Barry J Sanders the son of the man the M the legend himself Barry Sanders did one of the most unexpected things anybody's ever seen and this is where ladies and gentlemen things start to get really and I mean really interesting in our story so you better lock in this is Barry Sanders one of the most elusive fastest and overall greatest running backs of all time I could sit up here not just for minutes but for hours ranting and raving and hyping up Sanders but I think his game and overall numbers do that for himself he ranks fourth all time in the NFL rushing alltime leader list with 15,26 rushing yards that's not too shabby if I have to say so myself obviously I'm being sarcastic that's fantastic he was an outstanding running back and a lot of people thought he had some juice left in the tank his retirement caught many people by surprise a lot of people hated him for it but that is a different conversation for a different day what we're here to talk about and focus on in today's video is how unreal of a running back he was take a look at these highlights the way he could Juke out people switch Direction within the blink of an eye it was something we've never seen before there was multiple times where guys would just straight up whiff I'm talking about not even get a finger on them he might be the hardest running back to actually tackle and get on the ground I mean look at this run right here his quick twitch abilities were on a whole another level oh wait a minute my apologies there's one big problem with this the video footage I've shown you up until this point is not Barry Sanders yeah that's right you heard me correctly you've been baned Boozled by your boy Matt these aren't Barry Sanders highlights these are Barry Sanders Jor highlights this was his son and very much like his father he was a beast that nobody and I mean absolutely nobody wanted a piece of ironically enough though I guess he also got this from his father you look up Barry Sanders Jr is nowhere to be found and he has essentially disappeared I'd argue and say that Barry Sanders Jr story is just as intriguing as his father's cuz what's so captivating about it is coming out of high school Sanders Jor was regarded as one of the best running backs in the nation he was a four-star recruit and had an overall Scout grade on a scale of 0 to 100 a 95 you see the highlights he was a carbon copy paste of his father he was no slouch not even to the slightest of bits almost every school in the country wanted him I know I sound like a broken record player here but yet again similar to his father everybody was left in the dark and they wanted to know where did Barry Sanders Jr go there's many more questions people been asking about this guy even till this day but however it all circles back to the one and I mean the one big question we're going to try to get to the bottom of in today's video what really happened to Barry J Sanders ladies and gentlemen boys and girls hope all you're having a great and fantastic day if not hope this video can make it a little bit better and major shout out to not bama prods we finally got a new comment and a new recommendation and this is from no other than sir lanceor 35 he writes suggestion can you do a video on what happened with Barry J Sanders the son of Barry Sanders and yes we can thank you thank you for recommending this video brother hope you enjoyed and also everyone else on here hope you enjoyed as well as soon as I saw that comment it intrigued myself I like wait a minute what did happen to Barry J Sanders so I bumped it up to Priority number one I also realized I caught on Barry Sanders Jr in the intro almost at least 10 times I do apologize for that his name is Barry J Sanders I say it's not his name but there's a lot of people that do refer to him as Barry Sanders Jr as well so that's why I was saying both of them when he was coming up in high school I remember people referring to him as Barry Sanders Jr so I think either one should be AOK I do like to get people's names right and from what I've seen and you'll see later in this video I think he prefers Barry J Sanders over Barry Sanders Jr and if you're sitting here wondering Matt would you just shut the crap up and continue with the video it's not that big of a deal I disagree because a man's name it is a big deal you want to get it right all jber Jer enough though if you have any recommendations leave a comment down below strap and buck upub get your snack get your popcorn get your family like to you when you watch the video CU trust me I do the same thing but all right BL let's get it do it w man oh man we got good old Barry J Sanders and come on man you already know to get into his story we got to throw it all the way back to where things started Mr Barry J Sanders played his high school football for Heritage Hall High School which is located in Oklahoma City Oklahoma unlike your stereotypical freshman he didn't waste any time whatsoever and he was already making an immediate impact for his team team in the year of 2008 as a ninth grader he helped lead his team to a state championship in which he had 242 rushing yards that season in 12 touchdowns how about that most freshman at the high school level they're nervous they're kind of skittish they may even be shy and they're not ready for the bright lights on Friday night for a varsity football team I guess somebody forgot to send that memo to this young man cuz number one he didn't even look like a freshman he was playing like a junior senior number two he didn't look nervous to the slightest of bits fast forign time into his sophomore season which was his 10th grade year he was even better you see this gray bar at the very bottom of your screen that is the national average the blue bar is Barry J Sanders he had 1,230 rushing yards average 8.48 yards per carry had 153.7 yards per game and 19 total touchdowns pretty good pretty good I think we can all agree on that but his junior year was even more ridiculous he averaged over 14 yards per carry I'm going to say that again over for 14 yards per carry utterly ridiculous right at 190 yards per game with 18 total touchdowns of course if he did that as a junior you don't really need me to sit up here and tell you he dominated as a senior it was a carbon copy paste by this point in time in his high school career he already solidified himself as one of the best running backs not just in his state but in the entire nation according to 247 Sports he was a four-star recruit and had an overall Scout grade of 95 goes out being said a lot of schools wanted him number one he was really good and number two he was the son of Barry Sanders there was some speculation that he might go to Oklahoma State but he didn't he decided to commit and sign with Stanford and this is where ladies and gentlemen things start to get really and I mean really interesting in our story so you better lock in before we go any further I have to share this with you I don't want you to view Stanford as their current form and I'm talking about how they look right now in 2024 Barry Sanders was in the class of 2012 this is when Stanford was one of the best teams in the nation or maybe not one of the best teams that was a stretch but they was easily a top 10 top 15 Team every single year so it seemed like at first glance this was a good fit Barry Sanders really great prospecting football player Stanford really great program however how do I say this nicely here things didn't necessarily go smooth at Stanford he arrives on campus in the season of 2012 there's nothing to say whatsoever he red shirted fast forward in time into the year of 2013 he plays but it's not a lot only had five carries for 42 yards and one touchdown yet again not too much to say there and if I can keep things short and simple that's what I like to do heading into 2014 though he played in all 13 games which was his sophomore season red shirt sophomore season at that he had 59 carries for 315 yards didn't have a touchdown but he had decent amount of carries and yards there but still with that being said eh you get the Vibes here not too much to be said about it of course at this point in time going to the NFL is not option so he comes back for his redirt junior year which was in 2015 there's good and bad news for this 2015 season which one do you want first let's start off with the good news first good news is bar J Sanders was the backup running back so he was going to get a decent amount of carries bad news is the starter went by the name of Christian McCaffrey yeah you kind of can put two and two together here not a recipe for Success why because Christian mcaffrey was that dude it seems like even till this day mcaffrey doesn't get tired he is a running back who can play every down a lot of times in college you'll have a bruising running back you'll have a Speed Demon or specialist running back but mcaffry was all that combined or also another one I'm missing is you'll have a blocking running back like I was saying though mcaffrey he could do everything and anything you wanted a running back to do so unfortunately just due to how unreal mcaffrey was Barry J Sanders didn't get that many opportunities that year granted mcaffrey was younger than him but also mcaffry was the better football player so he played more ironically enough when I was gathering information for this video I happen to stumble across this McCaffrey wound up breaking Barry Sanders record for most allpurpose yards in a season I just thought that was unique how he broke Barry J Sanders father's record while they were on the same team together anyways continuing along here it's not like Barry Sanders was a slouch just didn't help that you had mcrafty ahead of him for example against Oregon state that year mcaffrey had 30 carries for 206 yards but Sanders had seven carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns I think this box score right here it Paints the picture perfectly he could play just had a better guy in front of him and who knows man this is a huge Butterfly Effect we're about to get into here if mcaffrey never goes to Stanford and Barry J Sanders is the guy that year for Stanford in my humble opinion I think his draft stock would have improved immensely you hate to look at it that way because you don't want to blame Sanders lack of success due to McCaffrey's but that's sort of the reality of the situation or at least how I view it the rest of the season for Stanford he was all right and that 2015 year was weirdly enough a carbon copy pace of 2014 actually had l carries had the same amount of yards and increases touchdowns from zero to four but here's where the problems start to arise for Barry J Sanders at this point of time in his career in our story the 2015 season it's over it's wraps but he knows mcaffry is coming back for that next year in 2016 and as you can see from this box score here and I think we'd all be in the same boat here he does not want to have another year of being the backup running back it didn't matter who you were if you have mcaffry in front of you you weren't going to play much I think Barry J Sanders being a realist and looking at this with common sense he thought the same thing he said you know what it's not that I don't like Stanford it's more so of I want an opportunity elsewhere and that's what I'm going to do so I'm leaving and that's what he did Barry Sanders decides to leave Stanford at the time the transfer portal wasn't into effect however he was a graduate senior so he could leave without penalty this is where Barry J Sanders winds up transferring to you want to take a guess where I'll give you a second he transferred to where his dad went Oklahoma State no need to talk about this too much and act like it doesn't make any sense because it does we know why he went there played his high school football in the state of Oklahoma and it's his dad's Alma Mo oh wait a minute I said he wind up leaving to transfer to Oklahoma State as a graduate senior the specific term here is actually graduate transfer so my apologies on that anyways getting back on track here he gets to All State there's a lot of hype around him for obvious reasons unfortunately I hate to be the bear bad news he didn't do too much probably the highlight of his career and actually remember watching this was he had a really good pun return right to the one yard line and he almost scored on it outside of that he didn't do anything that year he didn't even have over a 100 rushing yards if you do want to see his exact numbers and stats here had 28 carries for 93 yards with two touchdowns he did return some punts and kicks here and there but outside that one cool return he had not too much to say at Oklahoma State that year it was somewhat disappointing because you wanted to have that Cinderella story where the son of Barry Sanders goes out there and balls out has over, 1500 rushing ORS in 20 touchdowns and that just didn't happen and now everybody's wondering well what's he going to do next cuz remember this was his senior year he had no choice but to declare for the NFL draft if he wanted to continue to play football however he didn't do that Barry J Sanders the son of the man the M the legend himself Barry Sanders did one of the most unexpected things anybody's ever seen when his time came to an end at Oklahoma State in the year 2016 he accepted a marketing job with the video game company that goes by the name of you should be familiar with them Electronic Arts in other terms here he joined EA Sports everybody's like wait what Barry J Sanders the Barry Sanders Jr is quitting football to work for EA Sports what's going on everybody was asking about it and he straight up told him yeah I'm not going to the NFL and I have no plans of even trying to pursue professional football in other terms here he wasn't going to the NFL CFL usfl XFL you name it he wasn't going to it he accepted that job in 2016 it's 2024 so I know what you may be sitting here saying well Matt what's he doing now and my friend he is still doing that he is still currently working for EA Sports if you want to find out more about him I'm not going to go through every picture because you can do it yourself but he's extremely active on Instagram as well and here's a picture of him golfing and I think that's awesome because I also like to golf he looks great he's in really good shape and it looks like he's having a grand time at least according to his Instagram pictures but as we all know social media is fake or if you don't know now you do but I like to assume here just going off of what I've seen and heard Barry J Sanders he's living a very good life and he's enjoying it and you should he just looks like a cool dude to hang out with for example go golfing with watch a football game with do anything with look I get it you're probably looking for some mysterious aspect to his life but there's nothing mysterious about it whatsoever it's not an unsolved mystery like some of the other videos we've done we know where he's at and what he's doing like I said started working for him in 2016 and he still works for him till this day when I say them talking about EA Sports by the way Electronic Arts I'm still kind of salty y'all didn't invite me out to play the college football game early but that's a different conversation for a different day oh wait a minute wait a minute this is a good opportunity Barry J Sanders if you're somehow someway seeing this video can we make that happen next year hit me up in the DMS brother on a serious note here to Barry J Sanders if you are somehow someway in this video wishing the best of luck my brother looks like you're having a great time I hope you continue to live your best life and I'm wishing you a ton of success in anything and everything you choose to do moving forward let's answer the two questions we always ask at the end of this video number one is Barry J Sanders a winner or a loser to me I'm most certainly labeling him as a winner just because you don't make it to the NFL just cuz you don't want to continue trying to grind and get to the NFL that does not make you a loser as long as you're working towards something and you're working hard to become the best version of yourself every single day in my book it may be different for you but in my book year winner secondly the other million dollar question we got to ask is Why didn't it work out for Barry J Sanders I'm going to go back to these Stanford days and as athletes this is common if you are a a current athlete or B A former athlete you might have felt this at some point when you're not playing as much as you feel like you should be playing you do get discouraged and you start to question yourself like dang am I even good enough to continue to play this sport where that's at the Middle School High School JV or Collegiate level the the doubt starts to creep in and I really think with him not playing a lot at Stanford due to mcaffry being there and also going to Oklahoma State and still having less than 100 rushing yards he started to tell himself you know what maybe football is not for me and I want to do something else and there's nothing wrong with that at all I'm just trying to answer the question of why didn't work out and I think that's what happened he more than likely got discouraged that's the only thing I can assume and to go on top of that I'm just spitball in here he might have fell in love with the game of football that happens too It's a Grind man it is an absolute grind and trust me when I say this I think sports are amazing and I think everybody at some level at some point in time in their life should play a sport because it teaches you a lot of lessons about life I say that to say this though I love sports more than anybody else or as much as anybody else and even I'll be the first person to tell you they're not everything there's more to life although it's hard for me to believe that sometimes as much as I love to compete there is more to life than basketball football water polo lacrosse golf pickle ball ping pong etc etc I could go on and on there's many more things I could say wondered out there let me know your thoughts down below but Ro
