What Would Your Kid Do: SERIES 2 - Episode 1 (Part 1)

[Applause] that provides a unique fly on the wall' insight into how little parents know about their kids tonight we're be joined by three families the grown-ups will be staying here with me in the studio to see what happens when their kids are transported to a school rigged with hidden cameras the kids think there are for a regular day at school but we're actually gonna be secretly watching them so that we can see how well their families know them by asking one very simple question what would your kid do shall we meet the kids please give a warm welcome to Evie [Applause] broccoli we'll start with you dear hello how are you good good where you come from - the idea Preston love it and who've you brought with you my mom I'm like that your mom and your dad / - introduce yourself guys Divya I'm Adriene I'm Adriene nice to meet ya what a mom and dad do dear well my dad said driving instructor oh okay my mom something international something international spy spy in the world has been blown there Divya what do you do for a living I'm an international trade advisor well I can see why a child would say spy just to make you sound more interesting I guess apparently you're quite good at cleaning it up though you're quite a good cleaner well clean it when people are coming oh boy [Laughter] I mean yeah I can solely understand that there is that so the house is just just a mess all the time and then someone's coming and it's a quick panic tidy let's move on serese hello Reese why are you from just outside Edinburgh who have you come down with today my granny shadow a wonder they're not around even go rascals on the way to school to be looked after by brilliant primary school teachers those absolute sights who put right what we did wrong in the first four years of that child's life so for the kids it's just a regular day at school but to you grown-ups you have got lessons of your own tonight because remember it's not about whether the kids are good or bad or right or wrong it's about how well you can predict what they'll do whoever most accurately predicts their child's behavior will get to play for some amazing family prizes at the end of the show right it's time now for our first visit to the school where the kids are in home economics class let's have a look [Music] this lesson is about healthy eating my mom she never eats I think my dad still TT over chocolate life is all about getting your fair share so I've got some lovely fruits to bring around out there a really healthy joint to do some tasting yeah yeah especially when you're seven years old [Music] no more of that one kids at this age have a heightened sense of injustice [Music] more so if they personally feel that they have been treated unfairly so to see how the kids react to injustice the teacher is set up a little experiment masquerading as treat time hello Alfie has been helping me with the frozen yogurt so do you want to do the sprinkles out of it okay so should we do Alfie's first all you've got to do let's put your pot of yogurt underneath that pipe they can you see the big red button just press that once plenty of sprinkles should come out hold it tight under the pipe [Music] that's low - sprinkles looks like nothing after you help you that yeah you can go back to the other classroom now if you go I'm gonna get some spoons we're back in two minutes you can do your sprinkles just one press on the button okay but what dear Evie and Rhys don't know is now when it comes to their turn the machine is going to give them less than their fair share so will the kids accept this injustice or press the button more than once [Music] so the kids they've seen another child get far more sprinkles than they did with the teacher now out of the room I want to know what would your kid do will they press the button a second time to get more sprinkles families lock in your answers racin you think he's definitely gonna press it definitely he thinks someone else is getting more than him I'd been surprised if you pressed it more than once okay let's find out just how well you know your kids just one press on the button okay [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] I know what's again [Applause] [Music] okay I only wonder many when Gregor how many times Hodgins tough my once just the wounds come on then and no idea what happened [Music] the look on Evie's face never heard anyone say OMG absolutely spot-on and recent lots of sprinkles for each do so and this Paris you were absolutely right about there so all our kids press the button again but don't worry parents boffins say that strong the sense of fairness in kids is linked to normal cognitive development so breaking the rules on this occasion might be okay also sprinkles are really nice after that you're all off to a flying start with one point each now it's back to school where the kids are joined by a learning aid take a look when you're seven years old there is always something exciting around the corner I've got something a little bit special and it's our new learning device hello I'm Cara your classroom automated research assistant hi dear I like your flower today curious animals [Music] this animal is called an axolotl and is commonly referred to as a working fish [Applause] well so they got on there I've got a weird science lesson on there there's no time to be playing fast boss now okay maybe in another Western resisting the temptation to do something fun takes self-control which experts say is one of the last skills to fully develop in the brain I have definitely been to do a lots of things wrong what about you Evie who would be easily tempted in your family probably that would because sometimes when mums upstairs on the Tyler are doing something that usually goes in the cupboard for a biscuit we're gonna be shutting car down no goodbye everyone with class over dear alien Reese think they're helping the teacher tidy up can you just finish tidying up the chairs for me don't touch the button Oh press stop to find out how good you are at blessing bull when tempted with the ultimate dansgame yes I'm stuck in the chair from the start on us while we help us will they press the button to get their floss on [Music] the kids have seen the floss machine and now the teacher is out of the room will your child give into temptation and use it let's lock in your answers so two yeses in an O so you think Evie will not press the bun she loves to floss I think if she's been told don't press it then she won't press it okay let's go boy well I don't mean to question your judgment Clare but even your own husband sneaks for a biscuit you think deal will push the button as well yes definitely she enjoys dancing so she will press the button and also when dear was at reception everyone has to tidy up and deal we used to go and hide maybe because there was nobody coming around [Laughter] tareka only Evie's parents think their kid won't push the button to floss let's find out how well you know your kids don't touch the button long press stop to find out how good you are at flossing are you good at flossing yeah to find out how good you are at winner winner when I was tidying up the chest just one small yeah did I say you could know so you certainly know your party animal there recess another point for you and Evie did eventually floss so no points to you guys are you surprised I am actually yeah and dear yeah temptation or should do it in the end yeah well another point for you so well Doug plotting frenzy let's see what it's done to the scores Evie's family still on one points for recent Diaz family in the lead with two next up we're gonna find out just how honest our kids really are let's have a look hi guys just find a chair and sit down the kids are in drama class today you are all going to become superheroes Evie pop your cape in your mouth listen match your clothes Evy what's your superhero name blue electric and what's your superpower there's like a bad guy a pin and put blue electric around them and what happens to him what if superheroes need to be dere they need to be saving people and they need to be helpful it is good two hours there's one quality that no one's mentioned superheroes always have to tell her it's good to each other Chris because he that's something bad and he tell her why you get loads of trouble but if he told the truth it was getting a wee teeny bit of trouble by the age of seven children struggle between being honest and lying they recognize that you should tell the truth but will still lie if it gets them what they want it's bad to to tell a lie and I don't want to be bad hello so to find out whether dear avian reefs are flexible with the truth we have sets up a little superhero challenge I'm glad you've come because I need someone to help me rescue my cat you need to wind your way around all these obstacles get the cat wined your way back around the obstacle course in under one minute do you think you can use it if you can do that you shall win a super cool super hero medal now the only thing I didn't tell you is you're gonna do it blindfold but what the kids don't know is that we've given them a faulty blindfold allowing them to see everything and letting those test how honest they really are there's something oh my gosh so when I say go you need to pull it down remember you're not able to see anything okay it's done here for me so when questioned by the teacher will our little superheroes be super honest and admit they can see their way through the whole obstacle course three two one go or not my favorite superpower if I could have anything would be to make sure people out their money ready at the supermarket checkout it's the one so the kids have been given a blindfold that they can see straight through and been tasked with the mission of rescuing the cat will your child be honest and tell the teacher that they can see through the blindfold families let's lock in your answers we think yes yes and a no so dear you think she will actually tell a lie if she can get away with it and she will do trance yeah sneaked little white lies Rhys you think you'll be honest why I think as soon as he puts it on he'll see I can see through this he's not because he actually wants to do the challenge properly there's something about no no that's probably just because Rhys thinks that he's got one up on the teacher you think you'll be honest too after the last one I'm really not so sure I think she would maybe eventually yes Claire you look like you're questioning everything so let's have a quick recap we're saying that Evie and Rhys we'll both tell the truth but deer will lie about the blindfold okay let's see if you're right three two one go watch where you go in carefully does it watch where you go in you are my superhero [Music] Wow how did you manage that fantastic yeah you couldn't see through it at all could you know that there's gaps but what does that mean sir I thought they could see you could see through it yeah [Music] it's very bad yes you've clearly got superpowers who you I can Sisera are you joking me it's just like blow but simmer thank you for being honest right I shall watch you go off into the sunset here farewell [Applause] [Laughter] well even told a little white lie so no boys for you guys on this occasion feel devastating and dear she proved you wrong as well she told the teacher she could see through it pleasantly surprised yes she's never so honest with us and Rhys just old man we said
