What did they put on our PIZZA?! 🍕 (Alaska Family Vlog part 4) Homer & Anchorage

[Music] welcome to the final episode of our 2021 alaska family vacation it's been quite the adventure so check out the previous videos if you missed them because it's been one bear of an adventure that was corny [Music] saturday was bitterly cold and as we made our way to homer for our scheduled halibut trip i was questioning every decision we made about deep sea fishing with a four-year-old it was so windy wet and cold that zander who is often immune to the cold it seems started to cry when we tried to get him out of the car this definitely didn't seem like a great start to the day we are in homer and we came down here to go halibut fishing it is one seriously cold day i took the drama mean i'm hoping i won't get sick gave a little bit to xander careful a little warmer down here catch a big halibut yeah yeah you think you'll catch a hell of it straight inside for the safety speech and then i'll come get you after we're rolling all right thank you you're welcome once we finally got on our boat which thankfully had a heated cabin the weather started improving and our fishing adventure turned into quite the enjoyable day [Music] where's seal over here buddy look look there's a seal see it's swimming up there see did you see it no you did it did you get sick i kind of doubt it but you can see we're staying in the bay it's probably gonna be pretty decent [Music] [Music] [Music] life is wonderful life is wonderful [Music] never understood [Music] the level of excitement on xander's part he's over the roof anyways just dripping a little bit not too bad the guy's gonna stay in the inlet because there's lots of storms so hopefully we won't get it is pretty rough out there i guess so we're not going to go too far out [Music] [Music] xander we're getting into more rough waves he's like why no one's like because the whales go underneath the water and sneeze we got some sunshine actually not as cold as i was expecting when we got out of the car it was just ferociously cold and i was like man are we crazy xander was crying but it actually feels pretty good out here it's like a roller coaster coaster yeah yeah like the bumpy place yeah there is have these slides that one is nice work yeah i think nolan got a second one how's the army [Music] all right nice job babe what do you say oh it's almost here so nolan and i both limited out we both got two pretty quick um on these half day trips they don't go out as far so we tend to get like the smaller ones not those huge trophy fish this was a lot of fun and my lips are so chapped are you having fun in here yeah okay you didn't catch how much you got the catch i got two daddy caught two one of both what we can get [Music] [Music] is [Music] so oh that was fun i am completely windswept and my lips are so chapped but anyway now we're going to try to decide if we want to take the halibut back home but yeah today is nolan's birthday turns 33 i hope he had a good birthday huh oh i always forget he's turning 34. [Music] that [Music] uh homer is such an adorable little town we even found a place with gelato which tastes just as good as when i was in italy it's amazing [Music] oh [Music] yeah yeah what do you think of your birthday so far it's awesome it's been really fun caught two halibut i was with my family all day now we're eating seafood all right [Music] so this is our last day kind of in the homer area and actually nimble check how do we say it so we were debating whether we're taking our fish home or not but i think we're going to try but instead of going through one of the services here we're just gonna run down get ziploc bags go back freeze our fish put them in the freezer get one of those styrofoam things ship it home that way on our plane um a lot of people do it that way so it's kind of the plan right now and we're getting coffees yup because i'm some hot chocolate 617. so here in town there's these two boats one's called redeemer and the others called what devotion devotion of course nolan and his ride jokes you want to repeat it i just wondered how awkward it would be if redeemer would sink yeah that is close buddy hello there what is this ginormous it's a she wonder if she has babies we are literally like a couple feet from this moose just sitting here hopefully won't be mad and charge at us but yeah i think we're good front row seat so adorable you're adorable moose that's cute charging at us go boom crasher oh he likes his mama he does all righty we are going to try to bag up this fish we got a ginormous amount here's jeanine cutting halibut from yesterday's successful catch i wish i had a cutting board i say butchering yeah i don't think butchering this guy didn't catch any fish i washed it on me i missed [Music] it one two three ten packs most of them have at least three fillets in it like cut in half and stuff oh it's a lot of fish but i fell in love with fresh salmon i wish so bad we would have caught more salmon oh if it would taste as good oh man i would eat salmon all day all night it's amazing i might have to just buy some fresh salmon to take home [Music] homer alaska is simply breathtaking and because our halibut fishing trip had taken most of the previous day we decided to spend this day enjoying the sights and exploring the famous homer spit the drive into homer is absolutely stunning and of course i had nolan stop so we could get some photos of the lupine flowers with the mountains as backdrops you'd never know i took this photo alongside a busy highway would you anyways homer boasts the longest road that extends into ocean waters in the entire world a whopping four and a half miles will get you to the ends where you can catch a boat out of the harbor or enjoy the endless amount of adorable little shops and restaurants so welcome to the homer spit where we spent the rest of the day so xander's bound and determined that we're going to throw rocks today again it's so high on his priority that he wants it over ice cream we asked him do you want any ice cream first no he wants to throw rocks so that's how important rock throwing is back when i was younger maybe in my early 20s i went to europe for a big tour and i got hooked on italian gelato ice cream gelato i guess it's called i haven't had anything that compares to it until now in alaska of all places this gelato takes me back to italy it's amazing this is salted caramel absolutely amazing mmm mine is glitter you try mom's and see if you still think that it's in glitter you're just still gooder yeah what did you get [Music] okay so i wanted to try some reindeer hot dogs when we're here i got one with mustard relish and kelp or something so we'll see how it tastes i kind of expected it to be something you'd have to like pretend pretty hard you could taste the difference between yeah definitely not a regular dog a beard [Music] good job [Music] [Music] oh my goodness oh look oh buddy [Music] um that one there you go that gives me an idea let's get lost together let's go chase that postcard let's get lost together because if we don't [Music] traveling with a child or children is uh probably the most relaxing unrelaxed thing you'll ever do what's that well thank you xander that's special you picked a flower for mom yeah i like like a little stuff on it it is nice sander picked me a flower so sweet of him these are the kind okay those are the kind good hey daddy get more flowers see daddy style i wonder how old they actually are but like they look right out of old readers [Music] let's get lost together [Music] let's go chase that postcard wish you were here with her let's get lost together [Music] [Music] all right we are at the end of our trip we're headed back to anchorage here from ninlcek anyway our plane leaves tonight actually at midnight so it's basically leaving tomorrow morning 12 30 a.m so we have a red-eye flight through the night and then we have a four-hour labor of chicago and then we should be home landing at five then we have a two-hour drive home so it's gonna be a long two days but it was a fun trip and we get to go hang out in anchorage a little bit yet today before we leave we have a three and a half hour drive back to anchorage let's get lost together let's go chase that postcard wish you were here together let's get lost together [Music] what's mom doing we found ourselves back at our favorite spot at anchorage lakehood there was one other thing we really wanted to do in anchorage before leaving but first nolan went to clean out the car while xander and i stayed and watched the airplanes [Music] what is that blaze please [Music] duckies just don't fall in oh i think they think you have something for them to eat i don't i know you can go a little closer just don't get too too close to the edge [Music] [Applause] [Music] yeah there's little baby ducks out here we're playing with xander's monster trucks it's a pretty day it's nice and warm here first i've got to count some airplanes oh yeah we were gonna count airplanes for dad weren't we yeah we we lost track oh no but that's okay that's okay yeah we come here and there again count them right yeah should we play with your trucks now yes does he smell him no okay what's under there can mommy dig a little bit no no no no she can't i can't yeah because mom's just hiding in there monster trucks okay oh no that alligator looks scary i smell though okay oh no the poor monster trucks yeah [Music] [Music] yeah pretty much of a pig pen we had been seeing recommendations to not miss out at the pizzeria moose's tooth which people claim is one of the best in the nation we knew the waiting lines were usually quite long so we tried to arrive early but the wait time was still one and a half hours and this was a monday evening i can't imagine what the weekends are like but we put in our names and then hung out at ship creek to kill some time before we could dig into this famous pizza waterfall here's a tiny one mom they said there's kings and silvers are fishing right now i didn't see anyone catch anything but we weren't here that long we have to get back if we want some pizza yeah like what kind of pizza was it apricot pizza we wanted yeah it's kind of bad this place is insane there's parking everywhere the cars are just lying along the streets in front of the building just everywhere there's like no place to park people are just zipping out with their pizzas it's just nuts we got here just in time buzzer rang and we're right in tonight good good good i ordered this amazing strawberry summer salad they have i can't wait to dig into it phenomenal pizza place can hammer the salad out like that yeah i was kidding help yourself let's get it this salad is the best salad hands down i've ever eaten they have their own homemade rice wine vinaigrette tossed with greens and strawberries feta cheese mandarin oranges and some kind of almond sweet concoction they put on top is just amazing pretty near the best salad i've ever had [Music] i guess xander that was a no from him he had one taste of the feta cheese on the mandarin orange he didn't want it i was wrong that was goat cheese not feta that's why he didn't like it they had the most crazy flavors here and we ordered a large pizza half and half of each nolan got like a mousse pizza mousse pizza which is like sort of like a regular meat with a bunch of veggies then they have this one that was recommended it's called amazing apricot i saw someone review on youtube it's blackened chicken cream cheese apricot sauce red peppers carrots green onions cilantro mozzarella and provolone so this is going to be interesting to see how it tastes yeah you're actually last year that the amazing apricot won the best pizza we had a vote are you serious yes so you guys are welcome awesome awesome okay let's get you a piece of pizza oh okay delicious that's what this one's called it's called a bull moose [Music] yeah i think you'll like it it's a meat pizza yeah if you like it we'll give you an apricot i'm not sure if you'll like apricot quite as much as this apricots and carrots that is some amazing pizza super interesting that is really good i'm not good at describing food but that is amazing pretty amazing you think buddies like it yeah so our waiter told us this apricot pizza won best pizza award last year it is phenomenal it's the weirdest combination so tasty i don't even know how to describe it but it is amazing um [Music] oh my word that was like the most amazing pizza ever ever ever now we have to head to the airport i think this is a good place to end our alaska vlog we have to have a few hours yet to burn we might just go sit along the creek maybe if i see someone catch a big fish i'll take another video probably won't and then we have a red-eye flight we'll just be sleeping the whole way home hopefully so it's going to be a long night but i'm so ready to get home but this was an amazing trip so packing everybody up and uh we are off we are ugh [Applause]
