previously on tokyo zebra turkey the smallest one was 6.4 so that's what i got yeah and the milk bread [Laughter] hello everyone hello [Music] so we are up early this morning getting ready oh that's a cow so we are up early this morning and we are getting ready for thanksgiving um we're gonna have a few friends and friends over and close enough to be family we're kind of excited for this because you know we get to have some friends over that are wolfy's age so we get to see them play together and you know just interact with kids his own age which is pretty cool could be kind of a hectic morning to get ready but you know we're ready for this thank you everyone for joining us we are going to do this so let's have thanksgiving wolfie you ready yeah [Music] how does it look michael pretty good smells good oh turkey i love you so much tastes good for us so michael spent all morning preparing the turkey what are you doing now i am riding jerky in fact she started the briding process the day before this year we got a 14 pound turkey which is the biggest i would fit in our japanese refrigerator and tiny japanese microwave slash [Music] what's happening oh i'm trying to point it down and we had a little trouble cooling down the brine but that's okay so michael used a pretty basic recipe with oranges rosemary chicken stock and lots of vegetables oh and the butter it's infused with lemon and garlic the turkey itself is stuffed with onion sage and lemon it's not even cooked yet but it already smells like heaven [Music] because of kovid we haven't had the chance to have a group of friends over to the place in fact we really haven't had many people over at all i would say since covet but also ever to our place since we moved so this year's thanksgiving is kind of a celebration on two fronts one celebrating family and friendships through this difficult last year and two trying to share my american culture here in japan and make somewhat of a tradition for my family and friends yeah thanksgiving is not really that celebrated here in japan this is gonna be the first time we're inviting a group of friends over [Music] so i just burnt my hand trying to put the turkey in the oven basically the oven has a little like rotating table and it was like spinning so i tried to grab a tray from the tabletop here apparently it was really hot it's all good though [Music] and here we go our first guest has arrived to see you how are you good good that's newton he's been one of my longest friends here in tokyo if you're an old school fan of the power from tokyo channel then you've definitely seen him before as he's appeared in some of my earliest videos happy thanksgiving this is otis his wife sarah and the three-year-old boy quincy [Music] happy thanksgiving oh that's tomo and his family we actually got our baby from him as his kids eva and tommy used it when they were babies [Music] oh and that's pat we play a lot of basketball together he's also been in a couple of my videos i have a small oven last time there was so almost everybody that we've invited is here except for michael's friends aichan and mariko who you probably also saw in previous tokyo zebra videos it's around 12 30 now the food is ready and the kids are getting a bit hungry so i think we're gonna have to start without them [Music] thank you for coming to thanksgiving this year [Music] here comes michael's friends [Music] so the turkey has a little more color than we expected but despite the facade it was actually super tender and moist on the inside but do let us know in the comments if you guys have any personal recipe recommendations our plan is to improve our recipe over the next few years anyways food is one of the highlights of any thanksgiving gathering and so everyone brought something to share oh man so much food love i don't even know where to start get time get there get there you love stream too yeah this is another one ah never thought i'd have so many kids in this room like this it's cool that they're all within a few years of each other i really never thought i'd have so many friends with kids around wolfy's age so this is what it's all about thanksgiving whatever the history for us in japan it means being able to get together with family and friends to share a meal and a few laughs despite everything that's going on in our lives i've said it a few times now but it really has been a tough year which is why celebrations like these are even more important all right thank you guys everyone for coming around it's really cool just to be able to spend time with family friends and you know just cool to see all these like little ones grow up so cheers to everyone thank you for coming and hopefully we can do this again next year cheers jesus [Music] cheers even though my family is not here in japan seeing everyone like this kind of feels like home i really do hope that we can continue on with this tradition and see how all the kids grow up [Music] oh look at that even though wolfie doesn't have a brother or sister or even a cousin here it kind of has that feel what a cool way to end the day [Music] all right so we're going to end it here thank you guys so much for joining this thanksgiving event if you guys want to see more videos like this or just anything related to our family and what we do hit that subscribe button and the bell button and we'll catch you guys in the next one
