with the 2024 NFL draft right around the corner at the end of April I figured it's only right that we combine a couple of my older videos into one recapping what happened to every number one draft pick since 2000 hopefully you guys enjoy and if you did leave a comment and I will make more videos just like this today we're on a mission to figure out exactly what happened to every number one NFL draft pick from the 2000s now it's becoming more and more clear by the year that any draft pick can be that diamond in the rough that a team is looking for whereas in basketball the number one pick has a much better chance of turning out to be the best player that's not always the case in football since there's so many more rounds to go through stick around because I guarantee we're going to bring back some memories in this video that you completely forgot about we're going to kick it off with the 2000 NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns were on the clock after finishing the 1999 season with a 2 and4 record this team needed help at almost every single position at the time I'll be honest with the only names that you're probably going to recognize from that roster are Tim Couch because how you going to forget a guy whose name is a piece of furniture and Phil Dawson was a kicker and for some reason that's the name that I remember most with the Browns at number one they took Courtney Brown in an attempt to beef up their defense seeing as they gave up 27.3 points per game the year prior coming out of Penn State he had all the abilities that Scouts usually look for he was pretty quick for a defensive end had the size standing in at 6' 4 in tall and 285 lb pounds and showed throughout his college career that he could perform well being named as the Big 10 defensive player of the year in the 1999 season along with being a consensus All-American he did start off looking very promising though during his rookie season but after that things began to decline quickly for him for some reason Brown just couldn't stay healthy starting in his second season knee and Ankle injuries began to take a toll on him and his performance sometimes things like that just happen in the NFL you're playing one of the most physically demanding Sports in the world every single week some players just get hurt way more than others which is unfortunate from 2002 to 2004 Brown was only able to get on the field for 26 total games and recorded just eight sacks during that time once it was clear that he was not going to be able to get healthy enough the Browns decided to cut their losses and release him during the 2005 offseason Brown decided to sign with the Broncos where he didn't perform up to their standards either and he was cut after the season was over ultimately and in his NFL career since retirement Brown has certainly not spent much time in the spotlight as it was very hard for me to figure out what he's actually been up to these days I did see something that said he has been doing missionary work in the Dominican Republic but I can't confirm 100% if that's true or not since he doesn't have any social media now 2001 was quite a different story this was a complete roller coaster ride of a draft pick the Falcons needed a piece that could turn around this entire franch so what better choice than a quarterback they had three quarterbacks on their roster during the 2000 season Chris Chandler Danny canel and Doug Johnson some of you watching might not have heard of any of those guys but Chandler actually LED them to a 14-2 season in 1998 along with getting them all the way to the Super Bowl before losing to the Broncos 34 to9 the problem was now he was in his mid-30s and most seasons didn't follow the same path for Chandler it was kind of a one season deal where they were really good and then after that not so much so the Falcons decided to go with Michael Vic out of Virginia Tech this dude when he was healthy was nothing short of a video game character with how he ran the football and he had the potential in my eyes to be top 10 in terms of greatest players ever he started off his career by backing up Chris Chandler in the 2001 season but after a mediocre 7-9 season the Falcons decided to give him the keys to the Cadillac once he got those keys in 20 and two it was like a whole new engine was unlocked for that car Vic ran for 777 yards on the year led the league with an average of 6.9 yards per attempt and total 24 touchdowns on the season leading the Falcons to a 96 And1 record before losing to the Eagles in the divisional round after an unfortunate injury where he broke his leg in a meaningless preseason game Vic picked up right where he left off in 2004 leading the Falcons to an 11 and5 record run running for 902 yards and once again leading the league in yards per attempt at 7.5 he continued that level of play through the 2006 season where he became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season but just when everything was looking up for him Vic made the worst decision of his entire career that would ultimately ruin his image 2007 Vic was suspended indefinitely after pleading guilty to a dog fighting scheme where bets would be placed on who would win as you can imagine this disgusting Behavior was met with a hefty suspension for 2 years but a lot of people believe he never should have played football again once he did come back the Eagles took a chance on him and you know who their coach was at that time good old Andy Reid so if you like the Chiefs you can't really be complaining too much about this one you know coach Reed is a good guy at heart Vic did end up somewhat Reviving his career in Philly for just two seasons in 2010 and 20 2011 even being selected to the Pro Bowl in 2010 along with winning the comeback Player of the Year award once his time with the Eagles was over though his career was pretty much over in 2014 he ended up on the Jets not doing too much with them and then on the Steelers in 2015 only playing in five games because Ben rothberger was injured during that time honestly things could have gone a lot differently for Vic if he never got involved in that whole dog fighting mess but bad decisions like that are going to come back to haunt you you in ways that you could never imagine at the end of his career Vic had four Pro bow appearances to his name since stepping back from football in 2016 Vic has done many different activities most notably he has been doing commentary worth for Fox Sports as an NFL analyst now of course selecting a quarterback with pick number one except this didn't quite turn out the same for them as it would the Falcons to be fair though out of all the quarterbacks in this draft class none of them really amounted to too much so there was no Perfect Choice Houston took David Carr in hopes that he could start off this franchise right and lead them to some success that did not happen of course the blame is going to All Fall onto a quarterback in a situation like this but their offensive line didn't do him any favors either out of his Five Seasons with the team car led the league in getting sacked three of those which means those guys either weren't doing their job well enough or Carr was just holding on to the ball too long it seemed to me like it was a mix of both the best thing about his time with Houston was in 2006 when he surprisingly led the league in completion percentage but that didn't really help the team too much and after that he was off to Carolina with the Panthers he only played in six total games and finished with a starting record of 1 and3 during his time there following his run with the Panthers Carr didn't start in a single game again in his career he gotten games here and there but for the most part the teams he went to already had their starting quarterbacks in place Carr did end up getting himself a ring though as a part of the New York Giants after they took down the Patriots in the 2012 Super Bowl after retiring car has joined NFL Network as an analyst but some of his takes are a bit out there to say the least he did just recently say that Jaylen herdz should be benched for Marcus Mariota last season I don't know if I quite agree with that one as for 2003 goes the Bengals were on the clock coming off a 2 and4 Season where John kitna achill Smith and Gus fot were the quarterbacks on roster clearly that situation wasn't working out too great so they drafted the best quarterback on the board in Carson Palmer unlike most number one picks Palmer didn't actually play at all during his rookie season instead he learned the ins and outs of the position at the NFL level during games and in practice once they did give him a shot in 2004 it was a bit shaky with Palmer throwing just as many interceptions as touchdowns but that appeared to be exactly what he needed because in the 2005 season everything turned around Palmer led the Bengals to an 11 and5 record along with leading the league in touchdowns and completion percentage this was enough to earn himself the first Pro Bowl not of his career and the Bengals truly had a chance at making a playoff run their wild card game matchup that year was against the Pittsburgh Steelers and sadly disaster struck on just the second snap for Cincinnati with Palmer tearing his ACL now the Bengals went on to lose that game but the franchise was still very hopeful for his future he made some noise during his comeback season yet again making the Pro Bowl but things began going downhill for him after 2006 in 200 7 Palmer threw for over 4,000 yards which might seem good but he also led the league in interceptions thrown and then was injured yet again in 2008 after starting the season 0 and4 for the rest of his time in Cincinnati they couldn't make it past the wild card game and Palmer ended up being traded to the Raiders in 2011 the same type of play continued while he was with Oakland until he ended up on the Cardinals in 2013 then something magical happened his career completely turned around although they didn't make the playoffs in his first year at quarterback for the Cardinals he led them to a 10-6 record which was a huge turnaround compared to the previous season where they finished just 5- 11 now Palmer did have some much needed star power to help him along the way by the names of Larry Fitzgerald Prime Patrick Peterson at the time on defense and a couple more but if the quarterback play is bad then the whole team is just dysfunctional and nothing's going to work so Palmer did his job very well in The Following Season by the time week 10 rolled around Palmer and the Cardinals were smooth sailing with a record of 7even and one until yet again Arizona's chances were destroyed as Palmer tore his ACL against the Rams in the fourth quarter he was a fighter though and came back just one season later to lead them to a 13 and3 record leading the league in qbr along with leading the league in game-winning drives he was clutch he was everything that Cardinals fans wanted him to be that year and they looked great but something was off late in that season they snuck by the Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs and then got blown out of the water by the Panthers in the NFC championship game yet again Palmer was dealing with an injury that he was downplaying later confirmed by Larry Fitzgerald a right index finger dislocation would be the cause of the Cardinals downfall that season that pretty much sums up Palmer's whole career right there when he was fully healthy he could hang with the best of them and be a great quarterback but injuries took a massive toll on his body and at the end of the day the job was never fully completed after losing in the playoffs to the Panthers in that 2015 to 16 Season Palmer played just two more years with the Cardinals before retiring from the league finishing with three Pro Bowl appearances and a lot of wha ifs for Cincinnati and Arizona fans nowadays Palmer spends his time being a busy father to his children in Sun Valley Idaho likes to spend his time fishing and hunting he also teamed up with an Idaho campaign dedicated to Healing children diagnosed with cancer called Camp Rainbow gold moving on to 2004 there wouldn't need to be any wha ifs from this quarterback's fan base by the time his career was over Eli Manning was taken first overall by the Chargers but traded on draft night to the New York Giants because he refused to play for San Diego due to him being worried about their organization at the time now Manning started off his career a bit slow but that's pretty normal for rookies to dip their feet into the water before completely diving in and playing well by year 2 Eli was looking a lot more comfortable in the offense and things began to click with them finishing 11 and5 although they got skunked in the first round of the playoffs by the Panthers the Giants future was looking bright and that was confirmed when they took down the Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl Eli finished the regular season with the most interceptions in the league and they still managed to take down the greatest football player that we've seen to date in Tom Brady David tyree's helmet catch made this Super Bowl an instant classic but Eli and the Giants weren't done there they would be back to the Super Bowl yet again in 2012 against none other than Tom Brady in the Patriots NFC East was really Brady's Kryptonite if you look back at it and you can thank mostly Eli Manning for that after that Super Bowl victory Eli seemed to have used up all his magic wishes because he would once again lead the league in interceptions and the Giants started playing worse and worse wish is well spent though I must say because anytime you can beat Brady it's definitely worth it Manning made one more Pro Bowl in the 2015 season before calling it a career in 2020 I have to say sometimes Eli would look goofy he would make decisions here and there where all you could really do is just shake your head but at the end of the day Eli did exactly what the Giants needed him to do go out there and win football games when it mattered the most in those two Super Bowls Eli will always be known as a Giants Legend and I want to know your opinions in the comments section below do you think that he did enough to become a Hall of Famer since retiring Eli has been super busy working with multiple Brands such as Corona is half of the Manning cast that airs on ESPN during Monday Night Football games and is apparently looking to get into some ownership in sports teams in the future 2005 was yet another wild up and down journey and your captain of this trip went by the name of Alex Smith he was selected number one overall by the San Francisco 49ers and his career got off to an atrocious start one touchdown thrown and 11 interceptions for Smith in his rookie season had to leave fans wondering how in the hell they picked this guy was Smith a bad pick or what exactly was happening here now I know I said rookies usually struggle but not that badly after that start people began questioning if he was going to actually last in the NFL and if he did would it be for that long he did however come back with a better performance in his second season but it was still clear that he wasn't playing at the level that the ners needed him to The Following Season Smith would run into his first physical Obstacle of many separating his AC joint in his shoulder and being shut down after playing in just seven games he would then break a bone in the same shoulder before the next year began causing him to miss all of the 2008 season as well once he did return Smith actually played much better even though he dealt with some more injuries along the way when he was on the field things were going well for the team his best year with the Niners came in 2011 where they finished 13 and3 before losing to the Giants in the NFC championship game after yet another season of him suffering an injury in 2012 the 49ers traded Smith to the Chiefs this paired him up with Andy Reid and it was also where Smith played his best overall football the greatest part about this whole experience for him in Kansas city was that he was finally fully healthy he led the Chiefs to a positive record every sing single season with the team even making three Pro Bowl appearances but sadly they just couldn't get the job done when it mattered most in the playoffs following the 2017 season Smith was shipped off to the Redskins where he faced the biggest challenge imaginable in a game against the Houston Texans on November 18th he was tackled by Kareem Jackson and JJ Watt in the backfield what at first seemed like a normal sack turned into the biggest battle of Smith's career he had broken his tibia and fibula during that play this injury was much more than meii even though it was absolutely disgusting to look at Smith had to go through 17 different surgeries his leg at one point turned black and he was diagnosed with a flesh eating disease called necrotizing fasciitis and just when it seemed like all hope was completely lost like Alex Smith would never play professional football again the unthinkable happened he fought and fought and eventually returned to the league in the 2020 season winning the comeback Player of the Year award and finishing off his career on a positive note as an absolute Warrior hats off to Alex Smith for being one of the strongest and most dedicated athletes that I personally have ever seen after concluding his NFL career Smith joined ESPN as an NFL analyst for sports center and Monday night countdown and this poor guy had to deal with his daughter having a brain tumor that took multiple surgeries to be removed now for 2006 we had our second Defender taken at number one and it would be by the Houston Texans they decided to go with defensive and Mario Williams out of NC State he was extremely strong fast for his position and of course had a knack for getting pressure on the quarterback there was a big debate on whether Reggie Bush should have actually went number one overall but at the end of the day the Texans decided not to go with him due to quote unquote character issues Williams still turned out great for Houston though in just his second season season he had an outstanding gear blowing every other Texans Defender out of the water in terms of sacks on that season and even scoring oneir of the team's total defensive touchdowns he followed that up with two straight Pro Bowl seasons before Williams began to miss some time after getting hurt in 2011 and being placed on injured reserve Mario became a free agent during the off season Once all the dust had settled Williams ended up on the Buffalo Bills where he would continue to play at a dominant level even though he made two more Pro bowls during his time with Buffalo they never did have what it took to make a good run in fact the bills never even made the playoffs while Williams was a part of that roster which suck to see after the 2015 season was over he was a free agent once again and surprisingly made his way onto the Dolphins who are one of the bills division Rivals Williams signed a 2-year contract with them in the off season but would only play one of those out before being released and retiring from the NFL since retiring Williams has just been really focused on spending more time with his children there was one incident in 2019 where Williams apparently broke into his ex's house and was arrested for that but she later stated that she wanted those charges to be dropped and he was ultimately hit with a misdemeanor 2007 was a unique case this was one of the biggest bust in NFL history JaMarcus Russell was taken first overall he was a beast in college at LSU had abilities that you simply just couldn't Teach as a coach Scouts loved his armstr strength and size at the quarterback position but unfortunately the Raiders had the number one pick who around the time just kept making the wrong decisions Raiders owner at the time Al Davis insisted that they draft Russell and that he would be a savior to that franchise while on the other hand the head coach at the time Lane kein wanted them to draft future hall of fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson hindsight is 2020 and Megatron at the end of the day was a much much better pick Russell immediately started off his career on a sour note holding out all of training camp and into the first week of the season because he wanted a better rookie contract even though Russell and the Raiders did finally come to a deal he still only entered into four games during his rookie season and didn't play too great as we talked about a lot in this video though a lot of the times rookies are going to struggle and then bounce back during their second season this was sort of the case with Russell as he played a bit better but not too great finishing the 2008 season with 2,423 yards 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions the really off-putting stat was his 12 fumbles on the season we got to hold on to that football out there but the fumbles would become the least of the Raiders problems with Russell starting in 2009 J Marcus's uncle and father figure ended up passing away from heart disease in April and then in July another one of his uncles passed from a heart attack which really caused him to spiral out of control by the beginning of the Season all that grieving in the off season caused Russell to wait in at 305 lbs and he was clearly not ready to play football both mentally and physically this showed when he finished the 2009 season with a starting record of 2-7 throwing for just three touchdowns and 11 interceptions Oakland by that point had enough of Russell and he was released in the off season that would end up being the last time anybody saw JaMarcus Russell play in the NFL after his NFL Journey was over Russell did try to make a comeback to several teams but could never make it back on a roster in 2018 he started working for Williamson high school as a quarterback's coach hoping to mold young athletes there into future NFL players in 2008 the Miami Dolphins were on the clock at pick number one and they decided to beef up their offensive line with Jake Long this turned out to be a great pick for them as he would start off his career with four straight Pro Bowl appearances along with an all pro appearance during the9 season long also became the highest paid offensive lineman in history at that time agreeing to a 5-year 57.5 million deal with the dolphins during his rookie season long gave up just two and 1 half sacks on the entire year I saw this one thread on Reddit asking if he could be considered as a bust that makes zero sense to me because long was one of if not the best left tackles in all of football during his time with Miami now after his time with the dolphins was over that argument might make a little more sense because he was injured so much but I don't really think you can put that blame all on him I do wish I could talk about long for longer but offensive lineman's jobs aren't too too flashy go out there and stop the defender from getting to your quarterback which is exactly what he did he did his job very well when he was healthy since retiring long has spent most of his time just being with his two children and rounding things off in 2009 the Detroit Lions were on the clock after an embarrassing 0 and6 season the year prior they needed a change at the helm and needed it badly so so they went and drafted quarterback Matthew Stafford number one overall out of Georgia things didn't instantly begin looking great for Detroit though once he was drafted as he went on to miss six games during his rookie season due to various knee and shoulder injuries along with throwing 20 interceptions in the 10 games that he did play in then once again in 2010 he hurt his shoulder which ultimately ended his season after playing in just three total games Stafford did not give up though as he went on to win the comeback Player of the Year award in 2011 and led the Lions to a much improved record of 10- six along with throwing for over 5,000 yards that season Detroit was leaning heavily on Stafford to turn this franchise around probably more than any other team in the NFL since he consistently finished towards the league lead in attempts per game although his time in Detroit didn't lead to any playoff success for the Lions Stafford and Calvin Johnson saved this team from being a complete disgrace in the early 2010s in 2014 Stafford made his first pro bowl and led the league in game-winning drives and fourth quarter comebacks another thing I noticed when taking a look back at the stats is that in 2016 Stafford led the Lions to a 9- s record and you might be thinking okay that's pretty mediocre but the amazing part is that eight of those games were one on game-winning drives led by Stafford that's pretty remarkable this man was clutch and heavily underrated due to their lack of playoff success and overall pieces around him it wasn't until 2021 where Stafford finally found found himself on a team that had a real shot of winning it all the Los Angeles Rams he was teamed up with players like Aaron Donald Jaylen Ramsey and they even went out and got Von Miller at the trade deadline to make this defense an absolute Powerhouse and make that push for a title Cooper cup emerged as one of the best receivers in the NFL that year due to his connection with Stafford on the offensive end multiple sources had the Rams finishing below five wins for the entire season but Stafford just keeps proving the haters wrong we covered the 2000's draft picks now I think it's time to head to the 2010s and see what those number one picks had to offer but we aren't stopping there we're also going to cover the 2020 so might as well get started 2010 the Rams had the first pick and this team was absolutely trash for the three previous Seasons 2009 they finished 1 and 15 2008 2-4 2017 3 and 13 somebody needed to save this team for these poor St Louis fans please what better position to do that than a brand new quarterback I mean they didn't really have a choice though since Mark buer was 32 and that 1 in5 season they just had would be his last in the league Sam Bradford was the best available quarterback at the time that's who the Rams decided to go with Bradford looked great in college but his time at Oklahoma still left a lot of question marks for Scouts wasn't due to anything he was doing wrong necessarily but his offensive line was so good in college that that Bradford was rarely ever pressured so nobody knew if he was good at throwing on the run or would struggle making decisions quickly if his offensive line collapsed in the NFL still there was a ton of upside to be had there and his accuracy was Elite at the time in his first year you could definitely see the potential that he was showing throwing for over 3500 yards and 18 touchdowns there was a little issue throwing 15 interceptions but overall a great season winning offensive Rookie of the Year and turning the Rams team around leading them to a bit more respectable 7-9 record in comparison to previous Seasons if we're being totally honest here I do think the Rams kind of ruined Bradford during his time there especially after year number one they didn't have good protection for him at all the receivers were terrible and the only real good player that was on that offense was Steven Jackson combined that with Bradford's ACL tear in week seven of the 2013 season it was a recipe for him to leave St Louis for good in 2015 Bradford ended up on the Eagles and while he had one of his best seasons yet the team only finished s-9 and you know how Philly fans can get okay any more than six losses forget about it pack your bags your can from the team also the Eagles went out and drafted Carson Wentz in 2016 so you know there was really no place for him on that team after that year the next year he found himself in Minnesota and this turned out to be his best season yet finishing the year leading the league in completion percentage along with having a 4:1 touchdown to interception ratio unfortunately once again his efforts did not lead to a winning season and after numerous injuries during the 2017 season his time with the Vikings came to an end Bradford finished off his career with the Cardinals after starting off the 2018 season 0 and3 after retiring from football he has been very focused on just being a great dad to his three children along with being inducted into the American Indian athletic Hall of Fame which celebrates his Cherokee Heritage and contributions to sports moving on to the 2011 Draft class this year was stacked I must say Bon Miller Patrick Peterson JJ Watt AJ Green Julio Jones I could go on and on for a while here but taken at number one was none other than Superman himself cam nton the Panthers took him after finishing the previous season 2 and4 and it's a damn good thing they did because it immediately started paying off for them cam finished year 1 making his first Pro Bowl and winning the offensive Rookie of the Year award after throwing for over 4,000 yards and rushing for a very impressive 14 touchdowns he was a different kind of runner at the time in comparisons in the 2000s we talked about Mike Vic being taken number one overall Vic was a Speedster who would break your ankles and run circles around you standing in at 6 ft tall cam on the other hand stands in at 6' 5 in and 24 45 lbs this is a guy that will just straight up run you over if he really wants to not to mention how he would constantly jump over the goal line which was almost impossible to stop now 2013 was the first time that cam led the Panthers to a positive record at 12-4 this was also his second Pro Bowl appearance even though they lost in the divisional round to the 49ers Carolina definitely had a lot of hope that their star player could eventually take them further on down the line that's exactly what happened in 20 2015 when the Panthers finished that season with an incredible 15-1 record Newton threw for a career-high 35 touchdowns and added 10 more on the ground leading to him making his third Pro Bowl appearance winning the MVP award being named the offensive player of the year and making his lone All Pro appearance in the divisional round of those playoffs they made it by the Seahawks even though the offense fell completely flat in the second half Cruis by the Cardinals in the NFC Championship round then lost the famous Super Bowl pton Manning right before he retired cam later came out in interviews and podcast saying that he really just wanted the season to be over at that point and you could clearly tell he caused the Panthers three turnovers in that game the most costly one coming on a fumble which most of America thinks he could have jumped on instead he decided to just look at it and the Broncos ended up recovering it and eventually winning that game now that season was the peak of Cam Newton's career right there after that the Panthers could never replicate that same level of success or even really come close to it again they did make the playoffs once more in 2017 but lost in the first round to the Saints after trailing virtually the entire game after hurting his foot and missing nearly all of the 2019 season Newton became a free agent and signed with the Patriots since they needed a replacement in the absence of Tom Brady he played pretty well rushing for 12 touchdowns and it looked like he might just stick around for a while in New England but belich and the Patriots decided to draft ma Jones instead and once the season was about to begin they went with him cam then returned to the Panthers for one more season finishing with a starting record of 0 and five and that was the last time that he's played in the NFL since then cam has been very busy off the field appearing on numerous different podcasts working on creating his own clothing line working on his own book and much more let's move to 2012 now one of the most shocking careers that the NFL has seen in quite some time the Colts were on the clock at number one and desperately W in need of a quarterback after pton Manning signed with the Broncos they decided to go with Andrew luck out of Stanford who immediately turned this team around in just his first season he led them to an 11 and5 record led the league in game winning drives with seven made his first Pro Bowl appearance and finished the year just behind RG3 for offensive Rookie of the Year luck was looking like a savior especially if you compare that to the previous year where they finished 2 and 14 they lost in the first round of those 2012 playoffs but the Colts had their new franchise quarterback it seemed like for the next two years luck turned it up even more leading the Colts to two playoff appearances making two more Pro bowls and even leading the league in touchdowns thrown at 40 in the 2014 season his main problem in the playoffs was a you know half decent quarterback by the name of Tom Brady luck and the Colts just couldn't beat him in the Patriots 2013 divisional round they lost 43 to 22 and the 2014 14 playoffs they were blown out in the AFC Championship Game 45 to7 2015 was the year where everything began to fall apart for luck even if fans didn't really know it at the time the first injury of that season came in September when he tore his right labrum in his shoulder then in the beginning of November he suffered a lacerated kidney which caused him to miss a total of nine games following that year he was right back to being the Andrew Luck that Indianapolis fans loved throwing for over 4200 yards and 31 touchdowns but in 2017 he missed the entire season due to finally getting surgery on that Toren laum from 2 years back luck once again came back to deliver a good season for the Colts leading them to the divisional round before this time losing to the Patrick Mahomes Leed Chiefs 31-13 right after a preseason game before the 2019 season began that's when luck shocked the entire world he announced his retirement from football entirely stating that he'd been in constant pain for four straight years it had taken away his joy for the game and he was just done going through that cycle a lot of mental and physical pain at the end of the day luck was adored by Indie fans one of the nicest players in the league and the Colts have deeply missed his presence on the team since after stepping back from football luck has been coaching High School football spending time with his wife and two children and living a much more peaceful life away from the NFL now for 2013 this was our first non-quarterback on this list offensive line man Eric fiser was taken number one by the Kansas City Chiefs after a miserable 2 and4 Season the year prior they fired head coach Romeo kenell brought in Andy Reid and swapped in Alex Smith for quarterback instead of Matt Castle or Brady Quinn they each started a certain amount of games swapping back and forth not to mention they had one of the best running backs in the entire league with Jamal Charles the Chiefs needed fer not only to provide more time for Smith but also open holes for Charles now Kansas City actually finished with a positive record every single season that fiser was on the team 2018 was the first season that he made the Pro Bowl following that Super Bowl season Fischer made one more Pro Bowl appearance in 2020 but unfortunately would tear his Achilles in the AFC Championship game against the bills that year he then signed with the Colts in 2021 but wasn't quite as effective after that injury causing him to enter free agency at the end of the season he did end up signing with the dolphins but didn't play a single snap for them so there's a good chance that fiser NFL career could be over onto 2014 the Houston Texans had picked number one and they were looking to beef up their defense they took Javon Clowney out of South Carolina who was widely known at the time for his electric hit against Michigan in the 2013 Outback pole he was much more than just that hit though he was the best player in the entire country Clowny struggled to stay healthy during his first two seasons in the league dealing with a few different injuries including a miniscus that caused him to miss 12 total games in his rookie season with the Texans once 2016 rolled around though you really started seeing the dominance that Clowney was capable of he made the Pro Bowl three straight Seasons along with helping the Texans make the playoffs twice after the 2018 season was over Clowney began bouncing around the league from the Seahawks to the Titans and then to the Browns but over that time he was never truly healthy and didn't play in all 16 games any season most recently he was a part of the Ravens team who just made to the AFC Championship game before losing to the Chiefs Clowny played a huge role in them getting that far though and that defense being so deadly as he finished the season tied for a career high in sacks at 92 moving to 2015 now crab leg stealing jamus Winston was taken first overall by the Bucks following their 2 and4th season coming out of Florida state jamus had a long list of strengths including being an excellent pocket passer having great accuracy impressive football IQ could scramble well and many many more the main weakness just seemed to be his immaturity off the field now if you've watched the NFL a lot since 2015 you would know that jamus can certainly be a character when it comes to his attitude but you do know what to expect from him when he does play he started off his NFL career well making the Pro Bowl in his rookie year and following that up by Leading the Bucks to their first positive season since 2010 just when things seemed to be going well they turned around and started going in the oppos opposite direction during the 2017 and 18 Seasons Winston dealt with multiple injuries and when he was on the field the team was just not winning games finishing those Seasons with a combined record of 6 and 16 once 2019 rolled around jamus threw for a mindboggling 519 yards along with 33 touchdowns now you would think holy this guy's insane right MVP type season right here except for the fact that he threw 30 interceptions and the Bucks only finished 7 and N because of all those turnovers it became pretty clear that after that season Winston wasn't going to last long in Tampa Bay so he became part of the division rival New Orleans Saints starting in 2020 since then he's mainly served as a backup quarterback behind names like Drew Brees Andy Dalton and most recently Derek Carr 2016 yet another quarterback went first Jared gof was taken by the Rams the first season that they switched from St Louis to Los Angeles and that season was a complete disaster for him his starting record was 0er and seven throwing more interceptions than touchdowns and leaving the organization with more questions than answers golf gave them those answers though starting in year 2 leading them to an 11 and5 record and making his first Pro Bowl appearance after having a 4 to1 touchdown interception ratio the Rams would end up losing in the wild card game that season but would be right back in the playoffs in 2018 looking for more on the back of another Jared GF Pro Bowl SE season the Rams made it all the way to the Super Bowl against the Tom Brady Le Patriots this game was a straightup defensive battle 16 total points scored zero touchdowns thrown by either quarterback this was a casual fans worst nightmare and the Super Bowl is the most casually watched NFL game all season long so you can probably imagine people hated this game Brady of course won yet another title and all the Rams had to show for their amazing run was three points in the biggest game of the entire year now golf kept playing well for the next two seasons but the Rams wanted to win and they wanted it now so they didn't feel like G was the right guy to do that with they sent him to Detroit and replaced him with Matthew Stafford and as we know now that would be the right choice for them as Los Angeles then won the Super Bowl that same year but golf's time in Detroit started the exact opposite very bad 310 And1 was his starting record that first year but since then that organization has had hope like never before players are stepping up huge like Aman R st Brown The Duo of David Montgomery and jir Gibbs have brought New Life to that backfield and the lions are hoping to cash in on a Super Bowl run within the next couple of years they came super close this past season and should have Honestly made it to face the Chiefs they kind of choked that game against the 49ers and I personally wouldn't be surprised at all if we saw the Lions win it very soon the lions are also a team that I feel like you can't hate they've been bad for so long now you got to cut these guys some slack here let's see Jared G and the Lions win a championship let's head to 2017 where a defensive end by the name of Miles Garrett would be selected by the Cleveland Browns they needed a ton of help on both sides of the ball and they were coming off a season where they gave up the third most amount of points in the league so far into his career Garrett has been a phenomenal pick his rookie season started late due to an ankle injury but since then he has been a complete monster making five Pro Bowl appearances are ready three First Team all pro appearances and is coming off his best season yet in 2023 since 2018 Garrett had 10 or more sacks every season and the only reason he didn't have a six Pro Bowl appearance is because he was suspended in 2019 for six games for bashing Mason Rudolph with his helmet like we just mentioned he had 10 sacks still missing six games that year which is unreal the past season he just won his first Defensive Player of the Year award they're hoping to definitely pick up right where they left off next season with Garrett once again leading that defense as for 2018 those same Browns were on the clock looking for a quarterback after three straight disasterous Seasons they took my brother Baker Mayfield you know people say I look like him all the time except there's one difference you know he's out here leading an NFL team to the playoffs while I'm over here making videos so if you want to send me some money Baker to your family I would be much appreciated but during his college days at Oklahoma there were mixed opinions about him some Scouts thought he was a fear leader who had the toughness needed to make it in the league While others thought he was too cocky and needed to get his act in check that toughness is exactly what the Browns needed though a player who would put everything on the line to win games that's exactly what Baker did the Browns fought and clawed their way back to close to an even record for the first two years but in the third season they finally broke through they finished with a record of 11 and5 and made their first playoff appearance since 2002 Cleveland even won their first playoff game beating the Steelers before eventually falling to momes and the Chiefs now after that year Baker couldn't find that same level of success and in 2022 he was sent to the Carolina Panthers where he started off the year 1 and5 as a starter near the trade deadline Mayfield ended up on the Rams where he had a miraculous game against the Raiders on Thursday Night Football but sadly that high wouldn't last too long now this most recent season he was a part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and really turned his career around with this team he threw for his first 4,000 yard season of his career finished third in comeback Player of the Year voting and led them to a playoff birth they absolutely smoked the hell out of the Eagles in the wildcard round 32 to9 before falling to the lions in the divisional round 2019 we have yet another quarterback Kyler Murray taken by the Cardinals Arizona was coming off a 3 and13 season they were not happy at all with Josh Rosen so they decided to look for answers elsewhere that answer happened to be Kyler Murray now Murray's first season in the NFL turned out great he won the offensive Rookie of the Year award and threw for 20 touchdowns but there were still a ton of problems most importantly was that the Cardinals only finished with five wins and he was sacked the most out of any quarterback in the entire league now in 2020 the Cardinals decided to give him a weapon by the name of DeAndre Hopkins who was one of the best wide receivers in football at the time this went well for both of them leading to Kyler making the Pro Bowl two straight seasons and Arizona making the playoffs in the 2021 season they lost bued the Rams in the Wild Card round but things seemed to be heading in the right direction for them otherwise 2022 became Murray's Worst season though leading to him finishing with a record of 3 and8 before tearing his ACL in a game against the Patriots ultimately ending his season after just 11 games when he was healthy the blame couldn't even all be placed on him though in my eyes this roster had very limited Talent Hopkins was suspended for the beginning of the year so the main wide receiver was Maris Brown and as much as I love Hollywood Brown he's just not a clear number one leading receiver in the NFL this past season Murray came back in the middle of the season but a lot of people fear that he is not the same player as he was before his ACL tear the Cardinals are continuing to stand by Murray but I want to know what you guys think should the Cardinals move on from him or ride it out and see what happens moving on to 2020 we have every lady's favorite quarterback Joe burrow taken by the Bengals Scouts saw him as an immediate game changer at the pro level coming out of LSU he also had two of the best receivers currently in the NFL on that Year's college team with Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase luckily Chase was also drafted by the Bengals so burrow had someone he could rely on which was a huge help the first season of Burrow's career started very slow though for Cincinnati and it got even worse once he tore his ACL MCL and miniscus in late November BR made a huge comeback though proving that he had the toughness to survive at the professional level and win in 201 21 he won the comeback Player of the Year award along with leading the Bengals to a 10- six record in 2022 burrow once again led the Bangles to the playoffs and a 12-4 record along with securing his first Pro Bowl appearance this time around Mahomes and the Chiefs got the better of them knocking cin he out in the AFC Championship game and as for this past season it was a brutal one for burrow as he was injured since the preseason so we really didn't get a good look at their offense in full swing on to 2021 not surprising here another quarterback taken with Trevor Lawrence to the Jaguars Taw was an animal in college finishing his career at Clemson with a record of 38 and two and a national championship to show for it if I'm being completely honest just throw his rookie season with the Jaguars in the garbage because Urban Meyer is one of the worst NFL coaches that I've ever seen once he was finally canned the Jag started doing something in 2022 after they got Doug Peterson from Philly but before that it was a complete show Lawrence finished that 20 22 season with a Pro Bowl appearance 25 touchdown passes just eight interceptions and led the Jags to a playoff birth they snuck by the Chargers in the first round after an unreal comeback but couldn't quite get past Mahomes and the Chiefs in the divisional round personally I was very disappointed in their most recent season they went out and got a huge weapon in Calvin Ridley still had Christian Kirk who went crazy the year prior but still couldn't make a postseason run Lawrence played fine but that's really all it was I'm really hoping for some fight wors from them in the 2024 season or else there's going to be a lot of questions staying with the Jags here they also had the first overall pick in 2022 and this time they decided to go with a defensive end by the name of Trayvon Walker Trayvon Walker has really not been discussed at all these past two seasons from my understanding overall he's been all right but not spectacular he's really good at stopping the run and did just finished this past season with 10 sacks which is great to see so he is trending in the right direction but compared to the the picks after him he kind of gets lost in the noise and in 2023 none other than Bryce young was taken by the Carolina Panthers complete disaster of a rookie season for him 2 and 14 is a starter and was sacked for the most amount of yards out of any quarterback in the league but what is this dude really supposed to do over here your best receiver is a 33-year-old Adam thielen you signed my sanders to a huge contract which personally I don't believe he deserved the offensive line in Philadelphia made him look so much better than he actually is as a runner and the offensive line in general just breaks down right when the ball is snapped they might need to just gut this team and start from scratch honestly at this point hopefully they can get back on the right track in these next couple of Seasons because if not Panthers fans might start a riot and as for 2024 we don't know yet who's going to be the first overall pick the Bears have a choice to make maybe it's going to be Caleb Williams or somebody that nobody expects we're going to have to just wait and see if you enjoyed this video make sure to check out some of my others also hit that subscribe button
