of the most requested guests for the show so i really appreciate you coming down so welcome to what i wore it's basically what we've done we've got a collection of shirts to kind of tell your life stories want to start with you growing up right until your last game yeah obviously i want to start youth team you guys are probably the most famous youtuber ever what was it like putting on this shirt for the first time and that was like was united fan so was like some of your heroes wearing this shirt and being able to play in this what was this like for the first time well just to be honest with you that one probably fit me better than this one yeah look it was special when it when you think of i always remember brian robson and i might use any type of people in this shirt and just to be able to so just just to put that on and not just as a fan you know i mean to actually play a game in it with the little white charts as well i remember them as other tiny shots but yeah special memories youth team obviously i didn't win the youth cup um the last year before i did i was we got beat by leeds i think in the final but i thought we had a special team didn't we and it was special special honor to wear that shirt now so obviously fa cup against these guys oh i felt cocky was that what was that like like first proper senior silverware like and that you was really involved in yeah did you when you look at that you just think of the the white suits the liverpool players just as i can think of honestly seeing them before the game and look it was a terrible game of football really where we knew liverpool were a really good football team john barnes jamie redneck robbie fowler macca see mac manaman some great footballers but we're you always feel you win of course you're we didn't play well liverpool didn't play well and it was down to erica late on to to winners the game okay i want to talk about this era of of football right so like the 90s era like the 90s was like a boom time especially in manchester like culture was booming always just coming out and it just like the shirt desires was like it's like very like trendy and stuff what was it like like coming into like almost stardom you know in these shirts like was it like hard to stay grounded like what was that feeling like i thought about like i said there was there was a music scene the football team obviously manchester united was doing great and i think once you're in it you don't really realize what you're a part of right until probably times like now when you look back on your career and it was just a great place to be um as i said we had the music unbelievable successful football team and we just tried to carry that on because as i mentioned players before like the great players that this team i do had to win the league from having like not won it for 28 30 years so the pressure was really on them it was done up towards to to really carry this on and all these kits bring back a few memories do you prepare throughout the season right to to get the trophies but talk to me about the treble week right so you wrap up the league against tottenham what was those those games that how much stress was your underwear in that shirt like just talk to me through like what wasn't stress stress is the wrong word it was an excitement you know we had we had three games in ten days it was three games in a week no ten days i think it was you know to win the league to win the fa cup and then to go on to go and win the champions league but i remember the first one against tottenham i i had so many chances in that first game i missed about five six chances i remember i got a right rollicking from the manager i've missed i missed so many chances but tottenham actually went ahead in the game david beckham scored obviously great goal yeah brilliant goal passing walker that's just my memory of that game i don't really like looking at shirts i missed that many chances i'm not trying to change absolute sitters as well and so i was worried i thought jesus i'm going to customize it but anyway i ended up winning the game through three on the call for sure and then we got fa cup now if i could finally yeah look now just back to newcastle we knew they were a good team some really good players but we always felt we could beat them okay so we wrap those two up nice and then we have to go into europe so before we get to the final rack and the semi-final how important was this run against like the two italian giants but also do you notice that the the kit changed right was that was that a big thing it was weird yeah really weird look it didn't make any difference to us but we had a different kit for europe that made them did for them for the league how did it come about i have i've never really noticed but yeah that year for some reason what did you prefer good memories in both of them um i like this one because i got the zip yeah yeah probably i like both of them i can't decide when i go to the semi-final against that uv light obviously this guy as well oh god how how important was this game well it was a massive game one of them this is iconic shirt and it looked juventus like black and white just i just love them and dan what a player but that that team that juventus team the run we had to get to that final was ridiculous the inter milan team this team i think even the group stages we had some like bayern munich and do we have barcelona as well for sure because that's what i'm saying like when you when you think about like the teams but you know what sometimes it's a good things it maybe concentrates your mind a bit more but they weren't just said i think that team i think of edgar davies the champs the center arms were brilliant box it was he in that team as well i want to know like you personally right you've played throughout the season you get the yellow card now my head would have been gone like we would have lost the game so how did you like rally yourself to get on with the game and just just carry on and get your guys over the line because it's you and android keem yeah look it's football arrives a bigger loss than me um it's it's football and um i i made a mistake i said i made me say it wasn't even a bad tackle it was destroyed unless i can hear deschamps now in one of these shows i can hear him screaming on the floor now trying to get me bogged and that's what that's what european player they were clever that's that's what they did and it was my own fault it wasn't it wasn't about tackling look you're disappointed you know straight away and you're sad you're upset of course you are that you you're not going to be able to be part of a selection for the biggest game of our lives and look you just deal with it you get on with it there's there's plenty of other players that are there to play and hopefully going to win it and we did yeah you did jane and i don't know how it feels right we all know what happened like the drama the late drama but how does it feel when you're watching from the sidelines like are you more nervous because you can't contribute like um do you feel like you're still a part of it even though you've like done something you don't feel a part of it one but um some people say that that's strange and you should feel apart because you played a bit of a part to get there i don't know i'm gonna go with 15 16 games or something to get where you were but you understand you you've got no control of it yeah there's there's nothing you can do to influence that game of footballing but you don't feel afraid about i know we went on the gate on the pitch after the game and there's an acronym how did that feel that wouldn't it's embarrassing honestly yeah but i have to bring it out because you score one of the best goals ever against these guys like you're just yeah you're just taking the mick that's what i look like what makes you even try that like i just did you you're just so confident that you just think i can do anything yeah i suppose so yeah i didn't like the shirt though to be honest it's funny material isn't it it's horrible it feels really sorry it was massive it was a bit like this one i felt like i just couldn't even i couldn't run it we had these big white shells shell suit sharks it was shocking it was horrendous but i just scored two really good goals on this one scored one at middlesbrough away as well but the one bradford obviously the one that was remembered for um we never ever worked on it you should not you're lying no i swear to god we nev never practiced it you just took back and just just saw you no i i said to him on the way i said let's just have a look at the edge of the box we've done a few corners before i knew it was free so if you actually see it again i walk towards the halfway line as if i'm not even bothered and i see bucks just have a little car out of his uh have a look out the car on his eye i thought right he's gonna do it he's gonna do it so i just crept up crept up crept up he did it and as you said i smashed it in yeah smashed it well actually i thought i was going to win goal of the season but it didn't happen honestly do you have one goal of the season the day after it was the day after paulo de cano oh is this a kick this is a kit was exactly the day after it was that same week and i was devastated you've had so much success right but then arsenal start to come about chelsea start to come back this era here of like arsenal what was it like playing against playing against like these guys oh it was tough and how different was this arsenal in this shirt the o2 and that different from the team that you played like in in the late 90s i did they weren't that much different to be fair they were still the late 90s do a brilliant team but again just that shirt it makes you feel ready to go again let me get my boots on where's vieira all right um they always made a difficult film look they were a great team this is your favorite show yes it was my favorite let's talk about this why why why this one i just like it i i like the bit of gold on it when i first saw the aig i was like no united are done but you guys i don't know i don't know but then like you guys just turn it around and i think this is like my favorite united kit now because of like well that was a new team again on it that's what i'm saying yeah do you think that part of the reason why you liked it so much because you just feel like it was like a new car probably in the what year was this that's probably around the peak of the 2006 seven yeah so i was probably in the peak of my career at this time you know energy-wise fitness-wise and i just felt good in it i think it's playing certainly feel michael carrick most of the season and this is when we had likes of cristiano coming to the team wayne rooney tevers it was a team another team that was built again to go on to win trophies and it was an exciting team to be a part of we're gonna move on here right so yeah i'll leave that city one and a little one yeah but then the next year this shirt yeah it's not a great shirt yeah you don't you're not you're not liking this shirt now but this is the shirt where let's cook i remember that shirt one of them passed up to me was it was it like a camera yeah what was it what was that game lap man this shirt hard hard game two of the hardest games i've ever had in my life that did both lakes four flags yeah what was it about that what's hard about them is it dude the really best team yeah oh the team were ridiculous as a midfield player to play against that is no fun trust me to play again just chasing them around that's all i saw actually for 180 minutes apart from one kick so you get through then it's like an all english final yeah so i would say this is my favorite champions league final people always say sure my favorite champions league final because i felt was like two top teams going at it like probably the two best teams in the world going at it yeah what was this game like yeah it was hard it was it was a tough game again wanted because we knew we you knew how good chelsea were you know you think the quality had right through but to say that we had some great players at that time and we should have won the game if you think you look back at the game the chances we had cara's tavez cristiano scored a fantastic header it was always going to be a tight game the frontline part obviously called the goal did he a drug birth machole in midfield i actually smashed my nose in that game but the one thing i always thought about this game probably rightly or wrongly was when you look at the managers i don't know why i just looked at the managers and i just looked at abraham grant i thought how can he beat him no i just i just couldn't see how we could do it and that's the wrong way to look it's obviously the pic the game's playing on the perch i'm just the way i look to that game and thankfully edwin obviously john terry you know i can see him in that shirt slipping now unfortunately for him now i've got to talk about how you 99 he said he wasn't a part of it this one how important was it to play in that final in this shirt and was it like a full force like coming together like a yeah look it was great to play in a final of course just just aware that badly say shirts are irrelevant that's the most important thing is the budge you came back here yeah but what was it like why did you come back what was it like putting on this shirt again i know you've like obviously at this point you're an all-time great dude was you feeling nervous coming back like yeah of course it was yeah um i've been training for a while i didn't coaching wasn't really for me at the time i i wasn't really enjoying it so i was with the other night under 23s i just ended up trying everything i was fit felt felt really good um there was a lot of problems in the first team midfield area around christmas time so i wouldn't see the manager i said a fancy plane again and he said great um i wasn't like to have you back i think he was yeah yeah he seemed like he was um and it felt a great idea at the time and then actually get to the game and kick off and kind of what was done what we're doing and i've relaxed about all this i don't have to worry about all the teams and the games and but once you get going again it lucky it was all right um first game was a city game obviously i think i came on a three nil open after 10 minutes it's 3-2 and we're panicking um but now i think i did a score a couple games later i think against baltimore wiggin i can't remember but yeah again i like that as well and then at this time right obviously one thing that's interesting about your career you've had so many different rivals like throughout in europe and also domestically then like obviously city came and you get this crazy like aguero moment now i wouldn't always does that yeah that's horrible you've done that i can't watch it on the tv i can't listen to that commentary really yeah so i want to know yeah would you have like if you guys had won that because it was a tight you leave almost that same point we went into the it was suddenly going away yeah we thought the league was gone but the league was gone city had to be qpr at home that's not a problem so that's going to happen and i'm going to go off the pitch and the two i think the two one down with two minutes ago or something then i can't believe you've pulled out so i have to listen to i can't watch it but would you have like if you had won that league right would you ever retired or would you have carried on still not a carry on would have carried on it was a mistake to carry on you reckon it was definitely a mistake because i remember two or three games into that season he was couple i was like 37 i was i thought what i've done but but you went you but you because towards the end of that year ended quite well for me sure because then the next year district i really like this shirt yeah i like this one i love it you liked it my style man i don't really like mannequins but then like you you this is your last your last shirt you know you're not your time in the united shirt you win the league obviously van persie comes in one person yeah yeah you just think of one person when you see that shirt yeah for sure you win the obviously the 20th league title as well and obviously the same year um sir alex yeah what was it like for the wearing the shirt for the last time obviously your last wearing any kit it doesn't matter what it's like look it's a nice-ish kit it wasn't my favorite kit but it's all about this it's all about that of course is it's all about that so we're gonna move quickly to england yes you make your debut oh trafford against these guys yeah south africa right wearing this shirt i think um jesus look at the size of that yeah what's it like like obviously your united fan right so yeah wearing the united badge it's a massive thing but what's it like playing for england wearing like a free lines different pressure or is it like the same exciting feeling i'd never call it pressure it's just an excited feeling as you said that being good enough i think it's probably a lot harder in them days to get an england squad because there's a lot more english players playing in england than i suppose you want as many foreign players you know i mean as there is now but yeah it's a it's a massive honor this is the actual one you are this is much more is that the actual one isn't it just flying around dude um it was special playing for england was a different level to manchester united but it was you know representing your country it's such an iconic shirt iconic country um playing with so many great players again it was it was special to wear that no scores i have you have to hold this shirt right because in my group chat we have this debate at least once a week so i need to ask you i need you to settle it right now when i when i think of you i think of two other names lampard and gerard who is the best you tell me you can pick yourself uh look we're all different but we're all different um there were two um there were two brilliant players two unbelievable players what a goal scorer he's goal scoring record from midfield he's sensational stephen could do everything um absolutely everything and right throughout his career he could score goals he could defend he could control the game frank was all about goals all about girls lived until he was 36 37 and i probably changed a lot in my career for the first part of my career i was all about goals getting forward like frank and probably just sat back in um as a controlling midfield player for the last once i got to 30 really for the last seven or eight years of my career we'll all have different opinions and look it it doesn't matter it's a game of opinions it's a game of opinions everyone's a bit different i think most people probably go for gerard or lampard than me but i'll get over it i love that last question right we're in a burning building and you have to save two shirts right so one of the shirts is based on your best memory in a football shirt yeah and then the second shirt is based on how the kit looks strictly style stylish straightness style so if you want to pick like that arsenal shirt saying just saying i'm not telling anyone so let me say go for the first one yeah your biggest your best memory in the shirt this one fa cup final being part of an effort fa cup following scoring a goal making a goal boom best seller okay your most stylish kit so you're going out you want to look nice what kit are you doing so honestly i never want to look nice it didn't matter what my favorite kit was this one as i told you before hello no no at the time as well so yeah that that was that was my other favorite one two solid choices paul thank you so much
