What do AMERICANS know about IRELAND?

[Music] top of the morning to you ireland james prime here and i am 12 irish so you know what that means anyway as a 12 percent irishman i feel like it's my responsibility to go around and spread some general knowledge on a beautiful country that my ancestors once called home on a more serious note this video isn't meant to make anyone look dumb or anything it's just to go around and spread some general knowledge on a country that people may not know much about so let's go find some americans and ask them what they know and what they think about the republic of ireland [Music] [Music] what's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about ireland uh maybe the weather okay like but rainy and stuff like that or something yeah i think of green land yeah okay beer some little scottish skirts something like that iceland stuff like that right beer beer beer red skin guinness the first thing that comes to mind when i think of ireland just like the beauty and the landscape i've had friends that have gone to ireland and it's just they've talked about how gorgeous it is and show me pictures and just mind-blowing how beautiful it is um liquor beer beer alcohol patty's day you know that's what i'm thinking lucky charms i don't know people that dances with the skirt and they just go like that and they call them uh i don't know like elves i don't know what are they what are they called i don't know irish dancers i don't know guinness because i know people drink guinness i don't know if that's an irish thing right okay the instrument they play i don't know i think you're thinking more of scotland they do like bagpipes in the kilt oh yeah yeah i don't think that's irish i'm gonna show you a map of the world you point out where you think ireland is i don't know yeah maybe like up there somewhere around this area okay i would say okay let me get let me get it out a little bit i'm not a flat earther so um you're gonna go in this area okay and then yourself i'm gonna have to go with her gonna go around this area all right so where do you think ireland is i know it's somewhere in europe and then i think it's kind of north i'm going to stay right here one of pound but i think they went it all europe went to the euro yeah euro euro yeah sure i'm gonna go with the pound but i'm not sure euro euro zero they didn't go through brexit i don't think i'm gonna say euro yes that's what i would i'll go with my first mine so that's gonna be the euro so i'm gonna go with euro this one's actually the euro oh the euro okay yes double done all right good job okay so this one actually is the euro yeah what is the most common language spoken in ireland is it english irish french or scots scotch i guess no actually yeah i'll do that okay i'll go irish irish okay this sounds like a trip like a tricky question the common language yep most common language in ireland irish i guess i'll just go with irish irish irish yeah and irish english english english yeah english english english so i'm going to guess french french yeah irish french scott scott's you would say irish but i'm going to say english would it be the king's english or the english irish it is english they they do speak english or that everyone like 99 people speak english there but their old native language is irish the most common language is english um yes it is english oh no okay i know you talked about like it would be like arrogant it would be arrogant yes english the last one is for you guys to any irish people out there watching this what would be your message to them yeah you guys make good movies for sure you like agriculture yeah nice and yourself anything for the irish people i don't know anything about y'all but have an awesome day i would like to go to ireland one day i like to travel so i don't mind trying the new things out there i'm not really educated and stuff like that about ireland but i would like to go find out me too i want to travel and like try food over there or something yeah i love trying different foods that's what i want to do too hey if y'all need a place to stay just let us know come hang out yeah couch surfers that's cool yeah i know i mean i i know quite a few irish people you guys are cool would that be cool we could give them our place and they could give us their place for a month yeah yeah i'd be sweet we'll do that take care of our dog and cats that'd be awesome we'll take care of yours they're watching apologize i don't know a lot about ireland as americans we don't look beyond our culture our life um maybe i need to look into it sorry well i would say you know life is a journey one day i wouldn't mind coming to your location so you know everything is um is everything i love it appreciate the uh the knowledge and history because when i travel when we travel we try to understand different places and see what's going on what history is telling us going forward so one day we'll have a drink this is enjoyable because it shows me how much i don't know about your country and that just means there's so much more to learn which is exciting um so i'll definitely have to like dig into irish culture a little bit more and you know ask my irish friends so that's that's really neat so thank you for opening my eyes to like what i don't know about your country but yeah i know may the lord bless you and keep you and make his face shine upon you nice all right so there you have it folks that's what a handful of americans think and know about ireland now to the people in this video that participated i really appreciate you guys you guys are absolute legends for putting yourselves out there and learn a thing or two about a country that you may not know much about now to my irish brothers and sisters out
