Hey guys! Now, this is another video request from you guys. And the question is: What does the Bible say about dinosaurs? Are there any dinosaurs in the Bible? any of the next videos. Now, does the Bible say anything about dinosaurs? Well, yes, a lot, but it doesn't use the word dinosaur
because back then, the word dinosaur did not exist. They called dinosaurs, "dragons", and other specific
names, like "Leviathan" and "Behemoth". The word 'dinosaur' was created in 1841 by Sir Richard Owen. So, what does the word 'dinosaur' actually mean? Well, it comes from the Greek words "Deinos" and
"Sauros", which means [terrible lizard]. Now, let's look at some Bible verses about dragons. Isaiah 51:9 “Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of
the Lord; awake as in days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not you who
cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the dragon?” You see, in the days of old, before the flood, people
used to live a lot longer. The flood changed everything, including the amount of oxygen. Right now, we barely make 80 years, but back then, people lived to be nearly 1 000 years old. Methuselah lived 969 years, Noah 950, Enosh 905,
Canan 910, Seth 912, and Adam 930. So, they got to see their great-great-great-great-grandchildren. Now, if humans could live that long before the flood,
animals could live that long as well. Especially lizards, but you know the thing about
lizards is... they never stop growing. There are your dragons. Imagine, a 900-year-old lizard, but not just the types of lizards that we have today, but those that are extinct. Sadly, according to the animal foundation, just over the last 500 years, as many as 1 000 species vanished, without even
accounting for many thousands more, that went extinct before science discovered and described them. And now, 38 of all known species on a global scale
are on the verge of extinction. This is all because of us. Humans. And now all the dinosaurs are also extinct. But humans used to live among dinosaurs. That's why they found the Petroglyph in natural bridges, Utah. Legends and stories of dragons in the whole world. And in 2015, they found soft tissue in dinosaur bones. How is that possible if dinosaurs are over 65 million years old? It's not. Now, the Bible uses the Hebrew word 'tannin' to describe a dinosaur. It can also be translated as "sea monster", "serpent", or "dragon". The tannin appeared to have been a big giant reptile of some sort, and the Bible uses this word in the old testament around 30 times. Unfortunately, some Bible translations, including my Afrikaans language Bible do not translate tannin correctly. Instead, they use words like "elephant" or "hippopotamus". But when we read it, in its context, we clearly see that
is not just a hippo or an elephant. But it's describing a dragon. For example, in Job 40:15 God says to Job, "Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox. Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. He makes his tail stiff like a cedar." A cedar tree is huge. That's a huge tail. That's not a hippo or an elephant tail. "The sinews of his thighs are knit together. His bones are tubes of bronze. His limbs like bars of iron. He is the first of the works of God; let Him who made
him bring near His sword! For the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play. Under the lotus plants he lies, in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh. For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows
of the brook surround him. Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened." He's so big that even if the water is turbulent (big
waves), it doesn't affect him at all. "Can one take him by his eyes. or pierce his nose with a snare?" You can't even try to intimidate him when you look into his eyes. Because you'll know, look into those eyes...you stand no chance! You can't pierce his nose with a snare. He's not an ox
that you can try and tame. Then God goes over from talking about the Behemoth
to the Leviathan in Job chapter 41. He says, "Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook or press down his tongue with a cord? Can you put a rope in his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook? Will he make many pleas to you? Will he speak to you soft words?" You see, God and Job, they know that the answers to
these questions are "No". But God is trying to make a point. He's trying to teach Job something. That he is just a human and that God is God almighty. And Job knows nothing actually about who God really
is and how the world works. He can't judge God or tell Him what to do. If you read the whole book of Job, you'll understand
this passage in its context. In verse 7 God says, "Can you fill his skin with
harpoons or his head with fishing spears? Lay your hands on him; remember the battle - you will not do it again! Behold, the hope of man is false; he is laid low even at the sight of him. No one is so fierce that he dare stir him up, who then
is he who can stand before Me? Who has first given to Me, that I should repay him?
Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine. I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, or his
mighty strength, or his goodly frame. Who can strip off his outer garment? Who would
come near him with a bridle? Who can open the doors of his face? Around his teeth is terror. His back is made of rows of shields, shut up closely as with a seal. One is so near to another that no air can come between them. They are joined one to another; they clasp each other
and cannot be separated." This is not an elephant or a hippo. Now, listen to the next part: "His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like
the eyelids of the dawn. Out of his mouth go flaming torches; sparks of fire leap forth. Out of his nostrils comes forth smoke, as from a
boiling pot and burning rushes. His breath kindles coals, and a flame comes forth from his mouth." A fire breathing dragon. Do I believe it? Of course, I do. It's God's Word, and it's very specific. Even today we have a certain type of beetle that can spit fire explosions. The bombardier beetles. They engineer explosive chemical reactions inside
their bodies and then fire it from their backsides. It can fire at a speed of 22 miles per hour at 100 degrees celsius. Now, let's get back to the Bible. Job 41:21, "His breath kindles coals, and a flame
comes forth from his mouth. In his neck abides strength, and terror dances before him. The folds of his flesh stick together, firmly cast on him and immovable. His heart is hard as a stone, hard as the lower millstone. When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid; at the crashing they are beside themselves." This is not fantasy or a legend. It is real! Verse 26 says, "Though the sword reaches him, it does not avail, nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin. He counts iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood. The arrow cannot make him flee; for him, slingstones
are turned to stubble. clubs are counted as stubble; he laughs at the rattle of javelins. His underparts are like sharp potsherds; he spreads himself like a threshing sledge on the mire. He makes the deep boil like a pot; he makes the sea like a pot of ointment. Behind him he leaves a shining wake" So, when the Leviathan walks into the water, into the sea. The water boils around him because he's hot a fire-breathing dragon. And as he walks in, behind him, you can see something like oil on the surface of the
water behind him, as he walks in. Definitely not a hippo or an elephant. Verse 33, "On earth, there is not his like, a creature without fear. He sees everything that is high" Meaning he is very huge. Tall. "He is king over all the sons of pride." So, are there dinosaurs in the Bible? Yes, of course. If you look at original Hebrew, and Greek, and good
Bible translations, it's clear. Just in the old testament, it is mentioned around 30 times. Now, some people say that Noah did not bring them
on the ark, and so they were wiped out at the flood. But is that what Scripture says? No. Genesis 7:13 says, "On the very same day Noah and
his sons, Shem and Ham and Japheth, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered the ark, they and every beast, according to its kind," It says 'every beast' and after 'its kind' not its type, 'its kind'. Very important. "And all the livestock according to their kinds, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, according to its kind, And every bird, according to its kind, every winged creature. They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. Now, that includes dragons or lizards. Now, you're probably thinking, 'Hmm, but dinosaurs
are too big to fit on the ark'. Well, yes, they are but not the babies. Not the small ones. So, Noah probably took the little ones because it's
easier to just handle them, and also they just live longer. So, how and when did they all disappear? Why are they extinct? If you're curious. If you want to know the answer.
