What is wrong with the Bears' defense and Eddie Jackson | Football Aftershow

absolutely you are two defensive players what is going on with this defense well we talked about it uh in the pre-game right we talked about in the pre-game and we had a bunch of questions about this defense whether i was in the secondary um eddie goldman goes down now you want to know like oh how are they going to stop the run they did a fairly good job early i thought of stopping the run but then they couldn't get after the quarterback and it was like there was no pressure you don't have pressure and you have questions in the secondary they can't cover for long and then eddie jackson i don't know what the heck's wrong with you but you need to fix it you need you you're an all-pro player or you have been in the past in order for this team to be great this defense to be great you have to play not at a pro bowl level you have to play you have to play at an all pro level and you're not doing that missing tackles cooper cup is yeah he's a shifty receiver but that's why that's why you get paid like that well how do you not just touch him down well that too i mean on the on the first one jefferson i mean you don't touch him now i mean it is an alabama guy jefferson's a florida gator we got that rivalry going on this week don't worry eddie we're going to talk but um eddie got to touch him down he has to i mean it's not college if a first-year guy maybe a rookie makes that mistake he's just a a brain fart but not a not a four-year all-pro formal all-pro uh pro bowl guy that was two he doesn't make that mistake blown coverages uh you know i think it's it to touch on uh eddie jackson even more you know he's really the veteran presence in that defensive backfield you know and i mentioned this last year you know communication or a lack of communication leads to a breakdown in coverage there's no communication out there those guys are quiet and and the quieter you are the less you know who the net the guy next to you is doing and i to me that falls on eddie jackson as well because he's the veteran guy he sees to make sure that everybody's on the same page now i'm not sure i mean coach talked about um that that coverage that blown coverage up the middle you know it looked like it could have been a uh cover two you know that if you know with the the slot receiver turning uh zone turning to the quarterback and then letting him go and the safety not coming up coming over the top we're not sure exactly sure what the coverage was but it sure looked like that um and that also falls on shaun desai the defensive coordinator because if you're not core if you're not communicating in the backfield if eddie jackson's not doing it that means it's not being coached well at least i get coach olin olin said when eddie jackson snatched up ogitry on the sideline because he was about to get that person oh actually i think he did get a personal file there needs to be the same so there wasn't just one person like if erlacker snatched up briggs well it could go vice versa if earlier didn't do what he was supposed to do i need somebody to snatch up eddie jackson i need khalil mack i need hicks i need somebody to come and snatch him up when he's not doing his job and right now he's not doing his job i mean not to say they would have won that game but that game could have been a lot different if they had played that left right there's 16 games left they got to get better it just was interesting to me that all preseason duke shelley is the starting nickel they come to this game and now he's inactive basically tells me they don't know if they have a nickelback and then you're playing cooper cup who's the best slot receiver in the nfl that's gonna be a tough matchup for you right so now you're you're you're blowing coverage these are something that they have to improve on and like you guys are saying sean decide that's his expertise he was a cornerback coach did shay township took over coach you
