rawlings of course most of us already know richard rawlings specializes in selling cars but not in the way you would think his niche centers around refurbishing and flipping vintage vehicles including a classic 1930 cadillac a 1984 corvette with a coppery paint job a 1976 tequila van and two fire trucks and these aren't just collectors items they run too rowlings is advertised as the man with the eye for the deal the eye for the car the gift of gab and the ability to make it happen if you want to buy or sell a rare or old car rawlings is your guy i just want to make a lot of money on it definitely gotta have this i know dennis wants this he describes himself as a local guy building badass hot rods keep in mind that rawlings is more of a businessman than a racer it'll come up again rev you up richard rawlings the host of discovery channel's once hit show fast and loud who is he how did he get his own show and why is he now worth 18 million dollars we'll also dive into his personal family secrets rawlings grew up in fort worth texas and was raised on auto shows he has been buying cars since he was 14. that's before most people in the united states can drive as if he had a natural affinity for fast loud vehicles rawlings worked as a policeman paramedic and firemen before turning 21. he also navigated the briskly paced world of printing and advertising with his own company lincoln press but would later sell that business to return to his passion for cars in 2002 rawlings opened his first custom car shop gas monkey garage in dallas texas the shop specializes in a part of it be in the mix and let the guys that are really really good at what they do do what they do but this doesn't mean he's never raced in may 2007 rawlings and his co-pilot dennis collins attempted to break the speed record for a cannonball run that is an unofficial race from one coast of america usually new york to the other usually california the reason that the rawlings collins record of 32 hours 51 minutes is contested was that the distance and time didn't quite match up people were betting on this race so the results mattered he also won the gumball 3000 and two bull run races rowling's also hit the racetrack in 2017 under a different guys it was the first time he had ever driven a pace car which is a type of race car that makes sure the track is clear for the competitors it also hurts the competitors so that there is not a huge gap between them during a designated caution period seeing as pace cars have flashing lights and go very fast it must have been nostalgic for the former fireman of course rawlings has a life outside of his garage he had a brief marriage with karen k graves in 1993 but it barely lasted a year his marriage with suzanne marie mergeley in 1990 lasted a lot longer but was still spotty with the divorce in 2009 a remarriage in 2015 and an announcement of another divorce on his twitter on march 11 2019. he is currently married to katarina diesen rawlings with plenty of photos of the couple on instagram rowlings has commented about how being happy at home leads to being happier at work so we wish the best for the relatively new couple it's a little unclear whether rawlings has kids or not and here's why while there haven't been any kids between rawlings and his wives he does or did have a stepson in 2019 rowling's another related show garage rehab that fixes dying auto repair shops under rawling's watchful eye but note that he's not the only person on board interestingly while rawlings admits that fast and loud didn't proud he says that tv may have been too chaotic for him and that he felt like he had peaked on the network he is currently planning new projects for gas monkey garage and investing in the
