mechanic on fast and loud and though the show was successful and aaron was gaining mass popularity aaron surprisingly left the show at its peak gas monkey garage located in dallas texas is famous for being the home of the discovery channel series fast and loud the show follows the team of mechanics and fabricators as they fix up old cars and produce new works of automotive art aaron kaufman was the beloved star mechanic who was richard rawlings right-hand man he began working at gas monkey long before it became a famous worldwide tv show yep it was kauffman's creations that often caught the eye decided you were gonna do this you just kind of started grabbing sticks and putting crab together it was crazy fast and loud ended after the 16th season in 2020 however rawlings has been working garage in 2017. many viewers were upset to see him go and there was a lot of speculation around why he left in the first place although the answer seemed straightforward nothing happens in fast and loud without a little drama apparently kaufman was not the only gas monkey to leave the garage two other crew members tom smith and jordan butler left the show after a fallout with rollings the conflict arose from a dispute over a fan and one of rawling's precious cars smith has since gone on record to declare that he and butler left after a fan with cystic fibrosis approach the garage to take some photos with one of rawlings rides a rolls-royce to be specific when the manager on duty at the time saw this they were told to get the f away from the car taken back by the rudeness smith interview with art of gears aaron shared everything about why he chose to leave the show and the garage as a whole i wanted to build cars that were big or better and then tv needed cars that were much smaller than that on top of that there were some growing personal issues and professional differences of opinions and so i decided the time had come and i could see the fork in front of me it seems like aaron kaufman quit fast and loud because of creative differences with owner richard rawlings his approach to fixing up vintage cars apparently bought cheap on the street kauffman wanted to have more flexibility regarding the cars he could work on while kaufman left gas monkey garage in 2016 his leaving wasn't screened on fast and loud until 2017. it was an emotional scene between kaufman and his boss mentor and friend richard rawlings despite emotions kaufman was seen to try another approach to car modifications he needed to start on his own for a while and we've been building cars we've been really busy there's definitely some a different direction i want to go and and here i just can't i can't do both and because we build so much we built so fast it absorbs every second of my time so i really i really think that it's it's time the two mechanics indeed had very different visions for the kind of work they wanted to do rawlings and kaufman may have worked together and been friends for years but when it came down to business rawlings was still the boss both were very creative guys but each also had solid personal ideas about what kind of work they loved to do kaufman felt he couldn't be as creative at the gas monkey garage as he wanted to be as well kaufman especially hated the producers strict deadlines on the show the difficulties weren't just with richard rawlings and how he was running the business aaron also felt that fast and loud producers were too restrictive when it came to filming and that the deadlines they proposed to ensure episodes were completed on time made it difficult to work aaron felt these deadlines blocked him from doing his best work on their projects kaufman is a talented mechanic hungry for sophisticated and detailed custom car projects apparently the producer's deadlines prevented him and rawlings from doing their work correctly aaron thought that the level of craftsmanship at the garage was also suffering because of the tight deadlines they were forced into however the conflict between aaron and richard never happened although kaufman left fast and loud he kept a solid friendship with rolex it was stunning to fast and loud fans when kaufman declared to richard that he was leaving gas monkey garage but rawlings also seemed to take the news pretty hard still despite their creative differences kaufman had no personal issues with rawlings and the two have remained good friends so what happened next with the talented mechanic at my new shop arclight fabrication i'm designing aftermarket truck parts building unique vehicles that i've always wanted to build and i'm having more fun doing it once he had left gas monkey garage it didn't take long for aaron kaufman to originate his own garage where he would have total creative control over all the projects he launched his shop arclight fabrication in dallas and opened the doors to customers in 2017. kaufman soon clarified what projects he wanted to work on at his new shop arclight fabrication was originated with one particular vehicle in mind the ford f-series pickup truck not just any ford pickup will find a home at arclight kauffman focused strictly on vintage ford f-100 trucks later aaron starred in his motoring show shifting gears with aaron kaufman which ran for two series in 2018. the show featured the long-term projects kaufman preferred despite aaron kaufman's difficulties with tv cruise on fast and loud he also invited the discovery channel cameras to film his new shop however there was a significant difference between how the projects were filmed on fast and loud and shifting gears while fast and loud cars must have been done within the one hour show aaron kaufman demanded that each vehicle on shifting gears be presented on at least two episodes and that the team had more time to finish their work another contrast between fast and loud and shifting gears was the type of vehicles that the different garages prefer to work on as well as kaufman's passion for ford pickups he also spent screen time creating his own race cars they were then tested on the track including a harley motorbike and homebuilt dragster that they take to the race of gentlemen this wasn't aaron kaufman's first and only experience in motorsports in 2015 while he was still a part of the gas monkey garage crew he participated in two super
