[Music] ah mini camp for the rookies is opening up we got to talk about of course the first rounders Caleb and Rome but then we're going to jump into the guys selected a little bit later I got my guys here Josh and Alex we're virtually podcasting from the NBC podcast studi presented by St Xavier gentlemen how are you doing fantastic always a pleasure to be on your program sir summertime shy baby wh that mess all right guys let's start off with always the the most important factor and that's the quarterback and Caleb um how did Caleb look one I talked to Alex on Frid Alex did we talk friday was that Friday so Josh let me ask you starting off with you because Alex told me stature wise what were your thoughts of course you've seen Caleb up close but just seeing him in a Bears uniform where were your thoughts and seeing Caleb live at halis Hall yeah it was good I thought it was as advertised I think uh I mean just watching him throw is different you can just tell I think certain athletes do certain things it just looks different the ball comes out of his hand different it's very it's very effort uh accuracy is very consistent I think the Precision is effortless uh but to me the big thing is just the extreme attention to detail uh I mean just I think I mean these are rookie mini camp stats so no one come after me but I think I had him 16 for 20 on day one and the four times the ball hit the Turf it was like automatically like going to the receiver hey come here let's talk about like even like undrafted rookie tight and Brendon Bates drops a pass hey come here let's talk about it this is where you at and then they ran it again shadow shadow rep let's get it right and I think that was kind of a theme through the first two days like either it's him grabbing Rome or it's him grabbing whoever or him just going right to carry Joseph chain waler okay what did I do okay let me work my footwork it's very methodical um the attention to detail is very very pristine and we heard Kanan amaji basically say like get here very early and he's already been here he's just sitting in the film room studying Carrie Joseph said you know he texts me at 11:30 at night being like hey why is the tackle doing this on this play shouldn't he be blocking this tell me why we're doing it this way uh so I think that to me is very impressive um I don't take much of you know him and romad dun uh connecting seven times against guys that probably aren't going to see the field on Sundays but I think the attention to detail and just the overall Aura right I think he's a different he's just a different kind of dude it just feels different he's already trying to take command of the franchise know he mentioned leading by listening leading by following first but I think you can already kind of feel that Caleb Williams is kind of molding things his way early on and I think that'll continue when we get to training camp Alex yeah you know similarly it I there was nothing unexpected right we we also need to pump the brakes it's it's rookie mini camp these guys are doing seven on sevens the 11 on 11 hey last last time we watched seven on seven the ball hit the grind like seven times man this is a this is a jump up I don't want to hear that uh Saturday wasn't as clean Saturday did were you tracking Saturdays they're on the other field I mean that he wasn't I he wasn't I'm not saying he's perfect I'm just saying last time we watched seven on seven with an NFL quarterback the ball hit the ball the ball hit the ground like seven times it sure um I'm I'm not quit poo pooing it Alex be happy I'm poo pooing it I'm boing it um like come on like it's it's rookie mini camp and as you said like almost everybody participating is not going to be an NFL player so it's hard to get really excited I think the storyline would have been if things didn't look right if things didn't look right then it's like whoa like things are supposed to look right at this point so like yeah check things looked right things looked good um I will like I I'll I'll get a little hype I agree with Josh's assessment that the delivery of the ball the ball coming out of his hands like it does seem effortless it seems like he's just playing pitch and catch out there but the ball's got zip uh and the ball's coming out nice and it is an accurate ball uh but that's everything that again should be expected uh at this point in the year and I will again okay to not be such a kudon about it how do we switch these roles Josh how did this happen Vibes goty Vibes guy came in hot uh there there is that attention to detail you know that that's definitely noticeable that after every snap he's going with the coaches but like to be honest Justin fields did similar things Justin Fields had that attention to detail it's not like Justin Fields was just shaking off these bad things he was there talking with coaches he was there pulling receivers aside this is what is required to be an NFL quarterback uh and Caleb Williams is doing all of those things Josh and also this is a theme I want everybody to focus in on as we go into regular Camp particularly with my two guys so one of the things they always talked about in the past was too many balls on the ground hitting the ground and how they were always early on as far as I don't think the offense is going to work right this season that's for Josh and Alex both saying that so make sure you pay attention when they're talking about that again this his rookie mini camp but still pay close attention to that Alex I want to get back to something you said what was the problem what were the issues day two where it didn't look as crisp and sharp to you they did some red Zone work um and there was uh a series there was a moment where there were a handful maybe three four passes in a row that sailed high and out of the back of the end zone for incompletions I'm not putting that on Caleb Williams a because as Josh said it was really far away it was really hard to see um and again like so romad dun was not out there that day rad Dooms they had the hamstring tightness we should probably talk about that a little bit um no cause for concern was kind kind of my sense of that the sense was when that news was related to us this this is a precautionary thing it's hamstring tightness it's not a hamstring strain it's not anything like that it's like we saw Rome out there day one he looks good he's doing all the classroom work we're not worried about him why throw him out there on the grass if he's feeling something you know just a little bit tight so let's just hold him out there again precautionary um so without Rome out there on Saturday and throw into all of these udfa guys and rookie tryy out guys it it was a little bit sloppier in those 11 on 11 moments where B balls were going out of the end zone and were some of them overthrown hard to tell were wide receivers not where they needed to be again hard to tell it was it was far away but like I'm not going to ignore the fact that like yeah there were some balls hitting the ground uh for for a period on Saturday but again that's what I'm saying like big grain of salt most of those guys out there are not going to be NFL players look it's it's early I want to get to something you both said as far as the ball coming out with ease and the accuracy what's the comp for that and when also what about the velocity was was was there a difference as far as the touch from laring but also the touch from where it's like oh he can he can dowal this up quickly and this is one thing you can both talk about how did he look athletically like so just as far as on bootlegs or if they they move the pocket or in broken plays how did Caleb's athleticism come off to both of you I mean I think he's a natural athlete yeah but yeah I mean they didn't I mean they not doing a lot I mean they had what a couple broken plays that aren't supposed to be broken plays in seven on seven because receivers is tripped and stuff but I mean he yeah he's a fluid athlete it all it all looks good I think velocity wise it's I mean it's it's got pop it's got zip uh there's not a ton of I mean not a ton of laring throws it's all pretty basic concept slats Slants Flats um he was high on a couple throws I think when he tried to layer it in but once again like Alex said it's it's super hard to know like did the receiver come out his break right like what you know what are they actually looking for but I think as far as just pure arm Talent like it just it does look different um I don't know about a comp I mean the Rogers comp gets thrown around a lot um just because of how he plays and the arm angles uh I don't know I think I mean the velocity is it's it's impressive man I mean it's it is legitimately just like a flick and the ball is just it zips there so I think it'll be it'll be interesting to watch I think when we get in OTAs especially mandatory mini camp you get get kind of a better feel for I will say one thing I noticed along those lines too we saw some of those throws with both feet off the ground that he gets dinged for that Aaron Rogers again to throw that Aaron Rogers comp out there that Aaron Rogers also does like he'll throw the ball with both feet in the air no plant and uh B looked fine when when both of his feet are in the air and he's throwing the ball I didn't notice it I'm not a quarterback's coach but to my eye I was like that looks like every other throw even with both feet off the ground which is extraordinarily impress impressive Alex you mentioned the hamstring tightness and just taking precaution when it comes to Rome on dun the second rookie drafted in the first round thoughts when Rome was healthy how did he look um just coming out of his breaks and how did he look physically but also the connection with Caleb wasn't evident absolutely I mean those two guys linked up a bunch on Friday and it's also noticeable that like oh yeah he's the guy right in a in a field of tryy out dudes in a field of udfas Roma dun stood out the size the uh the rapport with Caleb Williams like that looked professional that looked legit that looked for real that looked like something you can project moving forward um so again like romad dun to me was everything as advertised uh on Friday Josh yeah I mean Chris route running soft hands I think I had him and Caleb connected seven or eight times in the 1 seven or the seven on seven on Friday uh yeah like Alex said it was kind of like uh watching Rome on the field with the udfas was kind of like when termaine and DJ showed up the practice last year after the 2022 Bears you were like oh this is yeah this is a completely different level of athlete like it's just it's very different um he's he's gonna be he's gonna be a dude I think you could just tell if he stays healthy uh him and Caleb are already got some something working they've been working off campus um along with DJ and Keenan so it's it looks it looks it looks real it looks good um as long as he can stay healthy I think the bear should feel really good really good about what Roman D is going to bring did anything stick out with their press conference to either one of you guys it's a good question um I mean a lot A lot's being made about the the Head Start that Caleb got um on the offense you know asking the Bears to to share fundamentals footwork of their offense with with his private quarterback's coach so they could work on that uh before the draft uh work on Cadence uh I think I mean Carrie Joseph said he's light years ahead just because that work he came into rookie mini camp and was was already way far ahead than than they would expect a rookie quarterback to be um I think it all just goes back to what we've talked about several times is just the the very very professional way in which Caleb Williams attacks everything that he does uh you know I talked with Austin Reed who's a udfa um quarterback who trained uh with Caleb in the offseason and what he told me was basically like hey like everyone knows the expectations but Caleb does and Caleb is aware that in order to meet those expectations and waste his talent he has to put in all the requisite work and extra to make that happen he's willing to do that um and I think that's that's the stuff that really speaks right I think Matty was talking about uh his light shines through how he's a multiplier he's an enhancer not just on the field but also off it uh so I really think it's it's just the aura it's the presence um you know it's it's not a lot that we can take from him throwing on shorts as we've T in shorts as we talked about I just think it's everything else that comes with it he is a professional quarterback who is very very very aware of the expectations and the gifts that he has and he is already far ahead in his work to uh make sure this developmental plan kind of gets off the ground yeah and I'll say the Charisma comes through too you know that's something that not every athlete like that doesn't always come through through the media through the public you know by all accounts Justin Fields was like a very funny personable guy in the locker room room but we didn't get a sense of that on the podium all the time there were moments where that would shine through and he would show us that personality but a lot of times not it just be like this is a thing that he's got to do for 10 minutes on a t on a Wednesday or whatever you know um with Rome and with Caleb and that's not a knock on Justin Fields right because media is a thing that they have to do for 10 minutes on a Wednesday right um I don't think they that any athlete necessarily owes that to the media um but that said like that Charisma that personality really did Shine through for both Caleb Williams and Rome at pretty much every single touch Point we've had to the point where I'm like I'm thinking to myself if these guys can realize their full potential and if these guys are great I mean it's not just these will be great players it is these are players that people will fall in love with you know people love Jonathan Taves because he was Captain serious and he was all of that you know and and obviously brought home many many championships but when you think of a guy like Walter pyton or like Jim McMahon these guys that just ooze personality I think like there's levels to it there's levels to it right and I think you get a great sense of the Charisma the the personality of these players they are really showing you hey here's who I am not just as a football player but like who I am as a person which uh which to me I I picked up on I thought was pretty cool what else that the coaches and coordinators say when it returns to Caleb when it returns to Caleb and Rome I just a lot it's a lot of Praise it's a lot of things that we've been hearing I think Thomas Brown Carrie Joseph Shane Waldren all were asked about their favorite their favorite highlight favorite moment uh of Caleb's when they were evaluating him and it was and none of them picked a play they all just talked about like responding to adversity uh two of them picked out the UCLA loss When U USC was just getting Pac it and Caleb just kept coming and kept coming and kept coming um and I think that that kind of speaks to the Bears overall process in this right it was like yeah cool we turned on the tape watched it for five minutes okay cool yeah this guy's clearly got it what is what else does he have right it's not can he throw we know he can throw we know he can make all the plays but what's he what's he made of how is he wired what's he buil built like and and that's kind of what has checked all the boxes um that that's that's kind of the big thing I think you know asked you know we asked hey what what does Caleb have to get out of this and it's just learning The Playbook it's just Caleb himself said he wants to learn the Playbook so so fast and so well that other guys that Rome comes and asks him for questions so that he can explain things he wants to be able to explain things to other guys to know it's so well that like hey I know what you're supposed to do if you're kind of struggling here I can tell you why we're going to do something so that we can get it 100% dialed um so I think I think really it's that it's just talking about how Caleb's built how he's wired and and not so much about what he can do on the field because like like we said that's pretty evident yeah cor um it's not specific to Caleb but one so the way it worked was they had all the position coaches available to us kind of on the field at the same time we kind of divided and conquered uh and I spent some time with Chris Bey the new wide receivers coach who is reuniting with DJ Moore and obviously worked with Keenan Allen and now gets to work with Roman dun and talking with him about DJ Moore you could sense that there was like real love I think he said he's like DJ Moore is like a nephew to me so they worked together at the University of Maryland um and then obviously they went their separate ways um but he said like throughout all this time DJ Moore was a guy who I'm still texting and calling and speaking to all the time again like I view him as family so to reunite with him what he was just thrilled about it um because he's like wow I knew you were really good and now yes you are again you are realizing your full potential and now we get to work together again and I have that relationship with you which is great he has the relationship with Keenan Allen and obviously Keenan Allen can do whatever you need him to do and then adding romad dun um I asked him Point Blank you know like is this the best Trio you've ever had and he kind of danced around he's like you know well some of those Chargers groups are pretty dang good but let's put it this way I'm extremely extremely excited and he's already kind of thinking about like okay all of these guys are kind of multiple DJ Moore you can move around the field Keenan Allen you can move him to the slot romad dun we've seen him with the Deep Ball but we've seen him with the screen game and we've seen him with the intermediate game his gears are already turning about like how we can get this beautiful combination to do some crazy things and uh it's obviously a very exciting thing for a position coach there's probably few people on the Chicago Bears or part of the organization or are happier than than Chris Bey who has this unbelievable cast of players that he gets to uh that he gets to work with on an everyday basis Alex you actually led into a question I was just about to ask both of gentlemen what's it's early but what differences do you see with so much overhaul when it comes to the whole offensive staff and parts of the defensive staff just talking to these coaches outside of Chris BBE what else has stood out to you where you can kind of sense maybe where this direction is headed when the season begins I mean I think it seems like it's just like it's go time like we are ready to win you know John hul has again he's returning his guys he's returning Jaylen Johnson and Tyreek Stevenson and Terrell Smith they've put in the work Gonzo has his guys got Tain edmans and TJ Edwards and it's Jack Sor who does you know a little bit of everything on that unit uh the new running backs coach he's got DeAndre Swift right it it to me the sense I got from from the position coaches is like we've got the tools we've got the pieces now it's time to like do the damn thing right no excuses everything's in place let's go and it it's that like mix of extreme excitement because wo we have a lot of talent here but also like the challenge of okay now how do we make sure that we execute how do we make sure that we win football games now because Talent is no longer an excuse Talent used to be an excuse for the Chicago Bears right they don't have the guys to win football games on a consistent basis throw that out the window um and you can you can sense that and that that to me is a bit of a change I mean I think for me with the offensive staff the big difference is to me it seems like and this is obviously a product of Caleb Williams and having a rookie quarck but it's it's much it seems much more methodical and the plan seems to be very laid out very firm everyone has their roles and we ask Shane Waldren you know what's your role in developing Caleb Williams like this is supposed to be like in in theory Shane Waldren will not be in Chicago long one way or the other either he's becoming a head coach or he's getting sent packing because it's not working and Shane said yeah hey my goal my my thing is the big picture I help him with the 3,000 foot view but we've got Carrie who's going to be with him every step of the way working on fundamentals we've got Thomas who spent time with Bryce young last year to work on infrastructure and he knows hey this is what Carolina did right this is what they did wrong this is what Bryce struggle with were there too many voices were there not enough voices and and I kind of got that same sense talking to Carrie when he was just like yeah like I text Caleb all the time because it's just got to be like my goal is to pound the little things into him over and over and over and we're going to be with each other every step of the way and then he can go to Shane and say Hey Big picture-wise why are we doing this or maybe I want to do something like this and we can Tinker with uh you know with the plays with the attack but I think the offensive plan to me at this point seems like it has clear purpose and I'm not sure that was always the case under Luke gety it always seemed like good coaches were just kind of doing their own thing like they were kind of siloed off here like hey Chris Morgan's really really working with the o line and T doing his thing but as as a vision I never really saw it and I think this group has a very clear plan of like we're going to do X Y and Z you're doing this you're doing that you're doing this and when Caleb needs this he goes to this person when Rome needs this he he goes to this person and then we all have the same idea of what we're doing would that be uh a self a self- analysation from head coach mat eberl as a because has he also when you're talking about for instance the coach coming in from Carolina and and knowing what went well and didn't go well with Bryce young I can put that to Matt eberl with now been a head coach for two years and knowing what went well in his first two seasons as a rookie head coach and now going into his third season and giving his chance with a much stronger unit on both sides of the team yeah I think it's part of mat eberl kind of looking internally and recognizing the mistakes he made but I'm sure it's also Ryan poles saying like hey first time up like I let you kind of I let you do what you want to do and this time it's going to a little bit more of a partnership we're going to sit down with all the coaches indep like together we're going to get a sense of it we're going to talk it through and we're going to get the best guys with the needed experience I think the Thomas Brown thing is a good point right that's that's kind of a that's a luxury right like they didn't even have a pass game coordinate like it was it was ly right Letty had that job and this time they were like well there's a guy who was with Bryce young who got interviews to be a head coach who's just kind of out there who we interviewed to be the OC and we didn't pick but hey if he wants to come here and have this title which is basically just it's like hey help us with everything we need to make sure Caleb Williams uh you know gets off the ground not in a way that Bryce young didn't and I think that's that just shows growth both from Matt EO from Ryan PS and just as an organization I think it's I think the Thomas Brown thing is going to be uh kind of a big a big kind of under the radar benefit to Caleb Williams and this offense even adding a guy like Ryan Griffin you know that's a guy who wasn't in there like Trevor Simeon was kind of that role last year but Trevor Simeon was a a player on the team right he was actually in the quarterback's room as a coach but now you have Ryan Griffin and they said it was really important to say let's get an assistant coach in here who was a quarterback for a long time um and it's still doing it over in Italy uh so that now we have we have somebody who can kind of be a liaison between coaches and players and be a bridge right it's just adding all of these little just these little touch points all of these little like kind of shoe roles I don't know the way you explained it Josh was kind of perfect where everybody knows exactly what they're doing and they have a lot they have a lot of bases covered a lot more bases covered uh by adding these positions than they than they did in the past and I think they they kind of did the same thing with Carrie they did the same thing with Carri Joseph right like not only does he have familiarity with Shane waldram but he played quarterback and defensive back at a professional level so he was telling like I can talk to Caleb as a quar wack but also as a Defender I can say like hey when you made this mistake as a Defender this is what I saw and as a quarterback this is what you're doing so you kind of get both sides of you get the Ryan Griffin part where he played quarterback in the NFL still in Italy and you get the kri Joseph part where he can he has uh experience on both sides of the ball that can help Caleb kind of see things both ways you don't want to put the cart before the horse but we are um Josh you mentioned that basically if everything goes well Shane walren should be perhaps seeking a head coaching job do do you believe at this point that a replacement is already on this roster if they were going to go inhouse to replace him at OC yeah it's probably Thomas Brown okay that's what I'd imagine that I'd imagine that was probably part of that that whole thing too right was like hey we interviewed you we picked your brain we're gonna hire you for this and if things go well Shane's probably not gonna be here long and it's gonna be an easy step come on man don't do me like that I I need what's happened in Detroit to take place here in our OC no that never that doesn't happen that's rare Ben Johnson Ben Johnson is that doesn't happen man you should want you should want your OC to move on that means things are going well I know I'm not that person I'm actually joking I'm not that person I'm not the fearful bear fan it's like what's gonna happen if I OC Le go ahead yeah I say you remember week eight in 2022 everyone was freaking out what if L gety becomes a head coach you're right that part if Josh before Josh before you got here you should have saw how afraid people were what if liet's good and he leaves and it's like good that's turned into a good quarterback exactly exactly guys all right let's talk about the guys that were drafted after the first two gentlemen and of course we can't get a lot kir nandji is coming off of injury so and he's not he's a line and so Lan don't do anything things in this situation I can't say this Austin Booker all of these gentlemen look like nice specimens a Austin Booker whooe just from the images that I saw and like it or not as far as listen Tory Taylor is every bit of that frame that he has him standing next to Ryan poles was like which one of these guys played whole line and which one didn't we all know Ryan POS has lost weight but still it's like that's the punter right there like oh all right like you can get you can actually knock some jackon one up and Tackle him but your thoughts on one seeing those gentlemen but also we finally got to hear a little bit more from him in the interview Pro interview and talking to him what also stood out to the the last three rookies that were drafted in his draft yeah they all they all look they all looked the part right I think to me the one that I mean Tory Taylor just the first day when they did full field punting I mean he's just he just nuking balls man he just absolutely I just hitting hitting piss missiles all over the field it was awesome and then you know and then you know day day two they work on the Richard said they work on the wedges they work on the Precision and like he was good like he admitted hey I I wasn't perfect the win kind of got me but he's got such a rare Touch of like a rock rocket leg and then just like really soft touch when needed um it's it's it's impressive to watch and it's it's going to be a weapon and I really liked his mindset when he talked about he was like we're like hey how'd it go and he was like yeah it went good if I ever leave the field and say I did things perfectly having nothing to work on that I need to not play um so he's like I never want to have that mindset so you kind I mean the Bears talk so much about the right people and the culture fits and like I think you really get a good sense now that we're in year three of the Ryan Po's regime of like yeah these these guys all walk talk look sound like Ryan Po's Bears right they all say the same thing they all look at things the same way they're all they all got long legs and broad shoulders and you know look like they can bench press a dump truck and uh yeah no to you know to Tory Taylor's awesome um I think Austin Booker I'm excited to see what they do with him because I think the traits are there but it's the motor right the max Crosby comp is the motor it's that it just never stops he's always going it runs it you know at red lines all the time so excited to see how Travis Smith develops him but for me man it was you know for a practice where there's no line play Tory Taylor kind of stole the show for at least 20 minutes of it I was like oh the hang time yeah so so so what what Josh is doing for our audio listeners is just looking to the top of his screen and that is what really I mean the the hang time that's real you know it's not just that he's booming it it's like he's booming it high uh so those coverage dudes got time to get down and plant their feet on the on the goal line and make sure there aren't any touchbacks right that's a big part of it it's not just can you kick it far it's can you kick it far and high so the dude's got time to run down there and down the ball um and yes that was noticeable Kuran amaji I will say there was something that caught my eye over the two days even though he's not out there I mean that dude was in Chris Morgan's back pocket the entire time I mean like did not leave pretty much Chris Morgan's side is listening in the entire time is even doing like little ghost step things like trying to participate in the drills even when he can't so he was super locked in and then yeah uh Adam hog I think put it best he asked Eric Washington I think Point Blank he was like this is kind of a strange question but like does he have really long legs and how does that help him and Eric Washington kind of was like yeah he actually is really long you know and that's something we we liked um and you also get the sense that you know he's a young man at 21 years old as he continues to get older and as he continues to add weight I mean he can be a fearsome looking player right I mean this is a guy who should still get bigger um but yeah I'm not gonna you're talking about Booker or Quran I'm talking about Austin Booker I'm talking about Austin Booker really long like you you see the length and then you also see that he has room to add muscle to get bigger to get stronger um so even though right the lineman you're not evaluating their pass rush because that's not real nobody's wearing pads there are still takeaways where you can say oh I absolutely understand why the Bears were intrigued by the players the way kran amaji was so dialed in the the extraordinarily visible traits of Austin Booker and then yeah I mean the the hang time of those punts on a few of them was like whoa it feels like it's up there for five seconds so take away the five draft picks gentlemen were there any other players that stood out and you could see perhaps being held on to going into camp we got six six signed today uh Leon Jones John Jackson USC receiver and Caleb Williams good pal will stick around uh Freddy Swain veteran receiver who played with the Seahawks in 2021 no Shane Waldren a little bit he's going to stick around uh with Tommy Sweeney veteran tight end uh and then uh uh what the DT whose name the DT Deshawn mallerie and then Paul MOA the linebacker of of Georgia Tech Leon Jones had some nice moments he had a pick on Austin Reed uh he had another pass deflection on a on a Williams pass um I'm not going to lie as opposed to you know the past two years where we'd kind of be locked in on udfas uh I was kind of just watching the guy who wears 18 eight who does the bear cloth thing he was kind of my focus uh when to when to Taylor wasn't uh wasn't absolutely stunting on everyone with his with his boobs uh I was just watching Caleb Williams to see how that was going uh so yeah those guys are going to make the make the I mean they're not make the roster but they'll be they'll be here for a little bit um I mean there wasn't like I said there were minimal tryy out guys as opposed to the past few seasons and our Focus obviously is uh has a little is a little different this year yeah uh I think you you mentioned it we spoke on Friday on football night in Chicago I go back to that episode it's on YouTube football night in Chicago I talked about Leon Jones and the plays that he madey he made the team he did it good job congrats Leon Jones he did he did make some impressive he was of all the defensive dudes that were out there he was the one guy who really kind of caught some eyes yep all right gentlemen anything else before we get out of here uh no I don't think so I talked to Chris Morgan a little bit about the uh offensive line decisions that were made this offseason um I keeping Braxton Jones not drafting the left tackle uh they're still very high on Braxton they expect him to keep keep getting better I thought that one interesting thing he said asked about Darnell Wright and just like the process of going from pretty good rookie to all proo like what what are you mapping out and he kind of compared it Darnell to Tevin Jenkins basically saying like you know when Tevin when I got here with Tevin Tevin was extremely talented and very immature he was just a kid he didn't really know how to handle himself he liked football but he was just he just kind of was learning to be a Pro and he's like same thing with Darnell loves ball super talented needs to really figure like take that like just twist it a little bit right get to where T is mentally now we just like pro pro pro and and he's going to shoot off so it wasn't a negative it just kind of like Darnell's a young kid he's like he's 21 I mean you could tell he's a super nice kid he's just kind of a little immature I think in probably how he maybe goes about things a little bit right maybe he's not as focused all the time as he needs to be and I think Chris kind of got to that when he was PR he was praising Tevin but then also saying like Darnell needs to follow kind of what tein did and just kind of like kick it up a n i don't I don't remember you telling us this as you predict that he was going to be the pick last year Josh I feel a certain kind of way that you you you you should have brought this to us prior know I know I know I know I apologize SS on me Al I got a question for you but Alex you about to say something what are you about to say uh in terms of just other things I'm really interested to see now in a couple of weeks when the veterans arrive how does s on sevs look when you've got Jaylen Johnson out there how do seven on sevens look when you've got Tyreek Stevenson and JM Edmonds in the middle field when you have Kevin byard what's the what's the back field look like with Kevin byard and jquan brisker um that's going to be that's GNA be a level up that's going to be a notch up is romad Dun A participating and B still getting super duper wide open uh things of that nature so I am going to be interested to see when we get that full team out there well it's not gonna be the full team some guys won't be there it's OTAs it's all optional but right the level of competition should be much higher do we know do we know any guys who've already come out and said they're not going to be at OTA yet okay I think so uh no no but I mean Jaylen normally comes a little L he lik spend time with his daughter in so I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up a little late this has always been a proe Jenkins podcast right but Josh you just said something so now since SEO Chris Morgan offensive line coach has given that also what run coordinator if I if I can Run game coordinator yes soon to be probably senior Executive Vice President of everything at this rate now can we say that is Tevin Jenkins is Ryan Po's guy Josh is he moved over to that place where we can see tev Jenkins perhaps been extended uh he's made has he made it to the Ryan po side because that's something we've all wanted for the long longest period of time yeah I mean certainly a Chris Morgan guy and I think if you're a Chris Morgan guy you're probably a Ryan Po's guy Chris Morgan was effusive in his praise in how tev's grown as a person not only as a player he talked about him becoming a father becoming a husband just getting kind of A New Perspective and really really locking in and tev's obviously talked you know at NS about wanting to be a bear for a long long time he's gonna be up for for a new contract here um so uh I'd like to think that he's putting all the work I think it's just gonna come down to isy healthy right can you get 15 games out of him instead of 10 right can you can you do that and if he can show he can stay healthy um I think he'll be a Ryan plls guy and Josh you ran into t out and about and he was talking about it just his focus and his love for his family and you guys were talking about just his his growth so you know shout out to te like I said we've always been a tein PO we just want him to be healthy um but we'll root for him here or not I want to thank my guys and
