don't get me wrong I wasn't not proud to wear it because the nominee I mean as far as I were asking is a significant number but for me it was just it was dis you know I wouldn't know who I wouldn't care there was you know 99 or you know 100 or whatever it doesn't matter the badge matters that's that's take the most important that will always be the most important thing [Music] how's it going good see ya see ya round yeah thank you for coming on this is what I wore it's basically we have carved that best collection of shirts to kind of tell the Robbie Fowler story so as a tradition we kind of get our guests always wear shirts so we've got you this one here fit me I mean I'm not as small as what I watch Harry's here isn't it I know you're messy this one this shirt I've not able knows that color this one that crew aircrew aircrew just as you pull it on how did you like your shirts to fit with why she was wearing just make him a debut for Liverpool and it was know what size he ones it was just put that shirt on so did you didn't have a choice that's what so we're gonna start with you growing up they were pointing a teacup start actually I mean that was yeah a cup 86 but did grow up and a bit in front and I grew up with me mum your mum side of family were all blues and seeing and my dad would take me to game how important would it bruise to you growing up and I actually want Christmas I have to go an Abbott and bike tour I was in flute up it was just a blue bike yeah I'm a blue bike with a you know whatever and stick it on it wasn't just an Evan kiss I remember oven this sounds really silly this boy I think I had an Aston Villa top as well and I also added a Tottenham shares as well so you was just a fan did you know really enjoy watching you know good teams and in terms of you know Liverpool a bit and you know I was never sort of a normal atom farm where I disliked anyone so just just growing up in Liverpool in a is obviously a tough time was these two shirts like a signal of hope for the city we did up until times in the 80s I mean where I was Grappa's 1982 the riots and that was a real tough time so I think football was I think it was a way for everyone just to figure out what was happening I think it was a big release for everyone you know a benign Liverpool because obviously you know what was happening in the turmoil I was happening within the within society so we're gonna move on to 93 which is your debut season and on this show here how significant was this show for you [Music] and I'm gonna teach you gin and when you when you're a kid and look don't get me wrong I did have I mean for example I had a war this one if I could probably walk so much this one so when you when you're playing schoolboy football you put these shirts on and it's brilliant so whenever you are representing a football club it's you know even if it's Sunday League you know to put a shirt on for the first time there's always a special feeling it really is but when you get a chance to maybe port you know on like this I mean is yeah I mean it's hard to put into words I mean that you can have every superlative Under the Sun oh it's years and years of artwork years of dedication and you know all of a sudden you get this chance you know I'm in the dressing room with I mean I think legend is used party much in football um is you know it's I mean I'm saying there's a legend that's used too much in football really is when I got into the Liverpool side you know I'm in a dressing room I was full of absolute bonafide legend you know playing off front we know with rushy it's a dream I'm a kid now Robby I've got to be cheeky and ask you growing up I said everything span the same year they came in for you and offered with you have gone I went to Liverpool Liverpool was my first choice they were my first choice because they were the first club that came in for me was there any temptation don't absolutely not yes I was by this time I'm ready yeah so we'll talk about your debut season for a little bit you get off the mark and the League Cup could we can we go by this one I know you want to go about will see this one so not too many people know that I was I was subbed officiator Premier League the last game against Tottenham we won 6-2 and I was so I mean I was probably not ready even being totally honest and I put this coat on and I'm sat there and you know looking in the bench and it looks as though it's up to swimming on me that was maybe the face really thing that I you know when I look back fondly on the career and you know I'm remember this hop as though it's I mean it was yesterday but you know putting her on for the first time was brilliant don't just quote remain your soonest at all for me so brilliant I think anyone anyone will tell you when every day you know find a manager who gives enough first opportunity to sort of be involved in the first team I mean I'll always of well I'm always indebted for that well free goes gets Arsenal mm-hmm quickest hat-trick until recently that day when you put on this shirt you did you feel invincible now what did you eat for breakfast I eat just everything this went around I'd love I'd love to remember I couldn't tell you I would love to I mean why I remember that is obviously the significance of Duke d the goals at the time you know I didn't know it was not until afterwards people told me how quick it was then when you play and it saw time standstill you know I actually forwards about 10-15 minutes you know I think it was 20 years I think study or money think I'll be a netbook mine's better so I want to move on to your next season which is when you became good quote unquote did this is probably my favorite chair well I've got two favorite shirts full of a pool this is certainly up them up maybe doesn't look the greater cool I think I mean officer with the abbey you know cricket style collar there but I think you know any any player will tell you I mean I did like a share sure there's really good people bring the heat off the FA Cup final was was not great ball you know when I think back at my football career I think my certainly bash year was was wearing these I actually looked at my for that kit with brilliant I really did but that one you know because I scored a lot of goals did you feel that your most confident in the football shirt at this point in time yes but um I'm a competent allowed anyway you know I mentioned before won't be in a dressing room with with legends proper legends and it didn't faze me because I'm not saying I deserve to be there poor I felt comfortable there you know because I've see this in a belief and I think that sort of helps you score gold and and be a little bit of a player you know I wasn't certainly big ad at all you know egotistical it was just like a bit of any confidence talking about being down-to-earth you had you did this iconic celebration was just a way to just to show people that you're still part of the people that you support the people of Liverpool not not really no because I am obviously Liverpool odd and I think people know I've said my history with with Liverpool enemies so I've got one side of the city you like me Angela's not so much people you know at that time you know we mentioned about you know the hardships of the 80s and you know growing up but certainly the nineties you know all the doctors were going on strike and a lot of them were they were losing his job so you know it was again it was Steve McManaman news you know I think he had an uncle at a time it he was losing his job so it was a case of getting out there and supporting them you know today their plight wasn't getting aired anywhere else other than you know the the surrounding of where they were so I mean he initially just brought ished t-shirt and so put this on and we will walk around after the game and obviously maybe animation or school to golf could now people lifted off the shirt and the publicity and you know and the walking off to go from that was was incredible was it almost fearful to tell us because football is nowadays are scared to stick their neck out their lap so media train was it was it did you feel any fear that you're gonna you know mate not because no I didn't again you knew you talked before about almost and in the politics and I think when you are upper bodies you saw a cocoon there's not maybe you know you know oh you're a football you get out there and show everyone that's maybe and maybe even exactly so Robbie Daley became number nine yeah for the famous Liverpool how important was this thing becoming number nine you know what I really really should say it's probably one of the best days ever but to me it's not about you know it's not about this or it's not about that as much as you know just significant to that number it's brilliant a nine honestly plays a huge role of my life you know I'm born on you know the night of April he got married on the night at you I'm a little lads born on the night of May so it plays a big part so you know me being nine so it just seemed to fit in don't get me wrong I wasn't not proud to wear it because denominators ever Alton is a significant number but for me it was just it was it was this you know I wouldn't know what I wouldn't care there was you know ninety nine or you know one or or whatever doesn't matter the badge matters that's that's take the most important that will always be the most important things in the net is you come across some great number names now just want to rank yourself where do you rank these guys are some of the best premier what a novel question I thought I'm gonna set before I was you know a little the conference and you know you look at these players and you know the likes of Alan Shearer less fair none you know be early you know jimmy floyd do you know I mean these all unbelievable players and I would back yourself against anyone it's not you because my record might not be as good as any of them but you never felt out of place I never did so you're having an illustrious career at Louisville and then this guy comes in I love people would have said he was a threat to your career but did you see him like that or do you not raise enough no of course did you know I'm a team player I wanted my team to have good plays and I want them to score goals and help me win what I wanted to so it is what is and you know was a disappointed of course not you know Michaels is a great player scoring goals and he's scoring goals for my club when he's scoring goals for my club that's why I want Jared hooli I came in joint manager was that a weird time for you did it kind of fed it very strange I mean Liverpool certainly I was a club in the size of us you know we should never have you know tuak manager you know that's not me dislike in general or dislike and Roy I think you know personally as a club you should have went that one route you know for me Roy was gone you know the right way you had a great team well likewise when Gerard came in he even knew what he want to do he was a clever manager I'm not saying we we seen eye-to-eye all the time obviously we had a few fallens out but you know I fell out with with every manager it hasn't played me because I want to play I really do but I've no problem with that with him I mean maybe could have been a little bit more truthful with me at times you know I know what the club's came in for me he always said to me didn't want to sell me but you know he did I want to talk about their treble seeded in 2001 you know was probably a little bit of a bittersweet season actually you know I've played know a few games scored a few goals done a great got on the favorite goals actually over kickers Charlton but you know I've didn't play as many games as what I would have liked but I still you know you know more than help my team you know and in winning what we did you know I was called and and the Lika final you know I scored in a Europa League final you know I came on when we were losing 1 nil in the FA Cup final so you know it wasn't the myclone file it was the Robie final final exam as far as I'm concerned and the last game in the season where we needed to you know to beat a child and to finish to finish fourth a good and I've set up so you know I'm more than play my part and you know an unbelievable season so what was the feeling of this being like almost like one of your last seasons for Liverpool and you sort of know deep down that you know you're not really the managers for - you'll tell you one thing and maybe do all the things but yeah I mean it's hard to take cause you know Liverpool was was my life and you know Liverpool was even being honest the only club I ever wants to play for thought things happen in football and you know you do need to you know after you need to move on you know as much as it was my decision to leave Liverpool I felt as though I was forced out and that's the odd thing about it you know I wanted to play and I want to stay there but you know things happen and yeah sometimes you know you know you know always wanted and I just didn't feel like so I was wanted so that's why I actually left so talking about how important was it when Rafa came in and said you know we went he's joined back in 2006 was that big for you coming home to Liverpool a club where I never ever want to leave this this was the best thing ever for me this was better than this was better than scoring goals this was better than winning trophies me going back to Liverpool was the best thing that ever happened to me on a football pitch sounds a little bit of a cliche dancer but nothing comes close as far as I'm concerned okay so you're in a burning building now I have to save two kids the first kid is based on your best memory wearing it and the second kit is based on Strictly how it looks so you can pick any kit here United Everton it's all good got a start this one's come with me yeah because of what it is when you when you say one kit you mean one year so I can have I'll give it to your legend having that is one because of what it is you know what you know I'm taking I'm taking this I think I love I love that one because this was the year I'm a full season buck so I think I'm taking now taking this one never pull through through yeah I am well we appreciate your time thank you so much try think what a shirt thank you so much appreciate puff thank you very much
