this video will discuss the end of mob cycle 100 season 2 so spoilers obviously the last episode of mob was almost everything that I could have wanted it to be the action animation character growth and even how nicely they tied up many of the characters futures even if just shortly led to a very satisfying ending for the second season something I found extremely impactful however is the way that mob masterfully moves between its theme of empathy as I covered in my own video on episodes one through three and how it moves into a more specific path on how one should live their life a duality that hotly undergirds many philosophical political and religious debates through the last millennia it's the idea of relying on yourself versus relying on others both extremes to this idea claimed sole reliance on their own side but null reality those are both hard to sustain in isolation they need each other and mob cycle 100 gets that starting in the ark with Mogami and episodes 4 and 5 he tries to drive into mob the way that the world seems to be arbitrarily unfair to people based on characteristics that are often beyond control he uses this time crafting this more cruel world for mob to show mob how his empathy comes from a place that he can only appreciate from his place of luxury mob almost gets sucked into this mindset the mindset of a vigilante justice before temple reminds him of his own ideals and he comes out stronger what mob learns in this arc is that the world is cruel and unfair towards others and in ways that are not equally distributed but just because life may give you a bad hand in situation it doesn't justify you taking that out with your own hands on others and making their lives worse all of those other people you're taking out on after all are living in the same cruel world as you these two episodes weren't something I initially made a video on or covered because as you saw later in the season Moga me actually comes back and it shows an expansion on the lesson from episodes 4 & 5 you see all through season one and a part of season two there is always this concern that people are using the generosity that mob has to walk all over him or twist him for their own benefit it's the idea that if you are only nice people will use you and abuse you knowing that they will not face repercussion this is a genuine point that has driven home lots of small times throughout the season but is probably the most effective in Regan's arc that I covered for episode six and seven where Regan tries to appeal to this abuse saying his friends are only being friends with him for illegitimate reasons the irony of course is that by saying this from a place of ignorance it is actually Regan that is trying to manipulate mob in this way so when Moga me finally comes back later in the season he gives advice and while mob may have taken it in a different way than intended he takes it the correct way for what the story is trying to say sometimes you have to be hard on people sometimes lying down is going to have people walk over you so sometimes you have to have the own self respect to stand up to tell people what maybe they don't want to hear to show that you have respect not only for yourself but for others for the sake of establishing the self respect and for being able to better convince others to change this is a key point to managing and mastering the initial empathy that was pushed heavily at the beginning of the season knowing when to stand your ground and when to make sacrifices for the things that you stand for not letting yourself be walked over but standing firm in a way that displays respect civility and empathy this is the full growth and arc that mob goes through and in my opinion finishes understanding when going into the building for the final few episodes so where a lot of different series are focused on a character succeeding based pretty much solely upon the characters skills abilities and raw strength or power the success of mob what is considered success by mob is all determined by his own personal ability to grow into a more reasonable well-rounded and mature person it flips the expectation all on its head it doesn't matter that he can when every fight it's the fact that him forcibly fighting is seen as a failure now to get into the duality that I mentioned earlier at the beginning this sort of debate on one side there is a person represented by total reliance and others that of Serizawa and the other is of total reliance on the self that is shows father Joyce at all Suzuki in the case of Serizawa he lacks self-confidence and respect he is unable to develop or have confidence in any of his own ideals or plans so he relies on others to make them for him in a way this is an easy way out because if you let someone direct all of your plans and have faith in them then you don't have to deal with the pressure of living on your own life and own terms this makes Serizawa be abused by the people he puts faith in namely the leader of Klaus shows father mob understands the loneliness and the pain Serizawa faced and wants him to be more independent and better suited for believing in himself because Serizawa is a good person he has trouble dealing with his own problems so he leans entirely on his faith and others not exercising his own judgment and that leads people to hurt him even when he refuses to open his eyes and see it on the radical opposite is the leader of cloth tour chato who is a man due to his immense power that has never had to rely on others and has always gotten what he wanted by force but these lack of connections and bonds robbed him of some of life's most precious gifts the gift of other good people not people who use and abuse but who stand by you and care deeply for who you are as we see he perhaps had this in his wife but his sole independence in pursuit of power led her to leave him which as he admits he was too prideful to realize his mistake and concede his love for her so his father believed that with enough power and force he could find true happiness and be loved but he was never in a position to reciprocate and experience the joy and meaning that others tried to bring to him so we come back to mob in a way he is perfectly balanced he tells Serizawa to get self-confidence because otherwise people will lie and abuse him and then later he sits with shows father because even for a villain it is sad to see him suffer completely alone to die part of this is exactly what mob was building for a type of radical empathy that stands up where it needs and sits when it doesn't a type that always considers and always is acting at the end of the day it's about an average emotional middle schooler but one that shows more depth and consideration than most people could dream he is just continuing to grow through pitfalls awkward moments he's not perfect but he is trying and that's the big takeaway I think everyone can benefit from don't rely entirely on others to shape and move your life for you don't rely entirely on yourself to always be happy but always consider the other people you meet because you never know what kind of life situations and suffering that they have been through that bring them where they are today the final point I want to look at that connects to this idea is something that was touched on since the beginning of the series and all through season 1 up till now the idea of being the protagonist being special being the main character on one hand if like Serizawa you view yourself as a side character you willingly forfeit the things in life that you want to have that may be challenging to get on the other hand if you use power to force yourself as the protagonist that the world bends for you won't have many side characters or much of a good story the key takeaway is once again somewhere in the middle and is the big line for season 2 is opening your life is your own you are the protagonist of your own life so all you can do is make it story that's good enough that other people find that it's worth telling thank you anyone who has continued to watch me and support my channel I am looking to
