you see him first Corinthians chapter three and we'll start with one and we'll hit down to about I know seventeen or so says brothers and if I'm reading in IV so if you want to read with me over the brothers I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly mere infants in Christ so I gave you milk and not solid food for you were not yet ready for it look at somebody say time to grow up indeed you are still not ready she says you weren't ready why aren't they not ready for since there is jealousy and we hit a lot of this last week when I preached and quarreling the visions among you are you still not worldly are you not acting like mere men for when one says I'll follow up Allah and another says I'll follow Apollo's are you not mere men what after all is Apollo's and what is Paul they're only servants through whom you came to believe as the Lord has assigned to each his tasks so God's the one that gives you a Metron a measure an assignment of purpose God's the one that marks off your boundaries according to Acts chapter 17 he's the one that chooses your geography even so you're either in the will or out of the will of God it's just really that simple God has a place he's got a plan for you he's got an intention for you verse 6 he goes I planted the seed Apollo's watered it but neither one of us are the ones that could give increase God is the one they gave increase God is the one that made it to grow so says some of us plan some of us water but God's the one that gives increase don't ever get the God complex and think it's all about you because it's all about him so neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything but only God so isn't that nice and humbling we're nothing except for vessels and vehicles to be used by God boy that levels or everything because he doesn't want us to get puffed up and pride and think that it's about us because it is not about us remember the syrophoenician woman had the vexed or the daughter who is vexed with the devil and she comes crying to touch Jesus and the disciple said she wants us hey Joker she didn't want you she wanted Jesus and we need to get out of the way so people can get to Jesus our whole life should be a vehicle as mark sure to share Jesus so then they go on he says the man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose now watch this is where I'm gonna get so buckle in so we'll have fun today but it's gonna get tight it's gonna be right all right think I've got a few on the front row they're like come on pastor Paulo all right so the man who plants the man who waters have one purpose and each will be awarded rewarded according to his own labor now camp out there cuz it's gonna get harder for we are God's fellow workers you're God's field you're God's building by the grace God has given me I laid a foundation as an expert builder and someone else is building on it but each one of you should be careful how he builds now why does he teach this and I won't go in it today because there were false apostles coming forth and I'll give you what a false apostle they're about seven different characteristics that came forth that were infiltrating the church and leading people astray so much so that they started messing up the Lord's Supper and the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ they were messing up basics of Christianity for no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is Jesus Christ If any man builds on this foundation using gold silver costly stones wood hay or straw watch verse 13 this is where we're gonna focus his work will be shown for what it is because the day will bring it to light if I had to give today a message if I had to give it a title y'all know I'm terrible at titles look at somebody say what am i working for look at somebody you haven't talked to and say what am i working for I mean you're not saying it loud enough because you ten you're here by coincidence about what am i working for because there is a day that every work will be shown on the day it will be brought to light it will be revealed with fire and the fire will test the quality of each man's work if what he has built survives he will receive reward if it is burned up he will suffer loss he himself will be saved now watch this though but only is one escaping through the flames and we're gonna get into deep don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and the god spirit lives in you if any one man destroys God's temple which is talking about the unity which we've gone over God will destroy him for God's temple is sacred and you are that temple so he says if you destroyed this is not your personal vices if you destroy the unity of the body he said then God will destroy you and it's very clear but in verse 13 through verse 15 he says look a lot of your works on that day are gonna be burned up now how do we know what's gonna remain and what's gonna stay grab the person saying because you're gonna need prayer today alright grab the person's hand and say hold on we can do this we're growing up we're getting off milk we're gonna get onto some meat father I just ask that you would anoint me and not only anoint my tongue to be that of a pin of a ready writer but anoint the ear to hear let it not be through the filters of their life or what they have perceived it not be through religion but let it be by the pureness of the word of God Holy Spirit I call upon you for without you we can do absolutely nothing at the end of today's service let your son Jesus Christ be glorified and magnified and let us grow as the bride the body of Christ for there is only one bride let us receive the meat of your word today for when we stand before you this life is just a vapor let it not be wasted but let it have served purpose effectively and efficiently and the name which is above every name the name of Jesus Christ and everybody said amen look at somebody say what am i working for you can be seated because I want to really focus and we'll get that because the day will bring it to light so when we ask what am i working for it should be a sincere heart wrenching question and examination for all of us remember that we studied from the previous chapter specifically in first corinthians chapter 1 verse 10 we talked about I appeal to you brothers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ then all of you agreeing with one another so that there be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought so we found out the word division there means a split or gap right there should be no split no gap no severance and then if we went down to verse 13 it says it says very clearly it says that Christ is not divided what was a different word remember how we studied that out and it means disunited so anything that is dis united is not of Christ for Christ is not disunited so when a marriage gets this United when when when churches pull away when people pull away that is not of Christ for the kingdom of God that's why Jesus said look if I come and I cast out Devils and I Beelzebub can a kingdom divided stand so anything disunited he's saying that's not of me I'm not the God that divides and so when we look at this he says you Paul addresses the problem he says I appeal to you he said because their splits their gaps their severance --is and he goes on he said I ask you to be perfectly minded or he says I'd like the King James and that be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the word perfectly joined together means that you need to repair or to adjust so what are you saying wherever there is a gap repair it wherever there's a severance repair it wherever there's a split why is it quiet right now repair it he says adjust some of us are so full of pride that we're our own worst enemy we just need to humble herself and say man we've all messed up we've all created some problems in our own family and our own wives come owning in ministry and in different things and we just need to repair it we need to just we're not gonna be so prideful that we can't humble ourself and say hey whose work we're flesh and we make mistakes but thank goodness for your grace thank God for the blood it's time to repair some things it's time to adjust some things and so this is so see is that Paul further explains that most will not only lose their reward but even be destroyed for bringing division into the body of Christ so the focus on first Corinthians is not doctrinal theology as much as it is pastoral theology and that's an important because he's talking about how we do life together the church has believers because Jesus main message was thy kingdom come right thy will be done in the earth as it is in heaven so the latter deals primarily with the problem of those who bring division into the church and since unity indicates spiritual maturity because that's what he's saying you're still too immature you act like the world you think like the world you talk like the world you treat each other like you would in the world but you're in this world but not on this world you've been born your new creation in Christ and unity since unity indicates spiritual maturity we must learn to discern the good of loving the Brethren and the evil of division and dissensions because God hates those now watch this I was like am I gonna go here today I decided I would because people think God is just full of love God is a just God and there are many things God says I hate and rights like God loves everybody that's not what the word says I'm gonna say says God hates those who sow discord you know I bring it on to me pastor Paul show me in the word I'm just backing this up by the word all right so proverbs chapter 6 verse 16 through 19 says this these six things says the Lord hate yay seven are an abomination unto Him a proud look a lying tongue hands that shed innocent blood a heart that devises wicked imaginations crooked you know you're always thinking the work don't even make me get started I've had to deal with some wicked imaginations recently or anything a heart that devises wicked imaginations I just have to say and remind myself some people project the own wickedness in their heart and God hates that and you have to say well am I gonna deal with it or let God deal with it I choose as I always have to let God deal with it so God says I eight a lying tongue hands that shed innocent blood a heart that devises wicked imaginations feet that are Swift and running to mischief a false witness someone that lies against you speaks against you we talked about that one who bears false witness against you speaking lies and he that soweth look what's an abomination he that soweth discord among the Brethren so this is serious God says when you bring division in my house so all his promises are for the universal Church it's not just for our local church there's only one Church the blood-bought Church of Jesus Christ there are many members but there's one church therefore we cannot fully receive God's blessings while we are separated from the rest of the body I pray for every pastor in the city I pray for pastors in this nation my heart grieves when we see a brother fall I don't rejoice and go oh man good I might grieved over when you see when one gets hurt we should all hurt when one rejoices we should all rejoices I'm telling you so as individuals we can really only participate in the fullness of God's promises and the privileges of sonship by becoming a remaining active and a lively member of the corporate body the church so that's how we work into the overall fulfillment so unity brings something you ready can I teach you the good stuff before we get to the hard stuff your pastor Tracy is like yeah y'all know this is the anesthesia right so just get ready surgery's coming pastor Myles like yeah praise God so this is just the anesthesia yeah unity brings the commanded blessing now we'll all be shouting Nelson commanded blessing that's an optional what means ordered it means that the orders been put in and it's already being delivered where there's unity can we go deeper say bring it on so unity brings blessing blessing brings the glory of God for there to be unity in the body price there must be unity in your home oh so again I'm just gonna stop so we think that we can come in here and be unified but if you come in Doug and you and Sheila really divided at home and you're coming in and pretending that you're unified then you're just faking it you just apply your come on and because you've got to get it right it starts in your home there - there's there's some divine sacred Institute's that one of them is the home that God created family and the church so God says get it together be unified well you don't know what I am am i you chose him you chose her I mean you should have waited till God joined it together but now that you've got your self in it you better make it work unless you've got some biblical things there are biblical reasons come on 4:4 separateness but listen you work you endeavor for labor or labor for unity so for there to be unity in the body of Christ there has to be unity in our home it's like I've taught you often you can come in here and do your jumping jacks in your spiritual calisthenics but that doesn't mean your worshipper worship starts with a pure heart you can't be fighting the whole time in your car and then come in and put on some superwoman or Superman cave and act like you're all spiritual wonder why don't I have any power in my life when you don't have unity in your home we're not gonna have unity in our churches when we don't have unity in our churches we're not gonna have unity in our communities now don't make me start so on a larger scale the only way to have unity between ready because what's some of the biggest problems y'all know I always have an agenda but I'm just doing expository preaching so what's the problems that we're dealing with we have a divided nation don't we we have divisions and races we have division and nations are you look at me it's not a world problem the world is doing is
