy yeah this is one of the fabulous fabulous and try to lose your have a sin fluoride blue like this a stretch sky-blue I can't remember yeah this is so that you have the bird mind Pyrenees and a safer France a very famous beautiful growing on the white courts little Cherica Poirot it's dotted over it but what a beautiful beautiful cotton base Besant when a rich shade of blue it varies this is from the famous bull Chile mine in that Bennington's fantastic matter beautiful emerald green yes there's next case over here I'm gonna get the other to talk you through this because you know this is one of her passions are these beautiful little miniatures and thumbnails so she's done a whole case which Brian's gonna or she's gonna take you through now what actually D the intention with this case is it's that some of the collectors they obviously are more into the little perfect cute miniatures whether they are colorful or some rare species they really want they don't have so much space and they want to still establish a really nice collection and those managers are really very sought after their various different miniatures that we put in this case so we have a shelf just with gold specimens yes yes a new find from Nevada with nice little gold specimens that we displayed here amongst some Californian golds and Romanian gold over here yeah it's a mixture of miniatures on a bottom shelf a lot of sumenep specimens we bought not long ago the john schneider sumac collection and he was really very good in choosing perfect little miniatures and very various species and various shapes and sumif is an ideal ground to start an ideal location to start collection villages because you have so many varieties so many different species of minerals so many colors variations from crystals so that's really good and I'm sure it's a couple of can Canadian classics and American classics northern South America classics that what is in the middle that's a beautiful miniature that oh this one that's a Vivian light from Ukraine of all things Vivian oh yes I've never seen anything like it is they get really perfect spray apparently it was like a sphere and that's like a half of a sphere turn it around see the matrix but you see determinations of yes or spray also on the matrix a fantastic fantastic and that is what it is all about so things don't need to be large specimens in order to be really sought after and that's what we discovered so we dedicated a full case it's a crush like garnet promise or love Lisa Jeffrey no beautiful just a perfect manager yeah yeah man it's just a beautiful thing because you can very nicely display them and not a lot of room so if you just have space for one small cabinet and you can have still a sizable collection with a nice selection of classic minerals new finds and all sorts of yeah colors and localities we certainly notice that there is a whole new marker to miniatures especially since we've bought a new collection we bought a bird Kessler collection and he only collected miniatures okay and we made this public and we had we were inundated with requests off and that people wanted to know what's in that collection and it has been very very popular we've gained a lot of new customers actually also from from Japan they seem to agree favor miniature specimens so was a great learning curve for us because it seems to be sometimes as a mineral dealer you sort of neglect miniatures well and you're over to him and he will continue to tour the cases crystal classics tag-team here they and I dunno who you'd rather talk to but you're stuck with me for this game this is this is welcome to Africa so well you know one of the one of the things most of what's in here is African yes we we have the obviously the Hugo and amethyst and in there but most of the rest of this is from from Africa and one of the things that we have really ro known for our African classics and then why we were really happy to get this distant baby yeah this a man a the new collection that just arrived the man test what a wonderful little sad great color super thus they're wonderful terminations memory really makes us great is that you have a large above average size crystals on this and having it in a miniature like this see sometimes that once a while you'd see a great big piece with the size and then small ones around and here the whole thing it's just a jewel of a thing in this size yeah for the for the size it's one of the nicest we've ever had you know we've had bigger we've had better I can remember seeing a person in nature it's the best one that I've serious lovely yeah it's about that best stuffs and this for color combination oh look at that beautiful minerals can be so fantastic that's one extra guy here from training and this is an exciting calcite from a shamble western Congo but this is incredible I know a lot of people and I talk to a lot of people that are not in the mineral collecting world and they just they just can't believe it this is a very famous specimen this belonged to they don't make glasses and what is it it's a fabulous bail denied crystal and this wasn't huge crystal and that he was it nearly three-quarters when it is half an inch I would say that's three-quarters and it has epitaxial bows and ice coming off it under this actually one did some trophy at the Tucson show in 2012 about that so when John exhibited his collection no no what a what a provenance so different it's fantastic it's really nice to have you know like this this is the full history going way back piece Sir John was meticulous with his with his label now who was that John who this is John Schneider Oh John Schneider okay so these are the all the original all the original labels coat his coat and Davis belong to sirs from Colton Davis who are ocean joint okay so it was analyzed and it turned out that it turned out to actually be one of the roads find a building like Christmas holy cow though this dates right back probably to the 1950s and has been exhibited all over the world this is from the the African mineral collection that was exhibited in Munich again this 2012 this was exhibited musing that special exhibits oh it's lovely to have a specimen of all that provenance absolutely that's very amazed by the specimen you view by the history so it is correct very important this is very very rare doors I need a one pocket of gems guard is found in not a word I'd assume that mine and this is one of the largest I've ever seen the colors I've never seen a larger one yeah and fine I think I've seen in a large not quite as large of this but this is really beautifully covered that's a fantastic special crystals this is a size of that yeah this huge scar wonderful this would have come out in the one date 70s early 80s yes very very remember when they hit this pocket and I was a day late and a dollar short and I never got one now as we disap all this just before Christmas in Austria from the Hugo vulner collection we bought we bought his collection though they all seemed that you know fabulous very good fabulous things he really did have the killer's yeah very simple mineralogy just minute I'd little minute I'd to spray a little minute yeah and that's oh that's really proud on ask her what are the white I didn't know what I knew this was my locator hematite well that's cool allow you to see some of these and see some of the the malachite so pseudo morphing Cooper you can just see the octahedral formation of the Cooper and how about that what's the beautiful combination very much sir no that's that's wild I think this was some specimen I so many many years ago this is the Nazarite from the the very famous easter pocket and the masoom at mind be reelected in the 1980s roots here and the easter pocket has a very characteristic form to it Jim there's a really different this was from the new collections of this set but I just just came back onto the market after many years of being in this collection oh boy that is something this is a really cool thing you'll see a lot of Asians on the Marylebone in that back from Malawi yes this annex wonderful yeah oh yeah totally terminated yeah and these little brown crystals these are little desert homes Boozer cats oh okay growing on the phone spa just a couple of their combination people very rarely hears nothing of that caller that's right yeah no that's an A+ mineral this is a really neat thing I bought one of our good friends Carla Costa has very very good taste in minerals and we bought most of his collection from him just after Denver and if Carl has a piece in this collection you know it's going to be very fine how about and you know very simple mineralogy just so what is with the course crystal shad okay okay that's interesting that's a really interesting very different yeah that's that's fine yeah let me show you know classic we've been yeah you know the other side of Crystal classics is you know is appreciating that the old and the rare yes you know this is this is a great American classic you know this goes back to the probably goes back to the to the mid-1800s it's a pony plays Phil Kline oklet's okay look at the amount of mine in tin tech Utah oh one of the great American locations very much so originally in the New York State Museum again nice own tickets with it oh absolutely they're so important that really helps to have that with the specimen yeah the little balls of kleiner Clay's right do you know what when they mined this they discovered this back in Cornwall India in the mid 1700s oh and if you think about that time there are no mineral names so whereas they came up with great descriptive descriptive names for these beautiful minerals yes so first find them real call and they have no mineral name for it so what is this what is it yeah I quit beetle or so this was basically beetle or because they look like I say even that's an interesting know as you can always tell the the mammoth mind kind of plays from the Cornish ones because this is sort of a short rivet and that I City air rights which you don't didn't get in Cornwall but I got yeah yeah American history we appreciate oh very much so so if we move on to the Jimmy cabinet them down is gonna tell you all about the wonderful gentlemen always we have in here because it's quite a lot of new ones and I my wife be my wife loves gems oh yeah that's our gem cabinet so what we always try to do is design it so that the colors flow did you have a nice overview of what we actually have as a selection and by theming actually all of our cases more or less that makes it possible so we try to keep all the generals together or localities together and that makes it possible also to for our customers to come in here and say well I'm more into the gem minerals you know this cabinet first no good in behind a nice selection from Brazilian topaz which is nice so there's a nice classic special taupe Imperial topaz it gives a dash of color and it is really something that you won't see very often not in that size yeah I found out the other day a really cool fact that when you have them under UV they actually are cherry red they fluoresce really are you red that's right so that is the fun part I think about dealing also with minerals that you never stop learning and especially when you didn't have someone that comes in here and says well I'm only interested in florescent minerals you think hmm wouldn't really know where to start with this and then you learn things like this that an imperial topaz when you know of good quality usually have a really nice fluorescence of a cherry red or pink we actually have somebody that sources and works with us and sauces minerals in Brazil hence we had this really nice find from the cruiser of mine yes mr. little quartz is a neatly stacked on one side which gives the specimen a really nice refreshing but in Brazil today if they find a nice pocket of gem tourmaline it usually is straight sourced cut up and made into a gemstone and a gemstone market pace you know you can hardly compete with that you're ever put into perspective how try how difficult it is to source them really good displayable gem minerals that's right of course we need to talk about the Helia doors and from last year the viewers might remember that we told them that we were involved in the Ukraine projects with the helium mines so hence we have a nice selection of gila doors never seen anything like it but nice large specimens one of my favorite specimens is actually a large guy up here which reminds me of a little piggy when you look at it there's like his nose and there's a little ear or just too much is that cute yeah look at this and then this is great so I mean this is a nice large crystal it hasn't got the crazy edging like right for example the specimen over here that a color this limey green it's really sort of and you hardly see on display large Helio specimens anymore the biggest finds most obviously defined it was made in 89 90 yes and then was featured extensively in the mineral magazines all over the world but since then there has not been any significant finds that's beautiful yeah this is truly magnificent because what you have is like a wheel here all the way through I've seen them like this could be larger and what-have-you but this is a magnificent thing and my more tonight from San Diego County was considered by most experts the finest morganite specimen not for cutting what have you in the world that thing was a perfect thing and so forth but they made this new discovery this is better than these have better color yeah color of these are fabulous and then with the matrix so here you not only have a killer morganite crystal but you have the beautiful of matrix of all biting quartz by reports yeah yeah just to see this thing I saw a really great color you have to quartz and then you have those two separate crystals growing out so next to the main chunkier crystal and that is from barra de salinas in brazil yes and this came out so this came out very recently mom okay it's remarkable because it has absolutely they do I guess they didn't break it yeah very rare to get something like that especially with the pen soft yes one thing to see these broken but here that survived so they've survived yes it's incredible yeah no it'll fantastic know that that's a wonderful piece and that one's quite interesting David because yeah bring that out that advice it's that was actually found only a few months ago in the air well okay I find you that thing there you go from the five-to-one pegmatite in that volatile keep rain-soaked oh I can see look at there that I was going to ask you that is it's this new fine because I've seen this many wonderful that is fantastic now how does this look like in sunlight have you had these in sunlight at all yeah and that is wonderful and if you see the you know very characteristic oh yeah it's wonderful can't beat it fantastic transmission yeah look at that it's very difficult to get it right in the color someone can actually see the green beautiful side I think yeah look at this lovely terminated it is yeah yeah it certainly is I think because this looks good yeah this is not repaired the delicate pastel like that collar yeah that's really difficult to get might like in ice blue yeah yeah like a nice blue just a delicate color to it and here there's a lot of fun a lot of new florets a lot from this new collection and you know also very exciting to me some of the the finest from the new the new frostily pocket which which is a pocket we discovered just before Christmas in Deanna's Oh mind that the annamaria mine in there weirdo what I like about this and they put it back at Chris the lighting but it I like about this has really got a lot of emerald color to it and that's very rare generally speaking when you see green tourmaline say there they may be variants of shades of green but when you get emerald color like that it's a fantastic thing and that it's what we certainly experienced with this new mine since we put it underground and it was a surface mine when we started it and then we drove it on the ground we're now working underground and we noticed that before we get into fresher the material gets so to crystals a really Jim Jim Jim clear there this little Windows picture windows yeah they're very right here I'm seeing through this that one right there yeah look at this that bunch right in there look at how Jamie that is and okay show you also find a little water bubble inclusions in the crystals which makes it even more interesting yeah but don't put in a hot case they could read carefully display that a hot show or something a lot of people don't know that yeah wonder usually when you find those in the cavities they are all packed out with real thick clay yes we need a lot a lot of water and very careful extraction to actually be able to get a specimen is an example that you cleaned yourself or what I personally don't clean the specimens but I do go underground as well and of course like to collect minerals there's nothing more therapeutic than being underground we're on the clay out and seeing the tip of one of those specimens emerging in the national proceed further it's like wow it's so now that we are underground you don't see the full potential two of those specimens because when you actually go to the daylight they turn blue because their daylight fluorescence so there's a marvelous effect if we would take it to the sunlight is totally different goes right into a rich purple and you have a little bit of the background green probably another section of a greener section you know look at the difference between them this is the Deanna that you see it shows okay little bit glamorous and then you know this this is Deanna at home last year they're having a good time that's what she likes to spend her spare time doing in her own mind they can't see the taking out fluorite crystals doesn't have spare time yeah so this new pocket zone at the mine has been them has been really incredible because before we started digging at this new location and there was almost unheard of together the combination of these beautiful gem jewelers left to right and with elimination of calcite you know there's a beautiful grow just think of that wonderful wonderful combination yes look at that this combination with the calcite is just magical and if you looked up you know that's the interior Sparkle it's amazing flexions are incredible no that's a major discovery one of the interesting things that we find is that when we get the calcite in combination with these gem twins yes for some reason the calcite very rarely grows on the gem twin so it's as a mineral collector serene because there's a white with the the the gem two in Floyds poking through and we're not taking the calcite off they naturally come out yes that's fabulous and then sometimes in the same pocket of a few inches away you can get the the fluorite totally without Kayle Kayle sites at all yeah and then you get this beautiful gem twins crazy color yeah growing up from the base of the this more non twinned crystal beautiful so next we have this this exquisite Spanish fluorite from the Emilio mine in Asturias in Spain okay they've got these beautiful gem uhm yeah throw ice group with bear right and I'm not gonna live today because it's exactly so that is a beautiful things is Spanish it just has very little color just a light that I don't know how to describe it the bluish I would say a light bluish gray yeah almost very pale very pastel and then this is before we move on from thighs this is just negative Laguna for what a fabulous small cabinets nada just ones only wonderful wonderful that's all from the same mind no this is like we are that's very close to me you but okay just just a lovely beautiful thing so our next cabinet has mainly mainly European classics uh-huh of which you know our company is perhaps best known for and I'd see fabulous things in here that caught my eye right away good thing is fabulous yeah this is a major museum space is a wonderful paramour fight kind of Irish in France wonderful yeah very famous pocket epitaxial mustard yeah just plain different crystals growing over the big green ones now he's looked at I said I don't know if that's Paramore fight or what and then the Leigh boys saw it was Paramore fight but that's very unusual never see anything like that fun like a staining or something it's lovely the color is gorgeous that is so strong yeah look at that now I have you tested it yet do you know what that is this Basin here cobalt in calcite okay yeah house mining yes sir this is growing in the rock Moines Brookings yes last hundreds of years perhaps there was some decomposing nickel ores and enrich the Des Moines waters and deposited at this beautiful beautiful Cobo home believe it it's also clean ish yeah yeah you don't see cracks running through it but it looks like it could be about that thick yeah of this color no that's a beautiful thing we all know Knapp involved now confirmed epidote but of all places this is from Greece from this is just extraordinary find before this from the geologists who collected it many years ago I had never had a good one from here before Wow from yes that's wonderful yeah well that's a major piece that we composition Oh wonderful I think this is one of the nicest ones we've had for a long time in fact this is the lot the nicest one we've had since the last time we sold it oh we sewed this again many years ago oh and you got it back this has just come back it's one of the real European classics these started coming out in that I guessed at seventeen 1800s and very rare to get something as well-formed and sharp that's what I like about this you know it's you'll see around the show these great big I guess sir Cal sites also I don't know if you seen him in the restaurants and a Brian cute you know let him talk about the great big things and somebody was explaining to what I like about this the sharpness of the credit these are real nice sharp crystals where these other ones are crazy but mostly kind of like patroller looking that's a beautiful thing so one of the great things about the lafarge mine in France is the variety of colors that the polymorphic yes they produce this is all from the same mind test totally different all three okay same mine same mind different finds green yellow yes / happened and one of the great mentor locations in the world all boys and friends absolutely that's beautiful no no mineral show for Crystal classics is that are complete without you know we're like very much sir how great year at how great British classics so you know the others these are all things from the that's a beautiful spared that need yeah they're really really made the egg Ramon has a lining filled up in West Cambria very famous in the 19th cent 18th 19th century for its fine gem calcite yes the fabulous kidney always decay on the head me or that's what they call this yeah and then these beautiful combinations from the current moment the the courts and the specular hematite yes there are a great Camogli mind beright kelsey fabulous calcite - a beautiful joining yeah yeah yeah it's beautiful great I'll probably I there is absolutely no I bought this from a collector in Switzerland just outside of Zurich and it's just lovely he bought it in the 1980s and it's very rare to get yeah a beautiful study titik I'm a fist in that condition rarest most composition beautiful in your face dismantles yeah a real eyes stopper love do you think yeah in what really goes is just a we all know amethyst is and look always a lot of amethyst around but occasionally you'll get something really lovely yeah see it's so complete all the way around so that's what's nice yeah look at that down it's like a star outside star here yeah that's beautiful you used to call these knobs I know you would like to get your hands on an old a complete mental cases it Riverside this is fabulous part of this and what is it sniffing I'd know have you got a guess who piranhas may take your well you starts be getting it out for a bet they even work your way through we're gonna gonna wait Polly bass a I can't fight you got it very good obvious yeah it's not I'm not wonderful from the home down my name is Fanta no I'm not real good as mineralogists and over I just showed me a good rock I'll tell you what it is but we in chemistry of Anala never got into that you have something to show me I do David this is this is a little bit of fun you know quite often with the de-mining project we get we got specimens that are really nice to just don't quite make the grade we're so ahead of our laboratory you're gonna be a stone nation and a stonemason that no interesting he came up with this concept so over the next few years we're gonna develop this because it's been very well received don't get stored in your house yeah a real conversation piece for sure it may be that we got the gem twins here and this is quartz from the mine right so this is sir yeah you should have a piece of deannamaria in your own bedroom that's all right yeah this is probably the most serious what's hot in anywhere interview we've given for while we behaved very well yes enjoyed there were so inebriated so right right congratulations keep it up wonderful collection mm you got it wonderful merci and wonderful stuff you had pie people have and there's some marvelous things in this town right now these amethyst have slowed down but obviously in Uruguay they continually look for the stalactites and the second you know the quell sites and the things given to you yeah this stalactite as most of them has a repair on the bottom but what makes it unique is that it has a doubly terminated crystal on the top so what makes this one cool besides it'd be his lifetime cuz you have this w all personal right ahead fantast I've never seen a doubly terminated crystal on a stalactite nor on an amethyst really from Uruguay yeah when you think of and when you think about that it's right at the top of the specimen sack how lucky is that yeah now you look at it from a distance you see that one point there and you think is it disturbed or what have you but then when you start looking at that carefully you can see that's actually a double terminated crystal see most people amateur sword welcome oh did some of these break no they didn't break it off it's all perfect and then you're doing this properly by pulling in that out that that's actually a double terminate a crystal on top of a host slug like that it's unique right and the other thing that I feel that's important in the mineral world is that you point out the repairs or if there's been any you know composite work done so you know of course it's very rare to get us the like type that is it repaired so that this one's in very good shape with only one repair very good you know that particular pocket out of Fribourg produced these and a lot of them have you know spectacular color in this one it's absolutely a plus color intensity of that never seen one that intense in color I've seen the general color and a few pieces but that one is really intense yeah antastic and to get a large cabinet that's that's raining for the most part that's right because back then there weren't taking care when they were driving yeah so it's a Apple morph after and hydrate crystals and you can kind of see him yes yes they continued to form in these needle-like quartzes and it's the only one I've ever seen never see anything like that it's totally unique very unique specimen fantastic this now this caught my eye soon as I walked in this room I said oh wow this malachite everything that a fabulous never seen anything like that I might seeing some small pieces but this thing is true can you open that case for me but this one's kind of a forest it's unbelievable it's just a cool whole piece and when was this found approximately this was probably two years ago okay um when this actually became available on the market yes and you know the problem in the Congo is that it's very difficult to get any stalagtites intact yes but something of this nature it's in very good condition and touch has never seen anyone like that museum piece all its asunder but it has been sold and is going to music oh okay it's fabulous it's not just crazy I've never seen anything like this is from Kelly units it's got a box work and the bugs continued all the way back never seen anything like this part was floated it was on the wall here but it came out whole I've never seen anything like that myself yeah they're Smith's a Knights are usually totally different that's totally unique for that formation like that right i fantastic of course all of these chains have to be reconstructed Boccieri um and this one has just that aesthetic appeal as well as the clarity and um I love that you know beautiful of those Herkimer diamonds that was one of the very first places that collected oh really other than those worries in the Midwest okay that's tough digging up there high there's no doubt about that well we can talk all day long you got a wonderful two pieces in these cases that is truly magnificent when they get that size usually they're not that intensity or they have fissures clearances and that's just a magnificent large single crystalline I understand it's totally complete at the bottom as well this piece has some Providence it was found quite a few years ago okay was originally in the mark wild collection okay and this piece I think it was photographed in his book and obviously we can't get the light but the color is kind of yes the truly magnificent the thing is is it's a doubly terminated crystal so this one broke off and we healed him so that was a nice piece mu we have the twinning plane under Sun yes that's a fabulous museum specimen rather anything yeah it doesn't matter which way a hole it's just beautiful anyway we got the blue whale bite and the little tourmaline is on the bed yes so yeah it's a it is definitely a nice specimen a roto crochet for a big plate like that and all these it looks like something placed am i it's a lovely thing this is a story on that this is from the Giants pocketed sweet home mine okay collect you know I'm the project from collectors edge so this goes back but these size plates to my knowledge there were very few ya know that had no you don't say with quality and then the size and yeah it's to be an in space so well in there what they whether the quartz crystals in between yes actually got the whole package so yeah sulfites yeah with it and the court says you have the human rights tetrahedrons so I just like the fact that it they're separated and again the size of the piece very very important for a clean space enough I got this looks a lot like a so it kind of looks like a teddy bear and I said what you can't hold it that's one of the very good out like that di F from the original that's fine several years ago but they were hard to get in the multiple balls the color got better yes let's say get a group you know undamaged not as wonderful you know fantastic no it's wonderful they're just jimmy smoky quartz --is with the by colors and the all bite to set it all off somebody you know I would have had this in my collection a heartbeat when did this come out some time ago yes this is when bill was running the project I'm sure you know I've been doing shows for so long it in Europe and here yes you know I've had I've been lucky enough to have the opportunity to know the older people in your age group who have contacted me to you know sell their collection so fantasy this material recirculated on the market exactly because he can't get things like this gladly so I thought it was a wonderful yeah this came out of China yes so many things do but it's a really cool I felt beliefs emanated there right that's right I know it's very different looking it's fantastic the kunzite you know come produce the bust yeah that find they had very few where they stayed it or were on the cooker yeah say that and so that one's unique because it's a matrix piece right yeah very unusual and so I haven't seen many like that but yeah I mean those are in my mind obviously they're totally gem and iris crystals that have ever come out in there ah wonderful for a crumb tray right yeah that's fantastic same thing yeah of course they're dark but I had never seen anything oh it had you back late it had that type of color beautiful what's this on the table here that this is this is one of my favorites because it is a blue Florrie from poison c'mere fans Meghnath a the color Oh intense blue yeah it's the only place that has this unbelievable blue color never seen anything like that that that is really rich color and what is this this is like this is purple for a oh sorry oh yeah oh got these so underneath the purple and I'm sure that gives the dark blue a lot of it help inherently does here you can see the whole vein so you actually had grieve for it here down below left they all bite fantastic beautiful sac so Dave I've got a couple other pieces in the bag so bring them out and we can have a look at very good that's right okay yep look this is new material the pocket was found about a year ago but as in alterman's it's very difficult to get a piece that has no repairs so finding which crystal goes where this one was one of the best oh I love about this piece is if you see it has the little tourmaline 's and then little tiny EE terminal where it says yeah and it's like a flower oh but what really made it stick out for me in this pocket and this is from the Chia mine is if you look at the tops they turn blue with a purple stripe it is yeah and only on the pinnacle terminations but they all turn that same purple on a color that's lepidolite in the background here yeah so they're just oh it's beautiful yeah we thought about trimming this off but all I was do that yeah natural it's yeah yeah I'd leave that just like well you have this excellent like a little flower it's fast results continues - nah it's it's amazing so these are some of the cruzeiro's but what's happened is they've morphed basically so these in it's amazing there were three separate pockets on any one vein yeah but these have like this oh yeah if Hitler this when this formed the blue centers and then the electric tabs beautiful so I think yeah this particular group of pockets will go down in history is very much the finest oh absolutely and they're just so aesthetic and sculptor istic fantastic they're great yes I wanted to show you these day because you can appreciate these I've collected copper silver gold my whole life but look at the size of the crystal in a twinning here oh well the fact that the reentrant twin came on the face of the crystal and you look at the size of this tetrahedron I mean it's just it's unbelievable it's a great that's a marvelous thing though how old it tokens when did you get this I've had that for quite a while my collection eyes one of my clients have really liked it so you know I brought it to show them in persons I say you know it's just a unique piece absolutely and then because I brought this box of coppers this was in there and this one would you believe this the very strange oh so you have these very that one Elise yeah it's elongated crystals again I've never seen anything like this now and these are both from Michigan yeah yeah yeah you know production was exactly but they're just unique so yeah they really are totally different plus they're very nice-sized cabinet yes a doctor crystallography so it's different yeah this one is really really unusual so they continued to produce well thank you very much in the middle Grosso district of Brazil that's what we and this is a different claim than the original and of course this has the larger crystals and it still has the skeletal gross as you can see but they're crystal sizes is very large doesn't have the luster of the previous distal size as fabulous oh absolutely see back in my early days a collector would have died had that you just didn't see any of these offered for sale they just didn't have them back my day if they had them they kept them and just didn't tell anybody but these are fabulous things and people are dying to have them now get the sizes different we've had crystals up to this show so it certainly sir proximately when did this come out proximate ah within this year but very few with the size yes okay we have other ones that you know have single crystals up to like this Wow but there this was just unusual because it's large it's probably 8 centimeters yes has the hopper along the exact like crystallography others exactly yeah back to my days I was never able to find these type of crystals they just weren't available they just crushed the stuff up Azure and that was that if they'd hit crystals at all okay Dave this one you're gonna like fantast organ it's even hard to see the paint this is fabulous look at this specimen these morganite that have come out are better than the one I had in my collection that was a fabulous thing for years and here they've really struck and here it is a perfect exemplar that is what is this this is a man piano tell Mangano okay Mangano tantalized it was nice that it got placed and what do you think look at that son now this a fabulous thing you know and the morganite czar so much more difficult to obtain than the aquamarine Chris a lot of people don't know that the general people look at that yeah that that that is just fabulous I thought you would appreciate this this is from the original pathway advice isn't that soft and it now can be improved with new techniques in the lab the rhodochrosite yeah but originally this went into dr. Webster's collection okay and it came out and back to me and I'm excited to have it yes and now when you say improved what he had talked about just cleaning the surface there and there wasn't techniques that you could clean it but this particular piece if you look at still has the iron standing on it yes they were basically washing these you know they'd sell them yeah so that's how things were done back then that's still tantalite well this is a Huebner right oh it's you blur and what sets it apart from the colorado rhodochrosite is the large quartz crystal size and had the larger human rights on the piece and tristan and most of these will sink of course so to have these deep red ones and if again this isn't the best light for this but you can see that it is going to change dramatically because it does have gem gem quality right exactly so it's beautiful nice I thought you'd appreciate seeing one of the oldies yeah exactly like I said earlier that then lucky or blessed enough to be able to acquire a lot of the things that I sold when I was very young very much that are coming on the market yeah and I just wanted to mention that my family we have the Saros mine in Colorado oh and we finally got all the infrastructure done and the ground support and we are currently ready to mine next year we did somebody at the beginning of this year my son Matt kind of made me a picture there's the kids Rand ahead so that's - okay we're missing Lisle Jerry and he made this for me just to cover the year because Matt's up there full-time days that's fantastic the people working there so you're going to commence a mining the side yeah this summer will be in full force in last year this is the quality that we're finding like that that's great yeah and just page through this quickly this is my wonderful wife sighs oh oh would you believe after we blasted here yes there was a clay seam yeah it was mainly God so I said you need to get on a plane because I saw rhodochrosite oh you see that he's cleaned out a little pocket here this is another one this is the first piece you don't know look as this would you believe that and here you can see she couldn't wait to clean him to God or a rental houses fantastic and here's a good idea to give you it when we were in this Sun God vena turned into the pasty dik-dik night so it was probably over where the specimens were protected because it's like a toothpaste oh and once we got it is that part of the vein um we were taking out these grew oh like this is never that employee yeah and this is the dick I pasted and these are on very nice purple floor it's with my pubes fantastic look at that that's another piece out of the dick ID vein yes and these are blood red yes and so what we need to do is get into the clean pockets which we fully hope that yeah and when were these found these were found at the end of the year end of the season last this year yeah very good yes look at that was kind of a great story yeah Lyle the Gerry and Lyle weren't there part of the family I had him cleaning some of the vein material that we took because of the snow were trying to clean up the rest of this go drain and everything and I had we were putting it we thought it was all low-end at that point yeah and we had them putting the vein material he was cleaning it for me outside here and two second he comes screaming down to the house and thank God he didn't rip yeah really we I've definitely missed about a two and a half by three inch ROM who was in the vein bag in tact I just got lucky there I want to talk about an excited nine-year-old yeah when we showed him what to look for it it's unbelievable this is what it for dad test so we're really looking forward you know to a long life at the ceremony very good well congratulations a wonderful job fill out Mike Ryan you always can win fast it's unbelievable and here you got some more wonderful minerals as usual and so let's get started these courses are magnificent yes this is Alpine quartz we have two smoky quartz pieces here the large group yes a smaller smoky quartz Grindle yes which is interesting because I got the hey you the volume is from 2007 Chancellor think that's an all the things hidden we could beautiful to mark that now when were these found approximately those are found around 15 years ago okay there's an article about you know a bunch of nice pieces yes pocket and in the same area this large group was found two years ago very very recent one is truly magnificent really beautiful yeah so this is a smoky quartz almost moreand like almost black and guys it's really a mori on Connor this is really look at Black and Tans like quartz and this comes from a t think lazier area oh it's just very famous for huge Amorian coincident they found there already in the 1800s the big pieces and but at the time they cut most of the crystals yes this was before Brazil and Africa really like develop goes for crystals so Mauryan was really valuable to come in at the time Opeth you don't want to cut something like exactly especially when it's minutes or so perfect yeah they even have a bigger version yeah that's beautiful so that's obviously from the same same time let's say my okay yeah also very fine two years ago and there was it was a huge pocket but what happened is due to the ice you know of course on the high altitude yes ice correct many of the the crystals was broken basically wow that's fat this is Quechua it looks like a Gwendolyn there's yard it's a beautiful oh yeah let me let me open yes oh that's wonderful come on the thing is that it's a really look like all it's our only Baba you can just play it on it anyway anyway there's no match in here right centered between these these Greg Euler group Christos that's a magnificent that beautiful nice matrix with malaria chloride fabulous Florida net a beautiful matrix specimen is a nice isolated crystal there this matrix its form of law and fear this is the most recent new things that have knocking tears I have a few more things I'm going to show you okay and I thought since the weather is so nice today it's just a single smoky I think I quality and it's just this external here yes faces my observations if you see that maybe I don't know Drex Brian if you if you hold it against this guy it's a slap in here can you catch it like that and notify just beautiful complex termination like that pristine perfect okay it's a very fine smoke acquittals wrong lot if there is a myriad of falling marble - and you can even see they're fabulous and these were found this is also pretty recent very good it's a landfill for car that's beautiful beautiful their aesthetics is emphasized in these crystals calcite central area Oh Andrew area okay did I find out has not had a wonderful thing you have a little bit of through T leaders it's these hard time you know like the tree bark it just looks like bark of a tree in that mate but it isn't its stock it's gone oh that's one that's what I've seen from there that's from one of the tunnels that you say there it's an older piece chrome tremolite Wow marry Lonnie Tanzania hey you know the same locality where the tanzanites come from yes oh that's fantastic you know I didn't get any great tanzanites lately yeah it was really difficult but so that's something that's a rare thing yeah and the color you know wonderful like a chrome Connaughton tremolite normally is not as exciting exact ah no they have not so you know just a handful of pieces I got yeah it's beautiful yes and that sound when did these come out refer this was last year last year autumn fantastic that's about the only really new thing I got from there and that's you want to film one up one of these singles yeah yeah look at that Jamie over the last few months during that was a very different type yes yeah have this truly magnificent to learn about nature you know everything you know better than anything I've seen come out because do you know quite a bit of this was found that this is just unbelievable nice contrast you don't absolutely brilliance beautiful in this was found just recently yeah fantastic so pendant here's another type what's a different color yes a lot more red and you know a lot of this was found but not like this this coloration separation of the crystals I didn't see good ones in a while you know I did to find a batch and then it dries out for a couple of years because I find more exactly it seems they're in a good zone right now yes there's also a little different market at the beautiful aesthetics yeah must assume that around so Brian can film that side there yeah there you go beautiful fantastic it's oh that's magnificent the term lean on smokey like that look at that this is the famous of a century this is a picture in this was one of the first pieces I remember you know I used to go a lot to Pakistan at the time yes now it's you know kind of dangerous yes this was almost 30 years ago Wow hot and it's all complete yeah it hasn't even been if you look at this here it hasn't even been like clean yet there was no lapse at the time you know see the idea and I left it this way that's right no you did the right thing because it's the subject matters right like that this beautiful wonderful piece and this was found 15 years ago is safe and it's it's more more difficult to get it very difficult the wonderful perfect cool congratulation once again they've nice to meet you yeah I'm very proud to see you here and I always collect us of our callings that's right I think that a long time ago yes and I know yeah I was a small kid when you come to either wash them very nice of you yeah well I'm very happy that you have a booth there do you feel like you'll be coming from now on here yes it's the first time here first year beyond America was or home booth yes and we hopefully come more time it's special to this show and also we are in the Minich show so we focus on just to patrol snow Oh your workmanship fabulous there's nothing like it in the world think yeah and I was very sadly informed that your father passed away it's very sad that she passed last year away he was very ill and then you're taking over the yes yeah I take our company and follow him in his footsteps yeah that's fantastic well I see beautiful carvings in here so let's get on what let me introduce to all ik or like as one of my partner I don't mean I see mrs. Herk how you doing so was all like we also build it up a second company it's called pre Hut it comes richer from investment stones we should work together while agus comes from financial business and he feel enough in two comings because he follow means of workshops II however I can't he he merely get interest in it and we decided to build a project which is called tree hut so both names of us which we want to support and also to teach awesome gemstone column which we say their goods so we teach them we give some better rough stones to work with it's under my supervision how it's calls or they can ask me how to make sirs and this and our company buys them and tries to promote some good whites and 4xu also sell some there's this idea behind the tree hunt yeah like a very very happy that you're doing that and pass on the wonderful workmanship the Dreier's done not over the years you have to understand for me it's important because I may be the last in the generation of the TRAI family and they don't want that everything get lost from the knowledge so I started now to teach people that this kind of art continue exactly that's the main reason yeah the reason why I build up my all like this company and show up here and to Central but maybe you want to tell you one thing if I may say that it's kinda the new project which Patrick involved it's actually a new project for me it's a transition of what Patris ancestors were doing working with Faberge and it's a transition into the new kind of fabric a lot like what Dre heard studio what what we are having is doing by supporting artists from Germany from Russia well from around the world we're providing them with high quality also gemstones and as partridges mentioned under his Street supervision and advises as a professional professional artist I would say how to work with stones that's it's a kind of self promotion for the artists we working with that's right so and this is our main American show where we are presenting the objects which were having here here we have some from Russian artists we have definitely from Patrick's father ancestor mr. Zimmerman and definitely we have Dreier carvings here too Patrick give us a showing of some of the wonderful carvings what you have here well um first of all I want to show you one piece which my father did at the gorilla or the her shining obsidian from Russian it comes at the moment at the market so it's not a new piece it's wonderful the detailing and the expressions of all the faces are so realistic they'd never seen anything like and so my father I had only two assistants in his whole lifetime two students one of the students was me and one of the students was mr. Zimmerman mr. Tim Owen started that father working around 15 years when he was in the age of 15 years okay and later he was autumn aster Carlo and when I started apprentice each time I get teach from posso mr. Zimmerman and for my father on the end task and after I make my diploma or graduation Thomas at the moment open its own workshop very he's also now retired he is more than 70 years old I say and here you see one of his masterpieces piece it's a Russian Empire tapas the piece gets found in 1930 very old natural piece from Russia pears we find out that mom is at the moment crafted around 1987 round and it was always time in a private collection and two years ago one in half a year ago we get the chance to buy it there so they're beautiful and you see it's a hand the craftsmen for my father's teaching about he goes his own way so he he works a lot the spear switch my father never did so all the times I was not a competitor each of them goes his own way I say here I can show you one of my last object it was a custom order it means the owner of the stone gives me you see it beautiful oh yeah the red the blue and so why Allah give eyelet and cream yeah if you're poor color yes and the owner get mrs. peace I'm the one to get cuffed and it was exactly the size so I don't cut away a lot yes and it's very unusual this is nice godless wonderful that was my last piece which I finished the end of the year oh the detail is unbelievable in the expression that they're so realistic they try to be as natural as possible right absolutely my family goes in carving back five generation so as a company which called poetry yeah it was opened for my grandfather so he exists now 85 years before my current grandfather's odd company yes and but this coat closed and my grandfather make a home company but my generation got as my family goes back 13 generations working with gemstones in adobo son haha so as I told you that we have sister AR Perot check I wanted all like introduced you to some of I saw Carlos yes to say his expression so what we are having here if you don't mind we'll start with the upper row here we have two skulls which are saying the story of the nations the cultures which are passed in the histories so here we are having the skull with Maya writings on it which names as the temple of the dead culture and it's produced this one and here we talk about later produced by Antonin I have from st. Peterburg smoky and here we are having the skull of Nefertiti and let's take a look which having the precise textured detail details on the layer which is made from rock crystal was pretty heavy yeah yeah yeah a lot heavier than glass that's fantastic - so this artist well it's really famous artists very good one perfect with details yes I guess so that and here we are doing the long story of as I said different nations so we'll proceed with the other skulls there engage will be done another story is dragons since I was living in China for the last ten years and we get to the idea of proceed with some Chinese cultures sorry Asian cultures yeah so we are following into the Dragons which is for example this one kata dragon not the font is it not larmina families and it's done by Evgeny Billy it's also artists from science better work I could say that all artists we are working with that great but so let's avoid is just this very good artist yes which is great with working in the netsuke style yes this is amethyst this is amethyst and the eyes are made of chrome yellow dragon comes smokey quarries yes it is from the ocean wave and it's called sea spirit very glad that dragon wonderful they've allowed me to show you this nice small blue tapas snail yes made by gannett appealing from st. Peter Brook this gentleman at least this gentleman works in the netsuke style with Japanese art style which appeared in the Asian times with all samurais who were wearing kimono and since they didn't have any pockets they used external outside pockets and they needed to have something to take out from this let's say bag populace so they attach to anything when they had their small art let's call it objects but now we call it art which were made from ivory and from the wood so and here we're coming to the Faberge Faberge was such a big fan of an esky so he had actually collection of five hundred more than five hundred probably he wanted he came to the idea to make neski out of gemstone but at that time in st. Petersburg he didn't have any artists who could do this yes so he started creating models and that's how he one of the stories is how he came to either Augustine where he asked local German artists to create Netsky for him out of gemstone that's how we came to the idea of having netsky style gem stone carvings and chest and the denied appeal and he's doing quick work in this it's really yeah I have another one here and if you don't mind I'll so this is whoever you see that yeah and the detail at all your perfect detail and you guys let's change yeah so I'll take you slowly yeah and look at this scheme yes you're out of this it lies on the wave bed yeah well that's a fantastic idea and the color it just so rare fabulous color the other artists which were heading here is Viktor Zhukov they are another Russian artist he he goes to the animalistic style he works very well with details and there we are having this mice on the two mushrooms please take a look to the side so it's made of blue-collar dory yeah come to such details we have to say thank you to Patrick there because he is leading artists to work with such a small details that s yeah especially if we're talking about animalism if that's definitely were greater family first fantastic we have great artists Redeemer Katrina who works in be let's call it neo style modern style here we are having the wool into eternity boo that's fantastic so the ribbon is made of again yes the body out of smoky quartz yes and the horns made of rock crystal so this is the composition of three stones three stones and what is remarkable about Russian artists they go into the precise details on the surface of the objects very good and the second work of this artist is octopus which is evident also details and performed in rock crystal so here we can see the shelf exactly and please let's let's exchange yep that's I give to you so our work to conclude is the three head studio working with different artists ok but major and let's say basement for the studio is Patrick Dreier who is not only controlling that gives the ideas to artists how to work know what to do very because artists working with us they're pretty well more or less free in which way they go which direction which objects Horace yeah but it's very important to let them work with rare stones which we are able to provide them with with very precise and good instruments and mainly with art professionalism of pattern layer right yeah fantastic thank you very much for coming today we shared yeah and you're gonna be back each year now yes we will yeah that's fantastic yeah welcome aboard thank you very much sir nice to set you bus here it was a big pleasure to see your gamble sure I hope you'll get a little bit a few about what we're doing what gorse very good that's a beauty that's wonderful look at the detail into that does that with hematite yeah yeah damnit I don't know tiny the root area yes yeah oh yeah little quartz crystal there would you believe that that's a beautiful small hand sized specimen and where's this from it's from from nova horizonte brazil okay this is a very nice miami tight it's not from china it is from thailand from the hedge i've never seen anything like that of all places thailand therefore yes there was a i think it's small fine some years ago okay short time after the big find of the chinese stuff yes beautiful scattered with cubes of pyrite fantastic yeah a real showstopper that's a really good that's wonderful yep we've seen some beautiful Florence it seems it gets better and better it see the more demand and or new collectors getting into the Hobby they do more money so so we're seeing some wonderful things that are being mined them telling that to each dealer and collector it's just this a wonderful yes in a very old one yeah it's fantastic gentle white on quartz that is beautiful what is this now gentle white it's a wonderful example it's like somebody just place this in there and glue them in there that's wonderful that's a killer I agree I would have had this in my collection immediately if I was collecting yeah let's start in this showcase with this beautiful calcite from China look at the 210 wonderful yeah look at this yeah pristine oil around and look at the way this is Stathis so I caught my eye that it didn't that's a wonderful cluster yeah very different colorful Miami type person Peter Couri this now of this size this is the best one I've seen at the show so far because you got these individual lumps like this and I bought a little sample one yeah a few weeks ago just to see yellow say others all crystallized but this is much better this this superb this colors intense so you can be proud of getting this yeah it's a tough thing to get wonderful window from pre where a rushing wind will look at this with fabulous another window on the bottom exactly yeah that's a wonderful piece also the clarity yes insane good for that locality is correct yeah wonderful see this is very unusual okay what you have this as you mentioned the term liens you got the all bite and then you have some of the pinkish deepen of the spy German itself going into colorless so it's by coloured that's unusual it's a beautiful specimen yeah you can be proud of that a fantastic silver from Utrecht Jack want the word saffron subtract walk through Oh the world it's a Peruvian very nice wire beautiful lovely fun you see the fin wire there oh yeah yeah I'm a nervous wreck oh that's lovely okay from gamma classier than Switzerland okay I think this is like window that's it yeah absolutely well see this is what I like about the combination of the two and that's why I wanted to verify so you got a Gwen dough and then a regular more no.1 shape and it's beautifully flawless smoky quartz that's this a lovely thing and if you see the pocket you'll be very impressed as well 500 metres wide my finer things si and on the centre of the wall there is the pocket Oh fantastic when did this come out approximately about 18 18 months ago fantastic that's a very good straight fight a extremely fine yeah that's a lovely thing yeah I've seen many of them yeah in this house they're exceeding rare that this has character to it now that's lovely this is just fine silver from batopilas new Nevada mine and purchased view I see you know very beautiful crystallization yeah yeah elongated crystals are hairy warrants yeah yeah very good combinations absolutely different types of crystallized oh yeah very different yeah this is definitely different our bamboo garden home or fight from Lafarge yes a very good one it's feel very different yes yes you see how the Parma fruits are scattered on the stalactites of the limonite right yeah yeah that's beautiful this amazing pearl or fight is not from China it's from Spain from Spain and review I'm beautiful the color rage is intense you know it's beautiful one of the best I have my company absolutely the colors oh you're socialization is very very good you guys have some very well developed yeah oh yeah and here is a very good road of best color best luster a beautiful that's another very good Paramore fight from Lafarge that's beautiful and here we have Ally rockin mind for real goal and these are very hard to get nowadays you just don't see him that's I love the contrast to get some of the ones you see just this but you got the contrasting matrix this said it said it on me yes wonderful well congratulations once again thank you and I see it was a pleasure to see you thank you it's a pleasure to always see your beautiful minerals so you know it's so nice about this besides the size the spacing of them yeah you know sometimes you see them in clusters but this a wonderful specimen yep good luster and no damage so just a nice easy so here's a large aquamarine from cigar Valley in Pakistan beautiful and that came out in the 90s and was in a German collection and then I got it okay brought it here for what's hot into something no oh that's wonderful about universe meeting right in there they're very large crystal yeah very good beautiful matrix from Sweden yes okay fine these are large what are the size of these for this type you know usually about like this no that's a nice thing Oh best of color alright so in the back pain well this is a deities from tiger Arizona Wow from tiger Arizona how about that a nice little miniature that's really neat quite rare in it oh you didn't have to be very hard to get or orthoclase from madagascar very good I like that Jimmy oh yeah that's very fine I never had one myself never had what aren't defined very hard if I would have had this in my collection you've been to Burma Dave this is a great experience fine the color is as its major absolutely beautiful yeah I like about one and you got pretty darn good translucency to it transparent it'd be a cutter yeah oh that's beautiful that's the best one I've seen I've seen it a couple others at the show but this is this has more red to it purple from right from Fujian China intrastate but the quartz is going inside of it beautiful color this is a fluoride from unpronounceable location really I'm gonna try Reims Bach mock Oh this out there we go so that's a wonderful one that's fabulous now daddy the hardness of my collection yeah oh here's a very cute tourmaline from Cruzeiro mind no there's original purple on the bottom and every month on the top yeah yeah it's just gonna great color and and that's from the kazars era my tweezers oh there's oh yeah and here's a crazy combo I don't think you may have ever seen that's a damn bride with the term lean from Russia never seen anything like that yeah so we were lucky enough to pick that up from the new pocket they hit a pretty big pocket I think in October of last year ice and it was coated with pocket clams so we had it cleaned there's a queen mine piece oh very good nice small size yeah that's better you know the Terminator crystal there that's good that that's on the back here's a nice a nice little inking it's what you call a slug that a beautiful thing nickname yeah yep King mine that's very beautiful the pitlane oh yeah look at that that's very unusual I haven't seen anything from the county where the lepidolite sought determination so this is from the pheno mine like okay it looks like the Brazilian but this is different yep and the size quite you believe this yeah so that's yeah Riverside County not saying you County but it's close by here's a nice chassis mine at your right very good oh you don't see these anymore especially clusters there yeah clusters and this a good size for this locality and here's a very unusual but beautiful piece yes that's from Burma from Burma beautiful aquamarine that's fantastic a sprint that's a beautiful spray yeah I do that real quick here we are with uh Oh wonderful mushroom tourmaline on matrix are your order please look at that you don't see a lot of those very often this is very rare look at this away these terminated here is a large show line from Burma it's Roberto very good okay blue yeah this deep a blue it looked like for the color for sure that's wonderful yeah just alright Dave I think that's everything thank you good job beautiful things as usual thank and [Music] and you've got some fantastic things I'm starting to see in here thank you there's a couple major exhibits in this room yeah yeah give us a spiel we'll start in this case mr. bule it was Brian Harris was a really renowned collector they started out in San Diego County grew up there and he was heavily involved with the Himalaya especially and and the Stewart and little three mines were his big things so he has massive Suites of those particular mines then he moved to Montana and started to collect Montana minerals at least in a bigger way and he built a collection of American classics Mary so so the San Diego County stuff and the Butte Montana stuff were the biggest sweets yes they also had representation really good representation from Arizona and Colorado and several other states there Hannah so so in this case we have most of the the Butte Montana things that are here at the westward look yes and there will be more to come at the main show there he goes oh that's great one thing that caught my eye soon as they came in this room is this pie right like a circle like that that's a very unusual quality piece that's beautiful that's a unique famous piece actually and he's had that for many years and it came from coops I think is the name of a shop in Butte oh and the owner actually contacted me and was wanting to get it back actually kind of regretted selling yeah that's been 40 years ago now that's really a distinctive thing with learning yeah told me definitely caught my eye instantly soon as I walked in here that's fantastic look at that does that quartz in there this is quartz and these are in r.j. Oh from the letter S or a lot of them were a lot of large rights game okay I'm glad you pointed that out because I don't have my glasses on you tell the distinctive distinctive forms of the pyrite from Butte oh you almost can't mistake them for anywhere else I say I'm glad you mention that yeah it's a barb less than the Cova light that's very funny disco light actually he's got a there more come more Cova lights here at one place and you probably ever seen yeah there's there's three up here oh yeah look there's three more down here there's four or five more that'll be in the main show but also there's rarities in here as well like the jury ight and that's just in the caucus a jury a group and very rare minerals gold this is a early early Butte that's you that's pretty significant you know it's little yeah yeah when they collect Clark minerals and I would have one general area like this gold is on a major major gold specimen before here is there because it's something definitely major and very rare it just doesn't come out so that's importance a great mind name to the goldsmith mine gold so there's a gold Smith mine and a copper district that's fun the law rights are unusual the flow rates are very rare I almost told that yeah look at that never saw fluoride from there that quite hold up to China though does it or Illinois oh yeah and the Kulu sites also these are a very rare mineral that's I don't think it comes from many places other than Butte and there he's got two or three that are among the best I know uh I've heard of it I can't remember if I've seen it before mm-hmm so those are some of the biggest crystals around that's government that's old and she that's right that that's what I wanted to say so typically the high-end ones that's fast about as good as I've seen I can't remember seeing a better one that's fantastic there's several styles from there and and see those on the shelf some of them are really brilliant blue yeah some of them are more golden like this one that's right yeah and then there's pseudomorphs also you know if you have these tenon tight after count you're so late pseudomorphs okay let me see that one just that's a big one no does Koval like come from any other locality oh yeah yeah well some Villa Colorado is a another famous American okay and there's some from a location in Italy I'm not sure what the location is but yeah big sheets of it there yeah but Buda is certainly the most famous yeah that's what I thought yeah just haven't I can't remember other localities when mentioned it's always beautiful ten these are sharp crystals and they're really nice blue this nice luster fabulous that's my favorite no even even average ones even not very good ones of these are hard to find constant darkness so to see this many in one place unbelievable that's too miracle you know the beaut stuff it's all they're all really good the enlarged eonar Jade's are our fantastic I can like that's really look at that oh that's fantastic yeah that's do you need to do that let have that thank oh he really had wonderful things yeah there's a quiet collector did you see that look that's a bit quiet yeah that's right it's not the prettiest thing these crystals are really fantastic boy I thought this was the cat's meow to have a Kalu sight in every collection most people probably haven't even heard of yeah right Rarity's are just married that's right huh secretive and mmm-hmm so these are some of the better things from the for the San Diego economy arms especially that looks familiar yet I own that yes you did you gotta open up the space double terminate smoky quartz double termini termly this used to be a cat's meow in my collection I highly prized this and you know you have the minerals in your collection you can you forget after a while who who ended up getting this I wonder where this went and what have you so this is Brian's catalogue there is cat okay so that piece Himalayan mine piece this is Ralph Potter remember to Gerry wetly today and will that Pella properties at 72 unbelievable that is really neat look at the that is look at the surface of that oh that is wild I wonder what that so you probably haven't seen that piece in 50 years oh yeah it's a long time ago long time ago I don't remember this yeah whatever it is it's been a long time wonderful tourmaline Queen morganite this was from the this was from I think the 72 blue cap okay it's a hard tough to get huh yeah see this the garnet in there now this had wonderful piece of double terminated smoky quartz here it's the garnet and here's the muscovite that's a hell of a fine with little three though I'd die to have this in my collection it's kind of a unique Association I think with the mica yeah it's not the classic with the shore oh and natural indict that's right we'll see some of those and it's a winner restful of muscovite it's amazing no that's a killer you see the color like that Stuart's got good color but that thing I think I've never seen this color from the county never yep I've seen the color but not from the county now where's that from what am i Stewart from the Stewart Maya there's others that are close you know this kind of thing yeah this is like this is like Jonas raspberry I really get around hoping I'd like at that chirp right there okay there we go beautiful and the morganite that have come out around the world it's just incredible and this is a killer from the county and they're very few fine ones like this from the county so this is a major thing in the county but worldwide now they're being be oh yeah oh yeah there's some great one lievable great big ones better color but for the county it's a lovely piece this is magnificent I'm in the history of my life of collecting did I see literally a collection of not only all so many fine tourmaline from one mine but the special team gardens you never see that two or three or what have you I really don't think there's ever been this many in one place mat or absolutely right absolutely magnet and they're so distinctive be from anywhere else yeah you could see him that 25 feet away and you know you're looking at that is remarkable and you mentioned to me that he was involved in some of this mining hot didn't alone my understanding is and I'm not a county guys yeah I get in trouble here yeah I think he and buz gray owned one of the claims okay and then the Leo Spalding was his name I think yeah and the other small to remember that and he mind their claim as well okay then then Brian and buz gray got the cutting rough for the gardener he's good but in the meantime obviously they were close and Brian ended up with a lot of specimens and tests so have you got more than anybody else it's heavier got as heavy as the pie right it is heavy what tell opposes heaviness that's a little Zab it's a combination though yeah it's a bit right yeah this is a magnificent thing I've never seen a piece with the blue topaz is scattered on the first time I've seen the piece this fine yeah you're lucky to get just one crystal on it here you got two crystals here two crystals here the Smokies this major major piece the best one I've seen of this type so you're familiar with the big pocket what they called the big pocket not really so this was this was the best one from what they called the big [ __ ] pocket and it was seeing lots of plates of lepidolite big lepidolite missiles like this yeah and then somewhere in the pocket was this got it with the topaz that's fantastic no I've never seen anything like that's better than the one I used to have really yeah oh yeah Wow there's others with shouro but I think that's my best Chris Tesla crystal I got that thing beautiful and I was so happy just to get a nice one I can't remember the detail was a good one who it fit in this collection and everything but it was so hard to get it they just when they found him they just disappeared immediately or kept kept them and didn't show them to people that's a wonderful thing that's exactly it was usually the shawls are broken that's right that's true so all of his are terminated or housed as we terminated sure you see that so this is really a classic and I'm absolutely depending on the pocket that some of the Cleveland I would have a pale blue color that's true I remember that dimension this one I think compared to that see that one that's why there's some ones more blue little tena blue in it congratulations do you want an exam it's a pleasure really and one of your old friends yeah exactly thanks a lot [Music] is everything going well I'm keeping busy and we're getting some fantastic shots I can imagine all materials it seems to get better every year yeah a few things to show you come over okay so for several years and I've showed them to you on the videos before I've been importing diete specimens from the Congo now this is not Democratic Republic of Congo is the other Congo Brazzaville oh but for our purposes we'll just say Congo yeah and I have these new diode cases that are unlike anything I've ever seen from there before okay these pieces have actually formed castes after a pre-existing Batra oil mineral I'm having to take this one out here you can see look at that you know these spherical happiness so my guess would be it replace something along the lines of shattuck I plant yet maybe chrysocolla possibly even spherical malachite the way I envision the pocket is essentially an oblong hollow crust where the original mineral has dissolved away if you flip it over you can show everybody what the exterior of the pocket looked like I believe and you see all these small spherical shapes on their Sun resulting in this Drew's of emerald green deities on the inside so this is the crystallize on both sides yes that deities on here and deities on the other side never seen I have it like this the pocket actually had a front two different kinds of forms and this is the piece that we're gonna use to kind of bridge the gap between them so this one you can see here the same you know sorry little crust says this piece no but when we flip it over there's a bit of crystallization in here that matches this material right so this and this are the other half of the pocket eyes so this one plus the bridge piece and flip it over gives you that hi Christine daaé Optus replace another mineral like that yeah have you seen anything like this never so totally off the wall these are literally brand new I got these two weeks before I came to Tucson y-yeah and I've got several flats here we're looking at the best ones right now yeah we're gonna pull out one more piece here because there isn't a lot for associations yeah hold this one I'll show everybody there's a little bit of golden-colored wulfenite in here and it kind of reminds me of the old pieces from tiger that had diabetes and wulfenite together yes that one and this piece right here great example of the wolf night association so this one yeah look at that you see that it's also another two-sided piece so on the front you have these nice emerald green trigonal crystals with a few dots of orange wolf night yeah flip it over and you can see there's a coverage of tons of wulfenite crystals on the other side there now this is the best ones the Association even though the species themselves aren't rare this association is rare from this locality and I really haven't seen it from any other place never to Chicago quite like this especially with this unusual crystallization yes lastly now this isn't from this year it's from last year but it's the best one of its kind this damp isolated on quartz a single crystal freestanding like this I would say tsumeb quality in terms of color luster geminus beautiful it's not seen anything like that no I've never seen anything like that everybody knows tsumeb dial piece on a calcite not Street on this real nice sparkling Jemmy quartz matrix don't really different and very pretty in person it's hard to get you know you can't replicate the color of dye out case in photos it just never comes through the way it does to the naked eye right but it's one of the most beautiful colors in the mineral world for this emerald green hues right and you have a perfect undamaged isolated Chris that's the other thing finding single isolated diopters crystals on matrix is also exceptionally that's right we have new wire silver specific wonderful from the Honda mine in China hmm to me that reminiscent of the old German classes yes things like Freiburg where you have these groups of wires live varying thicknesses some of them are really thin filaments that some of are very thick heavily striated wires they're crystallized all the way around on both sides here I'll hold the flat you pick one up yeah that may be my favorite right there just because there's so pop is pretty oh it's fantastic what a fine it come out well I'm I've been told they're fairly new I sent entirely sure how recently they were collected yeah but I've never seen this many of them like this in such good quality really showy aesthetic specimens and they actually stand up on their own many of them like this guy here you can put it right there and it's just freestanding on the table like that no problem that one the one you're holding dave has probably the thickest wires out of anything in the group yeah you can see heavy striations on every wire they're less like elongated spinel twins on the majority of those wires and it's a really dense packed group of wires around each of the pieces right it's nearly 100% solid silver throughout maybe a little a can't fight sprinkled in there but mostly silver and these came out when well I told fairly recently okay they could be older specimens but they were delivered by a friend from China here at the shows I said for me they're brand new because exactly and I've never seen this many of them like this it's a new quality you know look Randy no famous pieces from Mexico had a 9 inch whatever I don't know something about the Aztecs son one of the most famous mineral specimens in the world yeah but the thing about LeGrand it-- it has that beautiful yellow color but you never see gem material you're lucky if it's translucent or x-rays but to have transparent LaGrande eye is ray extremely rare what's even rarer is to have faceted Legrand ight now you know my brother yes he's been a gem cutter for years yes well he got his hands on some facet grade Legrand Eichner on this most recent fine and I'm gonna show you the three best examples of what he's done here Wow now the big one is nearly three carats okay the two smaller ones are under a carat but they are absolutely clean this guy here in the middle has the best you call it lemon yellow color yeah and the one on the end has a bit more of an amber color to it but facet grade Legrand a first time I've ever seen that's probably rare on the market and my brother is well known for being able to cut soft material you know things like rhodochrosite sphalerite calcite Laurens Nick he was the guy to cut these and I've never seen a good one let alone an absolutely water clear transparent example an exam in this capacity rare stone collectors oh yeah they don't have Legrand ight in their collection exhale hunt for decades to try to get it yes see he's got a few of them here and I just I wanted you to show them off I know you don't put a lot of stones necessarily on the video but I wanted people to see these because it's such a unique once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing we may never see these and you know no thanks Dave I really appreciate you coming by yeah it was good seeing it up [Music] just fine and been a while it's been a while and boy we're finding wonderful things and I send wonderful things in here seems to get better every year especially up at this show yeah let's start out with that that love Legrand I'd yeah that's a beautiful supplement these are tough different thought you know these are very tough to get that's an old one too yeah they're not from the recent stuff that is correct because I had a big one the real tall but this is the old one yeah yes not just oh yeah just found that too long ago it's a beautiful piece it's amazing it's always been the little you'll never see a lot of this no it's like he's here to peace there so forth yeah that's that's a beautiful piece or see anything live in this nice with the spinel fantastic go to that thing yeah that's what you call truth museum specimen I've never seen it better one yeah no neither of aisles not even close fabulous and when I walked in there said what does that back there this one's from Zimbabwe oh my god look at that classic area collect things happy just to get them in that side that's right and that's a wonderful thing psyche a ball yeah it's a wonderful piece now give a little spiel on that little calcite crystals on it yeah look at that see what's nice what you just pointed out is that that attached crystal on this if somebody was getting cute I'm just making sure can always happen they get an all wire and it can go out this way they they make a character specimen out of it then here you wouldn't want to fool around with that at all yeah that that's fabulous it's all natural repeat that again there's uh you got your dye uptake lighter green as I'm sure Duff tight and then they all on calcite crystals okay sure don't grab I'm not okay with that second one you mentioned that's wonderful that's truly a museum piece in the location I'm assuming it is yeah that and I feel it yeah get a nice little twist going on there and so this is I found some smaller ones this is the largest one what having the same high quality yeah so this is even harder to get the big one the big one that's perfect yeah and the colorless yeah unused fabulous you know usually they're smoking here you have your regular quartz crystal here and here you have the GU endo here that combinations oh sorry they saw a few small one this is the best one we've seen of that type and totally clean so it's just it literally flawless looking yeah that that's a major quartz yeah that's a very unusual piece that's also from tsumeb Smiths tonight yeah yeah look at that that habit like that and you think about something like that none of these are broke I mean how do you get it out of there without one of them being jailed exactly that's a wonderful thing I don't know what it is in my day of collecting everything you didn't see the variety that's come out of all the different - like Smith's tonight and now these unusual variations of Smith's oh yeah are showing up it's fantastic yeah yeah that's a beauty Jimmy red yes beautiful house gem in Spain you know yeah that's wonderful and I've seen kind of big ones but this is just some hands a lot of them are Cana they don't make much definition the arm you know exactly things got that is kind of going for you got it yeah look at that crystal have it yeah it's a wonderful piece these were collected between 2009 and 2014 okay and they they they released a medium quality lot a big one oh right after that and they held on to the best and yes now I went over and I picked out of about 600 pieces 25 you know a couple years ago there'll be you know yeah there was it was nerve-wracking bringing those back on an airplane yeah I picked for a lack of damage and Colour and it's beautiful you know they they told me this spot is 45 minutes to the nearest town they would they would go out and stay for 45 days then they would go into town get supplies and shower let me go back to them you know and and but they're wonderful wulfenite oh absolutely but this is antique and if I'm not mistaken they polished these in Victorian times using rope rope yeah that is something look at that pattern it in everything and what is the materials bear right it's a bear a bear rights heavy yeah okay very different yeah see all that gone right down the c-axis there yeah look at that pattern I have a friend that was digging some he got permission did you know a few years ago to go in and dig some of these stuff and the place was a hundred yards or so off the main road and there was no trees or anything and him and his friend are out there and they're digging you know I'm getting a big haul going and typical of him he decides he's gonna take a nap while the other guy works you know yeah and he lays down there and the guy keeps digging there's miles of dirt everything and makes the you know the police show up oh and somebody reported that he was burying a dead body oh it's like classic I mean when you look at this its crystallized all around to look at the backside oh this I'm gonna be wonderful just one large crystal will start with matter that when protruding off to the left of it and then a little one off of that one two three amazing it's a super locality there's stuff that's come out of there unbelievable yeah it's just a lovely cluster okay very good it's a combination of about four or five different minerals yeah they just refer to it as Mohawk I feel heavy that is I mean that's so a little bit of me yeah I'll see that made impossible that mixture you know though that is sabore that copper is produced fabulous copper look at that big saw blade when they're slicing slicing Loney yeah yeah this is really something usually I mean I get these in collections a lot but they're you know small little sis nodules yes exactly no nothing like that a museum piece then right over here that's catching my eye there oh yeah big gypsum chip stuff that comes from the locality that puts out all the big amethyst geodes you see all the decorator you know yeah tops and stuff how about that do you see it's on the amethyst yes yeah so I look the light-colored and the same same stuff that you gave and sometimes they get these big gypsum it's beautiful yeah pretty like that they're nice and sparkly the quartz has strange overgrowth exactly look at this I think I've seen a couple singles this is the best one I've seen this is really remarkable talking about something different I mean these are rarely seen available yeah just putty on there yeah right and what is this now it's as you're right after tetrahedra replacement entry dry with a quartz without that how interested from France you happen to look into a little set of them who do you think they came out i I don't know but I'm sure it's long long long long time ago it's a difficult life it's been screwed into a copper plate yeah and the guy told me the reason why I said a lot of the old mine captains used to do this and then they'd give them out as souvenirs or or mementos or some what do you love to be given this association that's a neat story no that's a great piece there's a lot of good silver person oh very much so yeah I like that a lot a lot of people have had these are seniors there's actual big ones came out but very few on matrix that were fabulous no it's in wonderful shape to inward assist from that's from Tanzania Tanzania fantastic well congratulations once again every year they always bring wonderful stride ya know he's doing a good job thanks proud of all 2019 you know I never get to see all of your minerals anymore okay because you know we don't live together anymore and you get these things and like for instance this malachite bunch down here look at that thing that's it's the greenest snake I've ever seen yeah how many pieces are there there there are 29 slices and this was a single malachite stalactite from the Congo that we had cut and polished and you know and sliced into these so they're 29 pieces yeah it's a it's a huge match set that's really something that places produce some amazing things but I don't think I've ever seen one sliced quite like this with so many pieces yeah we saw the stalactite and felt that it would be best presented in this manner and it's a really unique thing I've never seen another one so you had it sliced here in the States that's correct yeah okay yeah that's really something it's from the Democratic Republic of the Congo of course you gotta call the rest of the malachite we see these days really nice yep beautiful usually you see the green what they call praise quartz from Greece and it's just green well this specimen has a second generation light amethyst top tips and growing on the praise course which we'd never seen before and it's a very unique specimen huh no I don't ever remember seeing any of it that came out years ago that headquartes on quartz like that yeah that's very unusual yeah he saturates Amalekites really caught my eye this is the locality that produced the great coop right specimens recently in the copper specimens and but they also find cutting grade azurite and malachite cheese and we were able to get a hold of some of these spheres nobody else has these beautiful little bugs of Juji yes you're right yeah it's very reminiscent of old Arizona material hmm we thought these were just super yeah it's wonderful yeah they've got pockets of azurite crystals and look at that along with with malachite yeah oh sweet Oh yep that's the best of that mineral I've ever seen peridot might and it probably is the best one you'll ever see this is a mineral called pear adamite yeah I'm uh famiy of course yeah from the Oh whale of mine this is an exceptional example this was discovered in 2017 this specimen was found and what's great about this most recent find of pear adamite is the color luster in the gemiini so Jimmy misses you some the pear adamite specimens from the 60s and 70s were typically opaque and not quite as asterisks we're really tiny hard to identify yeah well some of the older ones had larger crystals yeah but the quality wasn't like this yeah that's exceptional really funny and these little white needles here are Smithson eyed crystals and of course pear adamite grows almost exclusively with LeGrande diet crystals yeah it's through courts from Pakistan but along with the courts take a look at this wonderful that's an appetite crystal oh yeah it's a pink apatite crystal looks protruding from the courts and then these aquamarine crystals grew right on the apatite bring a second third generation stuff there or something like that well it just does like they just grew there by happenstance and you know you end up with this wonderful configuration which I've never seen before you know it looks man-made but it most certainly is not yeah yeah yeah what we have here is probably the most aesthetic microlight specimen I've ever seen now microlight is a rare earth mineral and that's this little octahedral crystal here yeah and it's stuck right on a large huge filter you he'd roll microcline crystal and it's actually quite aesthetic right here yeah you know it's a large crystal of micro light now most of them are micro and literally yeah yeah it's not they tend to be small and they're usually you know in a not a pretty matrix yeah yeah but this one's stuck right on this lovely white crystal yeah this is a neat combination specimen this is from stock Nala also in the northern areas of Pakistan and you've got a really Jimmy fluorite here with just vibrant green color a quartz crystal some albeit feldspar and then these elba ight tourmaline is making for a really wonderful combination piece yeah I like the flora it's really complex got a lot of faces yep you've got your cube faces your octahedron faces and your dough deck faces here on the edges Lea complex that's usually an indication of higher heat you know the cubes form in the simplest law captures and then as the heat goes yours go up then you get these more complex fluorides right that's a great combination of three specimens yeah yeah this is something else this is a giant indicolite crystal which of course is blue Elbe a tourmaline and you can see here grief it's extremely large and this was mined many years ago at the Santa Rosa mine in Minas Gerais Brazil yeah and it had such a parallel growth certainly one of the largest indica light crystals I've ever seen yeah it actually goes beyond being a doorstop actually yeah it's a little little better than that wonderful well thank you you're welcome you at least thing thanks for coming in the room nice to see you again it'll seen you since Munich yes since my pleasure to see you here again you brought some goodies for us to look at yes as always okay let's look at one of the specimens in this case you're lucky to see this this time because I just got it from from cleaning from the lab uh-huh and I think that's the only reason why it's on display here this time look at this rutile quartz yeah and what is what is special it's not from Brazil what you probably would expect yes from Switzerland whereabouts initially and this is coming from a very very small find found by serial mom okay I don't know exactly when but I know when I was first time in Switzerland about 15 years ago it was already displayed in the museum okay I expect this pretty old so it's little old timer very nice and the rutile really sets it off yeah especially when you put some light on it great aesthetics yeah and and it's rare that you have a good quartz with the rutile normally you have repaired quartz with luteal ink you know there are many but and if having a good quartz and especially on the matrix good extremely real yep yep really good cultures love with that hmm it's the best I got so far I don't I don't blame me for bragging a little bit it's probably I would think it's from Brazil but it's from the old famous find in in McGurk Wilma you're kidding yeah and have you seen with such big no mica no it's no good if oh yeah yeah yeah every wonderful razor-sharp and set out of a peg bit tight yes I think it's pigment oh yes yeah so it's not where they find the rubies and things like you know no I don't I don't think it's the place from the roots is a different place yeah its enormous size and what I like is this yeah yes I thought it was twin but I don't I don't see it no no yeah I was very lucky to get it out of an old collection Wow y'all known on the market nowadays water-clear really something the mica helps it to it sets it off you know you see a lot of single quartz crystals but when there are matrix what makes the difference also is this mica here is just beautiful and a little help I guess wonderful I love that because of the stories it have come out of Russia because of the emeralds that were fast across tequila Kaylin can you imagine being a woodcutter walking and through the forest trying to find wood and seeing something like this in the roots of a fallen tree I can't imagine that yeah that's how they were first found and what's nice is they current occur in a mica schist so that you can remove the matrix enough to expose the crystals as that's happened here and in Russia I've seen so many crystals with just medium to low color right or my conclusions everything crew this is this is a really the real good strong green color like you would not even in Colombia most of the pieces of this color good thing and what is also there from Russia to have a nice termination if you look this multiple crystals on the top and all wonderful term all terminated yeah yeah that was that was catherine the great's favorites favorite mineral from russia she even had her horse bridle made oh yes inlaid emeralds yes that's wonderful yeah during the next I can show you a wonderful lady car huh I would love to x-ray then look at this oh well that's a beauty very sharp here yeah no face small side crystal Madagascar Madagascan is yeah very nice Cleveland ight and from this locality it's not the biggest crystal no but for for being a matrix piece it's really probably the best or one of the best that was found here yeah that's really understand yeah people don't realize that this is very similar to albeit the main difference only that L bite and this has calcite as I think many crystals in Madagascar just mix crystal between elbaite and litical yeah okay there's one final very special hook I can show you coming from the states like piece found in the 90s a rhodochrosite go sweet home sweet home yeah beautiful rock look at their statics on this one yeah yeah yeah beautifully positioned for just a little bit of quartz America's crystal sighs very good contrast to the matrix color excellent counter find that was this is coming from the clay pocket no yeah you can see there's little purple throw rights on it yeah yeah those guys doing a lot of credit for what they did up there I collected in that mine in 1957 yeah I mean we found heavily digging like they doing the new prochik now Rudy thank you well always my pleasure to see you look forward to seeing your good minerals in Munich thank you Aaron Celestion who is the curator at the LA County Museum of Natural History Aaron was kind enough to bring a really nice selection of very fine minerals here to the show at Western look and we're gonna get down and talk about those in a little bit but I want to find out about this guy I know his parents oh yeah so you must be from a family of collectors I am definitely a long lineage well well just my parents really bad time but I grew up collecting minerals yeah a gold panning going into some mines open pits and underground and it was it was a lot of fun it wasn't until high school that I really started to appreciate it yeah so that's when I started to think about majoring in geology go home there where were you living when you started collecting like that we were living in in the Phoenix area oh you are yeah so I was born raised in the Phoenix area we ended up moving onto the west side and yet a little more space and a little bit more collecting when when did you really get in involved with LA County Museum it wasn't until about three years ago so I've been at LA County now for three years and before that I was associate professor of geology at Western Kentucky University really yeah and I was while I was at Western Kentucky I was actually moving out of a teaching role I was director of the advanced materials Institute I was doing a lot of petroleum chemistry using minerals of how to figure out to break down petroleum products into more useful products and so I was moving out of that teaching role and really starting to engage in more research in development and the museum when that job came up it was a perfect opportunity to take that skill set that I had and bring it to the museum so that we can use new minerals to do new and amazing things and it's been amazing ever since so we can expect some good research to be coming out of it definitely yeah so I've worked with companies to cure a disease called hyperkalemia so we developed minerals to to do that kind of work I'm working with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at NASA and doing an astrobiology with minerals and let me figure out how bacteria live inside crystals I'm working with Oak Ridge National Lab trying to figure out how to take carbon tar from the La Brea Tar Pits and turn it into carbon fiber little for us yeah so a lot of a lot of then it's all about minerals it's all about how you use minerals to do those sorts of things yeah no you said you were working on something hype or something or other hyperkalemia so hyperkalemia is too much potassium in your bloodstream and it has very similar physical logical effects as hypertension which is too much sodium in your bloodstream okay and so what we did is we used a material I can't really tell you exactly what mineral it is because they'll probably sue me but but we use the material that selectively goes after only potassium and it goes through bloodstream absorbs potassium and will bring down potassium levels to normal within just a few minutes Oh wonderful and it uses common mineralogical processes to be able to do that you know more and more and more research is being done on the effect of trace elements and in blood and antibody because of you know we're finding out what effect they are having on organs that we didn't realize until recently exactly and I think minerals have an amazing opportunity in that regard because not much not much work has been done on trying to understand those sort of mineral human interaction kind of things we all know about how asbestos goes into your lung and causes problems that way asbestos for minerals do but there are minerals that can be helpful in that not necessarily destructive so you collect minerals you must have a favor ah it's hard to it's really hard to pinpoint because every time I go into the German mineral hall I I find a new mineral that that or I look at it differently and it I that's my favorite for the week okay but I have to say consistently zeolites are my favorite really of minerals yeah the diversity of zeolites is immense that the properties that they have is absolutely beautiful so I'd have to say consistently yeah zeolites that's surprising because you're from Arizona which is famous for its beautifully colorful lead yapper man and zeolites i don't yeah i don't know i don't really actively collect them now but i I was you know I remember some of the best times I had was in Red Cloud collecting wulfenite cloud collecting Pineda nights in southern Arizona going into the Morenci mines and collecting azurite and malachite those those minerals I have a lot of fun collect sure so I guess that's I guess that's that's true I have I have favourite minerals I'd like to collect which is our copper minerals course of southern Arizona and then I have minerals that I really like to study which is a totally different okay yeah that's a good indication of your intelligence and interest in minerals because you branch out like that that's wonderful yeah you have a favorite mineral ah let's see you sighs Eli so there I don't know I keep going back and forth but we there's this zoom it's Saru site yeah yeah I I keep coming back to and I keep wanting to take pictures of and it's it's a killer specimen we brought a couple of them with us it's obsession in general that's wonderful I love the twinning you know it's really it's gorgeous perfect yeah well now downstairs where you have the exhibit is there anything special in that that you like particularly any favorites there um let's see the epidote sigh think are very special episodes are I think I didn't because my collection I only had a few epitopes in my personal question but one like to the museum I really could see what epidote was really liking and what kind of beauty it could have and so we have some Jimmy up adults we have really great morphology epidote s-- it's a stunning collection right okay well now in the collection downstairs you've got I mean a great range of very very fine things let me ask you about one in particular I have an interest in history okay so you have a kunzite there million for George Koons that was in his collection I understand correctly yes so it's where it's amazing that it came into our collection of course it's a good historical piece that was good yeah good how about the proof study the proof site that's an interesting story nobody's seen nobody step for a long time that there has been no pictures of that prosthetic crystal I understand come on it's light-sensitive yes it's a about 35 years ago Museum decided let's get a picture of the prospectors but the photographer dropped it before he ended up getting a picture of it and it shattered into a hundred or so pieces oh yeah and so at that point in time it was just it collected all the pieces were collected and put into a box and has never been seen since good so right before the show I of coffee sizing the crew said right before the show we wanted to do something really special and we started to reconstruct that Presidio really yeah so it was painstaking it took us a probably about a month to get the major pieces together but what you see in the show down there is the first time it's ever been reconstructed in its original form and that used to be part of the Fox collection as well so it's one of the famous Fox 25 minutes okay it's one of the largest proof sites around good yeah but let me ask you about the arthur class the orthoclase is usually a sort of a dull whitish you know there's nothing exciting you've got went down there it's a gem yeah it's probably the brightest stone in the entire exhibit it is so Lemon Drop yellow kind of orthoclase it's it's extremely chubby yeah well it's a beautiful thing yeah yeah I was talking to Tony the true curator emeritus is correct I love Tony and he was a curator starting way back in the 70s yes that's right and he was telling how he stumbled across that or third place in a gem cutters shop that's right and rescued it it was gonna get act up I mean anyone who does that to a fine crystal just they're not on my goodness sorry what else in that in that even you mentioned epidote you had several epidural yeah that the nappin one epidote which has a staircase in statutory it is it is fantastic we've actually had some people that come into the museum from Austria just to come see that particular really that's right so it's world-famous that Austrians love it it's probably one of the best ones that come out of up from nap and blonde you know one of the crystals in that collection that might not catch a lot of attention is the rutile from Georgia oh yes I've never seen one that big huge crystals stacked beautifully with great luster yeah it's a wonderful specimen I know it's extremely heavy too okay yeah we try to we try to have a really well-rounded exhibit so some places from the United States and some places from from all over the world and so that one made the shortlist because it is probably one of the finest from oh I've seen a lot of that stuff nothing like that yeah how about the Kongsberg pieces oh yeah we have three Kongsberg silvers so we have of one of one that's pretty big it's about it's about that tall it's kind of a little hole in the big hook yeah we have one that we call the tornado which is pretty small but it has a really spiral wires to it and then we have one from Kongsberg that is cute that shows a cubic crystals of the silver as well and so those three together make a really nice and very sweet the two of them came from the idol collection I noticed there is a ring oh yeah this is a mineral collection little display in here it's this little tiny ring with a beautiful little yellow stone and I was right I can't even pronounce the name of the minute the mineral is named after the person who found it which was a chaw - in Burma so we named it shot to whites and the story goes is that he found it and I think about 2013 so not that long ago B he thought it was a she light to begin with and he's a gemologist and he started cutting it and he realized it had a different hardness than what he expected for she light so he sent it off to some lab and if nobody could figure out what it was and eventually came to the LA Museum where it was determined that it was a brand-new mineral species it was named in his honor and he eventually donated to the museum the interesting thing about Choya is that that ring down there is the only example of sha Chi whites in the world there is nobody else has any taught to whites and nobody's ever been able to find any more shots wait so that is the world supply and stuff yes a holla time unique no question wow so it's we wanted to bring it because because it is so incredibly incredibly unique well okay you're allowed just one yeah sneaking in there because I'm a mineral and guy I don't think much of cut stuff and what other what other specimens down there are historically important do you think offhand uh so the the fox collection is historically important so of the famous 25 right Vox pieces we have eight of them in the Natural History Museum really yes so there is the proof sites there is a gold crystal that's there what else is in the Box collection that we brought trying to run through the minerals in my head you know one of the specimens there to me is fairly common sand amethyst you know nothing to get too excited but but that parent apparently I was a really weird story about tattoos yeah amethyst what set up us so last year our museum had this tattoo exhibit which talked about the history of tattoos through time and we use parts of the museum collection to show off the different kinds of tattoos and different cultures so for gosh sakes but to bring in a little modern twist to it the museum had tattoo artists come into the museum and give live tattoos right there for everybody to see so the artist could pick whatever tattoos that they want as long as they had a Natural History theme to it oh and one of the artists chose that Guerrero amethyst and so somebody has somebody out there has this huge guerrero amethyst tattoo on their arm oh my gosh it's pretty amazing I would have never expected that no no that's that's a new one on me so Natural History Museum's are changing yeah overall my comment on what you have there's remarkable they've got great specimens lots of history marvelous crystals and well worth seeing and if anyone has any time at all in there in the LA area I insist that they go to that museum and see what they've got just to give you one insight the museum has a collection that was put together by dr. mark bandy dr. bandy was the mining engineer in Bolivia right went through a lot of history there and his collection is in the museum and some really fine things including just a couple of specimens that belong to Frederic Cagle who was the mine manager at su mente way back before 1/2 so we were good we were thinking about bringing some keggle collections estimates but it's quite a few of them are a little bit on the smaller side and so we're not a show you know things but they are historically important together yeah so that's just one thing people can look for when you get to get to the museum again you've got it any goals of course the big 13 pound nugget that was found with a metal detector crazy stuff but yeah well worth a visit so Aaron next time in LA I'm gonna be there and I hope a lot of the public is well I'm looking forward to that thank you thank you
