What You Believe About The Rapture and Why It Matters

[Music] well welcome to this edition of real life and I would like to just announce it as a special edition and for this reason when I say special it's because it's regarding a teaching that I had a chance to give to the fine people of Canada Toronto specifically and it was a conference that was put together regarding Bible prophecy and I want you to think for a moment no matter what your view may be regarding the rapture of the church stay tuned and listen in to this because throughout Scripture it is absolutely clear that there is a rapture that is to take place you can't deny the existence of the rapture the the doctrine and the advent of Christ to remove his people from the earth it's in the Bible the question comes when will it be and so I want to share with you an argument and the upcoming message that I hope causes you to think causes you to really consider what is it that the Bible is saying what is it that God would have us to experience and how are you and I to be ready for what the Bible says is the imminent really the the momentary coming of Christ for his bride and so today I'm going to take it a Colossians chapter 3 it's an unusual verse I'll give you that regarding the endtime events or the rapture of the church or what the church ought to be preparing for but turn in your Bibles if you have them to Colossians 3 verse 1 it says if then you were raised with Christ seek those things which are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God verse 2 set your mind on things above not on things of the earth verse 3 for you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God verse 4 says when Christ who is our life appears then you will appear with him in glory and that's the argument we're going to be looking at today and so very key words mark it in your Bible study today as we go through the scripture see set when then those are key statements and getting ready for Christ's return and I hope by the end of this message you'll see why the Bible really forces I believe upon the believer to be ready with our hearts and our minds in heaven while our hands and our feet are busy in this world being about our father's business so grab your Bibles Colossians chapter 3 we'll go to verses 1 through 4 but we're going to be talking about the validity and the necessity of the pre-tribulation rapture view of the church god bless you we'll see on the other side of this teaching today number one church mark it down in your notes understanding why the rapture is a biblical doctrine I wish that guy wouldn't have run out understand why the rapture is a biblical doctrine here we here we go who introduced the rapture in the New Testament to the church John chapter 14 verse 1 Jesus Christ himself John chapter 14 jesus said let not your heart be troubled you believe in God believe also in me in my father's house watch my fingers in my father's house are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you do you all agree with that he was talking on earth at the time he said it he said in my father's house are many mansions if I ask a sunday-school class of kids where is the father's house I've done this by the way every little kid in our Sunday School class goes like this they all know it Jesus says if I go to prepare a place for you where do you go Church take your finger point to where he went come on you can do it he went up the Bible says that Jesus ascended up and he went back into heaviness the Bible says heaven received him he said I'm gonna go to prepare a place for you he says in verse three and if I go to prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you to myself this is key I'm going to take you to my person isn't that beautiful I'm coming back I'm gonna scoop you up to my person watch what he does I'm gonna scoop you to my person that where I am there you may be also you cannot in any way shape or form take John 14 verses one two and three and say that there's no rapture Jesus Christ himself said I'm leaving to prepare place I'm coming back friends get your finger ready that sounded funny I'm going to receive you to myself that point to it that where I am and where is that there's there's no doubt in the father's house and the father's mansion there's no mistake in it every kid gets this Jesus said I'm coming back I'm going to take you where I've been for the last two thousand years and then there's people saying there's no rapture jesus said it the ministry of the pulpit is very clear in our day in our age the pulpit needs to get back to the Bible every pastor of every church on this in this nation and in this world they need to preach John 14 one two and three all over again well listen to that Jesus said that he's going to come back and he's going to receive us to himself what does that mean well I can tell you as a pastor teacher it means this that the messages that I teach how I study how I bring God's Word to the people it should be exactly in the anticipation of Christ's return the pulpits in America for that matter the pulpits in the world today should be ablaze with truth not apathy not with some sort of gloom or doom but we should be very excited about the Lord's return and really Christianity should exhibit that today we're closer now to meeting Jesus than ever before does that affect your life I sure hope Bibles open them up and get ready to learn from God's Word God did not give us a Bible prophecy to scare us but to prepare us but I think you're going to get a lot out of it and one of the great week you are the light of the world Jesus said you are the salt of the earth how does it happen by the power of the Holy Spirit you're going to get excited about what Jesus Christ wants to do in and free [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so listen the rapture is a biblical doctrine and Paul stressed that he was in Thessalonica for about three and a half weeks when he preached founded a church and he taught them key biblical doctrines and two of them was predestination based upon God's foreknowledge and the rapture of the church how's that Paul the Apostle first Thessalonians get ready to write him down I need you to write him down I worked really hard on this make me feel good write him down write down your shopping list if you want to just make it look like you're writing something down first Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 10 says wait for his son from heaven whom he raised from the dead even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come God's wrath coming to earth to a christ-rejecting age he's gonna judge for seven years of christ-rejecting age the Bible tells us here in 1st Thessalonians 1:10 look up Beger be watching wait 1st thessalonians 2:19 for what is our hope our joy our crown of rejoicing is it not even you and the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming chapter 3 notice all of the 5 chapters he gives an exhortation to be ready chapter 3 verse 13 first Thessalonians 3:13 so that he may establish your hearts blameless and holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints you see what Jack wait what does that mean no problem check it out Paul is speaking to a church to be ready because Christ is coming back with his Saints you know this for example do you know anyone in your family or friends that loved Jesus and died raise your hands anybody you know in heaven my mom's in heaven my dad's in heaven my sisters in heaven and the moment that they died what does the Bible say to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord the moment my mom died she immediately went to Jeep my mom's last words that came out of her mouth was I quote what's taking him so long and she died my mom had been a lifelong Catholic born in Hawaii for years old parents were killed she was raised in a Catholic orphanage in Honolulu and she didn't know anything about the Bible and all of her life she didn't know anything about the Bible and then her son gets saved I'm preaching to my family they think I'm nuts God's moving God is all kinds of mazing things and my mom's got cancer and all of this stuff's going on and I've been praying to my mom I sure that Jesus film you know the same film that a mere song got saved I showed my mom that film and she said I don't understand I've been praying to Mary every day that she had healed me because my mom had cancer she was riddled with cancer and I said mom Mary's awesome but she can't do anything for you she can't she what do I do I say you need to accept Jesus you saw the movie just now she she crawled out of her bed and she got on her knees and she she accepted Christ four weeks later she died her last words on her bed what's taking him so long I love it that should be our word what's taking him so long I mean let's be honest if Jesus waits any longer it's not going to be a surprise I mean any day anytime now it's a biblical doctrine get excited about it the Bible is all up to that it's there and listen my mom is going to come back with Jesus on the atmosphere the dead listen the Bible says the dead in Christ will rise you see well wait a minute where is she is she dead or she alive oh she's alive in heaven with him but her body is in Forest Lawn actually her no my sister's bodies from my mom's bodies floating around somewhere in the Pacific listen he's going to call the dead up and out of the water and up and out of the grave and the Bible tells us that the Dead will rise first listen then we her library may shall be caught up to meet them in the air listen and we forever will be with the Lord what's what's wrong with this story this is the greatest thing outside of salvation this is the blessing oh it is absolutely awesome and you say well that's kind of weird I mean you believe Jesus come back today yeah I thought it's gonna come back yesterday and I'm hoping he comes back today I'm not joking I'm not saying this because I'm up here I mean it the more you meditate read on the Word of God and pray and consider what the Bible says about heaven listen Toronto I got to tell you first time I've been here is beautiful this is a beautiful place as beautiful as it is I want out of here listen look it up Chino Hills where I live it's paradise right in Southern California don't tell anybody it's awesome we don't anybody else there but I want out of there heaven awaits us it's a promise that he's made to his bride 1st Thessalonians 4 beginning at verse 14 I read it or quoted to you a moment ago for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again do you even so God will bring with him those who sleep or the word is not sleep that they're sleeping it's the reference to their body their bodies are in the grave in Jesus for this they say to you somebody will say to you Paul the Apostle said we say to you this is the famous we statements of Paul theologically they're a great argument we say to you by the word of the Lord that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have died that is died in Jesus for the Lord Himself will descend watch this next slide from heaven with a shout with the voice of the Archangel in the truck and the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ will rise first listen to him then we who are alive and remain said the Apostle was Paul expecting a rapture in his lifetime absolutely then we who remain shall be caught up there's the word her pods oh and Greek rapture latin caught up violently removed upward together with them in the clouds who sounds like John 14 to me to meet the Lord in the air and the swoosh we shall always be with the Lord therefore freak out bite your fingernails and go nuts over this stuff verse 18 you're supposed to come for one another with this stuff all this should be exciting so I'm not excited about Jesus coming back why are you Christian yep then why are you not why are you not excited if you're not excited about Jesus coming back and you're Christian that means that means you're not ready you need to get ready you need to get ready chapter 5 first Thessalonians 5:9 for God did not appoint us to wrath boom right there but to attain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ you can't give more clearly 1st Thessalonians 5:9 you will not be punished for your sins during the tribulation period you know why your sins were punished we're on the count of three say the Cross loud one two three what do you think he was doing there he was taking all the jacks in God the Father placed upon Jesus all my sin God whose eternal he cannot learn anything he's omniscient all-knowing he knew before I was ever born that I would be conceived in sin that I'd be a sinner when I came out of my mom I'd be a sinner all my life and the day of my death would be the only day that I depart from this body and I'm liberated the only caveat to that is if the Lord comes back in my lifetime I hope today I will be talking to you or we'll be having lunch or whatever how cool that be and all of a sudden I guess all of our pants and or laying around the table I guess I mean I paid a lot of money for this shirt I'd like to take it with me but it's not necessary I won't need it a change number to understand why the rapture is the believers hope it's the believers hope we started with that verse looking for the Blessed hope it's a blessed hope and the glorious appearing yeah look if you're a Java witness in here today somebody get ready to catch them they're gonna faint you cannot in any way shape or form take away from this verse of scripture that declares the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ our Jehovah Witness friends say Jesus is not God my friend Titus 2:13 is one of the strongest arguments looking for the Blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ Wow he's coming back for us the rapture was is and will always be the believers great hope until it happens remarkable great promise second Timothy chapter 4 verse 6 second Timothy 4:6 tells us for I am already being poured out says the Apostle this is to me I'm one of the most remarkable things letting us inside of Paul's heart by the way he's old now you know he's old he is probably tired he's been arrested he's in Rome for the last time this is it he's gonna lose his head now his head cut off Paul the Apostle and he knows it and this is what he writes listen when somebody writes to you the last things that they're gonna say before they die you better listen you take that seriously I don't know how you do it in Canada but it's a big deal for us down home that we all have living trusts you know living trust is you guys have that I got that I got that baby written up years ago why because it allows me to talk to my family after I'm dead you I'm talking about nobody can spend a dime or do anything stupid but the money God's giving me because when after I'm dead I've got an order on how it goes who to go and how it goes to what and where and if you goof up walking with Jesus you ain't gonna get nothin God gave me a blessing and I'm not gonna leave it to some lunatic kid know that there's this a prerequisite if God blesses obedience then Jack will bless your obedience too kid what's the power of that even though I'm gone I can speak look what Paul writes for I am already being poured out as a drink offering in other words I'm gonna die and the time of my departure is at hand I love that the time of my departure Paul what flight are you on Delta 395 Wow I have fought the good fight notice now he switches to the past tense remarkable this is the one and only time Paul does it I have means I'm done but the good fight I have finished the race that means he's past the tape he's in the winner's circle he's in a Roman prison but he's already won are you with me this is awesome Christian that's an awesome Christian life OPA pastor I'm hooked up to a chemotherapy unit my kidneys are failing listen are you in Christ Jesus are you looking to Jesus are you trusting Jesus are you loving on Jesus no matter what he decides to do with your body yes you're already in the victor Circle this is your body sick when my mom died her spirit wasn't dying to cancer her body was dying to cancer this body's got to go somewhere think about it you can't the Bible says you can't take this body into heaven it's got to be changed you'd be if they're stinking the place up listen it's true it's true how much cologne did you put on today to come here how much for film did you use the odorant you know why you're dying we're all dying and the older you get you have to buy more perfume and cologne because you use more of it that's why it's just it's the way it is this body can't go there it's got to be changed it's got to be fixed and so he says in verse eight finally there's a laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge will give me on that day but not only me but also all who have loved first time last time Paul never said in the past tense Paul says I love God you love God and then he comes to that mammer King prison in Rome and it's the one and only time when he says that said I was hoping for the Lord had taken me up but that's not going to happen I'm gonna lose my head but then again I'm gonna get a crown of righteousness remember that and he's gonna give it to all those who have loved his appearing when you come listen if you don't get raptured if you and I you do do not get caught up we're gonna die just remember that verse if Isis were to grab you by the shoulders and say we're gonna cut your head off go ahead clean just do it clean don't dilly-dally around-- sharpen that baby and let it go don't use a butter knife they you know they wanted to do that with paul we're gonna kill you Paul says well to die is Christ so what are you happy about that motor dies Christ it's just all I'm saying well then we're gonna let you live well to live as Christ well no no no wait they were gonna kill you to die his game you can't stop somebody like that in the meantime be looking up and then be inserting Jesus in every part of your life and I don't listen no not all of you are outgoing listen did you know Jesus died for your sins he didn't die for your personality so he didn't make a mistake you know how some of you are quiet so well hope will help him God use me I'm quiet oh he can use you he made your personality use it do you like to write notes then start writing do you like to just whatever I don't care what it is you are the Church of the Living God every single one of you have got an amazing call upon your life listen I promise you this if you're born again God has given you at least one gift of the Holy Spirit to use in the body of Christ at least one are you using it have you asked him to show you he wants to use you and we're running out of time think about it he could come back any moment I'm another day older than I was yesterday the clock is ticking time is fleeting look how close we are to heaven even if all of us died of old age look how close we are right won't be long won't be long remarkable it's the believers hope number three understand why the rapture is the great motivator I love this there's this very personal for me I cannot write down this point without a certain thought in my mind understanding why the rapture for you as a believer ought to be a great motivator motivator for a lot of things I have great opportunities I have for many 15 years now to be working with various legislators and powers in Washington DC and I listen I knew Mike Pence when nobody knew Mike Pence Mike Pence is the real deal you know timeout vice-president us loves God big deal amazing guy he's the real deal I got to tell you something but I'm on a board of a particular ministry nationally in the US and almost everybody not everybody everybody on that board has a certain theological view that the president of that board and and I do not have but we tolerate each other for the common good okay you're with me and so these guys when I was introduced to the board the these guys said wait a minute don't don't you uh aren't you premillennial premillennial I said yes I am thank you very much yes and then one guy said wait a minute how are you going to be involved with us to promote Christian worldview values in Washington DC when you believe in the rapture and I said dude listen we need to have coffee because I don't get that yet I didn't get that one he goes every every Christian I've known that believes in the rapture never gets involved in anything because they think Jesus coming back tomorrow and so you just sit around and twiddle your thumbs and I said listen I got kids I got grandkids on top of the fact I don't know if Jesus coming back tonight or tomorrow it could be three weeks or it could be nine months from now the point is I'm supposed to live righteously now and because Jesus is coming back I want to get caught living righteously [Music] well listen we're gonna pick it up next time in our message and I really hope that you just let other people know that we're going through the Bible on these issues and this is a very very hot topic as you can imagine people want to argue about the rapture is there a rapture again we clearly understand there is but most importantly when will it be and I think the arguments gonna be well made in our in our teachings together that it could happen at any time so listen we want to
